Authors Note
Before we start I wanted to address some comments about people wanting Scyther to evolve into Kleavor, and while those are possible ides as we've seen Kleavor in modern day in the Indigo Disk. However the argument of since I gave Molly Great Tusk that one time, that was a very different situation. She also had Mega Ampharos, Blood Moon Ursaluna, and Hisuian Typhlosion, all of which were caused by the Unown warping reality especially around her. For the most part this story just like my other stories only involves Pokemon from the regions original introduction, so generation 2 mechanics, Pokedex entries, and move lists. There will be a couple more exceptions in the near future of the story, but that's as far as I lab on taking it.
Also sorry again for the delay, I've been trying to do less shitty/shorter chapters and that has meant uploads aren't as frequent, anyways onto wellâ not the story!
High above Johto in the Team Rocket Airship, near the border between Johto and Kanto
"Sir, reports have come in, that boy from the whirl islands is on his way to Mahogany Town." Matori said. "Shouldn't we follow him, make sure he doesn't lose the rainbow wing or do something foolish with it?"
"One wing on it's own is nothing, only when near its sister do the wings become something far more dangerous." Giovanni said, readjusting the silver wing in his lapel. "Besides if we are to face this Masked Man and stop his operations in our territory we need something truly devastatingly powerful on our side."
"Of course sir, but are you sure this is the direction you want to go, any recent reports have said there is nothing of danger here on these mountains." Matori said.
"Precisely why I am going there, a place like this has always held danger, but a few months ago anyone venturing into the mountains said there is nothing to worry about, which means my missing project must be nearby." Giovanni said.
"Sir, should I call for backup?" Matori asked.
"No, keep the squads on their own individual goals, I will confirm my theory and then we will move on the subject." Giovanni said, opening a hatch in the airship. "Persian we're leaving."
"Mrrrrw." Persian growled, standing next to their owner as the two leapt from the airship descending to the mountains below.
Giovanni opened his parachute, easily landing on the rugged terrain below, his Persian hopping off a few boulders before landing next to him gracefully. The two silently moving, knowing that if the subject was here, it would be looking for them soon enough.
"Hold it right there!" A man with half a mask said, standing in Giovanni's way, a woman with red hair and the opposite side of the mask joining him.
"We have direct orders from our boss to bring you and any other rebels in." The woman said.
"Please, as if your leader holds any cards." Giovanni said sternly. "You're not fooling anyone Karen and Will."
"I'll show you, Espeon come on out!" The man said.
"Umbreon join him!" The woman demanded.
"Persian." Giovanni said with a cold tone, the cat Pokemon walking in front of him.
"It's time for you to step down and let the Masked Master take over!" Will said. "Espeon use Psychic!"
"Umbreon use Psychic too!"
The two eeveelutions sent out a combined psychic attack firing at Persian who moved out of the way of the attack without even a command.
"Use Slash on Umbreon." Giovanni stated.
Persian snuck forward, slicing their claw at Umbreon, knocking the dark type back a distance.
"Espeon use Psychic!"
"Umbreon use Toxic!"
"Persian, Screech." Giovanni said with a nearly bored tone, Persian's cry disbanding the attacks before they could reach them.
"Finish this with Slash." Giovanni said, pointing at Espeon.
Espeon leapt at Espeon, striking the psychic type down with a singular attack.
"Now if I were the two of you I would go running back to your false leader, and tell him that his mutiny will be coming to an end very soon." Giovanni said, walking off towards the peak without a second thought.
"Our Master will never stop by the likes of you, he has been sowing the seeds for this for years, and is now going to take his rightful place as the ruler of Team Rocket, uniting the two regions under one rule as it should have always!" Will ranted, before being cut off by Persian attacking him, before rejoining their master.
'Sir, come in, is everything alright?" Matori asked.
"Everything is fine, I simply ran into some resistance of former members of my elites." Giovanni said calmly. "Nothing I couldn't handle."
"Of course, sorry sir, I did not mean to assume you couldn't handle that." Matori said, quickly exiting the call.
"Radio silence until I contact again." Giovanni said coldly, turning off his com.
"Never thought you of all people would be dumb enough to come here." Another voice said, as Giovanni made his way closer to the peak.
"Lance's muscle, I must assume you're here because he believes I'm here to cause him trouble." Giovanni said, looking towards where Bruno stood.
"I'm here because I train here to become stronger, your actions are of no concern to Lance, I will handle the likes of you myself." Bruno said with a chuckle.
"Do you really believe that to be the case?" Giovanni asked. "Then send whatever is necessary out to stop me in your eyes."
"Who says they aren't already out?" Bruno questioned, as the rocks around Giovanni and Persian began moving, revealing two large Onix, one on either side of them.
"Persian, use Slash." Giovanni responded calmly, pointing to one of the Onix.
"Onix use Slam!"
The two Onix rushed at Giovanni and his Persian, the two moving out of the way before Persian struck the left Onix, causing them to flinch in pain.
"Onix use Rock Slide!" Bruno called out.
Giovanni watched, his eyes glowing as the boulders rolled out of the way from him and Persian.
"Not many trainers force me to need to use these powers, however for everyone's best interest, I must get to the top of this mountain." Giovanni said. "Persian use Fury Swipes!"
Persian leapt at the duo of Onix, scratching at the two, taking them both down quickly.
"Now subdue him with a Screech, we can't have him alerting it of our presence." Giovanni said, walking as Persian let out an ear piercing screech causing Bruno to fall to the ground in pain.
Some time later
"Lance, we have an issue, Giovanni, he's here in Johto, climbing Mount Silver, he's here for something and I've lost track of him." Bruno said. "I will regroup with the others and keep you posted."
"Very good, I'm following a lead here in Mahogany but will join you shortly, in the meantime, I will send word to our new ally to join you up there, he too is familiar with Giovanni's methods." Lance said, as he flew on his Dragonite towards the Lake of Rage.
