Danny stood at his locker, grabbing his stuff. All while ignoring Sam next to him. She was once again trying to convince him that Charlie and Emily were not the people he thought them to be and how they were using him, again! However, what Sam said next pushed him.
"And you believe everything they said like you're their pet. Come on, Danny, you can better than..."
SLAM!
Danny slams his locker door closed so hard, it made everyone who heard it jump, even Sam.
"I'm tired of sounding like a broken record, Sam. I'm tired of you trying to force me away from Charlie and Emily because YOU can't accept that they are different from most other rich girls! I'm tired of explaining to you that they saved my life. If you think I'm going to say "Yeah, Sam. They are not worth being my friends. I should hang out with you a lot more.", then you have no idea HOW to make friends!" Danny told her.
"AND I'M NOT THEIR PET!" He shouted.
Sam looked ready to say more, but Danny over-spoke her.
"Don't you dare! No matter what you say, I'm not leaving Charlie and Emily because you can't see past your own little world that NOTHING is what you think it is!" He told her.
"Danny, they..." Sam started, only for Danny to cut her off.
"SHUT UP!" He shouted, shocking her.
"I'm not listening to any more of your so-called reasons! If you can't accept that Charlie and Emily are different from most girls, then you have NO RIGHT to try and force us apart. I'll say this one last time. THEY...SAVED...MY...LIFE! They saved me from going down a dark road and I'm grateful for it. So, if you want to continue to try and force me away from Charlie and Emily, then I'm filing a restraining order on you!" He said, turning away.
"Danny, you can't just trust them like that!" Sam yelled, but Danny walked away.
"I can. And I do. Goodbye, Sam." He said, going to find his friends.
Sam wanted to chase after him but started to hear whispers from her classmates.
"I can't believe she's still trying to drag Fenton away from his friends."
"Yeah, they've been together for two years now."
"You would think she'd get the hint."
"Never thought I see someone so petty trying to break up a group of friends."
"I AM NOT PETTY!" Sam shouted, but everyone ignored her.
"And she wonders why no one agrees with her ideas."
"Yeah, I say Fenton is better with those two."
Sam growls. She couldn't believe that everyone was against her. Why couldn't they see that Danny was being used?! Charlie and Emily were not his friends! They COULDN'T be his friends! And she was going to prove it.
Later,
Danny sighs as Charlie and Emily growl in anger.
"OUR PET?!" They shouted, not believing Sam would call Danny that.
"Well, I'm done trying to explain to Sam that you girls are my friends, and I'm going to ask for that restraining order, Charlie." He said.
"Gladly! I am so sick and tired of that Goth Bitch!" Charlie said, pulling out her phone.
"Add me to it as well," Emily said, also tired of Sam.
Everyone was tired of Sam trying to break them up because she thinks that Charlie and Emily are like other rich girls. Danny never forgot what Charlie and Emily did for him. He was happy to have them as friends. It didn't matter if he gained crushes on them. They were his saviors and he owned them his life.
"Done, and done," Charlie said, hanging up.
"So, she can't be near us?" Emily asked.
"It takes effect next week, but there's nothing she can do about it. My dad hires the best lawyers who won't turn a blind eye to everything. Not even if someone tried to pay them more money." Charlie said.
"Glad to hear that," Danny said, knowing that Charlie and her father don't use their money for everything.
"So, what do we do about Sam until then?" Emily asked.
"Ignore her," Vaggie said, walking up.
"Hey, Vaggie," Danny said, making the girl look at him.
She couldn't understand why he was so nice to her. She was having a bit of trouble believing that he stood up for her and Charlie when Charlie's ex dismissed them. Even stranger is that he defended them despite his own crush on Charlie.
"Are you okay, Vag?" Charlie asked, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah. Listen, Charlie? Can I speak with Danny?" She said, surprising everyone.
"Well, I'm not against it, but why?" Charlie asked.
"Just want to see why you're good friends with him," Vaggie said, confusing Danny.
"Well, okay. Do you want to speak with him alone?" Charlie said then asked.
Vaggie nodded, making Charlie nod.
"Okay." She said, walking away.
"Don't hurt him," Emily said, following Charlie.
"That's a first. You never asked Charlie if you could spend time with someone else." Danny told her.
"I know. Listen, Danny. I wanted you to know that I don't hate you. I'm glad that Charlie helped you. She helped me as well. So, that's something we have in common." Vaggie said, sighing.
"I also know about your crush on Charlie and Emily." She added.
"You..do?" Danny asked, shocked.
"Yes. Being Charlie's girlfriend, you can guess I may not like the idea of someone crushing on my girl, but you seem to respect Charlie's decision. So, I'm not mad about it." Vaggie said, making him sigh in relief.
"Tell me, why? Why are you in love with Charlie? Is it because she saved your life?" Vaggie asked.
"That's only part of it," Danny said, thinking back.
"I didn't gain my crush on Charlie and Emily until our first year as friends. I never had much luck with girls. I couldn't even speak without freezing up or making myself look like a fool. Dash played on that a lot before I even met Charlie and Emily. But as I got close to them, I started to notice a few things about them that made them stand out from other girls. They were kind, caring, and understood that everyone was the same, money or not. Charlie once told me she wanted to help others because it was the right thing to do. She saved me that day because I needed help. Emily is in the same boat. Sometimes, I think they're sisters due to how alike they think." Danny chuckles.
"Yeah, I see that a few times too." Vaggie smiles.
"Charlie is pretty, but you don't need me telling you that," Danny added, joking a bit.
Vaggie blushed, agreeing with him.
"But she's also different than most girls. Charlie speaks her mind freely. She's sad about her parents, but she doesn't let it get her down. She tries to bring a smile every day, singing a song that she made up each day. I will admit I question why she sings "Inside every demon, there's a rainbow." during her song." Danny went on.
"So, when you learn that Charlie was dating me, you chose not to seek out your feelings?" Vaggie asked.
"I'm still trying to understand the whole thing myself. I'm not upset that Charlie is dating you. I care about her happiness. Like I told that jerk, as long as Charlie is happy, then that's fine with me." Danny said, surprising Vaggie.
"You are far more different than most boys I knew." She said, still having a hard time believing it.
"I know that you don't have a good history with them, but can I ask why?" Danny told her.
"It's kind of personal." She said, looking away.
"Okay," Danny said, shocking her.
"That it?" Vaggie asked.
"Yeah." Danny nods.
"You're not even going to ask me to tell you?" Vaggie asked again.
"You said it's personal. I have no right to force you to tell me. You decide to tell me when you feel ready. I'm not Sam." Danny told her.
Vaggie looked away. Just who was he? She could tell that Danny meant those things. He cares about Charlie's feelings and happiness. He's not upset that he lost his chance with Charlie. Which means he...
"So, you're not longer for Emily since Charlie is out of your reach?" She asked.
"That doesn't seem fair," Danny said, shaking his head.
"She may not be dating anyone, but it seems unfair to both Charlie and Emily if I just long for Emily because Charlie is dating you. I like them both. Charlie and Emily had been friends long before I joined. I mentioned before that they are like sisters and it feels wrong that I should go after Emily because I can't get Charlie. I do have a crush on them both, and Charlie did tell me that she was bisexual, which I'm still shocked about." Danny told Vaggie.
"Danny..." She said, shocked.
"I won't be like Dash. I care about Charlie and Emily. If they find someone that makes them happy, then I want them to be happy. I won't force them to give up their happiness to make me happy. I would never do that." Danny said, shaking his head.
Vaggie was shocked even more. She could hardly believe what she was hearing. In all her life, each guy she meant didn't care about her and just used her. For a time, she was okay with it. Then she thought she found her soulmate until he dumped her for a prettier girl. She decided that she would never date another man as long as she lived and told herself that all men were the same. And yet, here was a guy who was nothing like them. Everything he said was honest and true. He didn't want to betray their trust after they saved his life. He also cared about them, not wanting to force them to give up everything just to make him happy.
'Who the hell is this guy?' Vaggie thought.
"Vaggie? Are you okay?" Danny asked, snapping her from her thoughts.
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Vaggie asked.
"I'm Danny Fenton," Danny said, not understanding her question.
"No, I mean, yes, I know that. I mean..." Vaggie tried to explain before sighing.
'Why is he so hard to figure out?' She asked herself.
"Hey, Vaggie. Charlie, Emily, and I are thinking about hitting the restaurant where we first met up. Want to come with us?" Danny asked her.
"What?" She asked, surprised.
"We've been thinking about inviting you to our hangouts, but due to the ghost attacks, we haven't had much of a chance to do so," Danny told her.
Vaggie still couldn't understand him. And yet, she felt herself wanting to learn more. Vaggie found herself smiling as she answered.
"Sure. I like to."
And here's the chapter. Another run-in with Sam and Danny had enough. But as you can see, Sam isn't going to stop. Then we change to the idea where Danny and Vaggie spend time getting to know each other. Danny also explains that while he does have a crush on both Charlie and Emily, he doesn't want to force them to make him happy if they already are. He wants to be fair to both of them and doesn't feel right about pinning for Emily since Charlie is dating Vaggie. And Vaggie still having a hard time trying to figure out the kind of person Danny is. But it seems that a friendship is starting to bloom.
And today is my 34th birthday!
