Okay guys, another out of place chapter. I've been having a good week so far. I recently published a new story. Some new stuff for my bug out bag arrived. And I've stocked up on enough emergency food and water to last me two weeks. Which isn't much, and I plan on getting more. But this is my emergency stash just in case.

As I said before, I don't mind talking about prepping on here, because you can't see my face or name on this. But never talk about prepping on social media, because it draws attention to yourself, and you will be called crazy. That in itself isn't the issue, but say SHTF and you were bragging about stocking up on enough food or water to last you a year. Guess where the looters are coming first? (This does not apply if you have weapons, but you can see my point, prepare but don't draw too much attention to yourself)

I'll be honest, even I think I'm crazy. But considering Winter is coming, the supply chain issue is still going on, and last year stores were barren for a month or two, I'm not taking chances.

I want two things to be certain when it comes to prepping.

That I'll eat.

And I can wipe my ass.

Jem was happily enjoying his vanilla and fudge ice cream as Nala licked on a chocolate chip ice cream cone. After they had gotten their ice cream, the faunus who had shown them the place had left to go run her errands. Jem didn't mind, he was hoping she felt uncomfortable when he told her he heard voices in his head. He really hated the idea he was just going to turn into some other douchebag Mary sue.

On the off chance that he was a part of the RWBY tv series now, he didn't want to be seen as a perfect character. Mostly because he was far from it. He wasn't nearly as brave as anyone on the show, mostly because he wouldn't know how he would react to seeing a Grimm for the first time. He wasn't as strong or fast as anyone there. That was a disappointment. And to top it all off, he was certain he was going to get in a fight with some of the characters he couldn't stand.

And sadly someone bumped into him.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" He heard a voice say as he saw his ice cream fall to the ground.

"Eh its okay it was just an acc-" He was cut off as he noticed who he was speaking to.

"Of all the people I run into down here, it has to be the one character I find annoying." He thought to himself as he resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

Robyn Hill.

The rip off of Robin Hood.

Which he loved the tales of Robin Hood, but she would have been a lot more enjoyable as a character if he didn't think the writers were only writing her in as some weird Hillary Clinton/Robin Hood love child. She just annoyed him. I mean come on, even the whole episode where she loses an election to a wealthy business owner with help from an enemy force was just seemed like an obvious allusion to Roosterteeth's own political beliefs.

He couldn't be entirely sure of it, but it sure felt like it.

"It was an accident." Jem said as he didn't plan on talking to her for that long.

"Nala, is yours okay?" He asked as Nala nodded.

"Yep! I'm good!" She said as Jem smiled.

"Thats all I care about then." He said as he noticed Robyn Hill's face had shifted slightly for a second.

"You alright there?" He asked as he didn't want to appear uncivil.

"Oh I'm sorry, and who is this?" She asked as she kneeled down to look at Robyn.

"I'm Nala!" She said as Robyn gave her a warm smile.

"And who is this? Your bodyguard?" She asked as Nala shook her hand.

"Oh no! This is my dad!" Nala giggled as Jem saw Robyn's expression change for a bit.

Jem didn't have a good feeling about this. But he decided to just let it go. He was probably just letting his own bias get to him. Just because he hated her as a character and found her annoying didn't mean she was going to try something stupid.

"Yeah, tell you what Sweetie, your moms gonna be wondering where we are, so we'll head back after we're done here." Jem said as he nodded to Robyn Hill.

"See ya around." He said as he felt her softly grab his hand.

"Hang on, please I insist, let me buy you another cone, its the least I could do." She said as Jem didn't feel comfortable.

His eyes darted down to see her grabbing his hand. And already he had a bad feeling about this. He knew what she was doing. He looked and he could briefly see a hint of aura around her fingertips. Now that got him pissed.

"I'm afraid not, all I care about is if my daughters happy." He said as he saw the flash of green and her eyes quickly darting down.

"Ah, alright then." She said as she smiled at him.

In reality, Jem should have let it go.

He knew that the dog faunus from earlier thought it was weird he had a faunus daughter. She was probably just being cautious.

But then again, Jem really enjoyed being an asshole.

"Yeah, sorry that you couldn't catch me in a lie." He said as he saw the flash of shock go across her face, but like a trained politician, she learned to hide her emotions fast.

"I beg your pardon?" She said trying to cover it up.

"Cut the crap, I saw your aura flash, you were trying to see if I was lying." He said as her eyes widened.

"Uhm, I'm sorry I think you may be mistake-" He cut her off again.

"Oh please, you're not the best at keeping secrets, everyone here in Mantle knows about your semblance, on top of that, you're the second person whos been skeptical about a human having a faunus for a daughter." He narrowed his eyes at her.

"I could forgive your skepticism if you didn't obviously try to conceal the fact you were trying to catch me in a lie, showing that you know what you were doing was low." Why was Jem doing this?

He thought Jacques was an asshole, and Watts obviously helped him win. That being said, he had a distrust for politicians in general. Even the ones he voted for. And Robyn Hill was first and foremost a politician. So it was always fun to see one squirm.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean any harm. I just had to be sure."

"Nala...how about you go sit down for a bit, Daddy needs to have a conversation really quick." He said with a warm smile as Nala was completely oblivious to what was going on.

"Okay!" She went and sat in a nearby booth happily licking her ice cream cone as Jem turned back to Robyn.

"You had to be sure, but that wasn't a good enough sign?" He honestly didn't believe her.

"What did you think I kidnapped her? If that was the case why would I bring her here? That makes zero sense." He said as he was going to see how long he could keep this up.

"Look Sir, I'm sorry its just that its very rare that you see a human with an adopted faunus daughter, so I just was trying to-" She was cut off again.

"So because its rare that means that every human with a faunus child is kidnapping?" That made her balk a bit.

"No! I didn't mean it like that, I just meant-"

"If you didn't mean it like that, then why bother with your lie detector semblance at all? What is it the way I look? Do I look suspicious?" He asked as Robyn was trying to defuse the situation.

But Jem was enjoying this.

"Look, maybe you had good intentions, but it is honestly insulting. Now I can forgive that, but I absolutely hate liars." And that sealed the deal.

What better way to screw with a lady with a lie detector semblance than to call her a liar.

"Sir, I assure you I am as honest as can be." Robyn was not enjoying this.

"Yeeaaaahhhh I doubt that, 1. You're a politician, you're all professional liars and 2. How can I believe you when you literally just tried to lie to me to cover your own ass?" Jem said as he had enough of this.

Truth was he could only screw with her so long, and despite him disliking her as a character he wasn't going to sit here and just bash her the whole time. He never liked bashing stories on fanfiction, he always figured they were just covers for deep seated frustrations that authors had with characters that they couldn't stand.

Sort of like what he was doing just a few seconds ago, but on a much more unhealthy level.

"Okay sweetie we're going!" Jem said as he walked over and put Nala on her shoulders.

"Okay! Bye Miss Hill!" Nala said as Robyn just awkwardly waved.

As soon as they were out the door, Jem just let out a sigh of relaxation.

"Daddy, did you have to do that?" Nala asked as she personally liked Robyn.

At least from what her father had allowed her to watch from the tv show that she was apparently a part of.

"In reality no, but sweetie the older I get, the more you realize that sometimes you just got to be an asshole. I was just lucky that I knew enough about her to mess with her." He said as he was certain if it dragged on then she would have eventually gotten her footing.

"Mom was right when she said you didn't like politicians." Nala said as Jem nodded.

"I like them just fine when they serve the people...but when they don't..." Jem looked down to his weapon that had collapsed into a fanny pack on his waist.

The aptly named 'Ruby Ridge'

"Lets just say when they don't that bad things happen." He said as had his own trust issues with the government.

Ruby Ridge was a shit show. Waco was even worse, David Koresh was a scumbag who deserved to be taken down, but that operation had gone so wrong that it wasn't a surprise law enforcement agencies across the country used it as an example of 'What not to do'. (1)

"Support Politicians when they do good, but hammer the hell out of them when they screw you over. But the Truth is chances are they'll always be screwing you over. " Was what his Dad said.

And despite the fact that Robyn Hill was supposed to be a champion for the people of Mantle, he was still skeptical over her. She seemed far too rash in the show for someone who was supposed to be a leader. She chilled out after the volume finale after Clover was killed, but before then he just couldn't stand her character. But he had his fun for the day. Who knows, maybe he would run into her again and they could get off on the right foot next time. After all, she had a pretty shitty first impression with most of Team RWBY, maybe their second meeting would be similar.

"You're really not mad about the ice cream?" Nala asked as Jem smirked.

"Yeeaahh about that." He rubbed the back of his head really quick.

"In reality, I probably should have taken the offer, but eh, its too late to turn back now." He said as he already left. No sense in going back now.

"Besides, we really need to get back to your mom." He said as they got ready to head towards a shuttle craft.

He didn't know why, but he felt like that whole conversation with Robyn had really helped him get rid of some of the frustration he had with the show. Now all he needed was to find a way to get the people of Mantle armed so that they could take care of themselves in case Atlas abandoned them like in the show.

But how?

He thought about it for a second.

"Hmmm, I wonder if they got 3D Printers here?" (2)

(1) As I said before, I really don't trust politicians, sure I voted for Trump, but I didn't agree with him on two things 1. The bump stock ban and 2. The 'Take the guns first, due process 2nd" He dropped the ball on those two.

And its really hard to look any any politician these days and think they give a damn, even Bernie Sanders who champions himself as a hero for the working class couldn't care less. Fitting that his initials are 'BS'

As for Waco, as I said, David Koresh was a psycho and in my opinion a false prophet, but the 76 deaths cannot be excused. As for what I said when 'They're used as examples of what not to do' That part is actually true. The FBI and ATF uses it as a reminder of their own failures as well as a teaching tool to try and avoid that again

Not that its doing the ATF any good, seems like their list of failures GREATLY exceeds their accomplishments if they have any.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike most Federal agencies, but the ATF is the one I dislike the most.
