Okay guys, So heres a short chapter. I had a moment to myself not too long ago where I decided to start going back to Roman Catholicism. For the past few years, I have been studying Norse Paganism, and while I thought I believed in the gods in a spiritual sense, I think I more than likely see them more as archetypes. So after a really shitty night, I prayed to God for the first time in a long time. And it just felt more natural because I was raised Catholic. So I'm looking back into it to see if it really is right for me.
Anyways, enjoy the chapter.
And Let's Go Brandon.
"Well here we are." Blake said as they were at the entrance to her home.
KNOCK KNOCK
She had no worries about it this time. She knew that whatever happened wasn't a big deal. Her parents still loved her. And she would be prepared for anything that comes through that door.
CRREEAAAAKKKKK
Jem opened the door dressed in a butler's uniform with a disgruntled look on his face.
She was not prepared for that.
"Oh thank God!" He said as he hugged Blake.
"You've finally come! Your mom made me put this on!" He said as he felt like a dancing monkey.
"DADDY!" Nala said as she practically tackled Jem.
"Oof! Hey Sweetie, I missed you too." He said as he noticed Nala's tail was almost wagging like a dogs.
"Idiot!" Winter looked like she was about to smack him, but she gave him a huge and a kiss on the cheek instead.
"How am I an idiot? AJ was the one who pushed me in?" Jem said as Ironwood spoke up.
"To be fair, you shouldn't have opened the portal in the first place."
"Okay fair enough." He said as he was just glad someone had come for him.
"Blake?" Suddely Blake noticed her mom was standing right there.
Knowing how things turned out in the show. She immediately went and enveloped her mother in a hug.
"Hi mom..." She said as it felt good to not have to worry about how her mother would react.
She knew they still loved her even when she was gone for all those years. So she wasn't going to waste this oppurtunity to give her mom a warm reunion.
"See? I told you they would be here." Jem said as Kali smiled as she hugged her daughter back.
"Yes you were right, now could you please go prepare some tea for our guests?" Kali said as Jem grumbled.
"Okay...but this is the last chore I do, that was the deal!" He said as he went to go prepare the tea.
Jem honestly was happy to see that everyone was finally here. He told Kali and Ghira that Blake sent him ahead of time to make sure they would be fine with her returning home after so long. It was obviously a lie, but he basically had to be their bitch for the next few days so that they wouldn't think he was bullshitting. He didn't realize how much work two people could put on a human being. At first it was basic stuff like cooking and cleaning. But next thing you know he was picking up dry cleaning, doing paperwork, shopping for food, all of which weren't bad by themselves, but a pain in the ass when you were trying to get some time to relax.
He sighed as he noticed the rat pack was passed out again on the couch after a sugar high.
"Awwww so cute!" His mom said as she picked up some of the sleeping mice faunus.
It took Jem a second to register it.
"HEY WAIT A MINUTE, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ME IN THREE DAYS, AND THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS COMPLETELY IGNORE ME FOR KIDS YOU DON'T KNOW?!" Jem didn't know whether to be insulted or impressed.
"But they're so cute! And you stopped being cute a long time ago." His dad joined his mom in cuddling the sleeping mice.
"Geez, and you wonder why your speeches to teenage me didn't work." He thought back to a moment he had with his dad in high school.
"Dad! I'm not going to let you put me down, because I love myself for who I am!"
"Well you shouldn't, you should love yourself for who you're going to be, because right now you suck."
Jem took that advice to heart.
It may have hurt, but it also worked.
Tigerstripe
"You know its amazing how nice life is here." She said as she had managed to get a job at the coffee shop.
As it turned out it wasn't that hard, they didn't even ask her for any form of ID. However she knew she would eventually have to get something akin to that. She couldn't walk around Remnant being a faceless girl for the rest of her time here. She didn't intend to stay in this world forever, but she would be damned if she didn't at least try to blend in. As a furry, she had spent days hiding away her true self from her parents.
Her parents were both devout christians who believed that furries were being manipulated by the devil. So she had to hide her true self away for years until she was able to get her own place. Even now her parents had no idea how much of a sexual deviant she was.
But she cringed at the thought of that. That was the way it should be! Honestly, what child would want their parents to know about their weird fetishes? She shuddered at what would happen if her parents found out.
They would probably send her to a convent.
She served up a triple shot of espresso to someone and got ready for her lunch break. Food was never an issue, employees ate for free. So her biggest concern was shelter. Which she had already taken care of. In reality, she slept in the store at night. She always volunteered to be the last one at work to lock up. So all she did was sleep on a couch in the break room until it was time for the store to open. Then she would leave the store and lock the door until the boss came to 'Open up' with them never knowing that she was living rent free in the store.
She smirked as she took a bite of her sandwich as she looked at the laptop in front of her.
So she had a job and a place to stay. But now she needed to get herself a weapon.
She had no experience with guns. And at this point, she couldn't get Jem to teach her, so she thought about her own background. She had never gotten into martial arts despite basic self defense her father taught her, as well as what she learned through her job as a corrections officer. But nothing besides that and the basic weapons qual she occasionally had to participate in.
"Hmmm." She hummed in thought as she took a sip of her latte.
"A big ass sword is out of the question, that only works in shonen anime, Nunchuks I would be more likely to hurt myself than someone else. I'm not doing a katana like a basic weeb..." She stopped her train of thought.
She was thinking about her favorite comic book characters.
"No, Lady deathstrike wouldn't work at all..." She pouted as she couldn't find a way to get claws coming out of her nails.
She put a hand to her chin as she thought it over. Obviously Remnant was the place for crazy weapons. But they couldn't have mutant powers or any of that bullshit unless they were a faunus. So Melania figured she would go with the next best thing.
"Lets see, Yang had shotgun gauntlets." Suddenly it hit her.
"Thats it!" She started to think it through.
She knew what she wanted to do.
"Now all I need is the money!"
And with that, she got back to her shift determined to make enough to get what she needed.
The only issue was she would have to find another way to make enough money, because no fucking way you could afford what she wanted on a barista's salary.
