At the time, Zipper is flying around the terrace of the tree. For Chip advised for the fly to keep a good eye out upon knowing that Plato and/or Adam could show up at any moment.
Meanwhile in the headquarters inside Gadget's workshop, Gadget is standing in front of her tool desk diligently working to develop her latest masterpieces that she mentioned about earlier after the Rangers' picnic by the usage of a mass of wiring and other spare parts.
At this point though, she has built and created more of them than absolutely necessary.
The components of said mechanics appear to be built like some sort of special type wireless remote control device with a built-in switch on the side.
In the meantime, Monterrey Jack and Dale are standing behind the inventor and have been brooding within these past several minutes due to the impatience beginning to grow inside them.
Within that same time, Chip is standing right next to Gadget on a foot and a toe with his arms folded. He is also facing the opposite direction of her as he is leaning his back towards her desk of tools and tapping his foot in his typical known chipmunk fashion.
A pile of those remote control devices that Gadget has been creating is stacked unevenly on her tool desk right behind the spot where Chip is standing in front of.
With the same expression building up in him as Monty and Dale, Chip is looking up at the ceiling with a befuddled expression on his face that shows that he is thinking impatiently to himself just how much longer it could take for Gadget to finish already.
As Gadget finishes her latest of those special devices, she enthusiastically exclaims, "Great golly, guys! This is incredible!"
Chip turns his face to Gadget with his eyes first gazing at that various pile of devices behind him while quirking an eyebrow. He then rotates his gaze a second later over to the inventor with a wry smile and says, "Uh, yeah Gadget. I can certainly tell within your obsession of inventing considering this certain collection of 'stuff' that you have made at this point."
Chip then turns his whole body fully in the direction towards Gadget and takes a couple of steps back from her with his arms remaining folded. He then asks her, "Now would you mind just telling us what exactly they are, like we have been asking you about three times already?"
"Yeah. As well as what exactly they do?" Dale adds in a similar scowl.
Gadget then takes a look at the bit of mess that she has made on her tool desk, and sees that it is for certain regarding the numerous amounts of those devices all piled up at this point that she indeed needs to take a break from all that work.
She then says rubbing her chin, "Hmm let's see. First off, how many of these devices have I made exactly?"
"I don't know." Says Chip as he shrugs among his confusion, "I personally stopped counting after twenty."
Monterrey Jack then disdainfully chimed in as he felt that he couldn't wait any longer, "And you know what, Gadget luv, I ain't saying this to be mean, but I think that however many you HAVE made shall be quite enough! So can you please just get on with it already and tell us what kind of devices they are?"
"Yeah Gadget, tell us!" Dale said gruffly.
"Alright, well lets see now." Says Gadget nonchalantly from the other three Rangers' verbal expressions.
The inventor mouse reaches out and grabs one of her newly developed masterpieces. She then turns towards the three Rangers and extends her right arm straightforward with said device in her hand as she starts presenting it to them by speaking in her typical rapid pace among her excitement within her works, "[This little diabolical invention] is something that I like to call, the Autosize Remote Control*. An idea as inspired by Professor Nimnul's shrink ray gun~."
Gadget then flexes her arm back and points her finger towards the button as if it were to look like she was bound to push it, but knows that she can't because she hasn't tested the functions of her recent mechanics yet to determine if they work properly. She continues her usual double talk saying, "[This baby works like a remote and can shrink or grow all kinds of substances that you want] with just a push of a button!"
Gadget moves her finger towards the switch on the remote control's left side to show how the two different functions on the device work with the word, "shrink" labeled down the bottom, and the word, "grow" labeled on top.
The inventor continues on with the presentation, "Now notice this little switch on the side here?" She flips the switch up and then flips it back down stating, "Flip it to change the remote's effects on changing size."
Gadget once again flips the switch up to reveal the device's grow portion stating, "Flip the switch up for 'grow'," Then she flips the switch down to reveal the device's shrink portion stating, "Then flip the switch down for 'shrink'."
Gadget gleefully concludes, "So there you have it, guys!" And then puts the device back on the table.
Gadget then exclaims, "Golly, these things can REALLY come in handy for the sake of any citizen upon association with the greater local community!" She then joyously thinks to herself, "^Gee wilikers^, how I wish my Dad was alive to be here and see this!"
Chip blinked and grew a pretty startled look on his face as something instantly clicked in his mind when Gadget stated the "greater" local community; whereas, she is very likely referring to the human world.
The same uneasy expression crosses Monterrey Jack and Dale upon hearing that piece of information too as they also began picking up on the hunch, and then they both exchange cynical looks at each other.
Chip discretely says to Gadget in that regard, "Uh, gee Gadget, I must admit that this DOES sound like a very interesting idea from your most advanced type of mechanic in Rescue Ranger history. But are you up to what I think that you are up to with this idea?"
Monterrey adds in as he stammers a tad with this various eerie feeling inside him by asking, "Yeah Gadget luv, would it involve something in regards to this D-D-Detective Drake Jr. lad?"
"Well golly, of course!" Gadget nods and says smiling with much satisfaction, "It can go perfect for this kind of thing, don't you think? I mean, I know that humans can still understand us rodents in this new world of the subculture despite us being small. But I figure this could work well for some one like Adam as the cop that he is to, you know, change size. That way, within this idea that he has about us as the Rescue Rangers that we are, this device can give such a great opportunity for us to allow him to have a grand tour inside our headquarters. He can also explore about each and every one of our own valuable properites this way."
The feeling of anxiety really starts to build up in the other three Rangers as Gadget's idea begins to sound pretty sketchy on having some human citizen, especially someone like Adam, go through with something like this. Thus, Chip was now knowing for certain where Gadget was going on this idea of hers.
So Chip looks back over at Monterrey and Dale to see if they were feeling the exact amount of stress as he is at the moment. By observing their expressions, those two certainly matched his expressions quite well.
Chip then looks back over at Gadget and points out to her, "Well look, Gadget," Chip then lets out a breathtaking sigh and starts walking slowly towards the mouse continuing on, "Like I said, I like this contraption of yours and I can understand your excitement in this whole thing."
Chip then stands in spot right in front of Gadget and says, "But I really think you should go slow on all this. Don't you think?"
"He's right, Gadget luv." Proclaims Monterrey, "No offense, but I honestly feel that even Geegaw would say that you might be pushing it a little."
The Rangers of course have established already within this new world of the subculture, that there is no longer any reason for them to be anonymous in taking matters in their own hands beyond the police's reach in protecting the city like they have been this past year. Furthermore, {the Rangers themselves have experienced being human sized once before when they went over to China during that case of the Puffy Wuffies} several weeks ago. As for Zipper, /he has experienced it not once, not twice\, but thrice within his time as a Rescue Ranger out of all the gang's adventures this past year; whereas \his recent experience was during that case of Professor Nimnul's modemizer when he switched bodies with the evil scientist/.
However, that all still dosen't justify the sketchiness of how Gadget's idea sounds on having some human citizen, especially someone like Adam, go through with something like this.
But Gadget gives Chip a meaningful look and then rest assures to all three Rangers, "Really now guys, there is no need to be on edge about this. I am absolutely aware of the certain potential risks on this matter. Therefore, I want to rest assure to you all that these devices will be used for legitimacy purposes, and not for convenience."
Chip then joyously exhales in relief and says, "How I'm glad to hear that, Gagdet. I honestly was worried that you were jumping to conclusions about the whole thing."
Chip then gives a look Monterrey and Dale's direction and tells them, "So you see, }Gadget knows what she is doing after all{." That faithful compliment brings a really enthusiastic expression on Gadget's face upon knowing it coming from Chip.
In reaction, Dale just slightly chuckles and Monterrey Jack just shrugs and goes with the flow about it.
"Furthermore," Says Gadget, "This is not like we would risk having to arrange some contingency plan for a back-up headquarters as a result. I must also admit that there was a point in time when we first got together as Rescue Rangers that I was pretty strict about solving cases beyond the limits of animals. But now, I realize that we are capable of helping people out as well. That being said, with the way things are looking right now, I seek a brand new future ahead of us. Also with the I.Q. that I have, I know for sure that |it never hurts to be prepared|! I mean, I was just trying to make as much of those devices as possible for the sake of some certain other various humans out there. You know what I mean?"
"Oh of course we do, indeed!" Says Monty.
Monterrey then points out to Gadget, "But still, Gadget luv, }I feel like you are going too far here{! After all, we are rodents within our job on the occasion! May I remind you of what Chipper said earlier about getting hysterical about this whole thing? By that matter, I sense something within that significant piece of advice that tells me that there is going to be more than meets the eye on it all. So take it from me, luv, that we don't even know for sure yet if whether or not this Matey Adam cop is able to appreciate our law enforcement occupation. If you ask me, I feel as if the lad should get to know us a little more in that regard about who each and every one of us Rangers are, and what we are actually capable of doing as the rodent detectives that we are."
"Well one thing for sure, guys," Chip points out to the gang with now sincere confidence in it all as a whole in his perspective, "With Plato back in on the job with Adam, surely our old canine pal can be our guide to have as a starting point to our road path ahead of us as we speak. By that matter, I feel that now would a great time for us to begin a small meeting in the living room about how we can set our arrangements on the road to our grand adventure. So for now, all I can say for starters in much consideration in this regard; is to expect the best, but prepare for the worst."
"Awwwww now that's the spirit, Chip Maplewood." Says Gadget jovially. She then pats Chip's head affectionately and says, "I love it when you speak confident." Chip playfully chuckles among the tenderness.
Five minutes have now passed as the Rangers are now in the living room with Dale, Gadget and Monterrey Jack sitting down on the couch with Chip standing in front of the three directing the small meeting session.
Chip starts by stating, "Alright Rescue Rangers, listen up! I want to first point out that I am deeply proud of all the accomplishments that we have made after all we have been through this past year during our time together. I am also of course stoked the same at this point upon knowing how conceivable it is for us to sense the opportunity to take our entire operation of detective work as Rescue Rangers up to a grander scale."
"Golly, Chip, aren't we all?" Says Gadget, "Last time we had a case at that various level, |we earned our own police badge in honor of Plato|!"
Monterrey Jack adds, "Too right, Gadget luv. Me and Zipper also found a brand new home here thanks to us gathering together as this bonzer team. Blimey, I was worried scared that we both would end up homeless after |Fat Cat sunk our ol' treasure bunk|."
Chip sighs and says with a nostalgic grin, "Yes, where all the adventures began!" He then got all in action now saying, "So without further ado, lets get down to business..."
Chip then begins pacing back and forth as he directs to the Rangers, "Now as we are no doubt aware, Donald Drake as we remember him was one of our role models at the time last year, aside from Plato. We obviously wouldn't be here together right now if it weren't for them. Throughout this past year, we have been under adverse circumstances to aid the police in some of our cases, starting with |clearing Detective Drake and Plato's name during that clutchcoin ruby case|. Now we learn about Donald Drake's son, Adam, whom has brought Plato back in on the job on his first day as a new freshman rookie cop. Thus, it is exciting to see that the young man is not only en route to becoming a new detective in place of Donald, but is also competent enough in his ways to make an impact on the city's high crime rates; especially since there have been some crimes slipping through the cracks out of the police's reach. And thanks to Plato and Zipper for being supportive among this matter, it tickles me to death knowing that Adam is now determined to meet us within the many advantages and be one of our guinea pigs that shall put us in the direction on the road path to prove our ways to the police force and the local human community."
Chip stops his pacing and faces the Rangers, and then gestures his index finger up by way of indicating on pointing out some very significant advice to them as he continues on, "However, just so my conscience is clear, I want to give some very important guidelines. First things first, I want to advise in regards to Gadget's idea of her new remote control devices on size changing. While I confirm that I am totally cool with it being used on certain citizens, especially someone like Adam; think about this, Rangers. The human police force works differently among criminal cases than how we would as Rescue Rangers, and our jobs have been restricted among helping them make the bust on certain criminals for all we know. So in that case, especially since I know that Gadget is fully aware to use them with caution; the primary instance that I know of for usage for now is to use one for the sake of giving Adam a bit of a tour around our headquarters as a start along the way. What do you guys think?"
"I see no problem with that, sure." Dale nods with a grin. Monterrey Jack answers, "Sounds okay by me, too." Gadget smiled with much satisfaction, "Yeah that sounds wonderful, Chip! A fresh start for an idea on utilization among my idea, indeed!"
"Excellent!" Chip exclaims.
Chip continues on, "In addition, would you suppose that there would be ANY logical reason for someone in the police force to have the gull as cops to be rodent size and utilize their own particular operation on cases like the many ones that we have gone through throughout this past year? The moral I'm trying to point out here is, to each is own. Because if I know Adam as a police officer, he has got enough in his plate already. He is on his own path to achieve his goal. So therefore, our path as the Rescue Rangers on that matter is the way of being the supporters along the way. Does that make sense?"
The Rangers all nod affirmingly as Monty replies, "I haven't heard a better plan yet, Chipper!" Gadget then responds to that idea in whole while batting her eyes at Chip, "Golly, that's good ol' Chipper thinking outside the box."
"Perfect!" Chip exclaims as he gives Gadget a smirk in response to that tender compliment, "Then I guess that part is all under control!"
Dale starts giggling in his usual chipmunk style upon catching on to the whole idea as he begins grasping onto something in mind and exclaims in his typical motor mouth vocalization, "Wowie Zowie, YOUKNOWIMACTUALLYSTARTINGTOFEELREALLYTICKLEDTODEATHAMONGALLTHESORTSOFADVANTAGESTOSEEKUPONTHISIDEAASAWHOLE! ANDWHOKNOWS, BYMYOBSERVATIONOFADAM'SHARDCORESETOFSKILLSASACOP, HECOULDGETGOODENOUGHTOBETHENEXTBIGHEROONTV. THATAND/ORONTHEHORRORTALESTHATITHRIVESOMUCH!"
Gadget and Monterrey look at Dale, and quirk an eyebrow in response to that silly idea and his overactive manner within it. Chip glares equally annoyed at the red nosed chipmunk upon knowing mighty well all about all "interesting" imagination via his comical obsessions.
"Honestly, Dale, do you REALLY claim that hunch about him?" Asked Chip in a low voice to his best friend.
"Well yeah, Chip," Says Dale, "I mean, we all saw how Adam busted Professor Nimnul in style. The boy is also a youngin on the occasion so yeah, it IS a possibility. Plus, judging from his style on weapon usage, he could qualify as someone like the next ~Red Badger~ or -Dirk Suave- in the future for all we know!"
The Rangers of course all cringe at that crazy idea as it occurs to them to be another one of those cases of Dale getting so carried away by certain heroes that he enjoys a lot via his media obsession.
Monterrey Jack then blows off Dale by pointing out to him, "]I hate to burst your bubble, mate, but it seems to me that your imagination has given you a brain cramp[."
Chip then sighed angrily and says, "Yeah, and its the most rediculous thing that I have ever heard in my life! Dale Oakmont, seriously! Do you ever wean away from your media habit? Do you EVER? If I must jog your memory, remember last year |what Plato said right before the two of us went out to begin investigating on that clutchcoin ruby to clear him and Detective Drake|? Well let me remind you that Plato informed us that |detective work is not a game|, and I'm pretty sure that Adam knows that too!"
Gadget nods in absolute agreement and declares, "Yeah, Chip has definitely got a point there." "Too right." Says Monterrey Jack, "And a bonzer one at that."
Chip adds in, "And furthermore, in case you don't remember from watching the WD news report earlier, Detective Drake Jr. just recently returned from the military. By that matter, how the military is like is obviously beyond our comprehension compared to you know, police work. But if I were to add up my detective calculations to speak of regarding military service, I can certainly rest assure you that Adam has not experienced a single aspect whatsoever that would involve the crazy stuff that any citizen would stumble across that would be considered make believe from television, comic books, movies, etc.; nor do I think that he would have ANY interest in such stuff as we speak. Besides, what did I just say about the police utilizing their own operation on cases that we would go through. I mean, Adam shooting rubber bullets among the bust on someone like Professor Nimnul would make total sense. But on animals? I sense absolutely no rhyme or reason for Adam to go through with such a thing, if you know what I'm saying. So yeah, wouldn't that go to show you something, Dale?"
"Oh well excuse me, Detective *Sherluck Jones*," Dale sarcastically says, "But do you really know that for sure? [[Do you think that is something Jones would by any chance say]]? Hmmm?"
Chip rolls his eyeballs in response as he felt that it was almost out of nowhere for Dale to bring his idol up, and then says to him, "Oh you REALLY have to bring *Sureluck* into this?"
"Well just tell me, Chip. I'm curious. [[Would Sureluck say that]]?" Dale asks seemingly eager to know.
Chip felt driven to yank his headfur as he felt that the timing could not be worse for this part in discussion. He then exhaled and let the answer out, "Well I really hate to have to say it, but you leave me no choice regarding Jones. As much as I honestly don't have a genuine answer to what he would say, all I can think of what he COULD say is that your prediction is as good as mine."
Dale mentally says in response while shaking his head in distress, "Whatever THAT means."
Stay tuned next chapter where the Rangers and Plato reunite, and then later discover about Adam's disappearance.
