Galactic guardians no more
"Thanks for helping me out girls." Dede smiled at her girl friends as all four of them were in Dedes' back garden. Dede wanted to give gardening a try and her girl friends all agreed to help her with planting all the flower seeds in one of the back corners of the garden.
"It's hard to believe that something so small can grow into something so beautiful." Paloma said as she held up a rose bush seed.
"It's actually quite interesting really." Gretchen said while watering the seeds that have already been planted. "While roses only take about a few weeks to grow by themselves, the rose bush itself can take up to three years to fully grow."
"That long for just a plant?" Spinelli asked, shocked that it takes so long for a bush to grow.
"Yes, however the first flower can be seen after one or two-" Gretchen was cut off by a beeping sound. Dede looked at her bracelet, though not seeing a flashing light, she held it up to her ear to see if the light was just broken but the bracelet wasn't what was beeping.
Paloma pulled a device out of her pocket before gasping and looking at Dede. "I have to go. you know your bracelet doesn't beep as much as it used to." Paloma starts on her way back into Dedes home. "Did you get it fixed?"
Dede looked down at her bracelet while Spinelli and Gretchen watched Paloma run off. "No, that's what worries me."
Over the next several weeks not a sound was heard from Dedes bracelet and it was starting to make Dede a bit agitated as she had no clue what was happening.
Right now the kids were all at school sitting in class as Miss Grotke was handing out permission slips to her students. "Now people, don't forget to have your parents sign these so you can go to the state fair next month."
When the bell rang all the students walked out onto the playground to enjoy another recess time. "Wow, the state fair. This is gonna be amazing." Gus cheered, seeing that this would be his first time going.
"Yeah, great." Dede said dryly, making her friends all look over to her as she drags behind them.
"What up Dede?" TJ asked as he stopped walking.
"Yeah, you've been really grumpy this last week." Vince agreed.
Dede looked off to the side with a little pout on her face, she was about to respond to them when she heard a beeping. She looked down at her bracelet and smiled big when she saw the light flashing. "Me? I'm not grumpy, I'm great. I gotta go." Dede tapped her bracelet. "I gotta.. uh… ask my Nana for some gardening tips."
Dede quickly runs off before any of her friends can ask any questions. "Now that's the Dede we know." Spinelli smiled before they all walked off to enjoy their recess.
When Dede and her crew arrived at galactic guardians HQ they saw that they were the only ones that were called. Looking around Dede saw all the other galactic guardians there talking among themselves, Roger was even spotted talking in a group. What shocked her most, though it shouldn't have, was that Mr E was also spotted standing in the corner of the room.
Dede walked over to him with Sparky and X-5 following behind her. "Mr E, sir."
Mr E looked over at the call and smiled when he saw Dede standing there with her crewmates. "Kid." Mr E nodded at her in greeting. "So, he did call everyone after all."
"Seems like it. Do you know what this is about?" Dede asked after she looked around again.
Mr E shook his head, having no clue why everyone was called. Sparky and X-5 looked at each other before walking forward a bit more to be in line with Dede. "Uh… Chief? Who's this?" Sparky asked, having not met Mr E yet.
"Oh, Sparky, X-5, this is Mr E, he was a substitute teacher at school. Mr E, these two are my crew members, Sparky and X-5." Dede introduced them.
Mr E turned to look at the two aliens that were standing behind him.
One was introduced as Auria, she was a beautiful looking alien with dark brown skin, bright pink cat like eyes and thigh length white hair that almost looked like it had a pale pink tint to it in some light. Her ears were almost elf-like and she had almost gem looking marks just under her eyes.
The other was a male alien who was even bigger than Mr E, this was Novak. He was a four armed dark green muscular guy, he had no hair but he did have horns coming out the top of his head. His eyes were a solid red colour with no iris or pupils. He also had fangs coming up from his bottom lip and scars all over his body, along with a long almost reptilian tail.
After both teams were properly introduced to each other their attention was grabbed by Admiral DeGill as he appeared on stage. When everyone saw DeGill standing there they all quieted down as he also appeared on the big screen behind him. "As you may very well know, it's been 3 months since without a single crime in the galaxy. The super villains have, without exception, become model citizens. The high council has therefore decided…. To disband the galactic guardians."
This caused an uproar, no one wanted to believe what they had just heard, but they knew they couldn't do anything about it as it was ordered by the high council. When the meeting was over Dede was standing out in the ship bay with Sparky and X-5. "We were a great team." Dede said as she looked at her two alien friends sadly. "I'm gonna miss you guys."
"We'll miss you to capitan." X-5 said as he and Sparky were also just as sad to be saying goodbye.
Sparky blew his nose on the tissue he was holding before gesturing to X-5 and himself. "X-5 and I are going into business."
"With Sparky's skills, I predict a .035 percent chance of success." X-5 states.
Sparky rushed to X-5. "Oh yeah. Would you rather go to crushton?"
X-5 shakes his head, trembling slightly at the thought. Dede smiles at her friends as tears start to build in her eyes. "Yeah. I'm really gonna miss you guys." The three all came in and hugged each other tightly, not knowing if this would be the last time that they would all get to see each other.
Mr E walked up to the three, having said his own goodbyes to his team and cleared his throat, grabbing their attention. "Come on kid, I'll give ya a ride home."
With one more tearful goodbye the three went their own ways. Dede was sitting on one of the chairs in Mr E's ship as he flew them back to earth. When the two arrived back on earth just outside of third street school the bell rang, signalling the end of the day. "Thanks for the ride Mr E." Dede said, looking up at him as he placed his hand on her head.
"Don't mention it kid. And cheer up, I don't think this'll be the last time you'll see your crew." Mr E said as kids started coming out of the school.
"Really?" Dede asked hopefully.
Mr E nodded before he gestured to his galactic bracket. "I have a feeling this might be a part of something bigger, keep your communication device with you at all times still."
"There you are Dee?" Dede looked over to see her friends all walking up to her, only stopping when they saw she was standing with their old substitute teacher.
"Mr E? What are you doing here?" TJ asked as they all came to a stop.
"I'm just passing through." Mr E nodded at the other kids in greeting before turning back to dede. "Remember what I said kid, I'll see ya around."
The kids all watched as Mr E left. They all looked at Dede waiting to hear what was said between the two of them. Dede just smiled at them, shrugging before walking to Kelso's Asking random questions to change the subject, which seemed to work as they all forgot about it when they arrived.
It was around six o'clock when Dede got home, walking up to her room she took a deep breath before walking in, seeing Lapis laying on her bed watching TV with the volume down. Lapis looks up at the sound of the door opening, but her smile fades when she sees the sad look on Dedes face. "What's wrong?"
"Well, you know how I've not been called on any missions for the last few months?" At Lapis' nod Dede took another breath. "Well, that's because apparently all the villains have decided to become good, so the high council… they uhhh… they've disbanded the galactic guardians."
Lapis just sat there, not saying anything, only tilting her head when it seemed her thoughts sorted themselves out. "What?"
"We were all called in today for a meeting, that's when Admiral DeGill told us." Dede sits down on her bed and pulls Lapis onto her lap.
"But…but I was only one year left away from getting my own communication device." Lapis looks up at Dede with her ears pinned back and a sad expression on her face. "I only had one year of training left."
"I'm sorry Lapis, I know you were super excited about joining the galactic guardians." Dede stroked Lapis' head and the two just sat in silence.
Over the next few weeks Lapis stayed sad about her dream being taken from her and Dede was increasingly getting frustrated that she couldn't cheer her friend up, or figure out if the villains really were planning anything like Mr E thought they might be. At the current moment Dede and her friends were playing a game of basketball against Lawson and his friends.
Dede currently had the basketball in her possession and she was dribbling it as she looked at her friends. "Come on, you slackers, this is basketball, not checkers! Stay on your man, TJ. Gretchen, set up the pick. Geez, what do I have to do, everything myself?"
Dede starts to dribble the ball around everyone that was trying to stop her, she easily made it to the hoop and threw the ball up. It looked clear to go into the hoop before Lawson jumped up and smacked the ball down, making the ball bounce off of Dedes head. "Ha! In your face, Dede! Get it?" Lawson points at Dede and starts laughing. "The ball hit you in the face, and I said, 'in your face.'"
Dede, already frustrated with everything going on, growled at Lawson. "Why, you little…"
Dede tackled Lawson to the grown grabbing his shirt and glaring at him with so much anger he started to shake. "Help me! She's crazy! Crazy!"
"Oh, you ain't seen crazy yet." Dede warns before her arms are grabbed from behind and she pulled up off of Lawson.
"Let him go, Dede." TJ said as he held her right arm, while Spinelli held her left.
"Yeah, Lawson jammed you fair and square." Vince said trying to calm Dede down, thinking that's what she was upset about.
"I don't care! He's got it coming!" Dede growled as she tried to break free from her friends grasp to finally let off some steam.
She was able to slip out of their grasp before Mikey managed to get a hold of her. "All is well, Dede, all is peaceful. Breathe deep with me now."
"I don't want to breathe. Let me go!" Dede argued childishly.
"Come on Dede, quit being a jerk." Spinelli said, looking up at her angry friend in mikeys arms.
"Me….. a jerk?" Dede looked at her friend, not knowing how to feel.
"You gotta admit, Dede, this is somewhat jerk-like behaviour." Gretchen says slowly, not wanting to upset her friend further.
Dede looked over at all her and saw that they all seemed to agree with Spinelli's statement. She then looked over at Lawson who was starting to stand up, looking at Dede with a bit of fear in his eyes, seeing this Dede took a deep breath before lightly tapping Mikey's arm. Once she was set back on the floor she looked down so that the bill of her cap covered her eyes. "Sorry." Was all she said before she walked off, leaving everyone behind.
All the kids just stood there, watching as Dede left. "Gee, what was that?" Gus asked, having never seen Dede act like that.
"That was Dede in a bad mood, Gus." TJ answered.
Spinelli decided to finish for him. "It doesn't happen often but when it does It's never pretty, but she always calms herself down, eventually."
"How?" Paloma asked, worried for her friend.
"Usually by just being alone to cool off."
"Oh."
Dede sat down just off of the blacktop and started to rip up blades of glass to take her mind off of everything that's happened recently. "What are they planning? Mr E has to be right, there must be more to this then what we think. Ahhh, I hate this."
Dede plops down onto the grass fully, staring up at the clouds that pass by. "Uh, excuse me, Dede?" Dedes head snaps over to the right, shocked to see cornchip girl sitting near her, she had thought she was alone when she sat down so she wasn't expecting to see her third grade friend to be right next to her.
"Oh, hey cornchip girl, I didn't see you there." Dede said, sitting up.
"It's ok, it seemed like you wanted to be left alone, but I was wondering if you could help me with something."
Dede tilted her head in confusion at her friend. "Uhh, sure. What's you need help with?"
"I'm trying to draw a kitty but I can't seem to get it right." Cornchip girl points down to her chalk drawing on the blacktop.
Dede looked down at the drawing on the blacktop. "It's good, but it's missing it's ears." Dede grabbed the chalk that was next to her and leaned over to add the ears onto the cat drawing. "It's eyes also need to be different and Its tail needs to go up like this, see?."
"Wow, that's great. Thanks, Dede." Cornchip girls says looking at the completed cat drawing.
Dede however seemed to be in her own little world. "And it'll need a friend. Once you've done that you can add marking or accessories to make it your own." She continued to add more and more to the little drawing.
The next day the gang, minus Dede, walked onto the playground to start another day of school. "Ah, Third Street... Another day, another dollop of knowledge." TJ sighs.
"I got to see if the gum I left on the jungle gym kept its flavour overnight." Gus says before he runs off.
Mikey is quick to follow him. "Wait for me!"
"I wonder where Dede is this morning." Gretchen asked, looking around, not seeing her friend.
Spinelli also starts to look around. "Yeah, hopefully she's in a better mood than yesterday."
"Huh, you can say that again." TJ says about to continue walking onwards.
He didn't even make it one step before cornchip girl calls out to him. Excuse me, TJ, I wouldn't walk there if I were you. You might smear the nice picture."
The ramming all looked at her, confused. "Picture?" Vince asked as they all looked down at the blacktop, seeing lines everywhere. "Wow, what's with the crazy design?"
Cornchip girl walks over to them, being careful of the chalk drawings. "I just asked her to help me draw a kitty, But she wouldn't stop."
The little third grader points over to the other end of the playground showing them Dede who was still in her own world drawing whatever her mind was focused on. The group could hear her muting to herself as they all watched her concentrate. "A little more over here… Double more over here."
The group have all ran over to her at this point, trying to catch her attention. "Dede, what are you doing?" Paloma asked.
They were all ignored though as Dede just continued with what she was doing. "She seems to be entranced, drawing something." Gretchen says as she wanted her friend.
"Yeah, but what?" Vince asked.
No one could answer Vince as they had no clue but thankfully no one needed to voice this as Gus' voice could be heard shouting them. "Guys! Guys!" They all looked up and over to the top of the jungle gym where both Mikey and Gus were. "You gotta see this!"
The group all runs to the jungle gym and climbs up to meet their other two friends. "This better be good, Gus, Dede's doing
something strange down there." Spinelli says as she comes to a stand next to them with the others.
"Strange and wonderful. Look!" Mikey points down to the ground making the others look and when they do they couldn't help but gasp. On the blacktop was a whole array of colour, while they couldn't see what it was meant to be just yet they all knew that it was going to be one of Dedes best drawings yet.
"It's beautiful." Vince gasps.
"It almost resembles one of those giant aboriginal petroglyphs that can only be seen from the sky." Gretchen says in awe.
"It's a masterpiece that touches the soul
and makes one cry to the heavens, 'Art, thy name is Dede!'" Mikey recites.
Gus agrees with Mikey as he looks down at the soon to be masterpiece. "Yeah, but I wonder what it's supposed to be."
"I don't know, Gus, but whatever it is, Dede sure worked hard to make it." TJ says as he's not been able to look away.
Cornchip girl sits on the handlebars and points down. "And it's too bad those digger boys are going to mess it all up."
They all looked to where she was pointing. "What?" Looking they saw that the diggers were starting to dig close to the blacktop, almost throwing dirt onto the chalk drawing.
"She's right! Come on, we got to stop them!" Spinelli says as she was quick to slide down the slide and run over to the diggers with the others close behind her.
"Sam, Dave, wait. You guys got to stop digging." TJ says with urgency in his voice.
The diggers look up at him, both confused. "Huh? What are you talking about, TJ?" Asked Dave.
"You guys gotta dig somewhere else today." Paloma said, hoping they'd listen.
"We've been digging where we want on this playground ever since we were in Kindergarten." Sam asked. "Why should we dig somewhere else now?"
TJ smiles as he knows he can easily convince them. "Come with us and we'll show you."
The group took the diggers up to the top of the jungle gym and showed them the progress of Dedes' masterpiece. "I feel inspired." Gasped Sam.
"Yeah, inspired to dig…" started Dave.
"For chalk!" They both finished.
Gretchen, who was standing behind the two, leaned over and put her hands on their shoulders. "An excellent idea, guys,
at her current rate, Dede will consume the school's entire chalk supply within the hour."
The diggers smile at each other. "We better get digging then. See ya!" Sam says before the two run off.
Vince pats TJ on his back. "I gotta hand it to you ,Teej, you sure saved Dede's drawing."
"Hey, when it comes to dealing with diggers, I'm the man." TJ says thinking they were all he had to deal with.
Cornchip girl was quick to break that thought though. "How are you at dealing with fifth graders?"
They all looked down to see Lawson and his friends on the basketball court, making them all gasp. "Let's get this game started already!" Lawson says as he starts bouncing the ball.
"Somebody stop those madmen!" Mikey cries out.
TJ is quick to run to the slide. "Let's go!"
TJ and the others managed to make it to Lawson and his friends before they started their game. "After what Dede did to me yesterday, why shouldn't I play basketball all over her stupid chalk squiggles?"
Spinelli huffs in annoyance. "Oh come on, Lawson. She said sorry."
"Yeah, well I don't believe she meant it." Lawson says stubbornly.
"Well, if you won't believe her apology then we'll have to show you another reason to not play over her drawing, Lawson. Follow me." TJ says before he leads everyone back up to the top of the jungle gym.
"It makes me feel things I've never felt before." Lawson quietly muttered to himself.
"I could never play basketball on that, Lawson." One of Lawson's friends, Buster, says. "It's too pretty."
Both of Lawson's other friends also agree. Vince sighs in relief before turning to TJ. "OK, Teej, we stopped the diggers,
We stopped Lawson. But face it, sooner or later, somebody's going to mess up
Dede's drawing."
"What are we going to do, bring every kid on the playground up here?" Gus asked rhetorically.
"Gus, my friend, that's not a bad idea." TJ says taking it seriously.
And that's exactly what they did, they got every student on the playground lined up ready to go up to the top of the jungle gym to see what Dede was working on. "One at a time, people! No pushing! You'll all get a turn to see Dede's... thing." TJ said as he and Spinelli stays at the bottom of the ladder, making sure only one kid went up at a time.
At the top Vince, Mikey and Gretchen were all trying to comfort Menlo as he got to the top of the ladder but wouldn't walk on the monkey bars. "Come on." Vince held his hand out to help him.
"You can do it." Mikey cheered him on.
"Just a few steps!" Gretchen reassured him.
"No, I won't do it! You can't make me!" Menlo said as he grabbed Vince's hand, who in turn pulled him over to stand next to him, making him look down at the playground. "Why, this isn't a trick at all. It's... it's art!"
"Easy, art lovers, everyone's going to get a turn here." TJ says letting another student up before he looks at the line. "Next! Hey, you guys don't go to our school!"
He was talking about the four new kids that were next in line. "Of course not, we attend Scomaa…" the seeming leader said.
"The School Of Modern Alternative Art." The girl next to him said.
"We have come to view the so-called 'action chalk girl' in action." The leader gestured to Dede who was zipping around on a skateboard as she drew.
"What's going on here?" Miss Finster said as she pushed past some of the students to see what was happening. "This is a playground. Why isn't anyone playing?"
TJ, Spinelli, Gus and Paloma all walked over to Miss Finster. "We can't, Miss Finster, Dede's drawing this amazing stuff all over the asphalt and…"
"Oh, graffiti, huh? Well, I'll fix that." While Miss Frinster may want to help Dede as much as she can, that only extends to her galactic guardian life, not for her normal life when it comes to breaking rules. "Randall, tell Hank to get out the hose."
"But, Miss Finster, you don't understand." Paloma says, wanting to change her mind.
"Oh, ho, ho, I understand plenty. That's why I'm going to wash this mess off the blacktop right now!" At Miss Finster's intentions all the students started to try and get her to change her mind.
"Please, Miss Finster, leave it be." Mikey says as the rest of the gang run to join the others. "As Oscar Wilde once said, 'Art school should be the streets.' And, well, the playground is sort of like a street, only with play equipment and no traffic."
"Dede's work is a breathtaking expression of vital spiritual needs." Gretchen adds.
Even Lawson was trying to get Miss Finster to change her mind. "It brings up all kinds of feelings and stuff."
Miss Frinster wasn't having any of it though. "Any unauthorised drawing on school grounds is officially classified as graffiti, And I'm cleaning it off, once and for all."
All the students gasp, none of them wanting the drawing to be washed off before it is finished. "Now what are we going to do, TJ?" Spinelli asked.
"There's only one thing we can do." TJ pressed a button on his watch, only for the top screen to open up. "Gandor primulan, gandor primulan."
Inside room 51 the pale kids were all sitting around reading comics before the computer screen lights up. "Gandor primulan." TJs voice calls out.
"It's J.T., Code Epsilon." Frank said as Steve started typing on the keyboard, getting TJs face up on the screen. "Gandor primulan, J.T. What's the trouble?"
"We've got an emergency situation
on the playground guys, we need your help." TJ says.
"We will get on the bird and take a look." Steve says as he hacks into a satellite and brings up the map of the world and starts zooming in to their location. "Geosynchronous satellite on-line."
"Track longitude at 80 degrees West, latitude at 40.4 North." States Rodney.
"Closer, closer... " Frank said before they all gasp, seeing the artwork Dede was doing.
"The most impressive piece of work, JT" said Rodney.
"And Finster's trying to wash it off." TJ says hoping there's something that they can do.
"Fear not, JT We're on-line and on the case." Frank says to reassure his friend.
"Thanks, guys, but hurry. Hurry!" With that the call ends and all the pale kids run over to their own computers.
Back out onto the playground the kids were all still trying to convince Miss Frinster to change her mind. "Come on, Miss Finster. Have a heart." Begged Paloma.
Hank walks over to them, holding the hose he was asked to bring. "You needed something hosed down, Muriel?"
"That's right, Hank. Wash it off!" Miss Finster said, pointing to the blacktop.
"Gosh, Muriel, are you Sure?" Hank says, looking down at the drawing. "It's an awfully nice piece of work."
"If you're going to wimp out on me, Hank, just give me the hose and I'll do it myself."
"Sorry, Muriel, you're not authorised to operate a hose this powerful... Union rules."
"Give me the hose, Hank." Miss Finster said as she grabbed the hose.
"Now's our chance... For beauty!" TJ says before running over to the adults and tries taking the hose himself.
"For art!" States Spinelli as she joins TJ.
"For Dede!" The rest of the gang says as they all run over.
As all the other children were cheering Gus heard a helicopter approach. "Look! A Mondrian X-71 Bobcat!"
As the helicopter lands a blind lady wearing a purple dress runs out. "Stop, stop!"
"Who the heck are you?" Miss Finster demands as they all walk over to this new lady.
"Decoupage, Calle Decoupage… Chairwoman of the American Arts Endowment. Oh, I just saw this tremendous work of art on the internet." She introduces herself.
TJ opens up his watch, happy his friends did it. "Way to go, Knarf!"
Miss Finster rolled her eyes at the new lady. "That's not art, that's graffiti."
"Au contraire, this is one of the most original pieces of art I've seen in years, in fact, the Endowment wants to offer this artist a grant and declare this entire blacktop a protected public installation." This made all the kids cheer.
Miss Finster was not happy with this. "What? You can't do that! This is my blacktop, sister!"
"It's not blacktop, it's art!"
"Blacktop!"
"Art!"
"Blacktop!"
"What do you know about art?"
As the two fully grown women argued, with the kids agreeing with Calle, only cornchip girl spotted that Dede had stood up. "Look!"
At her call they all stopped their arguing and looked over. "Done." Dede sighs as she drops that last of the chalk she was using.
"Quick! To the jungle gym!" TJ shouts and everyone started climbing any and all high places they could, all wanting a view of what Dede had spent the better part of two days drawing over.
Needless to say, no one was disappointed. Dedes drawing truly was a masterpiece in their eyes. It was a drawing of third street school, with a bunch of the teachers, ranging from Miss Finster, Miss Grotke, Hank, Principal Prickly and many others. And a bunch of the students, obviously Dede and her friends were drawn but she'd also drawn cornchip girl, the Ashley's, Lawson and his friends, king Bob with Jordan and Jerome, Butch, hustler kid, the diggers and Randall. She would have drawn more but there wasn't enough room for everyone, so she stuck to drawing the people she interacts with most.
"It's... incredible." Hank says at a loss for words, touched that Dede had drawn him.
"It's magnificent!" Calle said as she looked down at the masterpiece.
"To think I wanted to wash it away." Miss Finster was almost brought to tears as she looked over the drawing that the young galactic guardian did. "Why, we should laminate the whole blacktop."
"I hereby declare that Dede's masterpiece be preserved for future generations."
At Calle's dedication everyone cheered, happy that this work was going to be around for a long time to come. The cheering didn't last long though as cornchip girl started to hear a loud rattling sound. "Um, excuse me, but I hear something rattling."
Hank looked at her before realisation hit him. "The hose!" He panics, but it was too late, the water pressure got too much and the hose couldn't keep it in, starting to spray water everywhere.
"It's going to blow!" Gus exclaimed as the tap blows off of the wall, sending a flood of water all over the blacktop.
Everyone got down from their high places and looked at the blacktop in sadness. "The drawing... it's... gone. All gone!" Calle cries.
"Why, great God of the Arts, why?" Mikey joins Calle in being really upset with this outcome.
Dede, having gone to the bathroom to wash up a little bit, walks over to everyone seeing them all upset. "Hey, what's everybody looking at?"
"Your ruined masterpiece, Dede." Spinelli says.
"We're so sorry." Paloma finished, feeling bad that all of Dedes hard work was just destroyed.
"Huh?Masterpiece? What masterpiece?" Dede asked confused.
"The vast expensive blacktop you spent
two days labouring over." Gretchen answered.
"Oh, You mean that drawing?" Dede gestured to the now fully wet blacktop. "That was just something I was doing 'cause it helped me feel better. Doing it was the fun part. If it's gone, it's gone." At Dedes' lack of care for the drawing the kids were all chatting among themselves, they were all shocked that she was mad or upset that all her hard work was just washed away. As her friends were going to question if it was really ok a beeping sound was heard, making Dede gasp and look down at her bracelet, seeing it light up. "I've gotta go, I missed some chalk on my first clean."
Dede smiled as she ran off, making all the others laugh slightly knowing that she was ok if she was just running off as normal. Hank went and got a broom and started to sweep the water away. "Well, there goes the art!" Said Vince as they all watched Hank sweep.
"And there goes the true artiste." Says Mikey as they watch Dede run into the school.
When Dede got to an empty room she was quick to answer the call, saluting as she did. "Atomic Candy reporting for duty. Uhhh… are you ok admiral?"
"I'm fulfilling a childhood dream, Candy. I'm now a tango instructor." Admiral DeGill says as he pulls his partner into view, making Dede just smile at him.
"I'm very happy for you admiral. Do you have a mission for me?" Dede asked hopefully.
"The ex super villains have committed a series of minor misdeeds, nothing serious, but I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg. You must investigate at once." Admiral DeGill accidentally spun his partner too much as she spun off screen, crashing into something. "I've contacted Sparky and X-5, they're on their way to pick you up."
Once Dede was beamed up to her ship she was super happy to be back in her uniform, she was not happy with the strange mess that her ship was in though. "What is this place?"
"Hiya chief." Sparky says as he skids to a stop in front of Dede. "It's Sparky's Astro pie shop, at your service."
Dede gasped when she saw her robot friend come over to them. "X-5, what happened to you?"
He was about to answer but a timer ding cuts him off, making him sigh as sparky runs off to grab a large wooden panel. "X-5 was ok as a galactic guardian, but as a pie oven, he's fantastic." Sparky cheers as he lightly hits X-5 head with the wooden panel.
"He promised I'd be rolling in dough." X-5 explains to Dede as she watches them in confusion.
"And I was right, wasn't I?" Sparky says before being the pie closer to Dede. "Hey, chief, wanna taste."
"No time. The supervillains are back to no good." Dede says before she runs into the main control room. "We need to find out what's up."
"No problemo, I've got a recipe. Oops I mean a plan." Sparky says as he tries to start the ship up.
At the corrupt moment the three galactic guardians were flying through space in their ship quickly, trying to get away from the villains that were chasing them after Sparky's plan to try and get information failed spectacularly. "I told you Maximus would recognise you." X-5 says shaking his head. "And he hates pies." He felt the need to add that last bit.
"And he hates pie." Sparky says mimicking X-5.
"Sparky, hyper boost, now." Dede commands, hoping to get them out of the line of fire, but Sparky just looked up at her with a little glare on his face. "Oh, I forgot, we don't have that option."
"We don't have any options." X-5 stated. "Hold on, they're firing again."
Just as he said this the ship was hit, sending things flying and giving Dede an idea when some dough landed on her lap. "Sparky, it's time to get baking."
"Now?" Both Sparky and X-5 asked.
Sparky was happy to bake though, flattening a lot of dough and throwing them to Dede who folded them up and got them loaded into their missile launchers, which X-5 gets ready and aimed. "Fire!" Dede shouts and Sparky runs to the controls, hitting the button.
"Missile deliveries are on their way." He says as the dough hits the ships chasing them, causing some of them to crash Into one another.
Looking at where they were going Dede gets another plan. "Quick Sparky, head towards the sun."
"Aye aye chief." Sparky says as he does what he was told to do. As they got closer to the sun all the villain ships that were still following them all started to slow down, thanks to the batter that was on all of their ships getting cooked from the heat of the sun. The batter expanded so much that they all got stuck together in one massive blob of pastry. "We did it! Wooow that's good." Sparky cheers.
"Unfortunately, dough in the torpedo launcher has gummed up our plasma injectors." X-5 informs.
"What does that mean?" Sparky asked as their ship kept heading towards the sun.
"We're about to crash into a sun." X-5 explains in the simplest terms he can.
"About to crash into a sun? Ohh that's bad."
The screen at the front of the ship turns on and Maximus appears on it. "Dear Atomic Candy, it's true we may be covered in pie dough, but you're about to be made into burnt toast." Maximus laughs before the screen turns off.
"Our shields won't protect us much longer." X-5 informs the other two members of the team.
"This looks like the end." Sparky cries.
"It was worth it, just to see you guys again." Dede smile sadly at her two friends before they all moved to hug each other, closing their eyes so they won't see anything.
As the ship was close to flying into the sun the three all hugged each other tighter, only to be thrown slightly off balance as their ship was stopped abruptly, before it was dragged backwards. They looked out of their window to see a black galactic ship was pulling them away, it wasn't long until the screen turned on again only this time the face that appeared on it was a much more welcome sight. "We've got you kids."
"Mr. E." Dede smiles big, seeing her old substitute teacher and his team. "How'd you know we needed help?"
Mr. E smiles as his ship continues to pull Dedes out of the sun's orbit. "DeGill called us, sent us just in case." Mr. E points to the side and the three look over to see every other galactic guardians ship surrounding the massive blob of villains.
"It looks like the galactic guardians are back in business." Dede cheers.
"A job worthy of my talents" states X-5 before he looks at the other two. "And I will thank everyone never to mention the word pie again." The three friends all laugh, happy to be back as a team again.

Hey, hope you enjoy this chapter.
I really had fun designing Mr. Es team. There will only be two more chapters for this year so hopefully they will be ok until I get back from Iceland in the new year.
