Okay guys, so another new chapter. Good news is I get my laptop back from the shop tomorrow. So I'll finally be able to write again. I've been thinking a lot about Alaska as usual. I cannot wait to get up there.
Also I just recently bought some fly fishing gear, so I'm going to be trying to get into that.
Winter would admit, she never realized fishing could be so much fun. After she had caught her first bass, she was officially hooked on it. They caught a variety of fish. But just like Jem, she got frustrated everytime she caught a bluegill. While it was always exciting to catch a fish, it got really annoying when you caught five little bluegill in a row when all you wanted was to catch a bass or even a crappie. Anything other than little bluegill. Jem suggested they keep the smaller ones to use as bait, but Winter wasn't pissed off enough to kill the little fish. So they just let them go. Eventually her luck changed, and she managed to catch some crappie and some more largemouth.
"So what you think? Was that a good first date or what?" Jem asked as they turned in all the gear they had rented as Winter was looking at all the pictures they took on his phone.
"Okay, I'll admit, I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would." She smiled as she saw a picture of her holding her biggest catch of the day.
"That being said, it was a little weird that you were sweet talking the fish." She said as she remembered a moment where Jem had caught a monster and he practically flirted with it.
"Hey, I was grateful to catch such a beautiful fish, and I wanted to make sure she knew that." He said as Winter giggled a bit at that.
"If you flirted with women the way you flirted with that fish, you could have the potential to be a casanova." (1) She chuckled at the thought as he scratched the back of his head as he let out a small chuckle of his own.
"Nah, I'm a one woman kind of guy, that and the fish won't judge me if I say something stupid." Jem joked back.
Winter was amazed at how easy the two of them were able to carry on a conversation. Considering when they first met Jem wanted to kick Winter out of his motorhome, it was a significant amount of progress. Oh who was she kidding? Going from two people who hate each other to dating each other was a miracle.
"How do you think everyone else is d-" Jem stopped walking and froze.
"You alright? You just sto-" Suddenly she saw what he was looking at and understood why.
They both were looking at a cop car with the lights flashing. And they noticed that a man was currently handcuffed waiting to be put in the back of the car. Normally this wouldn't surprise Jem, but what did surprise him was that it was AJ who was being arrested. He closed his eyes for five seconds and then opened them again to make sure he wasn't imagining things.
"Huh...So I wasn't hallucinating." He said as AJ was actually being arrested.
"Wait, you see it too?" Winter thought she was the only one who was seeing this.
"Nope...AJ is legit in handcuffs." Jem didn't know whether to laugh or wince in confusion.
"Should we...do something?" She asked as he wasn't sure what to do.
"JEM!" Ruby called out as the group walked up to them.
"Ah, there you guys are...so uh...what happened with him?" He asked as he pointed over to AJ.
"We don't know! He ran off when we were by the waterfall!" Ruby was trying to showcase their innocence.
"Ruby, I'm not mad at you, I'm just really confused." Jem said as he knew his cousin. He was a lot of things.
A pervert, furry, pussy, possible communist, germaphobe, degenerate, whiny, mopey, depressing, buzzkill, and a manchild.
But he was certain he didn't have the balls to commit a crime.
He slowly approached.
"Uhm, Officer? Sorry to disturb you, but what did he do?" Jem asked as AJ turned his head to yell.
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! IF I WASN'T TRYING TO STALK YOU THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!" AJ yelled as Jem got a really disturbed look on his face.
"Son, did you just admit to another crime?" The officer couldn't believe this. He already had enough paperwork to deal with, he didn't want to deal with the perp confessing to shit he wasn't even likely to get charged with.
"I DIDN"T DO NOTHING!" AJ yelled as Jem sighed.
"Well Sir, your cousin here was caught pleasuring himself in the park." Jem got a wide eye look in his eyes as he realized his cousin had been caught jerking off.
"THATS NOT TRUE!" AJ yelled as Jem scratched his head.
"Eh, I don't know sounds pretty believable." He said as his cousin was enough of a weirdo to do that.
"Look, a girl came by and caught him, she pepper sprayed him when he turned around with his hand down his pants to look at her." The officer said as AJ was trying to break out of the cuffs and failed miserably.
"THATS BULLSHIT! I WAS SCRATCHING MY BALLS!" Aj yelled as Jem sighed.
"AJ...you do realize they tell you that you have the right to remain silent for a reason right?" He tried to get his cousin to see reason.
"FUCK YOU!" Aj yelled as Jem sighed.
"Look Officer, its my cousin, He's a little...He's uhm-" Jem was considering if he really wanted to help his cousin out of this bind.
Lord knows AJ didn't deserve his help. But he was also certain he didn't deserve a public indeceny charge.
"He's Special." Jem said as the entirety of RWBY and JNPR looked at him like he was crazy.
"DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST CALL ME RETARDED?!" AJ yelled again as Jem sighed even more.
Jem couldn't believe this. AJ might have been innocent, but he was actually trying to fight him on this. Jem was trying to help him, but AJ was trying to get himself in even deeper shit. It was like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter what you did, the pigeon was going to shit on the board and strut on it thinking that it won. The officer was wondering what kind of weird family this guy came from.
"Look, he's not being arrested, just being detained until we get to the bottom of this." The officer replied as Jem breathed out a sigh of relief.
"That being said, he did just admit to stalking you and your girlfriend." Jem blushed a bit as he realized Winter technically was his girlfriend.
"Look, officer." Jem looked over and whispered to him.
"He's not a criminal, he's just an idiot." This time it was the officer's turn to sigh.
"Sir if I had a nickel for everytime someone told me that, I could have retired years ago." This was not going well.
"Look, I get it, he's family, you got to stick up for him, but it seems he doesn't want your help." The cop said as Jem nodded.
"Officer, lets be honest, look at him, he would not do well in jail would he?" Jem asked as the cop looked at AJ again.
He took notice of the furry ears and fake tail he was wearing.
"No...Chances are his cell mates would absolutely love him." The cop knew they would tear into this kid like a five course meal.
"Look, lets just try and get to the bottom of this." Jem said as everyone came in to see what was going to happen.
Three hours later
Well, that went better than expected. AJ was now in the back of the van they had taken to the park. After Jem had talked to the girl who claimed he was masturbating in the park, they managed to explain the situation to her and she wasn't going to press charges. Jem didn't mind, seeing AJ crying like a little girl was enough for him. However the little shit was completely ungrateful to Jem for bailing him out.
He kept saying it was Jem's fault because if he hadn't been stalking Jem to make sure he was being a gentleman then he wouldn't have gotten arrested. He couldn't believe the mental gymnastics that AJ did to reach that conclusion. But then he remembered that AJ had been blowing off responsibility his whole life. No matter what bad thing happened to him, he would always try to find a way to blame someone else.(2)
"Can we stop by Mcdonalds on the way home?" AJ asked as Jem immediately answered.
"No."
"What why not?"
"Because we got food at home."
"But I don't want that."
"Too bad."
AJ glared at the back of Jem's head.
He was going to make Jem pay for this. He swore it.
(1) I actually did have a girl tell me this, because if I ever catch a huge fish, then I want to make sure it feels comfortable and loved while I get the hook out of it.
(2) Sadly, I know way too many people like this. One of the saddest things in life for me to see is people who just don't understand that they cause some of their own problems. Which I understand, nobody wants to admit they were the bad guy in something, but some people are so convinced that they're in the right that they will be a shitty person simply because they believe they can do no harm.
Look, if theres one piece of advice from Jordan B Peterson that I wholeheartedly agree with, its the idea of "Is there something I did in the past that led to my life as it is today?" That should be common sense, but its amazing how much better your life will be once you realize once you take responsibility for your cirumstances. The best thing is just how freeing it is when you realize you're in control of your own life.
