It was the morning of Thursday, March 17th. 2022, and James Sirius Potter was by a knock on his door.
"Who's there?"
"Lily," answered Lily cheerfully.
"Come in," replied James.
The nanosecond James got a look at his sister, he was stunned.
Rather than school robes or her normal white tee shirt and hot pink shorts, Lily was wearing a vibrant green dress the shade of a clover and had even abandoned her normal hot pink flip flops for clover green flip flops.
And it didn't end there. She was wearing clover green hair and carrying a clover green box with a clover green lid in her hands.
"You look different today, Lily," smirked James.
"Happy St. Patrick's Day!" replied Lily with a giggle, "If you put on something green, I'll share what's in the box with you!"
So, James took off his pajamas, which were Darth Vader black, and put on lime green tee shirt and spring green shorts while putting a Color Change Charm on his hair to make it pastel green and on his tennis shoes to make them neon green.
"You got the better of me there!" said Lily proudly, "You're so cute wearing all those different shades of green!"
"I look good!" agreed James glowingly.
"As you did what I asked, I shall share what resides in this box with you."
Lily removed the lid from the box and proceeded to spread its contents across James's bed.
There were pieces of lime green Jell-o in the shapes of a clover and a leprechaun. There were 2 displays made up of lime Skittles and mint M&Ms that read out Happy Saint Patrick's Day. There were two glasses of green beer which Lily had made by adding green food coloring to Bud Light.
"We need to eat and drink, " Lily instructed James, "I have bewitched this box to do something once all the food and drink it had carried has been consumed! Which Jell-o piece do you want?"
"The leprechaun!' piped up James a nanosecond later.
Lily tossed the leprechaun Jell-o piece to James and kept the clover one for herself.
"Cool lime flavor is always a nice way to start a day," grinned as the ate the Jell-O.
"Now we're going to have a mixture of lime and mint!" explained Lily once the Jell-o was gone, pointing at the Skittles/M&Ms mix.
Both James and Lily really enjoyed how the lime and mint flavors mixed and savored the Skittles/M&Ms mix.
"Lime and mint are an atypical combination but I love it!" said James happily.
"Maybe we ought to try out more unusual flavor combinations in the future," suggested Lily eagerly.
"I'm game!" responded James excitedly.
When the Skittles/M&Ms mix was gone, Lily pointed at the two green beers.
"I made green beers by adding green food coloring to two Bud Lights," explained Lily, "I know we both prefer Budweiser over Bud Light, but Bud Light is just the perfect beer to make green beer out of
"Nothing could be more appropriate than drinking green beer on Saint Patrick's Day, " declared James.
"I couldn't have said it better myself, " beamed Lily as she and James got to work on gulping down their green beers.
When the beer was gone, numerous balloons in all shades of green suddenly became visible and rose out of the Lily had brought in.
These balloons floated to the ceiling and all popped themselves. When the balloons popped, a spectacular array of green fireworks went off and permeated James's room with light and sound.
"Like thunder and lightning!" grinned James, "I haven't heard fireworks that loud on the Fourth of July or as the New Year has been rung in. And the brightness is brillant!"
"Thanks, James, " said a satisfied sounding Lily, "I knew you'd like that!"
And then, the box exploded of its own accord, and turned into clover green confetti, which fell on James and Lily who both happily took in the experience
"You bewitched the box to explode into confetti once the fireworks were gone, right Lily!"
"Right!" confirmed Lily brightly.
The confetti fell for a few minutes and a few nanoseconds and when it finally stopped James's room was covered in green confetti.
"Have fun cleaning that up, James!" grinned Lily, "That's my payback for when you pranked me by dumping all that confetti in my trunk when I first started at Hogwarts!"
James looked stunned for a moment and then conceded, "You got me good, Lily!"
Lily took a few steps towards the door but stopped and said, "Well, I wanted to see that stunned look on your face, but there's one more trick left. When will it kick in?"
And then, the confetti rose from the floor towards the ceiling but stopped halfway and hardened into pearl.
These pearls meshed with each other and formed two necklaces.
Lily put one of the necklaces over James's neck and put the other one on herself.
"Happy Saint Patrick's Day, James!" exclaimed Lily.
"Happy Saint Patrick's Day, Lily," exclaimed James.
