It was Thursday, October 31st, 2019, the first that James and Lily were together for Halloween at Hogwarts,

It was five in the morning and Lily was sound asleep in her room until-

"BOO!" cried a loud male voice.

Startled, Lily got out of bed and started looking around her room.

Suddenly, a costumed figured dressed up as a bat entered her room and started swooping around.

This felt creepy and spooky as the bat followed Lily around her room for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds.

When the bat finally left Lily alone and seemed to disappear, she heard a loud howl that mimicked the howl of werewolf.

Stunned and now frozen still smack dab in the middle of her room with her back to her door, Lily felt a sudden hard punch on her back.

Turning around, Lily saw that James was in her room and just finishing taking off the bat costume.

"I GOT YOU GOOD, LILY!" said James in an unusually boastful voice.

"Yes, you did, " said Lily, who could not possibly deny that James had just got one up on her.

"I really did scare you with the BOO! and the howl, didn't I?" grinned James.

"Absolutely," confirmed Lily, "But you following me around in your bat costume might have been creepier. "

"I had you totally freaked out, Lily!" piped up James in a satisfied voice, "Punching you in the back when you were frozen startled for good measure was immensely satisfying too!"

"How long have you been planning this?" Lily asked James.

"Just a couple of days, " said James honestly, "It was a pretty simple prank. Choosing the bat form as my costume was the only thing I debated. I considered being a spider instead."

"That would have worked as well, " admitted Lily.

"But I chose the bat costume in the end, " grinned James, "I got you so good, sis!"

"Yes, you did, " said Lily fairly, "You have a way with these kinds of pranks. "

"All the same, " said James, his tone suddenly changing from boastful to kindly, "I didn't just come up to your room to trick you. I came here to give you a treat as well."

Lily smiled.

"So, " said James with a genuine smile as he dug his hand into his left hand pocket and retrieved a Honeydukes bag, "As you know, last Saturday was a Hogsmeade Saturday. "

"Yes, " said Lily matter of factly, "I'm too young to go into Hogsmeade and I was lonely here at Hogwarts without you last Saturday, but I declined your offer to skip the Hogsmeade visit and stay at Hogwarts with me because how much you love those Hogsmeade visits and I wanted you to be able to enjoy the trip. Three are only so many such opportunities you know."

"It's always fun to go Zonko's the Shirking Shack etc. But Honeydukes has always been my favorite. I can't until you're a third and we can go together. It's just too bad we'll only have one year to do so. Anyway, while I was at Honeydukes I picked up a few things for you. I figured you might like to try a few Honeydukes products. " explained James.

"Oh, James, thank you very much, " said Lily as she accepted the bag from James, "That was very decent of you to think of while you were there."

"I thought they'd make a great Halloween gift." smiled James.

Lily peered into the bag and saw several interesting items including a few that that were very fitting for Halloween.

These items included skeletal sweets, blood flavored lollipops, chocolate skeletons, blood orange gumdrops, ice mice, and chocolate pumpkins with orange icing to a Jack O Lantern look.

"Oh, James, thank you for getting all of this for me. Which item do you suggest I try first?"

"The Chocolate Jack O Lanterns, " advised James, "I had one myself that and it was better than O in N.E.W.T.

So, Lily unwrapped a chocolate Jack O Lantern and bit into it.

"Yes, " piped up Lily, "These are delicious. This must be the highest quality chocolate offered in the Wizarding World.

"It is, " said James enthusiastically, "But you won't have any idea just HOW good these chocolate Jack O Lanterns are until you get to some of the frosting.

"Wow, just, wow, " said Lily glowingly once she'd had her first bite of the orange frosting. , "This frosting is superb .In my experience, chocolate, vanilla, and lemon tend to make better frosting flavors than orange, but wow, this is the best orange frosting ever made. This is the GOAT orange frosting for sure."

"I knew you'd like that, " said James happily.

After Lily had finished the chocolate Jack O Lantern, she ran over to James and brother and sister exchanged a big hug.

It was a happy Halloween moment.
