Mist and Maelstroms: Chapter 9
Naruto and Dosu both stood still as they sized each other up; Naruto decided to start the battle by striking first. Naruto went through hand signs and launched several water bullets at Dosu; Dosu dodged and ran towards Naruto.
Dosu threw a punch at Naruto and Naruto jumped back at the last minute to avoid the hit; when Naruto landed a few feet away he looked at Dosu. Just then Naruto's vision began to blur and he began to throw up and shake.
With Mei and Karin
"What the hell" Karin said "Naruto didn't even get hit what happened" she said and Mei spoke.
"I think I know" Mei said "it probably has something to do with that gauntlet of his" Mei said.
With Naruto
Naruto's vision became normal and he looked at Dosu 'what the hell was that' Naruto thought; he then took off his belt of canteens 'I can't get hit by whatever that was again' Naruto thought. Naruto then emptied the water on the ground and made a hand sign.
"Hidden mist Jutsu" Naruto said softly as a thick cloud of mist covered the arena floor; Dosu closed his eyes and began to listen closely. Dosu was then blindsided by a punch to the face; he looked to the direction he just got hit from and saw nothing. He was then hit again from behind.
"It's called the silent killing technique for a reason you know" Naruto said his voice dis-embodied "I think I found out your little trick" he said and Dosu became mad.
"You don't know anything" Dosu shouted as he pulled up his gauntlet; just then Dosu let out a wave of sound. The next moment the mist dissipated and Naruto was standing a few feet away with his ears bleeding.
'Crap; I thought for sure that would work' Naruto thought 'I guess I'll just have to fight him at a distance' Naruto thought. Naruto then jumped back a few feet and went through hand signs 'Water Style: Water blade' Naruto then sent a blade if water at Dosu; Dosu raised up his arm to use his gauntlet as a shield.
Dosu then felt the full force of the jutsu hit his arm as the gauntlet took a bad gash nearly cutting through; Dosu then saw Naruto approach going through hand signs.
'Water Style: Water prison' Dosu then realized the water on the ground began to encircle him; Dosu was then trapped inside a dome of water with Naruto holding him hostage.
'Ok now for phase 2' Naruto thought as he made a one-handed hand sign 'shadow clone jutsu' Naruto then created 4 shadow clones and they all put their hands on the prison. Dosu looked on in horror as the clones began to form water bullets on their hands; the Naruto clones then began to barrage the helpless Dosu.
After a few minutes Naruto released the jutsu and fell to the ground; Naruto then went and picked up Dosu by the collar. Naruto brought back his fist and punched Dosu in the jaw with all his might knocking the boy out.
Hayate went down and looked at Dosu "Winner Naruto Uzumaki" Hayate announced; Naruto didn't have any response "hey did you hear me; you won" he said.
Hayate then went in front of Naruto and began to talk but all Naruto could hear is buzzing.
"WHAT" Naruto shouted; Mei then went down and grabbed Naruto and led him away from the arena "MEI WHERE ARE WE GOING" Naruto shouted.
A few minutes later
Naruto returned with Mei after going to the medical bay in order to get his ears healed.
"God my ears hurt" Naruto said fixing the cotton in his ears "I wish the fight was a little longer; I really wanted to show my stuff" Naruto said and Mei sighed.
"Well, when you fight a one trick pony like that Dosu boy it's really easy to beat them once you know their tricks" Mei said as she and Naruto walked back up the stairs to the balcony "after all you can't just use only one or 2 techniques; that's just a very bad fighting strategy" Mei said.
*In the Canon Naruto universe
Naruto sneezed "what was that" Naruto said as he looked around; he then shrugged his shoulders "so what should I do for training today… rasengan and shadow clones; or try to learn another technique" he said as he walked into the training ground.
"Hmmm… Rasengan and shadow clones are the only techniques I need" Naruto said as he made his trademark hand sign.
*Back to the story
Mei and Naruto then returned to their spots on the balcony and saw Karin sitting next to Naruto's sword.
"So, you have 8 other siblings" Karin said to the sword and Kurama nodded.
"Yes; there are 9 tailed beasts all together" Kurama said "We were all separated when the first Hokage sold us off; bastard human" Kurama said and Karin nodded.
"I know how that feels" Karin said as she rubbed her bitemark scars under her shirt.
"Hey Karin I'm back" Naruto said walking up "you been talking to the fox" Naruto said and Karin nodded.
"Yes, he was telling me of his past before he got captured by the first Hokage" Karin said "How're your ears" she asked and Naruto smiled.
"Nothing permanent thank kami" Naruto said as he went to pick up his sword "so did I miss anything" Naruto asked and Karin shook her head.
"No, the next fight hasn't been announced yet" Karin said as both her and Naruto looked down at the arena.
Over the next 2 hours several more matches were held
Choji Akimichi vs Neji Hyuga; winner Neji.
Rock Lee vs Random Grass Jobber 1; Lee wins.
Temari vs Tenten; Temari wins.
Kankuro vs Random Grass jobber 2; winner Kankuro
Shikamaru Nara vs Misumi Tsurugi; winner Shikamaru. (I'll be honest no one gives a fuck about the other fights; so, I'm just going to skip them).
Down in the arena
Naruto, Lee, Shikamaru, Karin, Ino, Neji, Gaara, Temari and Kankuro stood at the in a line waiting to hear who they are going to fight in the finals; Sasuke was not present as he was still weak due to his fight.
"Ok everyone" Hayate said "you all drew lots so here is who you are going to fight" Hayate said; As Naruto read his opponent, he grew the biggest smile he ever had.
Karin Uzumaki vs Ino Yamanaka
Naruto Uzumaki vs Sasuke Uchiha
Gaara vs Neji Hyuga
Temari vs Lee
Kankuro vs Shikamaru
"You all have one month to train" Hayate said "good luck and see you at the finals" Hayate said dismissing the remaining participants.
Naruto began to walk out with Mei "oh man this is too good" Naruto said with a smile "I looks like me and Sasuke's fated show down is going to happen sooner than I thought; and in front of the village no less" Naruto said with a wicked smile.
"Well, you have one month to prepare Naruto" Mei said with a smile "but remember we have to do something first" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, how could I forget" Naruto said bonking his head "don't worry Mei we'll go out tonight… sound good" Naruto said and Mei nodded.
"That would be best" Mei said "I need to head back to Kiri soon; so, I would like to go out before I leave" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
"Don't worry I know exactly what to do" he said.
1 hour In Naruto's apartment: With Naruto, Ino, Karin and Anko
"I have no idea what the fuck to do; so I need all of your help" Naruto said as Ino, Anko an Karin listened "I've never been out on a date; so, I need your help to make sure I don't screw it up" he said Ino nodded and stood up.
"Ok I can help" Ino said "but I'm only doing this because I believe in true love" Ino said. "I can help you in the clothing department; make you look a little more presentable" Ino said and Naruto nodded.
"I can give you pointers on etiquette" Karin said "I can tell by your mannerisms you are not very versed in manners" she said and Naruto looked down in shame.
"Hey it's not like I had anyone to teach me" Naruto said "what can you help me with Anko" Naruto said and Anko smirked.
"Well as a woman who's been on her fair share of dates, I can give you pointers on what to do to 'whoo' Mei" Anko said Naruto nodded.
"Ok great" Naruto cheered "when do we start" he said; Anko then smiled evilly.
"Right now," she said before pulling out a straight razor "first thing you gotta do is shave" she said and Naruto gulped.
"But I don't have any facial hair" he said showing his face.
"I didn't say shave your face" Anko said chuckling evilly and making Naruto pale.
Mei's hotel later on that night
May was walking out of the hotel she was staying at ready for her date with Naruto; she was wearing a blue dress with matching sandals and lipstick. 'I hope I didn't get to dolled up' Mei wondered nervously; despite her being older she hasn't been on many dates considering her life circumstances.
"Mei is that you" came Naruto's voice; Mei turned around and saw Naruto. He was wearing a simple orange dress shirt, black pants and nicer shinobi sandals; it looked nice but not too nice. "Wow Mei you look great" Naruto said rubbing the back of his head.
"You look good to Naruto" Mei said "shall we go now" she said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, lets hit it" Naruto said walking up and holding out his arm 'Karin said link arms with Mei; it's supposed to be 'gentlemanly'' he thought.
Mei saw what Naruto did and linked arms with him 'how gentlemanly' she thought as both her and Naruto began to walk off on their date; however, from the shadows there were 3 sets of eyes watching.
"Ok so far so good" Anko said before looking back at Ino and Karin "lets go stay quite and keep a good distance back" she said and both girls nodded.
At the restaurant
Naruto decided to change up from his original plan to going to the BBQ restaurant that Ino and her team frequents.
"Welcome to- Naruto" the host said and Naruto's eyes grew wide.
"Hey Kato;I haven't seen you since you used to work at Ichiraku, how goes" Naruto said and Kato smiled.
"Not too bad; you look a lot different, nice teeth" Kato said and Naruto smiled "who's your lady friend" he asked.
"She's my date" Naruto said looking at Mei.
"Mei Terumi nice to meet you" Mei said with a smile; Kato then looked at Naruto.
"How did you land a babe like her" Kato asked and Naruto shrugged.
"I'm still trying to figure out that myself" Naruto said making Mei chuckle "oh yeah… table for 2 please" Naruto said and Kato nodded.
"Gotcha; follow me" Kato said as he escorted Naruto and Mei to their table; Naruto sat down across from Mei and both ordered their drinks and waited to be served.
"So… our first date… lets get to know each other" Naruto said and Mei smiled.
"Ok… umm, what's your favorite color other than Orange" Mei asked and Naruto looked thoughtful for a moment.
"I'd say red… not sure why" Naruto said making Mei chuckle "how about you" Naruto asked.
Mei looked thoughtful "I'd say purple is my second choice; the color of royalty" she said and Naruto nodded.
Anko, Ino and Karin were all on the roof top across the street looking at the on-going date and were genuinely impressed.
"Ok so far so good" Karin said and the other 2 nodded "Naruto's bug is working perfectly; we can hear the conversation perfectly" she said.
"I can't believe the anbu let you keep all this stuff" Ino said and Anko chuckled.
"You kidding me; anbu funding is basically unlimited. You should see the rec room they have" Anko said as she and the other 3 refocused on Naruto and Mei.
Naruto and Mei continued taking until their food came; when it came both ate and chatted, I'm between bites. Naruto talked about all his fun times with Hiruzen, Iruka, Konohamaru "-so Konohamru used the sexy jutsu and Ibisu got mad; then I created 100 shadow clone and used my harem jutsu. It was pretty funny seeing him pass out" Naruto said making Mei laugh.
Mei then told Naruto about the less depressing parts of her life and some of her highlights during the Kiri civil was "Yagura was by far the worst opponent I ever fought; he made that Orochimaru I fought in the forest look like a joke. Although he had the 3 tails inside of him and was the Mizukage so no surprise there; but in the end due to my bloodline, I was able to over power him and win the battle" Mei said with Naruto looking at her like a kid during story time.
By the end of the date Naruto and Mei both walked out with Naruto paying the resteraunt; as they both walked out Naruto and Mei conversed all the way back to Mei's hotel.
"Well, I think that went well" Mei said while holding Naruto's hand "it was fun but civil; nothing to extravagant but nothing to boring" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, I was super nervous when it first started" Naruto said "but I had fun too; we got to know each other better and get a little closer" he said.
When they were in front of Mei's hotel Mei gave Naruto a kiss on the cheek "I had fun Naruto" Mei said "I'm glad we got to do this before I go back to Kiri" Mei said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah I'm glad too" Naruto said with a smile and a blush "goodnight Mei; I'll see you tomorrow" Naruto said as Mei bid him farewell and walked back into the hotel.
Naruto then began to walk away until he was a far enough distance away; Ino, Karin and Mei all jumped down from their hiding spot and looked at Naruto with smiles.
"Look at you stud" Anko said "first date and nothing went wrong" she said and Ino nodded.
"I was half expecting you to do something stupid" Ino said making Naruto grow a tick mark "but I'm glad everything went great" Ino said.
"Now then Naruto" Karin said adjusting her glasses "our deals for helping you" she said and Naruto let out a sigh.
"Ok,ok" Naruto said before looking at Anko "I owe you some dango" Naruto said and Anko fist pumped. "I owe you a boyfriend" Naruto said pointing to Ino who nodded. "And I owe you some books… what's the series called" Naruto said to Karin.
"I want the Icha Icha series" Karin said making everyone go wide eyed.
"Oh god you read the same porn books as Kakashi" Naruto groaned.
"It's not porn ass wipe" Karin shouted "it's romantic literature with erotic content" she said making Naruto sweat drop.
"So, porn got it" Naruto said making Karin angry "now then I'm going home to get ready for tomorrow" Naruto said before walking off.
The Next day Hokage tower.
Hiruzen was looking at both Kakashi and Sasuke; they both were about to leave off to do their training for the chunin exam finals but were called to the Hokage office.
"Kakashi" Hiruzen said barely able to control his anger "When Naruto got hurt, I asked him to give me a debrief and what I heard was… concerning" Hiruzen said making Kakashi nervous.
"W-what did you hear" Kakashi asked nervously.
"When Naruto was fighting Orochimaru" Hiruzen began before pointing at Sasuke "Sasuke here shot a fireball at both Orochimaru and Naruto; if it would've hit it could've hurt or killed both Orochimaru and Naruto. So, tell me why would Sasuke do that" Hiruzen said and Sasuke scoffed.
"No one would've cared if the idiot got killed" Sasuke said making Kakashi look at him wide eyed "he's just a clan less loser; plus, the whole village- "Sasuke did not get to finish as Hiruzen appeared in front of him and back handed him across the face making him spit up blood as he fell to the ground.
"Shut your mouth you little shit" Hiruzen shouted radiating killing intent "you are lucky that because of the rules of the second exam I can't punish you directly as it was a military exercise" he shouted and Kakashi stood up.
"Lord Hokage, I had no idea that happened" Kakashi began "I would never have allowed or told Sasuke to do such a thing" he said and Hiruzen looked at him.
"Even so this is still a failure on your part Hatake" Hiruzen said approaching the man "if you trained your team right this would not be a problem" he said and Kakashi nodded. "Sasuke is going to fight Naruto in the finals; and Naruto is not going to take it easy on him. He will do everything short of killing Sasuke during the exam; so, you better be prepared for the consequences" Hiruzen said.
"I won't lose to that idiot" Sasuke said standing up "no matter what kind of training he did he's still the same loser; I'll- "Sasuke began until Hiruzen leveled a death glare.
"Unless you want to join the rest of your clan 6 feet under you better get out of my goddamn office" Hiruzen said making both Kakashi and Sasuke run out of the office. Hiruzen then sat back down in his chair and let out a sigh 'I can't wait to see that smug Uchiha get that grin knocked off his face by Naruto' Hiruzen thought with a chuckle. Hiruzen then heard a knock at the door "come in" he said; just then the door opened and Tsume Inuzuka walked in.
"Hello Lord Hokage" Tsume said with a smirk "I'm here for our 'meeting'" she said; she then closed the door and locked it making Hiruzen chuckle. Hiruzen then went through hand signs and put up a privacy barrier.
"Well, I'm glad you're here Tsume" Hiruzen said "I'm a little stressed from dealing with Kakashi and Sasuke; maybe you can help me out" he said and Tsume blushed.
"Oh, I can help alright" Tsume said walking over and sitting in his lap "lets get the meeting started" Tsume said before kissing Hiruzen.
'God, I love my life sometimes' Hiruzen thought as he kissed Tsume back.
Outside the village walls: With Naruto, Mei, Kisame, Itachi and Raiga
Naruto gave Mei a hug which she returned "come back soon ok" Naruto said and Mei nodded.
"Of course, I will" Mei said "I will be back shortly before; the final exams and I'll be there to watch you fight" she said and Naruto nodded. Naruto then looked over to Raiga.
"Thanks for escorting her back Raiga" Naruto said and Raiga gave him a thumbs up.
"No problem kid" Raiga said "it's not that long of a trip; should take me a week or so" he said and Kisame looked at him.
"What about Ranmaru" Kisame asked "where's he at" he asked and Raiga chuckled.
"Already taken care of" Raiga said.
Hyuga compound
Iruka was with Ranmaru standing in front of Hiashi.
"Due to Ranmaru's guardian being on a mission he requires somewhere to stay" Iruka said with Ranmaru smiling "and from what Ranmaru tells me Hanabi is his best friend in the academy so we were wondering if you can take him in" he said.
Hiashi looked at the boy and gave it some thought "very well" Hiashi said "Hanabi" Hiashi called.
"Yes fath- "Hanabi did not get to finish as she saw Ranmaru standing there.
"Hey Hanabi how's it going" Ranmaru said making Hanabi blush.
W-w-what are you doing here Ranmaru" Hanabi said nervously.
"Ranmaru will be staying here for a little while" Hiashi said making Hanabi blush harder "please take him to a guest room" Hiashi said and Ranamru ran up and grabbed Hanabi's hand.
"We get to have a sleep over; isn't that great" Ranmaru said and Hanabi nodded.
"Y-y-y-yes, it is" Hanabi stuttered out as she escorted Ranmaru to his room.
Back with Naruto and the others
"Ok enough with the mushy crap" Kisame said "we got to get going; you got a month to train and I'm going to run your ass into the ground" Kisame said with a smile that made Naruto shudder. Naruto then felt a hand on his shoulder and saw a smiling Itachi.
"Don't worry I'll be there too" Itachi said with a smile "I'm going to teach you some taijutsu and how to counter Sasuke's sharingan" he said and Mei looked at him.
"Why would you do that" Mei said making both Naruto and Itachi look at her "I mean I appreciate you helping Naruto but why sabotage your own brother" she asked.
"Because he's a dick that's why" Itachi said bluntly making Mei and Raiga sweat drop.
"Ok let's get going we're burning day light" Kisame said and Naruto nodded.
"Bye Mei, bye Raiga see you guys soon" Naruto said with a wave as he walked off with Kisame and Itachi.
"Bye Naruto see you soon" Mei said as she began to walk off with Raiga.
1 week later: Training camp by the river
Kisame was watching a sparrign match between Naruto and Itachi; Kisame was currently holding Naruto's sword. He wanted to see how Naruto would do without it.
'Water Style: Water shark bomb' Naruto then sent several shark bombs to Itachi who went through hand signs.
'Fire Style: Phoenix flower' Itachi then sent several small fireballs at the sharks turning them into steam; Itachi then ran towards Naruto with a kunai. Naruto took out his own Kunai and began to engage Itachi; Itachi then caught Naruto's wrist and flipped Naruto before disarming him.
"I win" Itachi said with a smile and Naruto huffed.
"Ok, ok you win" Naruto said as Itachi got off him and Naruto got up "man your strong; you make Zabuza and Orochimaru look like chumps" Naruto said and Itachi chuckled.
"Well, I was the Anbu commander at 13" Itachi said "but you are improving Naruto; perhaps in a few years you can become a Anbu" he said and Naruto smiled.
"Really you think so" Naruto said and Itachi nodded.
"Yes, I really think- "Itachi began until he grabbed Naruto and pulled him towards him 'Susanoo' Itachi summoned his imperfect Susanoo just as a bolt of lightning struck it.
"What the hell" Kisame shouted before dodging an attack; when he jumped he saw a 3 bladed scythe where he was just standing 'oh kami' Kisame thought as he landed next to Naruto and Itachi. "Naruto; sword" Kisame shouted handing Naruto his sword.
"What the hell what's going on" Naruto said and Itachi and Kisame narrowed their eyes.
"Old friends coming to visit" Itachi said.
"How surprising" came a deep voice "a traitor, a dead man and a container at the same time; how fortunate for us" said a man in a black cloak with red clouds.
"Hold it Kakuzu" came the voice of another man "I want Itachi; he'd make a great sacrifice for lord Jashin" he said.
"Hidan you and your religion are very annoying" Kakuzu said making Hidan gain a tick mark.
"Hidan, Kakuzu; what do we owe the pleasure" Kisame said and Kakuzu spoke.
"When we found out you gone traitor, we were dispatched to eliminate you" Kakuzu said "but now we see Itachi still breathing and the container of the 9 tails; so, this will make it even more interesting" he said taking off his cloak.
"Naruto" Kisame said gaining his attention "take on Hidan there; he doesn't use jutsu but don't let that fool you. He's immortal and if you get cut, he'll use you for his ritual" he said and Naruto nodded.
"Me and Kisame will take on Kakuzu" Itachi said activating his sharingan "he's by far the bigger threat" Itachi said.
"Ok guys" Naruto said walking towards Hidan "I won't let you down" Naruto said placing his blade in front of his body.
"Haha" Hidan laughed "you think you can take me brat" Hidan said and Naruto scowled.
"I don't know but I'm going to try" Naruto said gripping his sword "bring it on asshole" Naruto shouted.
Ok another chapter done; I'm sorry if this chapter wasn't that good. With all honesty I could not find a way to make the Naruto vs Dosu fight longer since Dosu isn't that strong of a character especially compared to this Naruto.
