Hello everyone I'm back once again to bring you another chapter of my story; I hope you are all enjoying it and keep supporting my work. Just FYI since I'm like 6-8 chapters away from finishing Set in Stone I'm going to start up another Naruto fic; the one I start up will be one on the back burner and will probably be like 10 chapter long but if you like Naruto fics that are Sci-fi/horror you'll like it for sure. Now then with nothing else to say let's begin.
Mist and Maelstroms: Chapter 8
With Mei and Naruto
"Naruto" Mei said seriously "there is something I need to talk to you about" she said.
Naruto nervously looked at her and began to speak "w-w-what do you need to talk to me about" Naruto stuttered out; Mei walked over to the bed and sat down next to Naruto.
"Naruto" Mei said softly "when I first began training you, I saw you as a student; someone I can mold in order to bring out your full potential" Mei said and Naruto nodded. "When… that incident happened, I saw you as someone precious to me; you comforted me when I was at my weakest and did not look at me differently afterwards" Mei said continuing "Then… the next day I had a realized… that I began to see you differently" she said facing towards Naruto.
"What do you mean Mei" Naruto said feeling hope beginning to rise inside of him; Mei then took in a deep breath.
"I began to develop… romantic feeling towards you Naruto" Mei said dropping the bombshell "I saw you for who you were on the inside; honest, brave, strong, full of potential… and the eyes, hair and teeth don't hurt either" Mei said with a chuckle. "I was worried that if I let my feeling be known that you will not accept them" Mei said "I'm older than you and I know it may seem like a problem; and I'm also the Mizukage now so it will also be a political firestorm" Mei said. "But when I saw you wounded and clinging to life… my heart began to break; I honestly thought I was going to lose you for a minute" She said tearing up "I couldn't imagine what I'd do if I lost you… because… I love you Naruto" Mei said looking at Naruto with tears rolling down her face.
Naruto was stunned 'she loves me; like actually loves me' Naruto thought; Naruto then swallowed hard and spoke "Mei" Naruto began and Mei braced herself. "When you were training me and I called you 'Queen Mei' it was only a half joke" Naruto said "I admired you, Mei; you are strong, beautiful and independent… but also kind, understanding and sensitive. I had no idea how a no name orphan like me got a sensei like you" Naruto said making Mei chuckle. "When you were feeling down, I felt like I had to try my hardest to cheer you up; and when you left a few days ago my heart began to hurt" Naruto said "when you left it felt like a part of me left with you" Naruto said making Mei's eyes go wide. "So, I guess what I'm saying is… I love you too Mei" Naruto said with a smile and a blush.
The next thing Naruto knew Mei grabbed him and pulled him into a hug "You mean that… you really mean that" Mei cheered out as she began to cry tears of joy. She then heard a muffled response and looked down; she then realized she pulled Naruto into her breast and was smothering him "crap Naruto, I'm sorry" Mei said releasing Naruto as he huffing for air.
"Ok *huff* I wasn't *huff* expecting that" Naruto said as Mei blushed from embarrassment "but it did feel kinda nice" he said with a chuckle; Mei then playfully punched him in the arm. Naruto looked at Mei with a smile "the age thing isn't a problem for me; so, if you want… after the exam is over… we can go on a date" Naruto said and Mei nodded.
"Yes, that sounds perfect" Mei said with a smile "oh my gosh I can't believe it; I became Mizukage, I made my confession, I- "Mei began until her eyes widened. "Oh shit" Mei shouted standing up making Naruto stand on edge.
"What, what is it" Naruto said worried and Mei looked at him.
"My ceremony is supposed to be happening now" Mei said making Naruto's eyes widen "ohhhh… I hope Ao could find a way to make it work" Mei said as she began to pace around the room.
In Kiri
"We now present to you; your new Mizukage. Mei Terumi" Ao announced as 'Mei' walked out wearing her kage robes and waving to the crowd.
'Lady Mei I'm so sorry' Chojuro thought as he was henged as Mei 'I swear I will do my best as your body guard to impersonate you until your return' he thought.
Ao was looking at 'Mei' while sweating heavily 'damn it all to hell' Ao thought 'we just arrive to the village and then a shark summons her away; someone better be dead or dying after all this is done' he thought. 'Well, I have her policies she wants put in place so me and Chojuro should be able to wing it until she returns' Ao thought as the ceremony continued.
Chunin exam stage 2 arena: 4 days later
Naruto, a sluggish Sasuke and Sakura were standing in formation with the other teams that passed; Team Asuma, Team Guy, Gaara's team, a grass team, a sound team and another team from Konoha, so 21 in total. The hokage just got done explaining the reason for the chunin exams and that there are now to many remaining; so now there was going to be a preliminary match to cut down the participants.
"Ok so anyone want to drop out before we begin" Hayate Gekko the referee said; one Konoha ninja raised his hand "name and reason" Hayate said.
"Kabuto Yakushi" Kabuto said "I don't think I'm ready so I want to drop out" he said.
Sasuke began to chuckle "what a loser" Sasuke said loudly "if you- "Sasuke began until Naruto elbowed him in the gut knocking the wind out of him.
"Just shut up; bastard" Naruto said before looking at Kabuto "no shame dude; better luck next time" Naruto said and Kabuto smiled.
"Thank you I appreciate it" Kabuto said as he began to walk out 'there won't be a next time brat; I'll make sure of that' Kabuto thought darkly as he exited the arena.
"Ok then let's get this show started shall we" Hayate said as the electronic board above the arena began to go through names before landing on 2 "Sakura Haruno vs Karin Uzumaki; those 2 stay down here. The rest of you go to the balcony" Hayate said as the ninjas began to walk up to the balconies with their sensei's.
Naruto was walking and Kakashi saw him approaching "Naruto; I'm so glad that- "Kakashi began until Naruto walked right past him and straight to Mei.
"Mei" Naruto said looking at her serious "her last name is Uzumaki; what is the likely hood of us being related" Naruto asked and Mei looked thoughtful.
"It's not a very common name" Mei said "I recommend talking to her when her match is over" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
Down on the arena
Sakura was looking at the pasty, red haired, glasses wearing girl who was her opponent 'this should be a piece of cake' Sakura thought as she cracked her knuckles.
Karin was looking at Sakura in total concentration 'she most likely uses Genjutsu based on her muscle mass and her low chakra level' Karin thought 'I should not fool around or underestimate her' Karin thought as she adjusted her glasses.
"Ok now then" Hayate said as he raised his arm "first match; Sakura Haruno vs Karin Uzumaki… begin" Hayate said as he jumped back and the match started.
Sakura took out several shuriken and threw them at Karin; just as they were about to hit Karin a chain of chakra appeared out of Karin's back and swatted them out of the air. Karin then sent the chain towards Sakura; Sakura dodged the chain and ran at Karin while doing hand signs to perform a genjutsu.
'This should do it' Sakura thought as she approached Karin 'Lets see you try and- 'Sakura thought until a second chain came out if Karin and nailed Sakura in her chest.
"Genjutsu doesn't work on me pinkie" Karin said as she then wrapped the chain around Sakura's neck and began to strangle her. Sakura fought the chain for a minute until she passed out; Karin then let go and Hayate jumped into the arena to check on Sakura.
"Winner Karin Uzumaki" Hayate said; Karin began to walk out of the arena but then heard clapping and cheering.
"Yeah, way to go; you kicked her ass" Naruto shouted to Karin; Karin blushed at the praise and began to walk over to the blonde boy.
"Naruto" Kakashi scolded "Sakura is your teammate; how can you cheer on a foreign ninja that just beat her" Kakashi asked and Naruto scoffed.
"Screw her" Naruto said "if she loses that easy, I rather not be affiliated with her" Naruto said brushing Kakashi off.
"You little- "Kakashi began as he approached Naruto but was stopped by Mei.
"If you have a problem with my student; you talk to me first" Mei said with a smirk.
"Do you know who you're talking to" Kakashi said and Mei smirked harder.
"No" Mei said with a smile "but you are talking to Mei Terumi; the new Mizukage and Naruto's sensei" she said making Kakashi pale. Mei then dropped her smile and leaned in close "if you don't want to end up as a bubbling puddle on the ground you better back off" she said; Kakashi looked at her and walked back to Sasuke and stood next to him.
Naruto seeing the exchange chuckled "That was pretty cool" Naruto said to Mei who smiled in response; just then he saw Karin approaching him "Hey Karin Uzumaki right" Naruto said and Karin nodded.
"Correct" Karin said adjusting her glasses "and may I ask who you are" Karin saidcurious.
Naruto then went in and whispered "My name is Naruto Uzumaki" Naruto said making Karin's eyes widen "I think we may be related; I'm not sure but keep it to yourself ok" he said.
Karin looked at him and whispered "I can sense your chakra so I can tell your not lying" Karin said "since I won, I'll be staying in Konoha; so, we can figure everything out later" Karin said. "Let's see the rest of the matches first ok" Karin said and Naruto nodded.
Down in the arena
"Ok then for the second match" Hayate announced as the board lit up "Gaara of the desert vs Zaku of Oto" Hayate announced; Gaara and a boy from Oto with spikey hair and a yellow shirt walked down into the arena.
"Get ready to lose red" Zaku said to Gaara which did not phase the boy "hmph to scared to talk fine with me" Zaku said.
"Alright second match Gaara vs Zaku" Hayate announced "begin" Hayate shouted as he jumped back; Zaku went on the offensive and pointed his hands at Gaara revealing tubes in his hands.
"Decapitating air wave" Zaku shouted as he fired a blast of compressed air at Gaara; when the air was about to hit a wall of sand blocked the attack revealing Gaara standing un harmed.
"Is that all" Gaara said bored; Zaku scoffed and readied for another blast.
"Take this" Zaku said sending another blast of air towards Gaara; once again the sand protected Gaara.
"A one trick pony" Gaara said in his monotone voice "you bore me" Gaara said as he sent a wave of sand after Zaku. Zaku saw the approaching sand and ran towards Gaara jumping over the wave of sand; Zaku's leg was then enveloped and Zaku was pulled down into the sand which began to entrap him.
Gaara then lifted Zaku into the air with one hand extended and open "Sand coffin" Gaara said before closing his fist; the next second the sand that held Zaku crushed the boy killing him instantly "Sand burial" Gaara said. Gaara then released the sand letting the crushed body of Zaku fall to the ground; Gaara then looked up towards the balcony and saw Naruto standing there horrified at what he just saw.
Gaara smiled at Naruto and began to walk back up to the balcony; Hayate then jumped down and looked at what was left of Zaku.
'Goddamn' Hayate thought "winner by death Gaara" Hayate announced. "Medics" Hayate shouted as a medical crew came along and took Zaku's body away.
In the balcony
"Holy shit" Naruto said eyes wide open "he just killed him like he was nothing" he said.
Mei was looking at the red head boy 'he's just like Yagura; blood thirsty and ruthless' Mei thought; she then turned and looked at a shaking Karin. "Karin what's wrong" Mei asked and Karin spoke.
"His chakra is vile and evil" Karin said "I- I hope I'm not the one who has to fight him next" Karin said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, I hope so too" Naruto said as he, Mei and Karin all looked down waiting for the next match.
In the arena
"Ok next match will be" Hayate announced as the board went through names "Sasuke Uchiha vs Yoroi Akado" Hayate announced.
(Outcome is same as in cannon)
A few minutes after Sasuke left the arena for medical attention "Next match will be" Hayate announced "Ino Yamanaka vs Kin Tsuchi; come down" he said.
Ino and Kin both went down into the arena and stood across from each other.
"I hope you put up more of a fight than that pink haired girl" Kin said with a smirk "although by looking at you I can tell you are just some weak excuses for a kunoichi" Kin said and Ino scowled.
"Shut it bitch" Ino shouted "I'll kick your ass back to whatever hole you crawled out of" Ino said and Kin chuckled.
"Ok next match Ino Yamanaka vs Kin Tsuchi" Hayate announced "Begin" he shouted as he jumped away.
Kin started off the fight by throwing a hail of senbon at Ino; Ino dodged and threw several shuriken at Kin. Kin ducked under the shuriken and rushed at Ino; Kin then punched Ino in the face making her see stars.
Ino regaining her senses got into her taijutsu stance and began to fight Kin; Ino wasn't a combat type so when she fought Kin it was mostly Ino attacking and Kin countering. Kin swiped one of Ino's punches and retaliated with a kick sending Ino into the wall; Ino looked up through shaky vision at Kin approaching her.
'I'm getting my ass kicked' Ino thought 'I have no choice' Ino thought as she made an unusual hand sign; Kin stopped at the making of the hand sign and got on guard. After a few seconds nothing happened.
"What's wrong blondie" Kin taunted "you- "Kin began until she flinched; Ino then went limp making everyone confused.
With Naruto, Mei and Karin
"Huh did Ino pass out" Naruto asked and Mei shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know" Mei said "but why is that sound girl just standing there" Mei said and Karin answered.
"Ino isn't passed out" Karin said adjusting her glasses "she just did a giant hail Mary; and it looks like it paid off" Karin said making Naruto and Mei more confused.
In the Arena
'Kin' then stood up straight and spoke "I Kin Tsuchi; forfeit my match to Ino Yamanaka" 'Kin' said. Hayate who realized what had happened spoke up.
"Winner is Ino Yamanaka" Hayate said pointing to an unconscious Ino; Hayate then turned to Kin "you can transfer back to your body now" Hayate said and 'Kin' nodded. Ino undid the jutsu and went back to her own body and Kin fell to the floor unconscious.
Ino opened her eyes and smiled 'I won' Ino thought before losing her smile 'but I almost lost; that girl was kicking my ass" Ino thought as she got up and began walking up the stairs to the balcony. 'I need to get stronger; I need to get more serious' Ino thought as she was congratulated by her teammates on her Pyric victory.
With Naruto, Mei and Karin
"She can transfer her mind to other people" Naruto said and Karin nodded.
"Yes, she can" Karin said "you 2 are from the same village how do you not know that" Karin said and Naruto rubbed the back of his head.
"Well, I really never paid attention to any of that stuff" Naruto said sheepishly; just then he felt a hand touch his shoulder and he looked and saw a smiling Mei.
"Looks like it's your time to shine" Mei said pointing at the board; Naruto looked and saw the next set of names, Dosu vs Naruto Uzumaki. "Show them what you got Naruto" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
"Alright Mei" Naruto said with a smile; Naruto then took the sword off his back and leaned it up against the wall. "Wait here buddy" Naruto said to Kurama "I'm sorry I ain't going to use you; I don't want to kill the guy" Naruto said as he began to walk down the stairs to his match.
"Hmph little shit" Kurama said "The first fight he gets into since I transferred into the sword and he doesn't want to use me; ain't this a bitch" he said. Kurama then looked around and saw Karin looking at the sword with wide eyes.
"You can talk" Karin shouted at the sword making everyone nearby look at her like she's crazy.
"You can hear me" Kurama shouted back equally surprised 'how can she hear me; only the brat should be able to hear me' Kurama thought as Karin hid behind Mei for protection.
Down in the arena
Naruto was standing across from Dosu a mummy looking gut from Oto with a weird gauntlet looking thing on his arm.
"You ready to lose mummy boy" Naruto said making Dosu scoff.
"In your dreams kid" Dosu said getting into his fighting stance "I'm the last of the sound team; I will win for my village" Dosu said.
"Ok you both ready" Hayate said and both boys nodded "Ok; Naruto vs Dosu… begin" he shouted as he jumped away signaling for the match to begin.
