A/N: Part of my 'Turnabout is Fair Play' Story

Charlie stepped out of her car and took a deep breath. It had been years since she'd been here, and the last time had been with her mother. Now she was all by herself. She didn't know why she was so apprehensive, but it felt like there was a dark cloud hanging over her despite the clear skies. "Well, I'm here, no turning back."

She made her way through the cemetery, keeping to herself as to not disturb the other people around. Off in the corner was a reserved spot for fallen heroes, their pure white headstones standing out against the rest of the graves. It took Charlie a few minutes to find the one she was looking for, the one belonging to her father.

"Hi Dad." She kneeled down and placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the headstone. The engraving was simple, Captain Chicago Walp, beloved husband and father. "Sorry I haven't been by in a while. I've been kinda busy." She straightened the dress uniform she was wearing, adjusting the cap on her head as well. "I finally graduated from West Point, just like you did." She sniffled while she tried to hold back her tears. "I wish you could have been there."

A breeze blew through the trees, creating a comforting rustle as Charlie composed herself. "Mom's doing fine. She still misses you sometimes but she's a lot better than after you left. That's all thanks to Beca, I wasn't too sure about her at first but she's kinda turned out to be a pretty badass step-mom." She let out a watery laugh. "And apparently their planning on giving me a little brother or sister."

"I got my marching orders," She stood up and made sure her eyes were dry. "So I won't be able to visit again for a while. I know mom's planning on visiting again soon but I wanted to stop by before I left." She straightened and brought herself to attention, saluting the headstone. "I will make you proud, I promise."

She brought her cap low over her eyes, turned and walked away.
