CHAPTER TWELVE: X791
X791...
Akame placed his boot down onto a bandits face. "Man, you bandits can't fight for shit!" He commented as he laughed.
Dusk slammed another bandit to the brick wall. "This is just embarrassing for you. Weren't you the one who said you and I quote, wouldn't be defeated by such a puny guild like us?" He taunted.
"Y-You won't get away with this." The bandit under Akame's boot mumbled weakly. "The boss will make you pay."
"We took that guy out a long time ago." Aly stated as he arrived with Julian, Bruno, and Chii.
"Anyhow, let's collect our reward and head back to the guild." Akame said as his two guildmates agreed.
As they were walking back to the train station after collecting their reward, they talked amongst themselves. "It seems Ezekiel is in a better mood ever since Fairy Tail's return." Julian commented.
They had received knews from their guild master that the members of Fairy Tail that had gone MIA finally made their return after seven years. "Yeah, he does. Honestly, props to them for surviving an attack caused by none other than Acnologia." Akame agreed.
The three Dragon Slayers and their Exceeds arrived at the guild just in time to see a table crash near the entrance. "I think we came back at a bad time." Julian commented.
"You think?" Aly added on.
"Shut the hell up! There's no way we're participating in that again!"
"What's got Zack all pissed?" Akame questioned, sitting down next to Ezekiel with Dusk, Julian, and their Exceeds following him.
"Nero suggested for Twilight Phoenix to participate in this year's Grand Magic Games, and Zack was against it." Ezekiel explained.
Akame gritted his teeth. "I don't blame him actually. After what happened last year." He muttered.
"Did you just blindly forget the humiliation that Twilight Phoenix faced?! Sabertooth made a fool out of us!" Zack shouted.
"That's why I'm saying we should enter this year and get our revenge!" Nero spat back.
Their arguing stopped when they heard someone clapping their hands as everyone looked up to see Harumi on the balcony. "Nero's right. So that's why I have entered Twilight Phoenix into the Games this year once more." She announced.
Akame stood up in protest. "Master, you can't! We'll just be humiliated again!" He exclaimed.
"We were defeated because we were a new guild facing off against other guilds who had been around for a long time. We have experience now. Besides, I have heard rumors that Fairy Tail will be entering as well." Harumi shot back. "I have already chosen the members who will represent us in the Games."
Everyone stayed silent, letting their Master continue. "Akame, Ezekiel, Zack, Hana, and Julian will be representing us with Riku as the reserve." Harumi continued as everyone groaned at the fact that they weren't chosen.
"Would Dusk, Atlas, Nero, Dawn, and Loji come speak with me privately?" Harumi then said as they looked at each other before following Harumi into her office.
"Come on, Chii. Let's go train." Akame told his partner as she nodded.
"Akame, Jim and I will come with you guys." Zack added as Akame agreed before they headed out of the guild.
Meanwhile, the five people that Harumi called into her officer were facing her. "Why did you call us, Master?" Loji questioned.
Harumi sighed. "As I had said previously, I have heard rumors about Fairy Tail entering the Grand Magic Games in order to take their spot as number one from Sabertooth. Knowing Makarov, he'll enter two teams so-"
"You want us to do the same." Nero finished for her.
Harumi nodded. "You five will be apart of Twilight Phoenix Team B. With Ajar being your reserve." She gestured at the spiky black-haired male who was next to her.
"And I'm guessing you don't want us to tell the original team about this?" Dusk asked.
"Precisely." Harumi replied.
Dusk smirked. "I'm going to have fun with this. Dawn, you want to come train with Bruno and I?" He questioned.
"Of course." Dawn smiled.
"Let's train as well, Nero." Atlas added.
"I agree."
"Focus Akame!" Zack shouted as Akame was thrown back by Zack's Exceed as he landed harshly onto the ground. The Two Dragon Slayers and their Exceeds were training in a forest as Jim used his transformation magic to grow bigger.
"I'm trying, bastard!" Akame shouted back as Zack sighed.
"You're thinking about what happened last year, right?" Zack guessed as Akame clenched his fist. "I don't blame you. It's the whole reason why I was against this idea."
(Flashback, X790 Grand Magic Games)
Akame was on the ground of the area, struggling to get up as he looked over towards Zack who was completely unconscious after his fight with Sting. Akame was the only one standing.
"You might as well stay down, Blood Dragon. Your teammate is defeated. There's no way you can win now." Rogue taunted.
"Get up! You can't lose like this, Akame!" Loji shouted from the stands. Chii looked like she was about to cry any minute, upset to see her partner and best friend in a defeated state.
Sting walked over and grabbed Akame by his hair as he still had Dragon Force activated. "This is the result of a newbie guild trying to face off with the big guys." He claimed as he punched Akame with his fist covered in holy light and Akame crashed into the arena wall.
"Everyone... I'm sorry... I don't know how much more I can take..." Akame thought as he didn't even bother getting back up as the gong rang.
"And the winner of this match is Sabertooth's Twin Dragons!" Chapati announced as the stadium erupted into cheers.
"How pathetic." Akame heard Sting comment. Akame soon heard laughter coming from the audience.
"How totally lame! Did a bunch of wizards from a newbie guild really thought they could take on Sabertooth's Twin Dragons?"
"Such losers!"
"Leave the Games to the guilds who are actually strong you weaklings!"
The rest of Twilight Phoenix had their head down while Akame covered his eyes with his arm, silently sobbing to himself.
(End Flashback)
"Sabertooth completely made us look like fools." Akame stated. "And not only that, Jiemma assaulted Master Harumi soon after, making her bedridden for a few months."
"I felt humiliated. You and I were completely overpowered by Sting and Rogue." Akame finished.
Zack grabbed onto Akame's collar. "That won't happen again, you hear me? All of us in the guild are stronger and we have more experience now! Promise me, Akame... Promise me that we'll take revenge on Sting and Rogue together! We'll make sure those jackasses will pay for humiliating us!" He shouted.
"Yeah, I promise." Akame smiled a bit. "Putting that aside, Fairy Tail is also participating. How do you feel about your uncle returning?"
"Can I even call Natsu my uncle when we're basically the same age? It's weird." Zack commented.
"Your whole family tree is weird."
Zack snorted in agreement. "Either way, Natsu doesn't even know about his origins. Not that I know of anyway. If I just call him "Uncle Natsu" he'll think I'm on something." He stated. "You know, despite Fairy Tail's reputation going downhill, I still wouldn't really underestimate them."
"No kidding. Anyone who survives an attack from Acnologia gets my respect." Akame agreed. "The only thing I'm confused about is how an island can just show up out of nowhere when reports said it was eradicated."
"My guess is that my mother most likely had something to do with it." Zack stated as Akame looked at him with confusion. "Tenrou Island is my mom's resting place. So she most likely protected them with her magic."
"Sounds logical."
Later, Akame had arrived back to his apartment with Chii. Dusk and Bruno were already there. "What are you thinking about?" Dusk asked as he looked up.
"I'm just thinking about the Games. Our humiliation last year. Everything."
"We'll get them back this year, Akame."
"Yeah. We will."
