Husk and I walked into the office where the wedding planner was sitting behind her desk typing on the computer. I immediately picked up on some negative energy around her. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I there was something about her that was,... I don't know, icky I guess. Despite my instincts, I tried to pass them up as wedding jitters or something. Husk and I approached her desk.

Husk cleared his throat before he spoke, "excuse me, Miss. Are you the wedding planner I spoke on the phone the other day. "Ahh yeah, I'm Debby Doubtwright Happy to make your acquaintance. How can I help you today?" I looked at Husk for a brief moment and he nodded his head in approval and smiled.

I smiled back and turned to face the wedding planner, "yes so my fiancé and I would like to book an appointment with you this Saturday if possible. She looks up from her computer at us with disgusted expression on her face, "oh, so you're getting married to a man?" Husk and I both growl and roll our eyes, "uh,... yes, why? Is there a problem with that?" She gets up and physically gestures for us to leave the store, "actually there is.

We only service straight couples, not abominations like the lot of you." I become instantly triggered, "well fuck you too you ugly, old bitch!" Husk grabs me by the hand and leads me out the door before I have the opportunity to kick her self-righteous ass into next week. "Come on, it's not worth it, babe." Reluctantly, I followed him out the door but not before I slammed it so hard that the glass broke off.

We quickened our pace until the shop was far from our sight. Before I knew it, I felt tears hot tears pouring from my eyes. Husk takes us into a nearby park and leads me to a nearby bench. We both sat down on it and he looked over at me and flattened his ears and dropped his wings, "I'm so sorry, Caro. I—I should have done better research before we went in."

I shake my head and wiped my tears with the back of my hands, "no you shouldn't be the one to apologize, Husk. Straight couples never have to apologize for who they love, why should we be any different? I mean, if it were purely sexual that would at least be a little more understandable because that's lust, but what we have is special, pure and real. It just hurts when something as special as our love gets rejected just because it doesn't exist in their realm of reality." Husk lets out a sigh and wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me into his warm embrace.

We sat there wrapped in each other's arms for what seemed like forever until Husk phone vibrates in his pocket. He pulls out his phone and the caller ID said, 'Jessie Hart'. He looked at me with a mixture of worry and confusion, "she's never contacted me on my phone before." I gestured with my hand for him to answer it. He does, "hey what's going on—.

Whoa, whoa wait a second, Jessie slow down I can't understand what you're saying." His eyes widened and his entire demeanor changed, "okay, we're on our way now." He hangs up the phone and places it in his pocket before jumping up to his feet, "Angel, we gotta go. Demetrius is in the hospital." I stand up to my feet and he sweeps me up off of my feet and carries me in his arms and spreads his wings before taking flight.

"Oh my gosh, Husk what happened to him?" "I don't know, Jessie said she found him lying in a ditch on the side of the road and said he had multiple stab wounds. He was unconscious when she got there put from the looks of it she said he lost a lot of blood. She sounded REALLY freaked out by the whole thing." I shake my head in disbelief as we landed at the hospital emergency room entrance.

He sets me down on my feet and we run into the emergency room and run up to the hospital desk. "Hey, I'm here to see Daniel Huskerton Jr. I was told he was brought here a few minutes ago," Husk said with his hands trembling like leaves. The lady types in the name before looking up at Husk, "and what's his date of birth?" Husk put his hands in his pockets as if he's trying to hide his fear, "uh, November 5, 1953." She looks down at her computer, "yes it looks like he was just checked in fifteen minutes ago.

He's down in surgery right now. I'll escort you both to the waiting room and the doctor will see you as soon as he's moved into recovery. For the records, may I ask what your relation to him is?" Husk looks her directly in the eyes, "I'm his father." She types this in before looking over to me, "and what's your relation to him?"

I nervously look down and fiddle with my hoodie strings, "I'm his father's fiancé." She nods her head to me and types it into the computer. She then stands up and walks around the front desk and gestures her hands to the double doors, "okay, follow me please." We complied and followed her through the double doors. We turned the corner and immediately saw Jessie sitting in the waiting room.

Her sweater was completely saturated in blood and she looked completely shell shocked. We went over there after the lady from the front left and went back to her normal duties. I kneeled down in front of the poor girl and wrapped my arms around her, "shhh it's okay. We're here now and everything is going to be okay, honey." Husk wrapped his arms around her and my arms and then she lost her composure completely.

She began sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. Husk got up and grabbed the box of tissues from one of the waiting room tables and handed them to me. I pulled out a few tissues and tried dabbing it at her eyes in my best efforts to dry her tears.
