On Super Bowl Sunday 2020, James and Lily were enjoying a breakfast of sausage, bacon, and ham burritos and Coors to wash them with when Lily said, "You know, this year's Super Bowl features two teams that both prominently feature red in the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs."
"Different shades of red, but yes, " grinned James, "I think the Chiefs take this Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes is just too good."
"I agree, " smiled Lily, "But I brought up the red because I wish to ask you a favor. I managed to get a hold of two mini pack of the Starburst FaveReds line. The FaveReds line consists of cherry, strawberry, watermelon, and fruit punch. Each mini pack contains two pieces. Fortunately, I got two watermelons and two fruit punches out of the mini packs. You remembered when we Starburst original fruits on my YouTube channel?"
"That was fun, " remembered James fondly.
"Well, I know you're not a huge tropical fan, James, but I would appreciate it if you would review the watermelon and fruit punch flavors on my channel with me. It would be interesting to get your perspective on the exaction of the candy as someone who isn't as big a tropical fan as I am, " explained Lily.
"I'll do it, " agreed James, "I know you would do such a favor for me if I asked and I did love the lemon Starburst when lemon candy isn't usually a favorite of mine. I'll help you with a review of the Starburst FaveReds line."
James followed Lily up to her dorm room where the candy in question was lying on Lily's bed.
As she prepared her recording, Lily introduced the video by saying, "Welcome back to Lily Luna's World. Today I am once again joined by my favorite brother James who will help me with a review of the Starburst FaveReds line."
"I'm not a huge tropical fan, " admitted James, "But Lily wanted me to share my perspective on the execution of the candy as someone who isn't as big a tropical fan as she is. I did love the lemon Starburst when lemon candy isn't usually a favorite of mine so there's hope, I guess. Either way, I'm happy to help out my favorite sibling."
"Let's do watermelon first, " said Lily simply, picking up both watermelon pieces and tossing one of them to James.
James and Lily quickly popped the candies into their mouths.
"YUM!" piped up Lily, "Declicous watermelon flavor. An extraordinarily strong 9 out of 10 from me. My mouth is watering!"
"I'll be honest, " said James in a businesslike voice, "I don't care for it. Lemon was a different story. While lemon has never been a favorite of mine, there had been lemon candies I had liked. While the 9 I gave the lemon, Starburst was the highest score I'd ever given to a lemon candy, there had been lemon candies that would've been 7s for me. I've never had a watermelon candy that I would give a score of higher than 3 to. But here's the deal. I personally didn't like it and based on how much I personally liked it, I'd give it a 3 out of 10. But the flavor was strong, the candy was juicy, and it tasted like what you would expect good watermelon candy to taste like. Because I don't like watermelon candy, it's a 3 out of 10 based on how much a personally like it. Based on its execution, it's a 9 out of 10."
"That's exactly why I wanted you to do this review with me, " said Lily clearly, "You don't have the personal bias in favor of watermelon candy that I do, and in fact, dislike it. I thought it would be interesting to get your perspective on this candy and whether it succeeded or failed from someone who isn't a watermelon fan"
"Oh, it succeeded, " said James instantly, "Anyone who does like watermelon candy should like it. It's just not for me."
"Let's try fruit punch, " said Lily, and James and Lily each picked one of the fruit punch Starburst off the bed and tried them.
"AWESOME!" cried Lily the nanosecond she could taste the fruit punch flavoring, "Man, this is fantastic. 10 out of 10 easily!"
"Based on how much I personally like it, it's a 5 out of 10, " said James simply, "Didn't really enjoy it, didn't really mind it. Just kind of "there." Based on how good the quality of the product was, it's a 10 out of 10. The execution of the fruit punch flavoring is flawless, it has the right amount of juice. If you're someone who likes fruit punch flavoring, this is probably as good a candy as you're going to find."
"So, we can recommend the Starburst FaveReds line to tropical fans?" Lily asked James.
"Absolutely, " said James firmly, "Starburst FaveReds are a great product, they're just not for me."
"James, " said Lily, "Thank you for helping me out with this review. I know you didn't enjoy this too much, but I really appreciated getting your perspective on it."
"No problem, Lils" smiled James, "I know you've done the same type of favor for me."
Later that night, James and Lily watched the Super Bowl in James room and saw Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs on a 4th quarter comeback to win the Lombardi Trophy."
As Chiefs colored confetti rained down from above at the Super Bowl, Lily told James, "I actually have a third mini pack of the Starburst FaveReds in my pocket. If one of the two pieces is Strawberry, then I'll let you have it.
Lily pulled the mini pack out of her pocket and tore it open to find a strawberry and a fruit punch. She kept the fruit punch for herself and gave James the Strawberry.
James and Lily enjoyed those flavors as they watched the Chiefs colored confetti rain down.
And so, ended a day full of red.
