Chapter 2: Lights, Camera, Action

Danny, Jazz, Andy and Liv were walking through Central Park when they saw a movie crew. To Danny and Jazz's surprise, they recognized Andy and Liv. "Hi, Andy. Hi, Liv." A cameraman said as he and a woman sitting next to him waved.

"Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad." Andy replied as he and Liv ran to hug their parents.

"Who're your new friends?" Mrs. Baker asked.

"These are Danny Fenton and his sister Jazz, Mom." Liv answered.

"Nice to meet you, kids." Mr. Baker said. "I'm Jay Baker and this is my wife Melissa. We're movie directors albeit I also operate the camera on occasion."

"Nice to meet you too, Mr. Baker." Danny nervously said.

"So, are your parents the ghost hunters Liv expected to meet at the symposium?" Jay asked.

"Dad!" Liv scolded her father.

"Yes, they're those Fentons, Mr. Baker." Danny answered, afraid Jay would disapprove him because of them.

"What're they like, kids?" Melissa Baker asked.

"They're too trigger happy which normally is a good thing for ghost hunters but they disregard the possibility of holding conversations with Danny Phantom, Mom." Andy replied, teasing Danny.

"Was Amity Park's resident ghost really at the symposium, kids?" Melissa asked. "I watched the news on my smartphone but I wanted confirmation."

"Yes, and it was awesome!" Liv happily exclaimed. "I never heard a ghost speak before!"

"Danny Phantom came to New York at the time the ghost hunters who chase him did?" Jay asked. "Too much of a coincidence."

"May I ask for Solar-Man's autograph?" Jazz quickly asked. "I'm such a big fan of his!"

Having heard that, the actor playing Solar-Man approached them. "It'll be my pleasure. Who am I dedicating it to?" He asked.

"Jasmine Fenton." Jazz answered as she produced a pen and an autograph book, which surprised Danny since they weren't originally expecting to visit a movie production.

After Jazz got her autograph, Melissa resumed talking. "Kids, you may stay and watch the movie being made but you'll need to stay quiet on the set."

"I'm trying to get to know Liv better, Mrs. Baker, so I'd rather be somewhere I can hold a conversation." Danny replied. "Sorry."

"Central Park still have places I haven't shown you yet, Danny." Liv said.

"You have to show him Roland's ghost dogs." Andy said, making it quite clear what really mattered to him.

"Ghost dogs?" Danny asked in horror, thinking Roland had several Cujos and, based on how the ghosts attacking New York were known for starting tiny and becoming huge if not captured fast enough, had no problem believing New York had its share of ghost puppies growing large.

"Hot dogs, Danny, not actual ghosts." Liv reassured him, realizing what Danny thought. "Some local businesses add "ghost" or some related words on their names."

"I hope Roland's making the hot dog with chocolate syrup and caviar." Andy commented, disgusting Danny.

"I'd rather eat a normal hot dog with ketchup and/or mustard." Danny replied.

"I'm not sure if Roland makes those but he also sells bananice popsicles, Danny." Liv replied.

After they left, they walked until they reached Roland's hot dog stand where Danny, instead of wanting the suggestion made by the vendor, ordered a hot dog with ketchup and mustard. "He didn't seem happy to make a sale." Danny commented.

"He's very sensitive about his creations, Danny." Liv said, remembering how he reacted to her criticism once.

"Ooookay." Danny reluctantly replied and took a bite out of his hot dog. "But this hot dog is good."

"I'm sure he'll like to know that." Liv commented.

"So, Liv, there's something you need to know." Danny said and then felt his ghost sense. "Uh oh."

Skulker then phased his way from the ground. "I'll hang your pelt on my wall." He said.

"Skulker?" Danny asked in frustration.

"Do you know that sapient ghost, Danny?" Liv asked, looking at the ghost in amazement while the civilians ran away.

"He's a tiny blob inside a suit of armor, Liv." Danny said, not caring to say more. "Run."

"Oh, right." Liv replied and ran to a corner. Upon making sure nobody was watching her, she turned herself into Myst and flew back to where she left Danny and Skulker. To her surprise, she saw Danny Fenton forming two rings that turned him into Danny Phantom. "What?"

Skulker shot a rocket missile at Danny and, to their surprise, a pink portal appeared in front of the ghost hero and the missile goes through it. A second portal then appeared next to Skulker, causing him to be hit by his own missile, exposing his tiny body. Myst then tossed a Boo Cap at him, capturing the tiny ghost and undoing the damage the ghost caused.

"Thank you." Danny said but then grew worried. "You know I'm not a bad guy, right?"

"Yes, Danny." Myst answered.

"Phew." Danny replied. "You sound familiar."

"You too, Danny... Fenton." Myst commented.

"What?" Danny was shocked. "I'm Danny Phantom, not Fenton."

"I saw you transforming." Myst stated, making Danny realize there was no point in denying.

"Okay, I'm Danny Fenton but please don't tell my parents." Danny pleaded.

"Your secret is safe with me." Myst replied. "So, what do we do with this ghost?" She asked while showing the Boo Cap with Skulker inside it.

"We'd like to know that as well." Fury added as he, Krush and Glowboo showed up.

"I'm curious since I never met a sapient ghost before today." Krush added. "But we must introduce ourselves first. I'm Krush."

"I'm Fury." Fury added.

"I'm Myst." Myst stated.

"And I am Glowboo." Glowboo said.

"What did you mean by that, Krush?" Danny asked. "Aren't you ghosts as well?" However, as he asked that, he realized they didn't trigger his ghost sense but he thought it was because neither of them appeared at a moment no other ghost was already there.

"Negative." Glowboo said. "I am a robot and they are humans who use devices to gain ghost powers. Based on my analysis of you, you also happen to be a human with ghost powers but no device to transform you."

"Myst already figured out I'm Danny Fenton." Danny said, shocking Fury and Krush.

"What?" Fury was shocked. "You're the guy dating my sis... I mean, dating my superfan Liv Baker?" He tried to correct himself using the same smile he used whenever he tried to claim "ghost force guessing power".

"Your sis..." Danny figured out. "I knew your voices were familiar. You're Andy Baker." He said while pointing at Fury. "And Myst and Krush are Liv Baker and Mike Collins!"

"Great job, Fury." Krush sarcastically replied while glaring at Fury.

"I don't understand." Glowboo stated. "What great job did Krush congratulate Fury for?"

'No doubt this Glowboo is a robot.' Danny thought. "So, what happens now that you know my secret and I know yours?"

"I think we're about to find out." Myst replied as she heard her Ectocap and used it to answer a call from Ms. Jones. "Yes, Ms. Jones." Myst whispered that part so Danny wouldn't hear the name.

"Myst, is everything okay?" Ms. Jones asked.

"Danny Phantom knows our identities and we know his." Myst answered.

"Then open a portal and bring him to our headquarters." Ms. Jones told Myst.

To Danny's surprise, Myst opened a portal and all five of them used it to go what, by context, was the Ghost Force's headquarters. There, she saw Ms. Jones again (he recognized her from the symposium and her unusual hair color) and was even more surprised when he saw her right hand was just as pink.

"Don't look at it, Danny." Ms. Jones said while Andy, Liv and Mike put their Ectocaps to be recharged and Glowboo went to his own recharge station. "I also became part ghost from an accident.

Danny felt his ghost sense being triggered when she approached him for a handshake. "Not the same kind of accident but okay."

A tiny red ghost floated into the room and Danny was ready to hit it with a beam when the others placed themselves in front of him. "Wait!" Ms. Jones said. "Glups is a tame ghost!"

"Okay." Danny said as he turned back into Danny Fenton. "What do we do with Skulker?"

"Who?" Ms. Jones asked in confusion.

"The ghost captured by Liv, Ms. Jones." Danny answered.

"Get me out of here!" Skulker demanded.

"Well, this is a sapient ghost so I won't let it..."

"Him." Danny corrected Ms. Jones.

"So I won't let him near the other ghosts or the devices I power with them but he must be contained somehow." Ms. Jones said. "What do you suggest, Danny?"

"I usually just send the ghosts back to the Ghost Zone." Danny explained.

"Aren't you concerned they return?" Mike asked.

"And what's this Ghost Zone?" Liv excitedly asked while thinking of a world full of ghosts.

"The Ghost Zone is a dimension ghosts come from." Danny answered. "And I never thought of a better idea of what to do with the ghosts I catch."

"You'd better let me go!" Skulker demanded. "I have friends who'll come to New York looking for me!"

"Are they as tiny as you?" Andy mockingly asked.

"I've fought several ghosts before and most of them could pose a threat without armors like Skulker's." Danny stated. "Unless you're ready to face a potential invasion, we should release him back to the Ghost Zone."

"We have no means to reach the Ghost Zone here, Danny." Ms. Jones stated. "Liv can open portals but only between places within our own dimension.

"I can send him through the portal my parents built back home." Danny volunteered. "Just let me put Skulker into a Fenton Thermos."

After Danny explained to Ms. Jones what a Fenton Thermos was, she agreed and Danny sucked Skulker into a thermos as soon as the ghost was released from the Boo Cap. "Interesting invention, Danny." Mike commented. "Does it also undoes the damages caused by the ghosts they capture?"

"Unfortunately not." Danny answered.

"So, besides us, who else knows your secret?" Andy asked Danny.

Danny then explained about his sister, his best friends, and his fruitloop enemy. "That's rough." Liv commented. "We don't have arch or even recurring enemies."

"And who outside this place knows your secret?" Danny asked them.

"I'm the only one who knows Andy, Liv and Mike are Fury, Myst and Krush, Danny." Ms. Jones answered.

After all details were settled, Liv and Danny resumed their date. "So, what did you want to tell before Skulker attacked us?" Liv asked.

"Outside my Danny Phantom alter ego, I'm not exactly popular at my school." Danny answered, confusing Liv.

"Why're you telling me that?" Liv asked.

"Because that's something I feel you should know when I ask you this: would you become my girlfriend?" He asked.

"Before I answer, why did you think I needed to know about your lack of popularity?" Liv asked.

"Because I was afraid you'd accept only to have a change of mind upon learning the loser I am at Casper High, Liv." Danny sadly explained.

"Don't worry about that, Danny." Liv replied. "I'm only concerned about how it'd work between us given our reasons for not leaving our respective home towns on a regular basis."

"Point taken." Danny said. "We can work something if the daughter of filmmakers doesn't mind the loser son of ghost-obsessed parents."

And so, Danny and Liv became a couple.
