Chapter 14
Oliver was running down the hallways with Fizz hot on his heels. "Get back here, you little bugger!" The jester called out playfully as he chased after his son.
The boy giggled as he ran, managing to slip into a room and hide briefly while Fizz zoomed past, the boy slipping out quickly and giggling, which Fizz noticed and tried to change direction, but ended up crashing into a plant, making the boy laugh as his papa got a bit tangled up in the plant and the boy quickly took advantage of that to gain more ground.
The reason for him running was because he had pranked his papa by swapping out his papa's white foundation powder with flour. Mind you, he did this by recycling one of the empty, but clean, foundation powder containers and filing it with flour while hiding the real container of foundation elsewhere. As he knew the makeup was important to his papa, he didn't want to waste any of it and so had come up with the idea to do a harmless prank.
When Fizz had gone to put on what he thought was his foundation, he realized something was wrong when it didn't feel right. He looked at it before a sudden breeze blew in through the open window and blew a cloud of flour in Fizz's face. He jumped and coughed in surprise, but some got up his nose and he sneezed.
The force of his sneeze made the rest of the flour fly everywhere and Oliver laughed as he saw his father's whole head was covered in flour. That was when Fizz realized what happened. "Hey! Where's my foundation?" He asked before turning to see Oliver laughing and a knowing smirk overcame his face. "Noodle, did you mess with my makeup?" He asked, his tone playful as he got up from his chair.
The boy quickly ran, which began the game of chase. Fizz laughed as he chased his son, not really mad as he realized what the boy had done, especially after Ozzy had texted him to ask why Fizz had put the white foundation container in the rooster's suit jacket. Fizz didn't reply back as he was chasing the boy to catch him and tickle him in 'punishment' for the prank.
Oliver now ran past the foyer, seeing his dad come in with a large box and set it down on the floor. "Dad!" He cried out happily before hearing a springing noise and pausing to see his papa was coming after him. "Eeek!" He cried out, quickly hiding behind his dad.
Ozzy smiled at the boy at first, but was confused at why he hid until he looked up to see his favorite jester coming towards them. Fizz, seeing Ozzy, tried to stop himself in time, but he tripped and his limbs waved around in an effort not to get tangled. "Whoa-whoa!" The jester cried out, unable to stop himself.
The larger being swooped in and caught Fizz in his arms, holding him in a hug. "Whoa there, Froggie," he said, giving the jester a moment to catch his breath and retract his limbs without getting them tangled. "I got you, Fizzy."
Feeling the larger being nuzzle his forehead against his own, Fizz smiled up at him. "Hi, big guy," he said, happy to see him.
Ozzy chuckled before looking at Oliver, who was looking up at him and giggling. That was when the rooster being noticed Fizz was covered in flour. "Froggie, why are you covered in flour?" He asked in confusion.
"Our little Noodle decided to prank me and swap out my foundation with flour," Fizz said, one arm snaking around the larger being and coiling suddenly around the young boy, making him squeak as Fizz lifted him up and into his arms. "Then he laughed at seeing me covered in flour."
"Oh, did he?" Ozzy asked, a playful grin on his face as he looked at his son, who was giggling and trying to escape his papa's grasp, but the jester had him in a gentle, secure hold. "What should we do with him, Froggie?"
The jester grinned. "Tickle him to pieces," he said.
"An excellent idea."
Oliver squeaked and giggled as his papa began tickling his sides and his dad began tickling his feet. "Tickle, tickle, tickle!" Fizz said in playful teasing, which made the boy laugh harder, especially when the jester began blowing raspberries into the boy's next.
Ozzy began tickling his son's stomach, making the boy burst into laughter. "Silly boy, pranking your papa like that," he playfully scolded him, but the boy knew his dad's words were in play.
After a bit, the two let him up and Ozzy chuckled. "Is that why I found your papa's foundation in my pocket?" He asked the boy.
"I didn't want to waste his makeup, so I just swapped the containers," the boy signed before looking a bit contrite. "But I didn't realize you were going to take your jacket in your office to work, Dad. Sorry."
"It's alright, Noodle," the rooster being said.
"That was a good prank," Fizz said with a chuckle, ruffling his son's hair. "And thanks for being thoughtful about my makeup, Noodle."
"I know it's important to you, Papa," the boy signed.
Ozzy chuckled. "Oh, Fizz. This large box arrived for you today," he said, gesturing to the box he had brought in.
Fizz's eyes widened in shock as he went over to it. "Whoa, Oz! What is it?" He asked curiously as he looked at the box with wide eyes.
"Open it and see," the rooster being chuckled while standing up and scooping Oliver up into his arms. The boy giggled and snuggled into his father's hug happily and he felt a gloved finger playfully boop his nose as Ozzy smiled at him.
Fizz looked at the box in curiosity before stretching up his legs to the top and opening the flaps, noticing the box wasn't taped. Just then, something jumped out, making him jump in surprise and yelp as he landed on his behind on the floor and someone stood before him.
It was Barbie. "Hey, Red Nose!" She said happily.
The jester's eyes widened in surprise before a happy smile stretched across his face. "Babie!" He exclaimed, jumping up and tackling her in a hug, making them both fall to the floor. Laughing, Barbie playfully began wrestling with him and he began wrestling with her. She playfully pinned him and booped his nose, making him laugh before he playfully pinned her and the two of them hugged each other.
Ozzy chuckled at seeing the two interact while Oliver looked curious about the newcomer, having not seen her before. The two friends then got up and Fizz hugged Barbie again. "Wow! This is one of the coolest surprises ever!" The jester said.
Barbie giggled. "I called up Ozzy and asked him about helping me surprise you and he agreed," she said.
Both looked at the larger being, who smiled and Barbie noticed the child in his arms. Her eyes went wide in realization and she looked at Fizz. "Is he...my nephew?" She asked him, gesturing to the boy.
He nodded. "Yup, that's Oliver," he said before grinning at his son. "Oliver, this is your aunt Barbie. She's your uncle Blitz's sister."
"Aunt?" The boy asked in sign language.
Barbie's eyes lit up. "Oh, my word! You know sign language!" She said, sounding happy. "I do too!"
She began signing and the boy lit up as he began signing back before he reached for her and Ozzy gently handed the boy to the Barbie, who smiled as the boy hugged her and she grinned. "This is so cool that I have both a niece and a nephew!" She said happily.
"So you met Loona?" Fizz asked.
"Yeah, I did," Barbie said. "Blitz helped me find a place nearby and I got a really good job that pays really good. I'm actually looking to buy a house soon and I invited Blitz and Loona to come live with me when I finish buying the house."
"That's awesome, Babie," the jester said.
"Congratulations," Ozzy said warmly.
Barbie smiled. "Thank you, Ozzy," she said. "It's actually because of you that I can get my own house."
"Really?" He asked, curious.
She smiled again. "Blitz told me that you paid him a lot for protecting Fizz after he got shrunk," she said. "He used that money to get me my apartment so that I could focus on getting a job after I got better."
Ozzy smiled. "I'm glad he could do so," he said.
"You and Blitz doing okay?" Fizz asked gently.
"Yeah, we are," she said. "Thanks to you, Red Nose."
Oliver lightly patted his aunt's shoulder and she looked at him. "Why do you call Papa that?" He asked.
"Oh, it's a nickname from our circus days, back when we were your age, kiddo," she explained.
"But only your aunt Barbie can call me that," Fizz said.
"And only your papa can call me 'Babie'," she said, smiling.
Ozzy chuckled. "It's kind of like how your papa and I call you 'Noodle' and how I call your papa 'Froggie'," he said. "Only I call him that and only your papa and I call you 'Noodle'."
"Family nicknames," Fizz said, smiling.
"It's one way a family shows that they care for each other," Barbie said, also smiling.
Oliver grinned. "I've got a great family," he signed. "Including two of the coolest aunts ever."
"Two?" Barbie asked curiously.
"Aunty Bee," the boy replied.
"No way! She's you're aunt too?!" Barbie said in awe. "That's so cool!"
Fizz grinned and looked at Ozzy. "Something tells me Oliver's aunts and uncles are going to spoil him silly," he said.
"Like we don't do the same, Froggie?" The larger being pointed out with a chuckle.
The two just smiled as Oliver hugged his new aunt again, a big happy smile on his face.
Figured it was about time that Oliver met his aunt Barbie. :)
So yeah, Barbie calls Fizz 'Red Nose' from their circus days before the accident, like how he calls her 'Babie' (pronounced baa-bee).
