On Saturday, May 28st, 2022, at 1 P.M. Hogwarts time, James and Lily were in Lily's room to record another video for Lily Luna's World.
"Hello, all," greeted Lily cheerfully as the recording began, "My name is Lily Luna Potter and welcome back to Lily Luna's World. I am once again joined by my favorite brother James Sirius Potter and today we are going to be reviewing the book Harry Potter and the Daethly Hallows."
James held up the book for the viewers to see the front cover.
This cover had a huge prominence of orange and depicted Harry with his right had held up. The title Harry Potter was in bold red lettering and the subtitle and the Deathly Hallows below it in black.
"So," began Lily, "We are again not going to cover everything but are going to pick our spots. One major difference between Harry Potter and the Daaethly Hallows is how little time is spent at Hogwarts although the climax is still set at Hogwarts."
"Yes," nodded James, "The Horcrux Hunt and being out on the road both provided a fresh reading experience and added tension to the story and you never felt comfortable about what might happen to dad."
"Deathly Hallows is largely a war story and it is definitely the darkest and most intense of the seven canon Harry Potter books," agreed Lily seriously, "I think all readers knew going into reading this book that there would be multiple deaths. That said, I really hate Colin's death from a literary standpoint because of how random and unnecessary it felt."
"Colin's death neither added to the plot nor symbolized anything," observed James, "Mad Eye died serving a protector on the seven Potters run and his death symbolized that even the best us are mortal. "
"FUCK MUNDUNGUS FLETCHER!' interjected Lily angrily.
"Why was he trusted with a job like that?" wondered James.
"Coward," spat Lily, "To me the death that hit the hardest was Dobby's. Even though he wasn't intending to die, his death still had a feeling of self sacrifice to it. You know my middle name is Luna and that dad named me after his dear friend Luna Lovegood. Well, both of my favorite Luna moments come from the Deathly Hallows. The first was when she gave that moving speech about Dobby after his death. The second was when she helped dad get some peace and quiet right after the Battle of Hogwarts when he was tired and unwanting of attention."
"Luna was a far better friend than Ron ever was," said James bluntly, "If Luna had gone on the Horcrux Hunt she would NEVER have bailed on dad."
"What makes me the angriest with Ron," snarled Lily, "Is him literally shouting 'YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD! YOU HAVE NO FAMILY!" to Harry's face before leaving. You don't say something like that to a true orphan no matter how mad you are."
"And the wearing of the Horcrux is NOT an excuse for his leaving," added James clearly, "Dad and Hermione both wore it as well and neither of them abandoned each other or the mission."
"And Ron was at the least risk of the three," said Lily matter of factly, "Hermione was in danger from being muggleborn and dad was personally targeted by Voldemort. And dad was quite right to call him out on knowing what he had signed up for. Ron knew it wasn't going to be flowers and chocolates."
"If only dad would have cut ties with the disloyal fair weather friend in fourth year," said James thoughtfully, "He might have made other and better friends as a result of having done so."
"Dad gave Ron too much leeway because of his friendless formative years," said Lily sadly, "But, let it always be remembered that he was NOT dad's first friend. Hagrid was."
"Moving on," transitioned James, "The Tale of the Three Brothers was super cool. "
"I love how the third brother was the wisest because he was the humblest," cooed Lily quietly, "The first two brothers self defeated themselves against death through their combativeness and their arrogance."
"I don't see any of the Deathly Hallows as being very useful," said James thoughtfully, "The Resurrection Stone is self explanatory. The owner of the Elder Wand must always fear being targeted. And while an Invisibility Cloak might protect you from the enemy, it makes the risk of being killed by freindly fire far greater. "
"Interesting perspective," replied Lily, "I'd the Invisibility Cloak is nice in day to day use for people who just want tp be left alone and dad put it to good use at the end of the war to get some peace and quiet while Luna distracted everybody. "
"I don't like dad putting the Elder Wand back in Dumbledore's tomb," explained James, "Because of the fact that the Elder Wand is passed by defeat and not just murder. Depending on how loose the definition of defeat is, someone could defeat dad and make himself or herself the master or mistress of the Elder Wand. It would have been far better to have snapped the Elder Wand in half and thrown the resultant pieces into the Black Lake and let the wood rot away from water damage."
"Here's a controversial topic," smirked Lily, 'The epilogue."
"As it is, "answered James, "I'd have preferred the story to have ended at The Flaw in the Plan. It have been different if there would have been chapters about the years right after the war. How did George cope with Fred's death? What kind of life did Teddy have growing up after his parents died in the war. Exactly how and why did dad choose the names he did for us and our brother. When did Neville replace Professor Sprout and why did she leave? Things like that. To just jump nineteen years ahead was jarring."
"It would have been better to cut it off at The Flaw in the Plan," agreed Lily, "And our brother's name is terrible."
"Snape did NOT deserve to have a baby named after him," spat James bitterly, "He was partly responsible for dad being an orphan because of the information he passed to Voldemort, he bullied dad, Neville, and Hermione throughout their Hogwarts years, and he never actually loved Grandma Lily. He only had a morbid crush on her. He never cared about her as a person. He joined the Death Eaters, an organization that wanted wipe out people like her. Grandma Lily should have ended her friendship with Snape sooner and I think she died knowing that."
"I can't pretend anymore," remembered Lily, "You've chosen your way and I've chosen mine. I think Grandma Lily realized her friendship with Snape was toxic and one sided. If they had become a couple it would have become more toxic."
"Grandpa James had his flaws," said James clearly, "But, he had far more true love for Grandma Lily that Snape ever did."
"The absolute best view that can be taken of Snape is that he is an antihero," said Lily coldly, "To me he will always be a bitter bullying bigot. Fuck Snape apologists. Rubeus, Alastor, and Cedric would have all been better name choices. But I think we should start to think about wrapping this viedo up."
"So," said James, "I'd give Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows an eight out of ten. Being on the road away from Hogwarts was a breath of fresh air as a reader and it was nice seeing a chapter from the Dark Side's point of view to start the story. The Battle of Hogwarts was epic in its own way. But this book had too many flaws to be a ten and I'm taking another point off for the epilogue."
"I'll agree with eight out of ten," said Lily clearly, 'Now, I want to make this clear, we will NOT be reviewing Harry Potter and Cursed Child."
"That book was Hot Garbage That Should Have Stayed in Someone's Own Head Without Publication. Period," piped up James bluntly.
"For my favorite brother, James Sirius Potter, this is Lily Luna Potter speaking for Lily Luna's World. Until next time, Potters out."
And James and Lily both waved at their viewers as the recorded ended.
