It was 10 P.M. on the night of Easter Sunday in 2015 and James Sirius Potter heard a knock on his bedroom door.
"Who is it?" asked James matter of factly.
"Lily Luna Potter," answered Lily, "May I please come in?"
"Yes, sis, of course," replied James cheerfully, going over to open the door and let Lily in.
James instantly noticed a bulge under his sister's shirt.
"So," James," said a smiling Lily, "This is the last Easter before you start at Hogwarts when the fall 2015 semester starts on September 1st. "
"This is true," said James simply.
"I've come to give you a gift. Something you can take to Hogwarts with you if you wish," said Lily brightly.
"I see a bulge under your shirt," commented James.
"Yep," said Lily, now lifting her shirt to reveal several Easter Eggs, she had painted herself.
"These were originally plastic eggs," explained Lily, "I had mom and dad perform Strengthening Charms on them before I painted them."
James looked down to see, not individually colored eggs, but patterns and designs.
One of the eggs depicted green grass at the bottom and a blue sky at the top with white in between. Another egg had the design of a rainbow with one line of egg for each color of the rainbow. Yet another egg featured blooming spring flowers of varies kinds against a sun yellow background.
"You were going for a spring and nature theme?' guessed James.
"Right you are, bro!" glowed Lily, "I wanted to do something for you on your last Easter before Hogwarts and I figured that painting Easter Eggs with spring and nature themes would be perfect."
"These Easter Eggs are beautiful," said James proudly, "Plus, they'll give me something to remember you by when I go away to Hogwarts."
"That's what I was aiming for," smiled Lily, "I know we're tight and I know it might be hard for you these early years at Hogwarts when I'm not there with you. That's also why I painted. I'm really gifted at painting and my painting skills and style are distinct. It is my fondest hope that you will think of me when you look at these eggs while away at Hogwarts."
"I will," promised James, "Thank you, Lily, for the time, effort and dedication to detail you have put into making these Easter Eggs for me. They are beautiful and the visuals for the spring and nature themes are perfect."
"Which egg is your favorite?" Lily asked James curiously.
"The flower one," said James thoughtfully, "It looks like the egg it would have taken you the most amount of time and effort to complete."
"It was," confirmed Lily.
"The accurate detail has all the feeling of being a gift to me," said James sincerely, "Since your name is the name of a flower, I also will most associate this egg with you."
"That makes a lot of sense," nodded Lily.
""Thank you, again, " Lily, said James warmly, "These eggs will be special to me."
"I'm glad to know my work was appreciated," said Lily happily, "Happy Easter James."
"Happy Easter Lily," returned James.
