Okay guys, So I'm back with another chapter. Its not going to be long, just something to keep the story going. I know RWBY volume 9 has been released, and I'm keeping up with the episodes. But honestly, RWBY doesn't have the same magic as it did for me in college. I'm literally just watching because for once in my life I want to start a show and finish it.
Anyways, I'm currently paying off a Mosin Nagant right now.
If you want an accurate look into my life look up 'Colion Noir: Why you shouldn't get into guns' on youtube. It describes my life perfectly.
Also Colion Noir is a great representative of the 2nd Amendment.
Jem
It had been weeks since Jem had taken office. And honestly? He didn't really do much. Surprisingly the council didn't convene often to discuss policy. Besides a few major decisions, there hadn't been nearly as much work as he thought. It was driving him nuts. So he would constantly go visit the communities of Mantle to check in on them. He needed to do something to take his mind off of the stagnating politics of the kingdom.
He had visited his grandfather who had been attempting to create a new special operations detachment of the Atlesian military. The Ironwood Scouts. In reality, he was disappointed with the name. But he couldn't convince General Ironwood to try and name the new unit 'Selous Scouts' it had no meaning to the people of Atlas. And even so, nobody had passed his grandfather's selection process.
As sad as it was, The Atlas military was surprisingly lacking in field survival skills. Modern technology had made things so easy for resupply that having to live off the land was not necessary. So Reggie was starting from scratch with a lot of the people who tried to become part of the Ironwood Scouts.
After he had finished visiting his grandfather. He wanted to go help the Indigos. But surprisingly Whitley had REALLY taken to the rancher's life well. When he visited a week ago. He barely recognized the boy. Proudly open carrying his revolver with dirt under his fingernails and a piece of straw in his mouth he was chewing on. It almost brought a tear to Jem's eye. Also he saw how the Indigo's daughter would sometimes sneak peaks at Whitley when he wasn't looking. It was actually cute to see. Who would have ever guessed that things would be going the way they were.
Him and Winter were still going strong. Nala was doing well in school. Life seemed to be going overly well. He almost felt like he wasn't really necessary. Crime was going down in the city. And his initiative for self reliance had taken off.
He had planted the seed for 'Victory Gardens' for the people of Mantle. Because one of the things that could cause society collapse was a lack of food.
As much as he hated Vladimir Lenin and communism there was one saying that stuck out 'Every society is three meals away from chaos.' Whether or not he actually said that, he wasn't sure. But sadly it was true.
When a people who had never known nothing but abundance their whole life suddenly saw that the food stopped coming, they would go crazy. He had seen it happen multiple times in his own world throughout history. Soviet Union, Ukraine, China, Zimbabwe. Crazy things happened when food wasn't around. (1)
Jem had planted the seed for victory gardens for one reason. Because if anything like the show was to happen again, he wanted the people to be able to feed themselves. An important part of keeping morale was to decrease reliability on the government and being able to be more self sufficient. A dependent society would be a weak society. Jem obviously didn't want the supply chains to collapse or anything silly like that, but the fact of the matter was that another 'fall of beacon' could happen at any time. And with them wandering into the unknown, he didn't want to risk Mantle falling hard on its face.
He knew he couldn't stop it, but at the very least he could try to lessen the damage.
Hard times were coming, he was certain of that.
AJ
"This is some bullshit." AJ said as he couldn't believe how long it took him to get to Atlas.
First he was wandering in the desert for what felt like forty years. Then when he finally gets to Beacon to try and apologize to his cousin, the whole attack happens and his cousin disappeared for who knows how long. And then months of searching later, he hears the big news that Atlas has a new councilman and it turns out to be Jem. He swore to God that he was living in some fucked up movie.
He didn't have a problem with his cousins views anymore, he just couldn't believe it. The miracle on ice with Team USA vs Team USSR had nothing on the underdog story that had been relayed across the kingdoms.
"Well no one ever said life was easy." Millina said as she had been traveling with AJ for months now.
He had grown up a lot from the fat man child she first met.
"All I want to do is run into Jem so we can bury the hatchet and I can go home." He said as he was missing Earth.
However, the only ones who knew how to get home was Jem and Ironwood. He knew he wasn't crazy when he saw real life RWBY characters. The biggest pain in the ass was trying to find those characters to begin with. Didn't help that he didn't have any Lien. Neither did Millina, her village was isolated from the rest of Remnant, so they didn't care about Lien. So AJ was living life as a pauper on his own road to redemption.
He hated it, but it was good for his character.
Didn't mean he wasn't going to bitch about it from time to time.
"What I would give for a burger right now..." For some reason all he could think about was wanting to go to burger king.
Not a fancy burger place, nothing too expensive, just plain old burger king. It was all he could think about.
(1) Most of those countries lost millions of people due to famine, Soviet Union due to Stalinization and seizing farms from 'Kulaks' or people not loyal to the communists. Zimbabwe due to seizing land and giving it to people loyal to Zanu PF. China which scared sparrows away which led to millions staring due to bug infestation. Basically, it causes chaos.
