CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE: AKAME VS. THE TWIN DRAGONS

"Go, Akame!" Chii cheered as the rest of Twilight Phoenix did the same.

"What happened to Zack?!" Jim asked.

"Rogue..." Frosch muttered.

"Sting-kun! The fight's just getting started!" Lector encouraged.

Everyone in the audience began cheering. In the audience, a tear fell from a hooded figure's eye, dropping to the ground and causing Jellal to turn around in alarm.

"This is..." Jellal thinks to himself. "Him?"

"It feels like Zeref, but it's different somehow." Ultear pointed out.

"He's in the stadium again, isn't he?" Meredy questioned.

Jellal took off running. 'Jellal, don't let him get away this time!' Ultear spoke telepathically.

'I know! I'm concerned about the match, but right now...' Jellal trailed off.

"You can take us on by yourself? You're just messin' with us..." Sting said.

"Maybe you're right... But I have a question for both of you." Akame began, pointing a finger at them. "Do you honestly think you're the only Third Generation around?"

Using the small blade that was hidden in one of his rings, Akame sliced his thumb, cutting himself. Almost immediately, he got covered in red mist. His face and arms got covered in red and black markings and his hair got spiker.

"No way... He can activate Dragon Force, too?" Sting mumbled.

"That's impossible..." Rogue muttered.

Akame smirked. "I call this leveling the playing field! It's time I get serious!" He exclaimed.

Sting and Rogue soon re-activated their Dragon Force. "Dragon Force is the power of a dragon. There's nothing more powerful in this world!" Sting exclaimed as he charged forward, but Akame was quick to counter it.

"I don't think you're all the way there yet, pal." Akame claimed.

"This is the power of a true Dragon Slayer. I should know. It's how I killed Weisslogia!" Sting exclaimed.

"The power of a true Dragon Slayer you say?" Akame quoted as he got covered in red mist. "I'm gonna show you the power of what an angry one looks like!"

Akame soon struck a fist that was covered in red mist towards Sting's face as Rogue appeared behind him. "Look out, Akame!" Loji warned.

"Behind you!" Ajar called out.

"Shadow Dragon's Roar!" Rogue shouted, releasing a blast of black shadows.

Akame turned around. "Blood Dragon's Roar!" He called out, cancelling out Rogue's attack as it hit him, causing an explosion.

"That was nothing!" Sting claimed, charging forward once more.

"Frosch... I... I can still fight!" Rogue declared.

Akame raised his hand as he grinned. "Bring it on." He challenged as Sting and Rogue charged forward once more.

"Yeesh. That guy..." Nero muttered.

"Those two definitely aren't weak, but Akame responds to stronger opponents by becoming more powerful than he already is." Ezekiel stated as they watched Akame continue to fight Sting and Rogue.

"His opponents are tough, too. They don't give up. Very impressive." Makarov complimented.

"Both sides are quite something." Mavis added as Akame released a ball of red mist.

"Marvelous..." Jura said.

"Wonderful parfum, Akame-kun..." Ichiya commented.

"Damn, how strong is that guy?" Ren wondered out loud.

Akame soon sent a punch towards Sting's face. "H-He's strong..." Jim muttered.

"That's Akame!" Chii claimed.

Jim deadpanned. "But where did Zack go?!" He questioned.

"I'm scared of what'll happen when he comes back..." Bruno mumbled as Akame punched both Sting and Rogue.

Sting sent a white beam towards Akame who dodged it and sent a blast of red mist right back at him, hitting Sting as he was sent flying.

"Hey, is this for real?!" Orga asked.

"I have no memory of seeing the power of the Dragon Force losing ground like this." Rufus said.

"Power, eh?" Minerva questioned more to herself as the fight between the three Dragon Slayers resumed.

Lector was looking at the Lacrima screen with tears flowing from his eyes. "Sting-kun!" Lector thinks to himself. A memory of when he first met Sting played in his mind.

"Sting-kun..." Lector sniffed.

"Sting!" Rogue shouted, summoning a ball of shadows.

"Yeah!" Sting agreed, summoning a ball of holy light right after.

"This feeling... The quality of the magic has changed again." Ajar pointed out.

"The magic of those two have begun to merge." Atugia stated.

"In the end, I wasn't able to get strong, but I love watching strong Sting-kun!" Lector thought.

"Unison Raid!" Harumi exclaimed.

"Akame! Dodge!" Dusk shouted.

"Rogue, hang in there!" Frosch said.

"Sting-kun... Sting-kun, you're the strongest!" Lector exclaimed.

"Yajima-san, what the heck is that?!" Chapati questioned.

"Unison Raid. It's a so-called Uniting Magic. It's high level magic that in general can't be mastered even if you devote your whole life to it." Yajima explained.

"This is the power of the Twin Dragons... However..." Minerva trailed off.

"Holy Shadow Dragon's Fang Flash!" Sting and Rogue shouted in unison, thrusting their attack forward as it headed straight towards Akame.

"He's not moving! He intends to take it?!" Jim asked as Chii looked worried.

An explosion was then heard.

"It's Fiore's strongest guild, Sabertooth, vs. the guild that's quickly rising the ranks, Twilight Phoenix! And taking the challenge of this tag battle are four dragons!" Chapati exclaimed.

"Although one of them has gone off somewhere..." Yajima reminded.

"Currently, below the arena, Akame and the Twin Dragons are locked in fierce battle!" Chapati said.

"Holy Shadow Dragon's Fang Flash!" Sting and Rogue shouted in unison, thrusting their attack forward as it headed straight towards Akame.

Akame leaned back as red mist appeared from his hand. "Dragon Slayer's Secret Art!" He called out. "Bloodline Inheritance: Conquering Crimson Consumption!"

A huge wave of red mist eventually overpowered the Unison Raid and engulfed Sting and Rogue, causing an explosion.

"Oh, my! It looks like the mega-moves of both sides ended the match... It's like an earthquake here! Apparently, the live feed lacrima is experiencing technical difficulties, so please sit tight a little longer!" Chapati announced.

Finally, the lacrima screens turned back on. "Oh, my! Thank you for your patience! It seems Lacrima-Vision is back up!" Chapati said.

Rogue stumbled back. "Akame Ketsu... Your power is... immeasurable..." He thinks to himself, falling forward.

Sting fell to his knees. "He's too strong... Akame..." He thought.

Sting and Rogue both collapsed to the ground in sync. "Th-This is... The last one standing is Akame Ketsu!" Chapati announced.

The gong soon rang out as Akame cheered in victory. "It's Twilight Phoenix! He broke the Twin Dragons! The winner is Twilight Phoenix! With this, they've leaped to first place! And this brings an end to the fourth day of the Grand Magic Games! After one day off, we'll be back the day after tomorrow with the final battle! The last day... will feature a survival battle, with all of the members participating! Which guild will achieve victory in the end?! Don't anyone miss it!" Chapati exclaimed.

The scoreboard showed Twilight Phoenix taking the first place spot, leaving Sabertooth in second.

"I figured it would turn out like this!" Bob exclaimed.

"That's what I expected, I guess I should say..." Goldmine said.

"Our goal for the final day has changed!" Obaba said, spinning her finger around.

Harumi laughed. "Bring it on, you old geezers! We'll be ready for ya!" She challenged.

"Twilight Phoenix is going down!"

"Atlas... The Earth God Slayer..." Jura said.

"Ezekiel..." Kagura muttered.

"Zack..." Ren stated.

"Let's have some fun, Akame-kun..." Ichiya said.

Meanwhile, Lector was sobbing. "Lector..." Frosch mumbled before she started tearing up as well.

"I can't believe those two lost..." Orga commented.

Rufus chuckled. "It was an interesting match. I've thoroughly memorized it." He said.

"This'll keep us in the spotlight for a while." Orga grinned.

"'For a while'... If they have a while..." Minerva informed.

"Th-That guy..."

Jiemma was seething, having a dark aura around him and scaring the nearby spectators.

"Saber's master!"

"Go ahead. I'll give this match to you. After this one, we're gonna keep winning anyway. We're not gonna miss one or two points."

"Don't cry about that one point later, kid!"

Sting clenched his fist as he recalled what Gajeel had said during the Chariot event. Akame walked forward, stopping in front of them.

"This is such a sight. Now you guys know what it's like to lose, huh?" He spoke.

People were leaving the stadium. Jellal was following the hooded figure.

"You did it, Akame!" Chii cheered, giving his partner a high five.

"I gotta hurry up and tell Dawn!" Akame stated.

Atlas walked up to him. "You did it, Akame!" He said.

Akame chuckled. "Yeah, well..." He trailed off as Ezekiel joined his side.

"Today, I'll give you honest praise, Akame. You're incredible." Ezekiel complimented.

"You think so?" Akame asked.

"Of course!" Ezekiel replied.

"I applaud you on your victory, but what happened to Zack?!" Jim questioned.

"Come to think of it... He took off during the middle of it! Doesn't he know the meaning of 'tag battle'?!" Akame responded, completely forgetting that he pushed Zack into a mine cart.

Jim deadpanned. "Have you forgotten what you did?!" He questioned.

"He most definitely did." Chii sighed.

"Get plenty of rest tomorrow to prepare for the final day's survival battle." Ezekiel informed.

"We're gonna win, for sure." Nero stated.

Under the stadium...

"Dammit... Blood sucker... The next time I see you, you're dead..." Zack muttered to himself. "Anyway, where the hell am I? Under the arena?"

Zack stopped in his tracks. "Wha..." He began in surprise. "What the hell is this?!"

In front of him was a cave full of dragon skeletons.

"A dragon... graveyard?!"

'Jellal, what's happening?' Ultear asked.

'Don't tell me he got away again?' Meredy questioned.

'No, I put some distance between us, and I'm on his trail. I'm thinking I'll make my move where there aren't any other people around.' Jellal replied.

'Roger.'

"You're not getting away this time... You possess magic similar to Zeref's... Who the hell are you?!" Jellal wondered.

Jellal continued to follow the hooded figure from a distance.

That day, we believed in victory. The final day was a really hard-fought battle.

Do you remember it, Dusk?

And then... July 7th. We lost... to fate.

One by one, all of our friends died. There was nothing we could've done to stop it.

Future Zack was shown to be writing a letter as tears fell from her eyes.

I can't express in words... Dusk... I can't take it anymore... Somebody help me!

The hooded figure finally stopped above the steps, getting a good view of the moon.

"Halt!" Jellal called out, making the figure pause as Jellal took off his mask. "I'm revealing my identity. Now you reveal yours."

A gust of wind blew through their cloaks. The figure turned around slowly, facing Jellal and revealing their face. He widened his eyes upon seeing who the person was.

"It can't be..."
