School ended, and the three friends headed toward Charlie's house. Strange enough, it looked like a castle with an apple theme. Clearly, her father was a bit spoiled by the amount of money he made during his circus days. However, that didn't change the fact that he loved Charlie more than the money he made.
"Dad! I'm home!" Charlie called out.
A man wearing a wide-brimmed white top hat with a golden snake and a red apple over golden spikes, which resemble a crown, and a red-lined and red-trimmed white popped-collared suit with several golden buttons. His coat was worn over a light red-and-white striped waistcoat with two golden buttons and a small, accessorized black bowtie stepped out of his room.
Seeing his daughter, she slid down the rail and landed in front of the group, making Charlie sigh at her father's silly actions.
"Charlie! Welcome home, my little apple. How was school?" He said, pinching her cheek.
"Just fine, Dad," Charlie said, smiling sheepishly as her cheek was pulled.
"Glad to hear it." He said before seeing Danny and Emily.
"Well, look what the snake dragged in! Good to see you, Daniel!" He said, hugging him.
"Good to see you too, Mr. Morningstar," Danny said, not used to Charlie's father.
"And Emily! Welcome! Nice to see you, dear." He said, kissing her hand.
"Thank you?" Emily said, confused.
"Dad, we're going to take care of our homework, and please, don't get any wild ideas!" Charlie said, sighing.
"Oh, you wound me, Charlie. As if I would do that to my own daughter." Mr. Morningstar said, faking a heartbreak.
"Dad..." Charlie said, frowning.
"I kid, I kid." He laughs.
With that, the three head upstairs, passing a picture that Danny couldn't help but frown at. It was an image of Charlie's parents back in their happy days. Danny never met her mother, but Charlie spoke highly of her.
They entered Charlie's room and placed their bags on the floor. Charlie sighs before sitting on her bed.
"I'm sorry about my Dad." She said, knowing they had to deal with this each time they came over.
"Charlie, we have been coming over for years now. I think we are used to your dad, somewhat." Emily said.
"Yeah, and you know what my Dad is like." Danny threw in.
Charlie smiles, having forgotten that her friends put up with her father's silliness. Even if he said weird things. They soon started on their homework, hoping to get it done before they went over Charlie's idea for her new hotel.
One hour later,
Once they were finished with their homework, Charlie and Emily helped Dnany with his math, Charlie showed a rough draft of her hotel, in color crayons. Danny and Emily smile, knowing that Charlie loves her color crayons. Luckily, Emily drew a better image of Charlie's hotel, giving a much better idea of what she wanted it to look like. Suddenly, Charlie's cell phone rings and she checks the caller ID.
"Hey, Vaggie! What's up?" Charlie said, answering it.
"Well, we're going to lose her for a while," Danny said, sighing.
"Let her enjoy it. I think it's nice to see her so happy." Emily said.
Danny nods, blushing a bit. Since these two girls saved him 2 years ago, Danny admitted he gained a crush on both of them. However, Charlie was in a relationship and Emily was too busy at her home to even ask. Still, he did like being around them.
"Oh, right! I just remember!" He said, making Emily turn to him.
"My parents finally finished their portal. They're going to turn it on in a few days." Danny told her.
"They did?" Emily said, a bit worried.
"I know, I know. But maybe they could finally put this whole ghost thing to rest after it turns on." Danny told her.
Emily sighs. She didn't like that Danny's parents were messing with the dead. She understood that they wanted to prove themselves to the town, but Emily was more afraid of what could happen if they did open a portal to the Realm of the Dead.
"Hey, kids! How is everything going?"
They all turned and saw Charlie's father bringing up some slushies.
"Got to go, Vaggie," Charlie said, making a kissing sound before hanging up her phone.
"Great, so far, Mr. Morningstar," Emily said, taking the vanilla slushie.
"Thanks, Dad," Charlie said, taking the strawberry slushie.
"Kiwi Fudge, right?" Danny asked, taking his.
"You bet. Give it a shot, myself. Not bad!" Mr. Morningstar smiles.
Charlie and Emily always thought it was strange that Danny mixed his fudge with kiwi and dripped his french fries in his milkshake. Still, they knew better than to make him stop. As they drank their slushies, Danny felt his phone buzz before pulling it out.
"Yeah, Jazz?" He answered.
Emily and Charlie sigh. Being the only child of their families made them lonely since Danny had a sibling. Though the two were like sisters, they both wanted a sibling when they were younger.
Mr. Morningstar notices and sighs. Even since he and his wife became estranged, he was left raising Charlie by himself. It was hard, but since she made some friends, Charlie has been very happy.
"Fine, fine! My homework is finished, already." Danny said, shaking his head.
He hung up and sighed.
"Sorry, girls. But I have to get home." He said.
"It's fine, Danny," Charlie said, smiling.
"Yeah, it's always great to have you come over," Emily said, also smiling.
The three hugged before Danny headed home, taking his slushie. Charlie and Emily sighed before Charlie's father shook his head.
"When are you two going to stop acting like this?' He said with a knowing smirk.
"What do you mean?" Emily asked.
"You girls always wanted a third person in your group. You both feel empty without a third person." He said, knowing them well.
"Come on, Dad! He has a family!" Charlie said, huffing.
Her father laughs before clearing up what he meant.
"I mean, you two want to invite him to your plans, but since he's a guy, you're afraid of asking him because he's not a girl like you." He said, knowing about their plans.
"DAD!" Charlie blushed, wondering where he got those ideas.
Her father laughs again before waving her down.
"Easy Charlie," He said as his embarrassed daughter tried to hit him.
Emily was also blushing, knowing Charlie's father was right. Since meeting and helping Danny, he felt like he filled the last spot in their group. While he wasn't a girl, Emily felt it was wrong to kick him out. She looked at the clock and saw she also had to get home.
"I got to go, Charlie." She said, making the other girl turn to her.
"Sure. Thanks again for your help, Emily." Charlie said as the two girls hugged.
Emily nodded and headed home. Charlie sighs, feeling lowly.
"Charlie, you know you can invite them to stay the night." Her father said, knowing she hated being alone.
"I tried. You know how Sera is." Charlie said.
Her father rolled his eyes. He met Sera once before and she was way too busy to even notice Emily being friends with his daughter.
"How about a show?" He asked, making her smile.
"Well, you did always wow the crowd back in the day," Charlie said.
With that, the two Morningstars headed to a different part of their home. However, Charlie still felt sad on the inside. Danny and Emily went back home, and Vaggie was stuck at hers for a while. She just wished that all of her friends could meet up without everyone trying to pull them apart.
The next day,
Danny walked downstairs, ready to get his breakfast. He saw a text from both Charlie and Emily after he woke up, both of them hoping to see him at school and then at his place. Danny smiles, still having a bit of a hard time with those two spending their time with a nobody like him.
'Come on, Fenton. You're not a nobody.' Danny reminds himself.
"Morning, Jazz," Danny said, seeing his sister already packed.
"Morning, Danny." She said, placing her books in her bag.
"Let me guess, getting a head start before Mom and Dad show up?" Danny asked her.
"You know how they react every time they discover something new. I rather not go through that again." Jazz said, sighing.
Also like him, Jazz wasn't into ghosts as much as their parents. While Danny is willing to let them have their excitement, Jazz keeps trying to bring them back down to Earth. Danny grabbed his breakfast before his phone went off again.
"Are those two still hanging out with you?" Jazz asked.
"Jazz, I told you before. They saved me from being someone I'm not. I not only owe them my life, but I'm thankful for what they did for me. And aren't you friends with Charlie's girlfriend?" Danny told her.
Jazz sighs. She too was thankful for Charlie and Emily saving her brother, and Vaggie was a great person to talk to. Jazz has been trying to get her to open up to more people besides her and Charlie.
"Look, I'm not saying they're bad people. I just thought you have different kinds of friends." Jazz said.
Danny rolled his eyes. While two somewhat rich girls took pity on a middle-class boy, they didn't treat him like he was lower than them. They also don't put up with Dash and his goons.
"They're fine as they are, Jazz," Danny told her.
Jazz waved her hands, showing she didn't mean anything bad about his choice. Still, she did owe those two for saving her brother.
Casper High,
Danny met up with Charlie and Emily and they started to talk a bit about their plans. Little did they know, they were being watched by two people.
"There he goes again, hanging out with the rich girls." Sam Manson said, frowning.
"How did he even get them?" Tucker Foley asked, jealous.
Sam and Tucker see those three together all the time, and Sam doesn't like that two other rich girls are using that boy. Tucker was more upset that that boy won over two of the prettiest girls in school. They didn't know the real story behind those three, so Sam was trying to think of a way to save him.
"Sam, please tell me you're not going to try and spit them up?" Tucker asked, noticing her face.
"They're using him, Tucker. We can't let that happen any longer." Sam said.
Tucker rolled his eyes. They barely know anything about that boy, but leave it to Sam to get the wrong idea about a person because of their looks and life. Tucker could see that those three were happy together and the boy wasn't treated like a slave at any point.
The bell rings and the three head to different classes, knowing they will meet up at lunchtime. Sam frowns, trying to think of a way to save that boy as Tucker shakes his head.
'This is going to get worse.' Tucker thought.
And that's it for now. Before we get into the part where the three get their powers, I wanted to explain a bit about their lives, and how close Charlie, Emily, and Danny are. As well as explain a few other things. Now, I was asked about pairing. qazse asked me about having all three of them together, even though Charlie is already dating Vaggie. And guilhermefinamori asked me about just having Danny and Emily be together. Now, both ideas have crossed my mind, but I have yet to make an answer. Though I did hint it in the chapter.
As you can see, Charlie and Emily want to invite Danny into more of their activities, but they are just unsure if he'll like them because he's a guy. They're not being racist. They're just unsure of how Danny would react to them. And it turns out that Jazz and Vaggie are friends in this story. And I brought in Tuck and Sam. And despite not knowing Danny, Sam doesn't like that he hanging out with Charlie and Emily while Tucker is mostly jealous of Danny. And since they didn't know that Charlie and Emily saved Danny's life, they don't know why Danny is hanging out with them.
I'm going to cover a bit more about their lives before I get to their powers. So, that part is coming. I just want to cover a bit more before we start getting to the action.
