Chapter 7
"We set our coordinates to the closest Titan Pokemon…" Arven stretched his arms as he, Aeon and Kai approached Koraidon and Miraidon. Both Pokemon were both lying on the ground, ready to be ridden. Kai ran over to Miraidon, and Arven went over to Koraidon.
Both boys turned their head to Aeon, who stood still and stared.
"H-Hey, Aeon…" Kai said. "Why- Why don't you come over here and ride with m-"
Aeon immediately went over to Arven and Koraidon and climbed on.
"Aw maaaaaaan…" Kai moaned.
"C'mon," Arven said. "Let's get going." Arven drove ahead, and Kai followed.
A Tinkatink was carefully making her 16th hammer for the day. It had a nice shape. The young Pokémon started hitting the floor with it and looked satisfied with the dent it left on the arid ground it stood on.
Suddenly, the earth started to tremble, and Tinkatink slowly looked up to a shadow of a Pokémon that was way, way, way bigger than anything she'd seen before.
It was a massive Klawf. And he was running right toward her. Dust clouds emerged from every step the 4-legged creature made. Every breath it took blasted gusts of dust that rose and disappeared like smoke. Despite the size difference,Tinkatink raised and shook her tiny hammer in protest as the Klawf approached, as though she were ready to fight.
The massive Klawf didn't even notice as he ran over the poor Tinkatink, who was sent flying over his head. After landing on her stomach, the Tinkatink looked to her right and saw that the hammer she had made had been broken.
She glared and started crawling toward her broken hammer with renewed vigor.
"We're here!" Arven cried, as he and Kai used their respective Pokémon to drift and stop right in front of a massive mountain. Climbing on the mountain was a massive Klawf, who seemed to be looking for something.
"Holy-... That thing's HUGE!" Kai cried as he stepped off Miraidon and returned him into his ball.
"Very," Arven said as he and Aeon stepped off of Koraidon and sent him to his ball.
"So, what're we gonna do? Catch it? I kinda wanna catch it." Kai said.
"Uh- no?" Arven said.
"Why not?" Kai and Aeon asked at the same time and turned to Arven, who looked at both of them.
"Uh- I mean, there's no specific reason… I mean, we have to weaken it first."
"Okay, and THEN we'll catch it?" Kai said.
"Yeah, sure, do whatever you want with it once we're done." Arven made a shooing motion with his hand. "Anyway, we've got a battle to win. Aeon? Stay back. It's gonna get dangerous."
"May I hold your backpack?" Aeon asked.
Arven raised his eyebrows.
"Huh? I mean- You don't have to. It can stay on my back fine while I'm battling."
Aeon stared at him with unblinking eyes, and Arven sighed.
"Fine, fine. I bet you're gonna feel useless if you don't, so here," He took off his backpack and handed it over to Aeon. "There. Happy?"
Aeon hugged it and smiled.
"Yes," He said.
"D'awww…" Kai said.
"Shut it," Arven said to Kai, turning and glaring at him. "Anyway, ready?"
Kai and Arven shared a nod before approaching the massive Klawf. Its beady eyes spun to the two of them the moment they came close. Kai and Arven whipped out their Pokéballs from their pockets at the exact same time and threw them, unleashing their Pokémon. Kai's Quaxly let out a battle cry, and Skwovet roared a tiny little roar as well.
Both trainers then raised their wrists to their chests, showing their invokers that were wrapped around them like watches and pressed the sigil, causing them both to shine brightly like stars before engaging their armor. The both of them became clad in armor. Klawf leapt from the mountain upon sensing the danger, and then bellowed a terrible roar that sent an intense wind at the two trainers and Pokémon, who shielded themselves from the blast. Then, the Klawf prepared itself to fight.
The titan Pokémon raised its claws and slashed in an X-motion, firing a X-Scissor that flew like a projectile toward its four enemies, who leapt and scattered to dodge like pins avoiding a bowling ball.
"Quaxly! Water gun!" Kai cried.
Quaxly fired a torrent of water from his beak as Kai went onto and surfed on top of the beam as it flew. He shot his arm out at the Klawf as the torrent approached the massive Rock type.
"Take this, SWIFT!" Kai began firing star-shaped projectiles at the massive Pokémon as Quaxly's water beam began circling around his massive body. The Pokémon cried out in pain.
Meanwhile, Arven ran under the Klawf's body with his Skwovet on his shoulder.
"Together, Skwovet! Bullet Seed!" Arven shouted as he aimed his arm cannon, and together, Pokémon and Trainer fired a barrage of seeds under the Klawf's body.
"How do you like that!?" Kai cried, circling the massive Pokémon who bellowed in pain. "Let's go for the finish!" Kai pointed his finger, and the water gun soared high into the sky before making a U turn and flying down straight for Klawf.
Aeon smiled. The battle should be over soon.
Klawf looked up with intense anger in its eyes. Just as Kai was about to land, Klawf swung his massive claws to intercept the boy who rode the water gun and sent him flying into the ground like a spiked volleyball. All of the damage Kai sustained transferred and surged into Quaxly- who fell to the ground immediately. The water beam it fired exploded and rained harmlessly onto Klawf's head.
The smile Aeon had was wiped from his face.
The Klawf, now surging with anger, looked down at the floor while taking the thousands of seeds Arven and Skwovet were firing from below his body. Klawf decided to do one thing to stop the both of them at the same time: He hopped and slammed his body onto the ground. Clouds of dust flew from his body the moment he did this, and the earth began to tremble.
Aeon watched with an open mouth and a look of surprise. Suddenly, he bared his teeth. His eyes widened like a beast's, and his fists clenched. He could hear his heartbeat ringing in his ears.
"How…" Aeon muttered. "How… DARE YOU..!"
Within an instant, Aeon disappeared from sight due to the extreme level of speed he had attained.
Then, within a fraction of a second, Aeon's fist slammed into Klawf's forehead, sending him flying over the mountain like a pebble.
As he flew away from sight, Aeon fell to his knees. He clenched the arm he used to punch Klawf into the sky and stared at it as electricity sparked from it. It twitched abnormally.
"What's… What's wrong with me…?" Aeon said. "What's… what is happening.. To me..? My arm… why can't I feel my arm…?" Clutching his arm, Aeon rose up from his feet slowly, and then immediately fell back to the ground as though an immense weight had pushed him down. That weight was his arm.
"What's happening…? Someone… Help me…! Arven..!" Aeon's eyes were slowly beginning to close.
"Aeon!" Aeon managed to see Kai running toward him with Quaxly in his arms. He crouched down to his level. "A-Aeon, are you all right?"
"Arven… where… is Arven..?" Aeon asked.
"He's fine, he just can't move because his invoker's too heavy for him. It'll take about ten minutes for him to be able to move again… Quaxly's down but not out, that's why I'm able to move."
Quaxly groaned as he climbed up onto his Trainer's shoulder. He sighed and wiped his hair with his wings. "What happened?" Kai asked. "I was about to get up, but then suddenly, the Klawf was sent flying…"
"I-... It must have been… frightened and attacked by something…" Aeon murmured. "I don't know…"
"What attacked it?!" Kai turned his head around. "Where'd it go? Maybe it can help-"
"It's gone…. I think… Ugh!"
"Oh, jeez-" Kai spun back to Aeon. "Are you okay? Did it hurt you?"
"...Yes…" Aeon said. "It did.."
"Oh yeah..? Well, that means it's gotta pay." Kai turned around and let out Miraidon from his Pokéball. "Miraidon, take Aeon, Arven and Skwovet out of here and to the closest Pokécenter.. Quaxly and I have a date with that Klawf."
Miraidon nodded and went to Aeon, lifting him off from the floor with his head and having the boy lay flat on the Pokémon's back. Aeon's eyes shifted to Kai.
"If I could move, I would hit you...!" Aeon said. "I'd knock you out before you get yourself hurt for no good reason…!"
"Then do it," Kai said. He smiled a playful smile at Aeon, who glared.
"Do you have any idea how stupid you're being!?" Aeon cried.
"Hm, I've never seen you this emotional. It's kinda cute."
"Do you think this is a joke?!"
Kai sighed. "I've made up my mind." He said with a serious tone. "You can't stop me."
"It beat you and Arven when you fought together! How can you think you can face it alone!? Do you have any idea how stupid that is?!"
Kai turned and smiled.
"Wanna know what else is stupid?" Kai said, regaining his playful voice. "Fighting against a Champion-ranked Trainer like Nemona. It's also not smart to fight against a Titan Pokémon with a Pokémon I barely have experience with. So yeah, I'd say I can be stupid sometimes."
"Then why don't you-"
"It hurt you, Aeon. That's why," Kai said, having a more stern and serious voice in his tone all over again. He clenched his fists. "I won't be satisfied until I knock it out at least once. Quaxly- I'm sure you're angry too. That Klawf beat us and thinks it can get away with hurting our friends…."
Quaxly glared and nodded along with his trainer.
"Good, I'm glad you're thinking the same thing. Miraidon, get going!" Kai shouted.
"No! You idiot!" Aeon said. "I-... It's- it didn't- It didn't hur-"
Miraidon started speeding along, and Kai never heard Aeon cry out that he wasn't hurt by the Klawf because of the engine roaring noise Miraidon made when he drove off.
"Ready, buddy?" Kai asked. "It's just gonna be us two against that big thing. Let's get going."
