It was September 26th, 2020, and James and Lily had just finished a lunch of ham and turkey sandwiches with pickles, lettuce, and mustard with a side of original Lay's potato chips and Samuel Adams Golden Lager to wash it down with when James asked Lily, "How about we have a yo-yo competition today? Just a simple one mind you. I'm in the mood for some quite simple fun."

"As Polly Plummer would say, I'm game if you are." grinned Lily.

"What I want to do, " said James matter of factly, "Is to just have a competition to see which one of us can keep his or her yo yo going longer. That simple. "

"Honestly, I myself am in the mood to do something for some simple fun, " replied Lily, "How about in your room?'

"See you there, " agreed James.

Lily retrieved her hot pink yo yo from her room and meet James in James's room. James was already holding his scarlet yo yo.

""Let's do it then, " said Lily brightly.

So, James and Lily started their yo yoing. Both were able to keep their yo yoing without pausing for quite some time.

Lily was clearly the faster yo yoer. James was able to yo yo ten times a minute where Lily was able to do fifteen.

Lily stopped after ten minutes with a total of one hundred and fifty successful yo yos.

James kept his yo yo going for fifteen minutes. At his slower pace, this meant he too finished with one hundred and fifty yo yos.

"So, we tied?" said Lily in disbelief.

This made James a little uncomfortable. He had thought they had agreed to the winner being the person who kept his or her yo yo going longer, but he could see why Lily thought of it as tie.

"Lily, " said James cautiously, "I thought we had agreed to the winner being whoever kept his or her yo you going longer and that was me."

"You did say that, " Remembered Lily suddenly, "My own honest opinion though is that I was the better you yoer. Fifteen yo yos per minute is clearly better than ten yo yos per minute."

"I see exactly where you are coming from, Lily, " said James gently, "If anything I should made the definition of who would win our yo yoing competition clearer. "

"Reasonable minds can disagree here, " acknowledged Lily.

"Lily, look, I consider myself the winner but do not hold it against you that you consider yourself the winner."

"We both won in our own ways, " decided Lily finally.

"That's the fairest way to look at it, sis, " smiled James, "We can both call ourselves winners in our own ways."

"By the way, " added Lily, "I did find the yo yoing competition to be the simple fun we talked about, so I enjoyed that."

"Same here, " agreed James, "It was a fun event for sure."

At that, James and Lily exchanged a hug and went to retrieve some Strawberry Starbursts from James's candy bowl.
