CHAPTER FOURTEEN: HIDDEN

"Let Hidden begin!"

The audience cheered with excitement. "This ain't hide and seek, but more about figurin' out how to find your real enemy!" Yeager stated.

Dusk walks past the copies, getting ready for any ambush that came his way. "I have to do this. I have to win for Twilight Phoenix. The pain... The suffering..." A flashback of Akame sobbing after his lost against Sting and Rogue burned in his mind. "Those damn Sabertooth bastards are going down. I need to find Rufus and take him out."

Meanwhile, Gray was running as he was talking to himself. He attacks Nalpudding's copy, and ends up at a different location. Nalpudding then attacks Gray once more.

"That guy! He went after me again!" Gray exclaimed.

"This is the first game, Hidden, and the fierce but silent battle continues! At the moment Nalpudding is in first place!" Chapati said. "On the field with yourself and an army of enemies, what should you do to ferret out the flesh and blood ones?"

"There are various ways. For example, you could look for your opponent's magic." Yajima replied.

"I think Eve-kun has a better method than that." Jenny commented.

Gray is back at square one again. Until carrots shoot straight at him. Luckily, he dodges. "Huh? I missed!" Beth exclaimed. She suddenly gets attacked by Yeager.

"I saw you use your magic!" He exclaimed. He then gets attacked by Lyon.

"I saw it too." Lyon informed as he faced Gray, who turned around.

"Lyon..."

"I found you, Gray."

Suddenly, Lyon gets attacked by Juvia. "Hey, I don't need you to give me a hand." Gray told her.

"Juvia knows that." Juvia responded as she explained what Makarov told Team B. Gray and Juvia get ready for battle.

Nalpudding then shows up. "I'm gonna get two Fairies together!" He exclaimed, attacking both of them.

Snow then began to fall. "Oh, my! What on Earthland is this? It's started to snow in town!" Chapati announced.

"Eve-kun, huh?" Jenny said.

"I miscalculated by not realizing there are two wizards here who can stand the cold." Eve mumbled.

"Still, when it's cold, people shiver and their breath turns white." Ichiya stated.

"Copies don't, though." Ren added on.

"I see you! Over there!" Eve attacks everyone with snow.

"That gives Eve three points in a row!" Chapati exclaimed as the fan girls screamed.

Eve was suddenly attacked by an ice arrow. "Nice, Thore!" Hana exclaimed to her celestial spirit as she swiped the silver key, naking him return back to the celestial spirit world.

"She's a celestial wizard?!" Lucy exclaimed, shocked there was another one in the Games.

"Beaten by a beautiful woman..." Eve mumbled as he disappeared.

"Go, Hana!" Julian cheered.

"Dusk hasn't been attacked or used his magic yet." Atlas commented.

"He'll show up when Rufus attacks. Don't fret." Nero reassured him.

"Anyway, Sabertooth's Rufus isn't moving at all, is he?" Chapati pointed out. "He hasn't attacked anyone or been attacked yet."

"I find this competition completely boring." Rufus spoke up.

"W-What's this?" Chapati questioned as Rufus was seen on top of a building. Dusk looked up and saw him on a nearby building.

"Ah, found you." He mumbled to himself.

"I can feel everyone's heartbeat, footsteps, quality of magic..." Rufus continued on.

"What's he doing up there?" Lucy questioned.

"It's like he's beggin' to be found!" Elfman added.

"Gray! Look up!" Natsu yelled.

The sky turned dark as everybody's body started to glow in which they stared in shock. "Memory-Make: Night Of Falling Stars!" Rufus shouted as he extended his arms outwards, releasing light from his body, which was subsequently shaped in a series of large beams, reminiscent of shooting stars as he attacked everyone. As the light came towards him, Dusk absorbed the light, shocking everyone.

"He absorbed it!" Natsu exclaimed.

Dusk hops onto the building where Rufus was. "Attacks like that doesn't work on a wizard who can absorb starlight! Star Dragon's Slash!" Starlight enveloped Dusk's fist, and he attacks Rufus. But Rufus disappears.

"Shit!" Dusk exclaimed as Rufus attacked him from behind, causing him to land harshly onto the ground.

"Dusk!" Akame shouted out in worry.

"With everyone else wiped out, Rufus is the only one left standing! Leaving Sabertooth in first place!" Chapati announced as everyone cheered. "Here are the rankings!" The board showed Sabertooth in first place.

"What are you doing?" Obaba said, spinning her finger as a guild member tried to calm her down.

"Not too bad, I guess you could say." Ren commented.

"Yeah..." Hibiki agreed.

"Ugh, this isn't good." Arana said.

Risley chuckled. "Beth did her best!" She informed.

"As expected, Sabertooth took first place." Chapati announced.

"It was brilliant!" Yajima exclaimed.

"Both Fairy Tail and Twilight Phoenix teams put up a good fight, but the results were unfortunate. I expect better from them both next time." Chapati commented.

"I knew Fairy Tail and Twilight Phoenix were gonna suck!"

"Always in last place!"

"Save the Games for the ones who are strong!"

Natsu snapped. "What's so funny, asshole?!" He shouted.

"He blew his sack!"

"Howl all you want!"

"Enough." Erza said.

"If they wanna laugh let 'em." Elfman added.

"Sorry." Gray muttered while walking past Lucy.

"It's fine! We're just getting started." Lucy told him.

"Sorry I let you down." Dusk told his teammates.

"Stop looking all depressed, Dusk. We'll make them regret ever laughing at us." Nero reassured.

"This is just the beginning." Loji smiled at him.

Akame frowned when he saw Dusk's head down. "I'll be right back." He informed as he teammates nodded at him.

He finally found his mate leaning against the tunnel wall. Akame frowned and felt his heart break when he heard Dusk sobbing to himself. He walked on over and wrapped his arms around Dusk, holding him close to his chest.

"Man... I really am a failure, am I?" Dusk mumbled.

"No, you're not." Akame told him. "Just because you lost doesn't make you a failure."

Akame clenched onto Dusk tighter as he sobbed into his shoulder. "We're going to show everyone... Just how powerful Twilight Phoenix has become. I promise." Akame told him.
