Authors Notes
Sorry about the non post yesterday, I was exhausted and not able to finish this chapter, I normally would have but I was busy rooting for the Lions only for them to drop the ball in the second half of the game
Today we find our heroes on their way to Greenfield, but it seems like they're taking a break, whatever could be going on.
"Come on girls, we might be stopping for a break in Greenfield, but I still need to get ready for my next gym battle!" Ash said excited.
"Alright you heard him!" Casey said. "Chikorita use Razor Leaf! Qwilfish use Bubblebeam!"
"Cyndaquil use Ember! Flaaffy use Thundershock!" Molly called out.
The four elemental attacks rushed across the makeshift battlefield as Ash stood ready and waiting.
"Now Wobbuffet use Mirror Coat!" Ash called out.
"Wahhh!" Wobbuffet exclaimed, absorbing the damage of the attacks before firing them all right back across the field.
"I have to admit, with Wobbuffet, Ash's team is a lot stronger than previously." Molly admitted.
"Not that the two of us were ever much of a match for some of his Pokemon." Casey said. "But, let's see if we can trip him up. Here's what we'll do." Casey began to whisper.
"Any time now." Ash said, stretching a little.
"Alright, Qwilfish use Bubblebeam!" Casey called out.
"Cyndaquil use Ember, Flaaffy use Thundershock!" Molly called out.
"Wobbuffet, be ready." Ash said, as the three attacks drew closer. "Now use Mirror Coat!"
"Chikorita use Tackle!" Casey called out.
Chikorita rushed forward, slamming into Wobbuffet before being launched clear over the trees from all of the redirected energy.
"CHIKORITA!" Casey exclaimed, rushing after her Pokemon.
"Trainings over guys." Ash said, returning Wobbuffet before rushing after Casey, with Molly following shortly behind.
A bit later
"Chikorita, are you out here?" Casey called out.
"Chikorita!" Molly called out.
"Any luck Houndour?" Ash asked, the dark type shaking his head, looking down. "Thanks for your help anyway." Ash said, scratching it's head.
"Guys, I'm getting worried, what if Chikorita is seriously hurt?" Casey asked worriedly.
"We're not giving up, we'll find Chikorita, I promise." Molly said reassuringly.
"Gli!" Gligar said swooping down.
"Did you find Chikorita?" Ash asked.
"Gli!" Gligar exclaimed, before pushing off back into the air for them to follow.
"Let's go!" Casey exclaimed, rushing after the flying type.
Ash and Molly followed Casey and Gligar deeper into the woods, finding a small wooden building, atop they find Chikorita stuck upside down.
"Ash." Casey half asked half demanded.
"Right, Bulbasaur use Vine Whip!" Ash said, sending out his grass type.
Bulbasaur and Gligar worked together to safely rescue Chikorita and bring him back down to the ground.
"Chikorita, I was so worried, are you alright?" Casey asked, checking over her grass type before noticing his leaf with a hole on the edge of it. "What happened to your leaf?"
"Chi?" Chikorita said, trying to look at his leaf.
"There's a Pokemon center nearby, we can have him checked out there." Ash said, checking his Pokegear.
"Let's go!" Casey said, quickly following Ash, holding her Chikorita close.
At the Pokemon Center
"Hmm, yes, I've seen this before." The Nurse Joy working there said, checking over Chikorita's leaf.
"Is it bad?" Casey asked. "Is whoever caused this going to be severely punished?!"
"HEY, YOU WERE THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO CHARGE INTO A COUNTER ATTACK!" Ash argued.
"Relax, Chikorita leaves are usually quite durable right up to a certain point." The Nurse Joy said.
"What do you mean by that?" Molly asked.
"When a Chikorita's leaf begins to weaken and is able to be punctured like this, it actually means it's almost time for them to evolve." The Nurse Joy reassured.
"So you're actually saying that nothing is wrong with Chikorita, in fact its the exact opposite?" Casey said in shock.
"Yes, while it is very rare for this to happen as most trainers Chikorita evolve before this occurs, there is nothing wrong with your Chikorita at all and he is just redirecting energy to the rest of his body." The Nurse Joy assured.
"Thank you Nurse Joy!" Casey said excitedly. "I can't believe it Chikorita, you're about to evolve, that's great!"
"Chi?" Chikorita said in confusion.
"Come on let's keep working so you'll be all big and strong in no time!" Casey said rushing off.
"Ka!" Chikorita cheered, following his trainer.
"That was definitely a 180 for her attitude about this." Molly said watching the two run off.
"No kidding." Ash said, pulling his Pokegear back out.
"What are you doing?" Molly asked.
"Figuring out which way we need to go, this was a bit of a detour and I'm just making sure we're not completely lost." Ash said calmly.
"But what about Casey and Chikorita?" Molly asked.
"You heard Nurse Joy, Chikorita is just about to evolve, they'll be back in no time." Ash assured.
"I guess you're right." Molly admitted, looking at the map with Ash.
A ways out with Casey and Chikorita
"Alright Chikorita, you heard Nurse Joy, so let's give our strongest battle cry to give you an evolution!" Casey cheered.
"Chika!" Chikorita cheered, flipping his leaf back and fourth, unintentionally letting out a Sweet Scent.
'BZZZZ'

"What was that?" Casey asked, stopping their cheer, hearing something come close.
"Bee!"
"Bee!"
"Drill!"
"Beedrill! Run!" Casey exclaimed, picking up Chikorita.
"Chi! Ka!" Chikorita exclaimed, sending out leaves, striking and bouncing off of the Beedrill.
"HELP!" Casey yelled.
Inside the Pokemon Center
"You hear anything Ash?" Molly asked, as they were still trying to locate Greenfield.
"Nope." Ash said truthfully. "Hey wait, is that, no nevermind."
Back outside
Casey ran into a thicker part of the trees, obscuring herself from the path of the Beedrill.
"Chika!" Chikorita exclaimed, jumping out of Casey's arms, slamming into a tree to strike the Beedrill.
"Chikorita, what are you doing?" Casey asked, before realizing. "You've got this Chikorita, harder, faster, stronger!" Casey cheered out.
"Chika!" Chikorita exclaimed, slamming into the tree, cracking it's base as the tree toppled, scaring off two of the Beedrill.
"Bzzz!" The third Beedrill buzzed angrily, rushing towards Casey.
"Chika!" Chikorita exclaimed, slamming into the Beedrill, knocking it away from his trainer in a burst of light.
"Bay!" The now evolved Chikorita said, standing strong.
"Chikorita, or who are you?" Casey asked, pulling out her Pokedex.
'Bayleef the Leaf Pokemon, a Grass Type. The scent that wafts from the leaves on its neck causes anyone who smells it to become energetic.' Casey's Pokedex said as the Beedrill got back up.
"Alright, let's try that last move again, Bayleef use Body Slam!" Casey called out.
Bayleef slammed into Beedrill, knocking it into another tree.
"Bayleef use Vine Whip!" Casey called out.
Bayleef wrapped his vines around the stunned Beedrill, holding it in place.
"Time to start our super Electabuzz Team!" Casey said, grabbing a Pokeball. "Pokeball, go!"
'Ding, ding, ding!'
"Alright, we just caught Beedrill!" Casey cheered.
"Bayay!" Bayleef cheered.
Back at the Pokemon Center
"I'm back!" Casey said, running in with Bayleef hot on her heels.
"Hey, look at that Chikorita evolved." Molly said with a smile.
"Not only that." Casey said. "I just caught a new Pokemon!"
"Another rare Pokemon?" Ash asked.
"Nope, a yellow and black Pokemon in support of the best team!" Casey cheered.
"Really, out here?" Ash questioned.
"Take a look, come on out Beedrill!" Casey exclaimed.
"A, a Beedrill." Ash said, his eyes wide open.
"Casey is that thing, under control?" Molly asked nervously.
"Of course, after Bayleef and I took it out, Beedrill is perfectly compliant." Casey said, rubbing underneath Beedrill's head.
"Well, we have good news, this detour actually got us really close." Molly said.
"Really, how close is really close?" Casey asked.
"From what the map showed, we should be there by lunch time tomorrow." Ash said.
"And my dad's research trip is ending and he should be back tomorrow too." Molly said.
"Great, it's all working out perfectly now." Casey assured.
