It was Sunday, August 2nd, 2020, and James and Lily were in James's room and had just started recording a video for James's YouTube channel, James Sirius's Playhouse.
"Good morning, Potterheads, " smirked James, "Welcome back to James Sirius's playhouse. Today I am joined by my favorite sibling, Lily Luna Potter. If you remember, a month ago Lily and I reviewed the book the Magician's Nephew on this channel."
"Well, " piped up Lily, "My favorite brother James and I have been reading the second Narnia book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe over the last month. We have now both finished reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and are ready to review it."
"So, " said James eagerly, "My favorite part of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was actually seeing the wardrobe that Digory Kirke made at the end of the Machina's Nephew come back and actually serve as the Pevensies portal into Narnia."
"That was my favorite part of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as well, " said Lily happily, "I loved the pools in the Wood Between the Worlds in The Magician's Nephew and I loved how the wardrobe acted as portal between worlds in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The concept of using portals to travel between worlds is fascinating to me."
"It was so cool to see the wardrove appear in this book and realize it was the magical wardrobe we saw created at the end of the first book, " beamed James.
"So?" Lily asked James, "What did you think of Father Christmas's gifts to Peter, Susan, and Lucy?"
"I really appreciated as a reader how the gifts were practical and useful gifts, " said James thoughtfully, "The line about the gifts being tools not toys really struck a chord with me."
"Me too, "agreed Lily, "It just felt fitting that Father Christmas came into Narnia just as the White Witch's wintery grip was starting to break and gave Peter, Susan, and Lucy the gifts they needed. "
"So, what are your thoughts on Edmund?" James asked Lily.
"His betrayal of his siblings stung, " said Lily bluntly, "There's no doubt about that."
"Do you think Peter, Susan, and Lucy forgave Edmund too easily?" inquired James.
"Not at all, " said Lily fiercely, "As hurtful as Edmund's betrayal was, at that point, the way I look at it is this; either you can hold a grudge and dig a deeper hole or you can forgive and start to heal."
"You make a good point there, Lily, " said James crisply, "I had mixed feelings about that. I respected Peter, Susan, and Lucy for forgiving him, but I'm not sure if he deserved to be forgiven. I will admit that I did like Edmund's moment at the end when he broke the witch's wand with his sword."
"Yeah, that was a total genius move, " smiled Lily, "The only way to take care of the witch was to go after her wand."
"And Aslan, " said James, "Aslan had a major edge over the witch because unlike the witch, Aslan knew the Deep Magic from the Dawn of Time was not the be all end all. He knew about the Deeper Magic from Before the Dawn of Time."
"That was a little stunning, " said Lily slowly, "I cried when Aslan died."
"So did I, " added James, "That was hard to take. But it was pleasantly shocking when he came back."
"So, " piped up Lily, "How did you like the four Pevensie siblings becoming the kings and queens of Narnia?"
"I loved it!" answered James glowingly, "But it was a bit wield how they just left at the end of their reign."
"I know, right?" said Lily in Amazement, "One moment they come by the lamp post they'd entered Narnia by and stumble back into England, it felt weird to me too."
"The lamp post is another element kept from The Magician's Nephew, " piped up James, "The one came to life and grew!"
"Yep, " said Lily, "But I hope Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy find their way back to Narnia in future books."
"They will, " said James confidently, "Once a king or queen off Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia.'
"What about the writing itself?" put forth Lily.
"I thought the writing of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was much smoother and flowed much better than that of The Magician's Nephew, " said James instantly.
"Totally agree, " said Lily cheerfully, "The writing in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe seemed to flow much more naturally. That's a good sign going forward."
"It is a good sign going forward, " agreed James, "So, sis, are you up to reading The Horse and His Boy?"
"Yes, I am, " beamed Lily.
"Well, I think that's all for now, " piped up James, "For my favorite sibling, Lily Luna Potter, I'm James Sirius Potter. We love you all and we'll see you next time on James Sirius's playhouse. "
