From the Past of Third Earth, Prologue

Centuries ago, the human race once populated the planet called Earth. The species was, however, arrogant and belligerent. The only thing keeping them from destroying themselves and the planet were eleven enchanted children, chosen by the colors of the rainbow, living in a parallel dimension to them. For centuries, the children protected the planet, unseen by the humans. One day, though, they disappeared without a trace, and Earth was thrown into darkness.

In the year 1999, the planet was devastated. Thermonuclear war had broken out, and the human race was all but annihilated. Of the humans that survived, most were enslaved by the forces of an alien empire.

Five men returned from their space mission to find their home demolished; being unharmed from the war and still sound of mind, they were able to escape from the alien empire's clutches. Through their determination to do what was right, they joined forces with those from another planet and brought the empire to its end using an ancient power, a machine of unstoppable might, to help them. Freeing all the slaves, they eventually brought the surviving humans back to their damaged world, which they had originally thought was destroyed.

Renaming their globe Second Earth to ease their minds, the humans started their civilization over again. Fields were sown, forests regrown, new species similar to the old were bred to populate the land. Centuries passed, and the fate of First Earth faded into legend.

As castles were built and a second Middle Ages was formed—far more peace-loving and less violent than its predecessor—one kingdom rose out above all the rest, protected and kept beautiful by a powerful sorcerer and a young princess, her hair touched by the colors of royalty upon reaching puberty. Due to the peaceful nature of this land's people, however, they were unprepared when the alien empire, having risen from its ashes like a phoenix, attacked a second time. Once again demolishing the planet and enslaving the humans, the empire made a move to control the entire universe. However, the sorcerer used the combined power of the princess and her court to safely scatter the human race, free all the other races enslaved across the universe, and crush the empire into a shadow of its former glory. The fate of the sorcerer, the princess, and those closest to her, however, remained unknown.

Left in ruins again, those remaining on Second Earth renamed it once more, calling it Third Earth. Leaving the planet to run wild, the humans and other intelligent species had to start from the very beginning, their once mighty races brought back to a primitive start. Meanwhile, other worlds fared better over the centuries, developing space travel and mighty kingdoms based on science, magic, or both. Third Earth was mostly left alone; myths of the tragedies which had transpired there caused most of the universe to avoid it, even though there finally came a time when no one remembered anything that had happened to First and Second Earth.

No one, that is, except Mumm-Ra, the Ever-Living Source of All Evil….
