Okay guys, Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I certainly did, and black friday was a GREAT day for the gun shop. I was very happy I volunteered to work there for extra hours. Plus I got myself some new binoculars for a good price. And I get paid today. So overall its been a good weekend.
Plus we're about to be busy for the next two weeks because a certain dipshit in chief said 'The idea that we still allow semi automatic weapons to be purchased is sick."
Boys I'll tell you this. Business is BOOMING.
Jem
Jem was walking up to the house with Willow in tow. She had been pretty quiet during the walk back. She had been sober for awhile now. So she was aware of everything that was going on. Its just that she still didn't feel as comfortable around him as she could. Jem was going to have to try and do something to get into her good graces. Sadly he wasn't sure what that could be. His first instinct was to beat up Jacques, but something told him that beating up his political opponent before the debates wasn't a good idea. He just hoped Jacques didn't come looking for her.
"Well here we are." He said as he opened the door.
He turned to make sure Willow was okay.
"Are you alright Miss Schnee?" He asked as he avoided using her first name for now.
He didn't want to risk pissing her off.
"I'm fine...its just...I haven't seen my daughter in so long." She said as Jem looked back.
"Do you need a moment before we go inside?" He asked as she paused.
"No I'm fine. Did you let her know I was coming?" She asked as Jem nodded.
"Yes, Weiss is also on the way. I figured you would want a family reunion." He said as she let off a small smile.
"Thank you, I appreciate that." She said as she walked up to the door.
Only to see that Jem wasn't following her in.
"Aren't you coming?" She asked as Jem shook his head.
"Honestly Maam, I think you guys deserve this time to yourself. I'm just getting a change of clothes but then I have to go run some more errands. But I'll be back to cook for lunch." That seemed to surprise Willow.
"You cook?" She asked surprised that he was doing that.
"Well, we take turns. But when it comes to grilling, I always cook." He said as Willow looked in.
"Is your daughter here?" Willow asked as Jem shook his head.
"Shes currently off with my mom." He asked as she took a deep breath and went inside.
Jem snuck around the back and got a change of clothes and his Colt Anaconda. He didn't want to get in between the moment between mother and daughter. He could see their shadows in the window though. Both seemed to be frozen in time for what seemed to be an hour until you could see Willow's shadow slowly step forward and embrace her daughter. It did put a smile on his face to see that already they were off to a good start. He was worried it was going to be one of those drama situations where the daughter had a screaming match about 'oh you forgot about me yada yada yada' but looks like Winter had missed her mother just as much as her mother missed her.
Plus the fact that she had been sober for a few hours, and Jem had told Winter to throw out any liquor in the house before he came back would help keep her off the booze for a bit. Some sober clarity could do her good. And he had no doubt after his own mother came back with Nala that she would be fine. Jem quickly took a shower and changed into his work clothes for the day, he strapped his Colt Anaconda to his belt and smiled. The one good thing about Remnant is that they didn't care if you open carried. WHich made him very happy considering he had always wanted to conceal carry a 44 magnum, but it was such a pain to do in any other time of the year except Winter time.
He also loaded up two little RUGER LCP Max's into his pockets for a little bit extra. He loved these little things.
"Its funny how the guns I'm carrying are on two complete opposite sides of the spectrum." He said to himself as he put on his boots and got ready to go.
He could hear Winter and Willows voices. They were unusually soft. He knew Winter could be calm and collected when she wanted to be. But it was very rare to hear her sound so soft spoken. She must have recognized the stress her mother was under. After all, he had no doubt that she went through something similar with her father. He knew Jacques was a dick. And now that Willow was here with them, he could troll him to his hearts content.
The first debate was tonight. So he couldn't wait for that.
He stepped out into the cool crisp air and cracked his neck.
"Lets see." He took a minute to look over his current clothes. It was what he was going to be wearing all day and what he would wear to the debates.
He was just dressed as his normal self. His Black rancher jacket, a black stetson, his work boots, blue jeans, and his gun belt.
Well okay, he never used to dress like this before he came to Remnant. The only time he got to dress like this was when he did a brief stint helping a friend of his in Texas. God he loved that state so much. Not as much as he loved Alaska, but it was high up there.
"Lets see, Jacques and Robyn are probably going to win the same thing as always...hey wait a minute, I can understand Ruby and the others having their own combat outfits and thats why they usually wear the same thing everyday. But why in the world do the civilians of Remnant always dress the same?" Surely they had other options?
Jem decided not to think too much about it.
Later that Night
Jem was out on the debate stage. And already he felt out of place. He knew he was representing the little guys. But Jacques came out with an insane amount of hair gel and even Robyn Hill was dressed up a bit. Oh well, it is what it is. He was just happy to get to it all.
"Okay everyone thank you for coming to the debate, we'll start off with Miss Hill for opening remarks." The moderator turned to Hill with a smile on his face.
"Miss Hill, you're seen by the citizens of Mantle as a bleeding heart, you surely exemplify everything about this kingdom that makes it great, if elected, what is your plan to make things even better than you've already have?" Jem couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
"Jesus, if she had a dick would you be offering to suck it?" He thought to himself as he tried to resist the urge to roll his eyes.
"Well, as I always have, I would continue to fight for the people of Mantle. I would continue my work with the happy hunttresses, but now that I would be in a position for policy change, I would gladly influence new legislation to promote growth and oppurtunity for the people of Mantle." She said as the moderator turned to Jacques.
"And Mr. Schnee, you're well known as a philanthropist, you've led the SDC for years now bringing it to new heights and expanding your reach throughout the kingdoms, how would you make things better?" The moderator said as Jacques spoke back after dusting off his lapel.
"Well, as head of the SDC, I am always willing to expand, after elected, I will loosen certain laws, allowing us to build more facilities providing employment for various Mantle Families, I would prefer to have the people have their place of work as close as possible to their residences so as to reduce costs and bring some much needed growth to those impoverished communities." Jem was actually surprised by his answer.
But if there was one thing he knew about Politicians is that they knew exactly how to cover up their true intentions by making grandiose promises.
Didn't matter what political party it was, if it was too good to be true, chance are you were going to get screwed.
"Fantastic Mr. Schnee, and now to Mr. Cotton." The moderator's face changed as soon as he looked at Jem.
"Mr. Cotton, you're a stranger to Mantle, and you have spent most of your time here fear mongering the people and encouraging them to take up arms to defend themselves, you've put people into a panic, do you have any way of fixing the mess you caused?" Jem narrowed his eyes at the moderator.
So this was going to be one of THOSE debates.
"Well first things first, thats your own opinion, and having an opinion is like having a dick, its okay to have one but its not cool to shove it down everyone's throats."
At Jems House
"PFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!" Willow spit out her drink as she heard that and stared at the tv in shock.
"WHAT DID HE SAY?!" Winter asked as she couldn't believe it.
Jem was off to a bad start.
The Debate
The moderator had nothing to say. He was expecting a groveling apology, he wasn't expecting to get called out like that.
"Now if you were asking me what my plan was to make Mantle Great Again, well let me tell you this." Jem said as he looked the moderator in the eyes.
"I didn't fear monger anyone, in fact I would say the only ones doing the fear mongering were you media hacks trying to slander me and paint me as someone whos trying to undermine all the work the first responders of Mantle do everyday. Which is the biggest crock of horseshit I've ever heard. If you took the time to actually listen to any of my rallies, you would know that we support the first responders of Mantle, but as you can see from your own crime rates, they're way too busy. Ever since I started advocating for people to carry, crime rates have steadily gone down. I have never advocated for irresponsible ownership, I always make sure all my guys that I train are responsible. Now maybe you're projecting your own insecurities onto the crowd because you can't trust yourself with a gun. But I trust the people of Mantle to make their own decisions when it comes to their freedom and security." Jem said as the crowd was silent.
This was going to be a lonnnggggg night.
