Thanks to his connections to Packie and Gerald, Niko becomes somewhat a Made Man in the mafia. Eventually Niko even meets Don Jimmy Pegorino, who sees himself as the Godfather of Liberty City, but he's really not. He's just one of the families. It was for Jimmy that Dash and McCreary's had to kidnap Gracie, as her father was a rival Don to Jimmy.
While working for jimmy himself, Niko does many sussesful jobs, but Jimmy proves to be very paranoid as he even has Niko kill one of Jimmy's own for believing him to be a "nark" (undercover cop). Eventually, with Jimmy's connections, Niko finds the man who betrayed his army unit, the revenge mission that was Niko's true goal along.
But turns out Darko is nothing but a washed up drug addicted loser, who sold out the unit just to fund his addiction. Niko shoots him, but begins to realize that revenge wasn't as satifying as he thought it would be.
Afterwards, Niko is summoned by Pegorino for one final favour: to help with a highly lucrative heroin deal in collusion with Dimitri. A man who betrayed Niko in his journey though Liberty City and man Niko promised himself he would never ever work with ever again, but Jimmy threatens that he'll put a hit on Niko if he doesn't.
However, in the end, Niko finds that sticking to his own principles to be better. And despite the risk, Niko instead sneaks onto a boat Dimitri was using and began shooting all Dimitri's men, slowly making his way towards him.
"Hey Dimitri, I don't think I'll be doing this deal with you. We have other business to finish.. And now.. You're about to learn a lesson, actions have consequences. You screwed me over, now you're paying for it. Shame that'll be the second last thing that goes into your head." Niko said, pointing his famish SMG at Dimitri after having cleared the area of everyone but Dimitri himself.
"You're the one who's going to learn a lesson. People aren't going to be happy if you kill me. [translated] Stupid motherfucker!" Dimitri cried, trying to hide his fear.
"I've never been very popular, don't plan on starting now" Niko deadpan snarked.
Niko shoots him in both kneecaps, then in the head as he was trying to get up.
"I should have put you out of your misery a long time ago. Goodbye, Dimitri."
Niko calls Roman:
"I killed Dimitri, it's over. He was on the Platypus, the boat I arrived in Liberty City on. So it seems it ends where it began." Niko said.
Roman: I guess you did what you felt you had to do. No deal, no money, no hot tubs and models. But Dimitri will not bother you again. I will see you at the wedding, yes? Remember to wear a suit.
"I'll be there Roman, don't worry." Niko said.
Niko calls Kate:
"Hey, Kate. I took your advice. I cut my connections with that man." Niko said, not having the heart to tell her what really happened.
Kate: I'm really proud of you, Niko. It must have been really hard to turn down the money and stick to your principles.
"Well it was the right thing to do. Are you coming to Roman's wedding?" Niko asked.
Kate: ... Can I bring Dash?
"I.. Okay, sure." Niko replied.
Kate drove Dash and herself over to the wedding. Niko was a little disappointed, hoping it would be a date, but whatever, if it made Kate happy. This is probably the only time so far we see Dash wears a dress, or anything femine in general. She's very tomboy. Though the black dress does keep in touch with her goth style, plus it easier shows off Dash's many tattoos.
"I don't know about this. We don't even know this Roman guy." Dash said, unusually timid.
"Just smile and clap. Besides, we're here for Niko, we owe him a favor." Kate said, wearing a dark green dress herself.
"Fine.'' Dash groaned.
From here we finally meet Roman Bellic, Niko's cousin who up was a character only ever mention, as he was wasn't relevent to Dash's story.
Orginally He and Niko even lived together as roommates, as Niko was broke and homeless upon arriving here.
Anyway, Roman marries his fiance, a Itilian named Mallorie, who's also his former securitary. Roman owns his a cab business. It can be assumed he's actually a lot richer than he lets on, he just prefers a modest lifestyle.
The crowd cheer and congratulate Roman and Mallorie as they exit the church. Dash was more shy and stayed in the back, clapping with the crowd. But as they do mysterious a black car silently creeps it's way to the crowd, once in close range the back window opens ot revela Jimmy Pegorino, he tracked Niko down as is outraged that he killed Dimitri. "YOU FUCKING DOUBLE CROSSING IMMIGRANT SHIT!" he screamed and blindfired a AK47 into the crowd. Kate instinctly runs to Dash and pushes her out of the way, only to take the bullet that was coming herself, dying of a headshot. Something which Dash only realizes after turning back and seeing Kate fall over. Even than Dash didn't react right away, it took her a second to realize what happened. Once she did she loudly yelled out "KATE!" Dash and ran over, hugging her tearfullu. Niko tries to comfort her but doesn't seem to know how to really do it, instead just standing there awkwardly.
"SOMEONE CALL A FUCKING AMBULANCE!" Roman cried, near tears himself. This was not how he wanted to remember his big day, but sadly it will have to be that way.
"SHE'S DEAD!" Dash cried tearfully, hugging Kate's body. Getting blood on her dress, but doesn't care.
"What? Oh shit. SHIT, shit!" Roman cried.
"She told me to leave it. I thought I had. I thought it was over!" Niko cried tearfully. Dash is seen hugging Kate.
"It's never over bra." Roman's friend Little Jacob said.
"Niko, you can't blame yourself!" Roman cried, trying to comfort him, but unfortunately it only made Niko enraged, directing his target at the wrong person.
"OF COURSE I CAN! (aggressively pushes Roman) SHE'S DEAD!" Niko screamed.
"Easy, easy, easy. Calm down, man, calm down." Jacob cried.
"Niko, we have to get out of here! Cops are coming!" Dash cried, Mallorie helping her up, Dash simply pats her in a thanks.
"Go on, we take care of this, man. Leave!" Jacob cried.
"Okay! Okay!" Niko cried, still close to tears. Dash follows after.
Sadly this a sad case of reality setting in. The criminal underworld is no fairytale place, and Niko made a lot of noise, his actions couldn't of gone unpunished forever.
SEVERAL DAYS LATER:
It was a cold, dark, rainy afternoon. Perfect for the mood everyone was in.
Everyone was gathered around a gravestone. On it read...

But nothing else was written against the grave, no comment like you would see on many gravestones. It just said her name and the dates. Nothing too interesting.
"I never thought this would happen... I never fucking thought it... Kate.. sweet, innocent Katie... She didn't deserve it.. She never hurt anyone!... She didn't do anything to anybody. It was us McReary men who were the sinners. We're paying for that ourselves, she didn't have to pay too". Packie said, in a heart broken voice.
"I'm sorry Packie.. I loved her too.. She was like a sister" Dash said, wearing a backwards baseball hat and a black GAP sweater as she stood over him.
"It's Niko's fault.. He didn't protect h-
"Hey.. Don't blame Niko. I was there. It was nobody's fault. it was, 'wrong place wrong time', nothing else" The Dash replied, her long hair hidden behind the hat.
"I know Dash.. But I'm losing my family. You, Ma, and Gerald are all that's left And he won't be out for at least another month." Packie said, hiding a tear.
"I know, but we still have each other." Dash insisted, patting him. Suddenly her cell phone rings, she sees it's Niko. He's getting ready to get Jimmy, and asks if she wants to tag along. Dash agrees but Packie does not, saying he needs to be alone for a bit.
This story is actually really interesting to do, as it's honestly the darker bleakest of my GTA stories, much more in the tone of Goodfellas.. In fact, that was exactly the movie I was using for inspiration.. In fact, Jimmy himself, feels like he's almost taken straight out of the film..
