On Sunday, July 24th, 2022, James, and Lily were in Lily's room recording a new video for Lily Luna's World.
"How ya'll doing!" exclaimed Lily as the recording began, "This is Lily Luna Potter, joined as usual by my favorite sibling, James Sirius Potter. Today we are going to be reviewing Skittles Tropical. "
James picked up an unopened bag of Skittles Tropical from Lily's bed and showed the back of the bag where the flavors guide was to the viewers.
"So," explained Lily, "Skittle Tropical is a variety of Skittles that combines two flavors into each color, James is showing you all the flavors guide right now."
James held up the flavors guide for a minute and a nanosecond and then ripped open the bag and poured the contents onto Lily's bed.
"Let's start with the Kiwi Lime," said Lily brightly.
James and Lily each grabbed a handful of the green Skittles off of Lily's bed and popped them into their mouths.
"Interesting," said Lily cheerfully, "I can taste a bit more of the kiwi than the lime, but I have to say that it works pretty well as a pairing, though I still prefer plain lime by itself. 8 out of 10 for me."
"7 out of 10 for me," replied James, "It's pretty good, but I have to agree with you that lime is better single than being in a pairing."
"I wonder if that's going to be a weakness for this this variety of Skittles in general, " piped up Lily.
"Let's do mano tangelo next, I have a gut feeling that mango tangelo will be both of our least favorite flavors from this bag."\
James and Lily picked up a few orange Skittles each and ate them.
"YUCK!" chorused James and Lily, both spitting them out.
"It's like one of those terrible flavors of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans," said James bluntly, "1 out of 10.'
"1 out 10 indeed," agreed Lily, "Let's move forward and get a better taste in my mouth."
"We'll banana berry next, " answered James matter of factly, "I have no idea what to expect from banana berry."
"Nor do I and that makes it interesting, " smiled Lily.
James and Lily, both with a sense of wonder and anticipation in their minds and hearts, snatched handfuls of the yellow Skittles from Lily's bed and eagerly popped them into their mouths.
Both James and Lily smiled at each other.
"That was different and cool, " said James glowingly, "Combining banana and berry gave a unique result for a Skittles flavor. It almost tasted like a smoothie in Skittles form."
"You hit the nail on the head, James, " grinned Lily, "A smoothie in Skittles form sums up the banana berry flavor quite nicely.
"You know," mused James, "For me, banana berry is an 8 out 10. It's not the GOAT Skittles flavor by any means but I enjoyed it for being something unique and different. "
"What it is," said Lily matter of factly, "Is a wonderful change of pace from the typical Skittles flavors. I'd give it a 7 out 10. The thing is, not everything is a GOAT and that's okay. There's absolutely a place in the world for things that aren't the best or my favorite or that I wouldn't eat all the time but are delightful as a once in a while change of pace."
"Sometimes, it's nice shift gears once in a while," said James happily, "How about we now shift gears into trying strawberry starfruit.
Next nanosecond, both James and Lily helped themselves to a handful of the pink Skittles.
James and Lily both had content looks upon their faces as they took in the strawberry starfruit flavor.
"Very soothing flavor, " observed Lily, "Kind gives off a vibe of peaceful relaxation."
"Yeah." cooed James, "Strawberry starfruit gives me the feeling I'd get from sitting outside on a lawn chair naked on a nice day sipping lemonade."
"That's a splendid analogy, James, " said Lily admiringly, "It's too hot to do that today of course."
"One hundred plus degree heat is never fun," agreed James, "I think the same thing can be said about the kiwi lime and banana berry flavors to an extent, but the strawberry starfruit is the epitome of a soothing flavor. 9 out 10."
"9 out of 10 in this corner as well, " said Lily warmly, "If Skittles ever makes strawberry starfruit a single flavor bag like it did with lime, I'd get a few bags to for us to eat while we sit outside naked on lawn chairs on nice days sipping lemonade. It would fit in perfectly with those days."\
"It's like the Wood Between the Worlds in The Magician's Nephew, " piped up James, "Just a warm peacefulness."
"We do still have one more flavor to try," Lily reminded him, "Pineapple passionfruit. "
So, James and Lily now each went for a handful of the blue Skittles.
Wide smiles lit up their faces like a meteor as they delighted in what proved to be their flavor in the bag.
"YUM!" cried James and Lily in unison.
"WOW!" yelled James, "That pineapple passionfruit flavor was totally awesome baby! 10 out of 10. Delicious!"
"Definitely a first ballot hall of fame Skittles flavor!" cooed Lily, "10 out of 10 So good there's not to say about it!"
"It reminds me of peach from the orchards bag, " explained James, "In that it's a less common flavor that just blew me away the nanosecond I tasted it."
"It was worth getting this bag for the pineapple passionfruit alone," piped up Lily radiantly, "What is your overall impression of Skittles Tropical."
"I think some people would adore this bag," said James in a businesslike voice, "People who are hooked on smoothies will adore this variety of Skittles. There are those people who will find that this is their favorite Skittles bag. For the average person who eats Skittles, it's more a nice change of pace bag to eat once in a while. My overall score for the Skittles Tropical bag is 7 out of 10. The mango tangelo flavor does bring the score down a bit. I do recommend Skittles Tropical with the caveat that the Law of Diminishing Returns will definitely apply for most people."
"A very fair and honest assessment, James," said Lily warmly, "I was going to give the bag as a whole 8 out of 10, but after listening to your assessment, I'm going to agree with you and go 7 out of 10. Mango tangelo is 20% of the bag after all and the Law of Diminishing Returns point is quite valid. I agree with recommending Skittles Tropical as a once in a while change of pace with the understanding that they are not the GOAT Skittles bag."
"There's a place in the world for these change in pace items that let you shift gears once in a while, " said James clearly, "Skittles Tropical are NOT on the elite level of Skittles Original, especially now that Skittles has come to their senses and restored lime. But, if you've never had Skittles Tropical, give it a try sometime."
"Exactly, " smiled Lily, "As is the case with many things, original Skittles are the best Skittles, especially now that Skittles has come to its senses and restored lime. But all Skittles fans should give the tropical bag a shot. Well, that's all we have for now.
