Jack
April 1920
New York
"Hiya" Mark said as he walked in to the living room where Jack was sketching. "Hi" Jack gave a small smile and a nod. "You alright?" Mark asked. "Erm- I kind of need to talk to you about something" "what's wrong?" Mark frowned and leant against the sofa. "I'm thinking of moving out… of leaving New York" Jack said "what? Why?" Mark frowned in response, causing Jack to sigh as he realised he was finally going to have to tell Mark about the sinking.
"In 1912, I was on the Titanic, the ship that sank. I met a woman, Rose, on board. She was the love of my life… but she didn't make it. I stuck around in New York after the sinking to avoid going back to where I grew up so I didn't have to face the past… my parents died there, and I figured if I wasn't there, I didn't have to think about them. But I think now is the right time for me to head back. I've grown up a lot in the last 8 years, and I need to do what I think is best for me… I'm sorry" Jack said apologtley "don't apologise mate, I get it. Sometimes you gotta do tough things to move on" Mark nodded. "When you thinking of leaving?" He asked. "About a week… I know I've sprung this on you, so I'll pay you a months rent so you're not left in the lurch" Jack nodded "don't be daft, it's fine. I might ask Elise to move in, she's been wanting to get away from our parents anyway" Mark chuckled. "You'll keep in touch, won't you?" Mark asked, getting a nod in response "of course I will" Jack smiled sadly. "Thanks for understanding" he continued "you don't need to thank me" Mark brushed it off.

A week passed and Mark decided to wave Jack off at the station. "Good luck with everything mate, I really hope everything works out for you" Mark said. "And you, I'll write to you in a few weeks for a catch up" Jack gave a tight smile as he hugged Mark quickly before hearing the trains horn "I best go… thanks for everything pal" Jack said as he boarded the train and waved to Mark one last time as it departed the station.

16th April, 1920
Jack felt his heart pounding in his chest as he disembarked the train. He had planned in his head to go to his parents house and lie low for a while, not sure if he was ready to have long conversations with anyone he might bump in to from years ago.
On the walk up to his parents house, he stopped at the store to pick up a few food essentials before continuing to walk, keeping his head down low.

"Here we go…" Jack sighed to himself as he stood at the end of the front garden. His parents house was quite isolated, so he didn't need to worry about neighbours spotting him. He took a deep breath as he walked towards the door and grabbed the key from under the plant pot- surprisingly, it wasn't covered in rust as Jack had thought it may have been.
He placed the bag of shopping and his backpack in the kitchen and headed upstairs to look around the house. Things were dusty, but aside from that they were in good condition. He was surprised that his emotions didn't take over him when he entered his parents bedroom, but instead chuckled to himself as he saw the photo on their bedside table; it was Jack around the age of 5. He had always hated the picture, seen as he was pulling a ridiculous face, but it still made him laugh each time he saw it…
I feel like this chapter is awful, but didn't know how to write Jack back in to Chippewa Falls! Sorry x
