12 Grimmauld Place

Third Person Pov

A young girl with rich sepia brown skin and thick, buoyant ash brown & umber curls sat upon the plush red couch laughing as her favorite pair of red headed twins played exploding snaps in front of her. The slight scattered freckles that rested against the bridge of her nose were highlighted by the small golden hoop in her right nostril and the various silver, diamond, and Phoenix flint piercings in her ears glinted in the light.

Violetta Marie Bonham was damn near a carbon copy of her mother Genevieve. Stubborn, sarcastic, and loyal to a fault; the girl was born to be a Gryffindor. She despised authority and went out of her way to raise a middle finger in the face of pure blood aristocracy. Her grandparents had come to terms with the fact that they were once again raising a full fledged, go against the grain rebel; and decided instead of trying to force her into being a "proper witch", they'd embrace her individuality and nourish it. Her namesake great gran Violetta Beauvais always said, "why go through life being normal and passionless, when you could be different and electrifying."

Most people saw the 15 year old as the wild Bonham girl who only cared about flying on her broom, getting caught in whatever trouble her and the other three members of the "golden quartet" were mixed up in, and causing mischief with the Weasley twins; unaware of the fact that she was damn near a genius, she had an eidetic memory, an IQ of 260 and was the top of her class at Hogwarts with Hermione following at a close second. She had even been working on a way to be able to use magic around technology without it being blown to high hell and was already pretty close to figuring it out.

"Oi, you sods your mum's gonna be pissed if you burn the carpet again."

She spoke up getting their attention as Hermione came and sat next to her, while Ron, Harry, and Ginny joined the twins on the floor in front of the fireplace.

Grimmauld place was packed for the winter holiday, seeing as it was headquarters for the Order it only seemed right that everyone congregated here during break; especially since Arthur Weasley had been attacked while on watch at the DOM.

"That my dear Letty is precisely the point, she's been so pent up since dad got back from St. Mungo's," Fred smirked up at her before George chimed in, "She's driving him up the wall with all her hovering. This way she'll be more focused on coming after us, and will let him take a breath."

"How noble of you." Ginny stated, rolling her eyes, making the twins smirk.

"Thank you dear sister." The terror twins vocalized creepily in unison as usual before roughly slapping down 4 more cards that resulted in a small fire.

"Boys! I've told you about playing that damned game on a flammable surface! I've already fixed that carpet twice since this morning!" Letty was pretty sure the entire block could hear Mrs. Weasley's rant. As sweet and caring as she was, Molly Weasley was also legitimately scary when she wanted to be.

"That's our cue," George started, "Shall we Gred," Fred nodded smiling, "We shall Forge." They both apparated out of the room as soon as their mother walked in, making her pinch the bridge of her nose in irritation, as all of the remaining teenagers had to hold in their laughter.

Letty's Pov

"Pup? Do you have a second?" I looked over my shoulder and saw Sirius leaning against the wall holding something wrapped in blue wrapping paper.

"I'll be back." I whispered to Hermione making her nod before getting up and walking over to my godfather. To say I was surprised to find out that my mother named an alleged mass murder as my godparent is an understatement. I was just as upset as Harry and equally as volatile as he was once we heard, but now that I know the truth about him I've never been more thankful.

Even though I didn't have a father, Sirius was just as good as the real thing. Since we've met he's told me countless stories about mum; stories that my grandparents either didn't know or didn't want me to take as permission to go do something reckless. Apparently my mother was a bit audacious and over adventurous.

We walked into the drawing room and sat on one of the black couches settled in front of the fireplace before he handed me the blue wrapped package.

"I didn't want to give you this in front of everyone, I already gave Harry his this morning." Sirius spoke softly, looking a bit reminiscent.

I gently tore the paper before revealing a photo album, the cover had a Wizarding picture of mum, aunt Lily, and Neville's mum Alice huddled together smiling and laughing.

I gently traced over the photo before opening it, the first picture was of mum sticking out her tongue crossed eyed, holding up bunny ears behind a young smirking Sirius' head.

"That was taken our first year. I had always seen Gen at Wizengamot meetings when she would go with your grandfather, but we never spoke until that first day on the train," Sirius spoke up turning my attention to him, "Within the first 5 minutes of us meeting we had started a contest to see who could stuff the most chocolate frogs in their mouth."

Both of us snorted at that fact seeing as when I first met Harry and Ron we went on a sugar bender almost completely cleaning out the trolley.

The photo on the next page made me laugh. It was mum and uncle Remus on a broom; she was sitting in front with a manic smile on her face, while he looked downright terrified.

"Remus always said that your mother flew too fast, and had no sense of direction. She did a Wronski Feint just to freak him out, he looked like he was going to piss himself and puke all at the same time. He swore he'd never get on a broom again." Sirius howled and my eyes started to water from laughing.

As I flipped through the next couple pages I had seen mum, aunt Lily, Alice, and the marauders minus the sniveling rat through their Hogwarts years. But I paused once I landed on a picture of my very pregnant mother.

"She looks so young." I could feel my eyes starting to well up as I stared at the photo. I didn't have any memories of my mother, seeing as she was killed when I was 1 by that disgusting prick Antonin Dolohov. Growing up all I had were pictures and the memories my grandparents and my mother's cousin Kingsley were willing to share; but over the summer break I was snooping through my mothers old chest and found journals that started back before she got pregnant with me.

"She was young. She was only 20 when she got pregnant with you. She was scared shitless, but your mother wasn't one to back down from a challenge. She was determined to do the best by you," My godfather gave me a fond smile and helped wipe my stray tears, "She really did love you pup. More than anything. She just wanted you to be safe."

I sighed softly closing the book before speaking up.

"I found her journals. The ones she kept when she was in America," Sirius solemnly nodded for me to continue, "I haven't told Nanan or Papa that I found them. I know that they hid it for a reason, I know about my father, that he was a muggle."

Sirius took a deep breath before he spoke up, "From what she told me, she left once she found out that she was pregnant. The war was at its peak and bringing him in would have just put him in danger. She said it was the hardest decision she ever had to make, but it was for the best. Are you going to search for him?"

I leaned back rubbing my forehead, "I know who he is. I've seen him on the telly at Hermione's house and in the muggle magazines. He's some sort of big shot I guess. But no, I'm not going to go looking for him. I understand why she didn't tell him, and I respect her decision. It's still too dangerous and I feel like things are only going to get worse before they get better. So no, it's better to just leave him alone."

"I understand pup, and I support you. Just know that I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure we get through this. And once this is all over we can be a real family."
