YEAH TO LIME SKITTLES RETURNING! :)
On the night of Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, the last night at Hogwarts before the students went home for Thanksgiving, James Sirius Potter was standing alone in his room when he heard the door to his room open and the patter of flip flops.
He knew his sister Lily Luna Potter was entering the room.
"Hi, Lily," greeted James warmly.
"Hi, James, " said Lily kindly, "Looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving?"
"Very much so, " answered James instantly, "I'm looking forward to seeing mom and dad for Thanksgiving."
"Me too, " agreed Lily, nodding her head fiercely, "Do you remember the agreement we made two weeks and two nanoseconds ago?"
"I do, " replied James, "You would paint a painting for me, and I would draw a drawing while neither of us told the other what we were doing."
"Correct, " confirmed Lily, "I have brought the painting I painted for you. Have you completed your drawing for me?"
"I have, " said James proudly.
"Let me bring in the painting, " said Lily in a businesslike voice, "I left it just outside the door."
Lily went to retrieve said painting and was back in less than a minute.
Lily handed James the picture she had painted for him.
It was a portrait of a collection of pumpkins against a brown background and it gave off a distinctive aura of autumn. Then, in italic white lettering in upper right hand corner of the portrait were the words Happy Thanksgiving.
"WOW!" piped up James breathlessly, "It is perfect. It really gives the viewer the feeling of a peaceful and happy autumn season around thanksgiving. Seriously Lily, if painting were a Hogwarts course, you'd get an O in N.E.W.T."
"True, " said Lily glowingly, "Though I rarely use magic in making mu paintings."
"That's one of the reasons I love your artwork so much, Lily," beamed James, "There's a certain purity in things crafted by hand."
"I couldn't agree more, " said Lily sincerely, "I love working on the details of paintings I produce by hand. Details like the stems of the pumpkins and the italic styling of the lettering in the Happy Thanksgiving message."
"Your attention to detail is precisely what makes your paintings so grand and lovely. You leave no stone unturned when it comes to detail. Thank you very much, Lily, for this painting."
"I'm glad you like it, " said Lily happily.
"Let me give you the drawing I manufactured for you then, Lily, " said James brightly.
James went over to his desk and opened one of the drawers.
He took a drawing out of said drawer and closed the drawer and closed the drawer again.
He then went back to Lily and handed her the drawing.
"OH JAMES, "IT'S BEAUTIFUL!" cooed Lily.
Lily saw that James had drawn her a perfect snapshot of Vermont fall foliage.
The blends of red, orange, and yellow leaves were serene, and the detail and accuracy of the drawing made it feel like you actually in Vermont.
"This drawing is gorgeous, " said Lily chokily as she a took a further look at it, "It feels as though I've been transported to Vermont in fall foliage season when I look at it. I- thanks a lot James."
"It was a joy to make," said James proudly.
James and Lily smiled at each other, both feeling goosebumps and being a bit awestruck by the work the other had done.'
They set the painting and drawing down atop James's desk and quietly admired them for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds.
Finally, Lily said, "Happy Thanksgiving James,"
"Happy Thanksgiving, Lily, " returned James.
Brother and sister then shared a bone crushing hug, feeling warmer than the glow of the sun as they did so.
As this is likely to be the last update to James, Lily, and Brother-Sister Fluff before Thanksgiving, I'd like to take this moment to wish you all a wonderful thanksgiving. I'll have a Christmas themed chapter up sometime in December. Love you all -Michael :)
