Okay guys, so had to retire a pair of work boots I bought ten years ago. But I also got to pick up another box of ammo at farm and fleet while I was at it. So it balanced out. Anytime you make a trip to a store, and they sell ammo, you should pick up a box. It helps you stock up without going crazy.

If you're gonna prep for anything but you don't want to spend too much in one place at one time, start off small, a box of ammo here and there, some emergency food every once in awhile. It builds up.

Robyn Hill's Office

"You can't be serious right now." Robyn Hill assumed Jem was running as a joke.

Not only was he actually taking this serious, but his campaign speech yesterday had gotten free media attention, which meant that now more people were aware of him. And his speech had a positive effect on the people of Mantle. Personally she found it annoying. Just some crazy, out of town cowboy throwing a monkey wrench in the whole operation. She didn't dislike the guy, but he was too much of a wildcard. And he was going to take votes away from her. She was still the most favorable candidate amongst the others, but she still thought that Jem was a joke and he could possibly cause her to lose in favor of one of the others who didn't care about the people.

"Sorry Miss Hill, but his speech was well received." Fiona said as there was footage of Jem currently walking in one of the poorer neighborhoods with some members of lost liberty flanking his sides, they were currently talking to residents about the problems facing them.

While she herself was no fan of the career politicians that made up the council, Jem was inexperienced and had no idea how to be a politician. It took a lot more than guts to help the people.

"He's a cartoon character." Robyn said as she looked out the window.

He also wasn't even originally from Mantle! Its true he was technically a resident based on his records. But he didn't live down in Mantle! If she didn't know any better he was just running to piss her off!

The TV cut away to a news report bulletin.

Lisa Lavender was on the scene.

"In other news, recent polling has shown that Jeremiah Cotton has grown in popularity in a short amount of time." Lisa said as she was on a panel with a bunch of other journalists and politifical commentators.

"Thats right Lisa, its very rare that an unknown is able to gain this much of a following in so little time, its something we haven't seen in any of the kingdoms before." Robyn took notice that this reporter looked a little like a potato.

"Personally I think the only reason he's getting so much attention is due to his extremist philosophy." The other reporter said as he played segments of Jem's speech.

Specifically showing stills where he was open carrying his revolver.

"The man is open carrying a weapon in a campaign speech! If he was a registered huntsman, a soldier or even a police officer, that wouldn't be an issue, but hes just a common civilian brazenly carrying a gun amongst innocent people. That doesn't paint the picture of a man whose for the people so much as someone who is willing to use violence against them!" Robyn was listening to the report, obviously she thought it was a little ridiculous, but she could also use this to her advantage.

"With all due respect Lion Skelter, he's helped clean up crime in the city by advocating for the peoples right to take their security into their own hands." Another panelist said as Skelter just did a arrogant chuckle as if he was brushing off all of the opinions of his co hosts.

"With all due respect he's probably put the city at more risk of crime! If everyone starts getting guns, then why should anyone trust the police? He's blatantly telling people 'You are your own first responder' What? Are we just going to ignore the fact he's directly insulting police and the huntsman who protect us?" Lisa Lavender almost seemed to take offense to that bit.

"Lion, he's never said anything bad about the police or huntsmen, in fact based on what we've seen so far, his only criticism is that you can't always rely on them for help when you really need it. Before crime started to go down, police were overworked, shouldn't we be celebrating he's been making civilians safer as well as removing a giant stone off the back of the police?"

"Oh so we should all just start carrying and turning vigilante? Don't be ridiculous Lisa." Robyn turned off the tv.

She may have understood the press had their place in life. But damn could they be annoying fear mongering dickheads.

Sadly however, she was paying attention to his words. And she could use that to her advantage.

"All I need to do is portray him like a madman, and I won't have to worry about him being an issue anymore."

She smirked to herself as she thought about it.

"And that shouldn't be hard at all, he already seems crazy in the eyes of a lot of people."

Jem

"Man, not gonna lie that got me nervous!" Jem said as he had finished another rally that day and had just finished brushing his teeth getting ready for bed.

Seriously the crowd had some crazy energy. He kept worrying he was going to say something and make himself look like a jackass stuttering on stage. But luckily there were times he was able to take a break and gather his throughts throughout the speech. He still couldn't believe he was even doing this in the first place. At first he figured 'fuck it, lets give it a shot.' But now he was seriously running and now he couldn't decide if he should hate himself for running for office, or love himself for being a middle finger to the politics of the council.

Maybe both? Both is good.

Winter hadn't been too enthusiastic about it. Nala thought it was cool. Grandpa Reggie supported him but also gave him shit about running for office. Which he was happy about, if you had relatives running for office then you didn't just support them blindly, they're still politicians, which meant they could easily still be a fuckup.

"You were nervous? I'm the one who's got a boyfriend running for council." Winter said as this whole mess had been a nightmare.

It hadn't been long before Jem's relationship with Winter had been made public, and even less time after that for the media to find out about their adopted child. She swore she was never going to get a moments peace again with the reporters, and the media constantly running segments about their personal lives. Luckily Jem had been able to keep Nala out of the spotlight.

Mostly because the reporters had tried to intrude on a private family outing. And Jem had taken the two reporters out back and told them that if they ever tried to intrude on a private outing again that he would shove that camera so far up their asses that they would be able to film a documentary about how the digestive system worked. Now they only bothered him when he was out by himself.

She on the other hand did have to deal with her own share of reporters. She had dealt with this kind of thing before dealing with being the original heiress to the SDC. But now they were trying to question her 'motives' in adopting a faunus child considering her company's history. She grit her teeth at that. Tabloid journalists trying to say anything to piss her off and get a reaction so they could run it.

"Hey come on, it ain't so bad. Just think, I'm finally getting out of the house to do something." He said as she rolled her eyes.

"I meant like getting a real job, but running for office." She shot back as Jem laughed.

"I love how you just implied being a politician isn't a real job." He chuckled as she deadpanned at him.

"You literally say that all the time!"

"Oh I know I do, its just funny hearing you say it, its almost like I'm looking into a feminine mirror right now." He said as she rolled her eyes at him.

"Come on babe, worst case scenario is people get more inspired to take up arms for themselves, best case is I get elected...or should that be the worst case scenario?" Jem said to himself as Winter just snuggled up to him as he settled into the bed.

"As long as my father doesn't run for council, I'm happy." Winter said as Jem smirked.

"Personally, I want your dad to run, can you imagine how hilarious that would be? I take his daughter AND the election from him? That would be priceless." Jem had often imagined that since he announced he was running.

The very thought of Jacques Schnee losing his shit as he found out that Jem whooped his ass was a reoccurring dream he had been having.

That would honestly be the sweetest gift of all.

"Lets face it though, most likely Robyn is going to win the election now, all you've probably done is make her seem normal by comparison." Winter said as she was getting sleepy.

"Or lame by comparison, but hey its time for bed, so lets not think about it." Jem said as he yawned and held Winter tighter to his chest.

All that BS could wait for morning.
