James had just returned home for Christmas after his first semester at Hogwarts.
"Hi, James, " said Lily eagerly as James entered the house, running up to give her favorite brother a hug, "I'll carry your trunk up to your room for you."
"Thanks, sis, " said James gratefully.
As Lily took care of James's trunk for him, James took turns greeting and hugging Albus, Harry, and Ginny.
Harry and Ginny had decided to celebrate James's return home with a pizza party.
Harry, Ginny, Albus, Lily, and James enjoyed a delicious dinner of two slices of pepperoni and sausage pizza, two breadsticks, and two chicken wings each with a large glass of Budweiser each to wash it down with.
After the tasty dinner, James went up to his room thinking of relaxing.
But as he peeked inside his room, James gave off a stunned gasp and a stunned look appeared across his face.
Every square inch of James's room was filled with hot pink balloons.
Having followed James from behind, Lily burst into a fit of giggles when she heard James's stunned gasp and saw the stunned look on his face.
"PRANKED!' yelled Lily triumphantly, giving off s satisfied grin.
"It was y-you?" yelped James, "You filled my room with balloons while I was away at Hogwarts?"
"Indeed yes, " smirked Lily.
James pulled out his wand and pointed it at the nearest balloons.
"Reducto!" yelled James.
None of the balloons popped. The Balloons James had attempted to pop all just floated around the room.
"I got you good!" grinned Lily, "I bewitched those balloons to float at any attempt of magic against them. The only way to remove them is to pop them by hand."
"Wow, you really did get the upper hand on me sis. Now I've got to pop all of these balloons by hand to get my room back?"
"Yes, " said Lily in a ribbing and razing kind of voice.
James smiled at Lily and admitted, "That was a brilliantly planned prank, sis."
James spent the next seven minutes popping as many of the balloons as he could by hand as Lily stood by watching on and laughing.
Though James wasn't very skilled at popping balloons and didn't make a lot of progress, it was actually pretty fun at first over these first seven minutes and James actually laughed and giggled along with Lily. The feeling of the balloons popping in James's hands was oddly satisfying to him and James could always find fun in making noise. Besides, James just couldn't help but admire the prank his sister had successfully pulled off against him.
But the fun quickly wore off over the next three minutes. By the time James was ten minutes into the balloon popping, he was starting to feel a bit weary, this being especially true in the tenth minute.
"This is going to take forever, "said James out loud in a weary voice after that tenth minute.
At this nanosecond, Lily knew it was time step in and help and she said, "I've had my fun, James, but I won't leave you in the position of having to clean all of this up on your own with no help. I'll help you clean up the rest of the balloons and then I'll bring your trunk up. I put your trunk in my room for the time being. But I did promise that I would bring your trunk to your room and I'm a girl of my word."
"Thank you, Lily, "said James appreciatively, "It was a genius prank and I was a good sport about it for as long as I could be. I even had some fun with it myself. But I really did start to feel a bit weary over those last few minutes."
"I totally understand, James, "said Lily simply, "I've had my fun and now it's time for me to help."
Lily then started helping James pop the remaining balloons and proved to be much more adept at balloon popping than James.
Once Lily started helping James pop the balloons the process went off much quicker and all of the balloons were popped within five more minutes. Because the spells Lily had placed on the balloons against using magic against them were still intact, James and Lily picked up the remints by hand and put them in a bag that they then threw out.
Lily then brought up James's trunk to his room as she had promised, and said, "James, I tell you what, I promise that every time you come home from Hogwarts, including the later years when I'm at Hogwarts with you, I will carry your trunk up to your room every time."
James smiled at Lily and said "That's jolly decent of you, Lily."
James then turned to face Lily eye to eye.
"Lily, I have a surprise for you, " smiled James.
Lily's ears perked up and her eyes glowed. Usually a surprise from James was incredibly fun, exciting, or enjoyable.
James dug into his trunk and retrieved a bottle of Corona Extra that he handed to Lily.
"I don't believe you've had this before, sis?" said James.
"No, I haven't, " confirmed Lily as she opened the bottle and took her first few sips.
"Yummy!" said Lily happily, "Not as good as Budweiser, but way better than Miller."
"Totally agree, sis, " smiled James.
