The car was filled with silence as they drive down the road. Kagome couldn't put her words together and Inuyasha had his mind on other things. "Now for the real reason. Aside from using Shoto as a body guard for her, we would like you to train her." He knew that his brother knew how Endeavor was as a mentor and asking him so casually to train Kagome had made his skin crawl.
"Are you fucking ins-"
"Quiet, Inuyasha. This is for her own good."
"Is her training with Aizawa now enough?" Endeavor questioned with a raised eyebrow. Why he always had to have flames was something Inuyasha had been asking for a while, yet never seemed to get an answer (not that he actually asked in the first place).
"His training was for her mental strength whereas her partner's quirk is Mindcontrol. You would be growing her physical strength and endurance." Inuyasha had tuned out the rest, a bad feeling setting in his stomach.
"-yasha? Hello? Earth to Inuyasha," Kagome waves her hand in his face, having been stopped at a dead intersection for two light cycles.
"Shit, sorry," he sighs and rubs his face. "Sesshomaru wants you to start training with Endeavor and his son, but-"
"You don't want me to," she finishes for him.
"Yeah, exactly," he answers as he grips the steering wheel. "After the bullshit he pull with Touya, why the fuck would Sesshomaru think it would be ok?!"
"Shoto told me about that." Those blue eyes appear in her mind again, a chill going down her spine. "How he went too far. Touya didn't deserve that…" She could hear her heartbreaking at the thought. Being alone and everyone thinking you were dead, yet living in hiding and full of rage. Just how badly are you hurting?
"No, he didn't." Inuyasha slows down as they get near the dorms, pulling to a complete stop in front of them. "Stay safe ok? The Demon Law can only do so much in protecting you from the Hero Society." He turns to her and gently places his hand on the back of her head and pulls her close, their foreheads touching.
"I'm just doing what I think is right." Kagome closes her eyes at the contact.
"I know. I trust you, Kagome," he nearly whispers out as he gently kisses her forehead and lets her go.
"Inuyasha…" she begins, tears swelling in her eyes at his affirmations and support.
"If you need me, for anything. Just call." He unlocks the car and watches her get out, still in a daze from his words. Kagome waves at him with a smile before closing the door and heading inside. She waves to her friends as she bee-lines towards the elevators.
Exhaustion hits her like a train as she enters her room. Peeling off her clothes from the day and flopping on her bed, she lets out a sigh of relief. Her bed was like her only true friend at this point and nothing felt better than crawling underneath her blanket and drifting to sleep. While there were many things for her mind to keep her awake, her body took priority over everything. After getting into a comfortable position, she remembers she still had yet to plug her phone in to charge for the night. 20:34 reads from her lock screen, the picture of herself and Hawks greeting her. A small smile plays on her lips as she sets her phone down and turns over to sleep. Her body finally relaxes in the darkness of her room as the waves of natural melatonin wash over her.
Until her phone starts ringing. Kagome is immediately pulled from her unconscious state as she reaches behind her and smacks her phone trying to grab it. This causes the phone to decline the call while she unplugs the cord. She looks over the screen with knitted eyebrows, seeing the missed call as *UNKNOWN* and the time reading 23:46. Rubbing her eyes, she rolls over to plug her phone back in. A few seconds later *UNKNOWN* tries calling again. With a groan, Kagome declines the call and sets her phone down.
Without skipping a beat, the ring sounds off again. Kagome sits up with a frustrated huff and finally answers. "Hello?" she asks, annoyance thick in her voice.
"Aw, come on Princess. Here I thought you missed me~"
"I'm going to sleep. Because of you, I wasn't able to get much last night," Kagome groans as she rubs her face.
"Well, when you say it like th-"
"You know what I mean!" she quickly cuts him off as heat rises to her face. "Now goodnight!" Kagome hangs up before letting the villain respond and all but slams her phone down. Another call comes through just as she goes to lie back down. "You have got to be kidding me." Decline.
Ring.
Decline.
Ring.
Decline.
Ring.
"I swear to the Gods, this better be important," she snaps out.
"Oh trust me, sweetheart. It's important."
"Fine. Fine! You win."
"Great~" She could practically see his smirk through the phone, a chill running through her. "You know where to go." The line goes dead after that as Kagome huffs out in annoyance. Getting dressed, Kagome grabs a black hoodie and black leggings. Better to not draw too much attention to herself as she walks in the middle of the night. Pocketing her phone, she silently makes her way downstairs and out of the dorms. Once out of sight of the dorms, Kagome takes off in a sprint.
The cool night air hits her face as she speeds down the road, feeling more awake with each step she takes. Her hair flies wildly behind her as she picks up her speed, wanting to test her limits. Before she knew it, she was standing in front of the old abandoned building. Taking a deep breath, she realized she didn't feel the usual burn in her lungs after running. Fixing her hair to split down the middle and rest on her shoulders, she heads into the building.
"That excited you had to run?" a deep voice echoes with a chuckle.
"I could be asleep you know? I've had one hell of a day and want to go to bed," Kagome crosses her arms. "Not play games at fucking midnight."
"Indulge me then." Dabi walks out from the shadows with a smirk. "But I guess I could make this quick then, Princess."
"Wow, thanks," Kagome rolls her eyes as she leans against one of the cracked walls.
"So you're a Sour Patch Kid tonight?" His aura danced with confidence and pride, yet there was pain and need entwining ever so slightly as he moves to stand in front of her. "Let's see how long it takes to make you sweet." Dabi's voice drops deeper as his lips stretch to a wide smile, his staples pulling at his skin and nearly drawing blood.
Kagome shivers at the man looming over her while her hands instinctively rush to heal his opening wounds. Dabi grabs her wrists and pins them to the wall beside her. "I tho-"
"Oh, no, baby girl," he chuckles out. "We need to talk before you can start that." His breath hitting her from how close he was to her, Kagome was only able to nod in understanding. She felt as if she was drowning in his aura like he was trying to consume her whole and nearly knocking the air from her lungs. "What have you been doing to me?" The intensity of his stare was overwhelming, her mouth going dry as she finds herself unable to answer him. "And don't beat around the fucking bush." Dabi's grip on her tightens as he speaks.
"Healing, like you've asked," Kagome forces herself to say. "I promise not to have done anything more." She holds his gaze the entire time she speaks, hoping he will take it as enough confidence not to ask any more questions.
"Liar," he hisses out as his hands start heating up from his sudden anger. Of course, she knew more than she was willing to tell him. "I don't want you hiding shit from me, Kagome. Now, what is it?"
The way he said her name made her head spin. From all the pet names Dabi says, she never knows when he'll actually say her name, but the way it rolled from his tongue gave her goosebumps. And like a spell, she is hooked on his every word. "It depends on what you want to know…" her voice says for her, unable to stop the words from leaving her lips.
"Your quirk."
"I thought Shippo-"
"I know you're a damn Miko, but there's more to it and you fucking know it." Dabi moves his knee to push between her legs. "I'll keep you here all night if that's what it takes for you to fucking tell me."
"I-I merged with the Jewel the night you kidnapped me," she stutters out, the physical contact distracting her.
"There it is~" he purrs out. "That's my good girl. Now, what does that jewel do?"
"Grant unspeakable strength to the user," she mumbles, trying desperately to look away from him.
"And since you've 'merged'?"
"I'm still figuring that out." She could barely speak above a whisper at this point. "Have I done something wrong?" Kagome couldn't understand why she was acting this way with his, why she felt so helpless against his touch. The thought of him makes her blood boil yet having him in front of her, staring into her soul and demanding answers he had no business having, she has no control no matter how desperately she fights for it.
Dabi has to stop the sharp inhale at her words and that innocent gleam in her eyes. He wanted to ruin it, watch that naive light fade from her eyes and ignite that fire. "Have you?" Dabi moves both of her wrists to his right hand as he speaks. "Believe you should be punished?" He brings his knee up more, almost lifting her off her feet. His left hand rested on her waist. Dabi was teasing himself more than he could to her. Feening for her, begging for her to come to see him so soon after their last visit. But here he was, refusing to let her touch him in any way and making a mess of her. Her hair slowly getting tangled from the fabric rubbing against it, her flushed face without an ounce of fear, and her eyes; God her fucking eyes; dilated from stimulation and begging for more.
"Only if my crimes are great enough." Kagome was indeed a mess in his hands. He made her forget who she was when he touched her, how she was a hero helping a villain. Everything she ever was going right out the window of her mind. Maybe it was the heat from his hand, but he made her feel more alive with each encounter than any fight could. It made her feel like a human, like a woman. "So what does the judge say? Am I guilty?" A chuckle passes Dabi's lips at her questions, letting go of her right hand and trailing his hand up her side, pushing up her hoodie in the process. Kagome's hand reaches for his face, her fingers brushing against his cheek as she tries not to focus on the heat rising in her from his touch.
Turning her attention to the strained staple closest to his mouth as her thumb grazes over it to heal him before it could reopen. Dabi leans into her touch, his hold on her wrist relaxing as he rests his head against her right shoulder. Letting out a shaken breath, focusing on her hand trailing down his neck and to his shoulder while slipping under his shirt. "What a cheapshot, Princess." His lips graze against her skin as he speaks. Dabi slides his hand to her back, pressing against her fully. "Now, what's your backup plan?" He moves his head away to look at her again, his gaze piercing into hers as he searches for an answer. Yet Kagome didn't have one, she could barely think from the daze he put her under. She couldn't find words to tell him how wrong this is, how dangerous this was; or maybe she didn't want to.
Her body speaks for her as she slips her wrist from his hold above her, her hand finding the back of his head. She gently runs her fingers through his dark locks, her nails just barely scratching against his scalp before gripping a fist full of his hair. Kagome's gaze is unwavering against his harsh stare, that fire beginning to spark in her eyes. "I never have a plan." Maybe it was the Jewel, or perhaps it was Dabi's influence on her, to blame for her boldness as she lifts her right leg to hook around his waist while balancing on his knee. "But that's what makes life exciting." With more contact, the more she could spread her Ki to him, healing him where her hands don't yet dare to wonder.
Dabi doesn't -can't- say anything back to her, his nerves feeling overwhelmed from the abundance of power coursing through him as he closes his eyes. His body felt hot, nearly too hot to handle against her. His left-hand moves to hold her thigh stable as his right goes to lift her other leg and presses her between himself and the wall. Feet off the ground and arms around his neck, Kagome was completely trapped under him. This is what he was craving, not her touch or quirk, but her. He was addicted to everything about her. "Fuck," he breathes out, the heat getting worse the lower down he focused.
The feeling is mutual as Kagome watches the flames appear at the tip of his ears and the smoke from each of his exhales. Her heart races in her chest at the realization of what she's doing, what position she was in, and that she was only making Dabi stronger. "We need to stop," she finds herself saying as she quits using her quirk. "I need to ge-"
"I didn't say you could fucking stop." His tone makes her blood run cold. "You're in no position to argue." Kagome slowly moves her hands to his chest, trying to find a way out of this situation. She realizes she took it too far when Dabi's eyes open and she finds the whites of his eyes more of an icy blue than what they should normally be. "Yesterday was cut short, so now you're going to make up for it, right Princess?"
"You won't be able to handle it," Kagome warns, beginning to push him away. Dabi smirks at her, holding onto her thighs tightly and digging his nails into her through her leggings. "It could overwhelm your nerves." Even if she wasn't sure if that was true or not, she didn't need him to know how demonic he was becoming because of her.
"I don't give a shit." He leans into where their noses are touching, daring her to test him. He knew how strong she made him after she healed him, he could easily overpower her if he needed to. "I'll keep you 'til dawn if I fucking want to." With a quick movement, he forces his lips onto hers. It felt electrifying for both parties, Kagomes' quirk coming through her kiss unwillingly like he was desperately trying to drink it in and she was water. She nearly falls under his pressure, his growing heat, yet the blue flames around them ground her in reality. It felt like a hot summer day against her skin but the smell of smoke and burning clothing told her they were consumed.
Kagome pushes against his chest with more strength than she thought she had as Dabi is forced to let of her legs and break their kiss from the air rushing out of his lungs. "This is what I mean!" she snaps as she hits her knees on the ground. "If you want my help-"
"Help," Dabi laughs as he cuts her off. "If I wanted help, I would have looked for it long ago." He was enraged at her audacity. How a little girl playing hero dared to deny him. "You, Princess, are my pet. And good pets obey their masters." He goes to close the distance between them again, not wanting to give her a chance to stand and hold her ground against him. Yet Kagome is faster to her feet than he expected. Being constantly knocked down, thrown around, forced on her knees, she knew better than to waste time.
"I'm no one's damn pet," she spits at him as she takes long strides toward him and pushes him back with a barrier. "And I'm sure as hell not yours!" Her anger was rising quickly from his comment, "I obey myself."
"Yet you come like a loyal dog." While he was right, she didn't want to acknowledge the fact. Only that she becomes worried when he does call for her, making her wonder just how far he had pushed himself.
"Ever think I might actually care! Not just for my friends that you threaten, but you!" The fire around them begins to die down at her words. Her energy output overpowered the air and suffocated the flames. Her rage was dancing around her like pink fire, brighter than any actual flame could get, and forcing Dabi to the ground from the sheer pressure she was putting out. "I could give up, run away from everything, but I don't! I know how much pain you are in, I know how far you like to push yourself! For fucks sake be a person instead of a fucking villain for once!" She couldn't figure out why she was saying these things to him, doubting he would even care how she actually felt about their situation.
Dabi wills himself to get back to his feet. Struggling but still managing to get back up. Yet he couldn't wrap his head around her words. Why would she claim to care after the bullshit he has been putting her through? Why give a damn for someone so full of hate and rage?
"You're not a monster, Dabi. You said it yourself," she speaks through his thoughts.
"And do you know what for sure? I could have been lying," he says calmly, dropping the predatory tone.
"I've met actual monsters, ones that never had a heart to begin with. But you?" Kagome stares into his eyes again, finding the icy blue on his white to be gone for now. She drops her barrier and her rage leaves her as she takes in his relaxing state. "You still have a heart even if you bury it so deep you forget it's there." She lifts her hand to cup his cheek, no energy following, just a gentle touch to show her certainty.
"Right," he laughs out in disbelief. "How fucking stupid can you be?"
"Enough to know that you didn't die in that fire."
