It was Sunday, April 9th, 2023, and James and Lily were again in Lily's room recording a piece for Lily Luna's World.
"Good afternoon, Potterheads," cooed Lily, "This Lily Luna Potter, joined as usual by my favorite brother, James Sirius Potter."
"Today, " said James eagerly, "We are going to be reviewing Peeps classic yellow chicks candy. "
There was a box of the classic yellow chick Peeps sitting on Lily's bed.
Lily went over and opened the box, retrieved two of the peeps, gave one to James, and closed the box again.
"Let's dig in," said Lily cheerfully.
James and Lily eagerly ate the peeps and both had smiles across their faces as they did.
"You know," said James thoughtfully, "This marshmallow is actually pretty good. A lot of marshmallow in candy sucks, but this is a pretty good marshmallow. In the candy world, I'd say that offhand the only candy I can think of that has better marshmallow is Old Faithful."
"It kind of has a melty quality to it," smiled Lily, "I definitely do like the marshmallow, but what really does it for me are the sugar crystals on the outside."
"Oh yeah," grinned James, "Sugar sugar, it's yummy yummy."
"It's about the combination, " said Lily matter of factly, "The outside sugar layer and the marshmallow really mix well together. I don't think Peeps are in the competition to be the GOAT candy or anything like that, but they're still pretty good."
"What they are is a good once in a while candy and an enjoyable change of pace candy from the candy we normally consume, " opined James.
"Things like that have their place in the world, " smiled Lily, "It's one of those things where The Law of Diminishing Returns clearly applies to Peeps in a way it doesn't apply to Skittles, but, all the same, it's still really enjoyable to have the Peeps once in a while."
"That actually makes them a good Easter candy, " grinned James, "Though nowhere near as good as the chocolate bunnies."
"Ultimately, " said Lily fairly, "I'd give the classic yellow chick peeps an seven of ten for me. They're good, and they're a nice change of pace. But I'll reserve higher scores for candies I'd want more often."
"It's on the seven-eight line for me," said James uncertainly, "But I'm inclined to agree with you on giving them a seven. Seven feels like the right score for a change of pace type candy. Peeps are good but will get old pretty quickly if you eat a lot of them. I don't have anything too critical to say, but, well, they are what they are."
"I think some people will like Peeps better than others but that everyone should try them once," piped up Lily, "With no chocolate, no mint, and no fruit flavor, I don't think Peeps will be too many people's favorite candy but I think more people than not will like them."
"Eating them only as an Easter candy will likely appeal to a lot of people," added James..
