"Yes!" The cry of a lioness echoed as two lions slowly made their way down the ravine. "We got him."

At the bottom of the ravine, a lion was picking himself up after falling. He looked up and saw a lioness with violet eyes lunging at him.

Simba ran to get away from her. "Remember your training." He could hear the voice of his enemy calling, "As a unit."

Simba ran while lionesses from Zira's pride tackled him but quickly fell off. He ran until he came to a large log pile that was built to dam the river. Simba looked back, and Zira and her lionesses were getting closer.

Simba looked at the log pile and started to climb up. As he climbed, logs came crashing down, and the lions below stepped back out of the way. Zira snarled. Her chance to finish Simba was slipping away until she spotted Kovu at the top of the ledge.

"Get him, Kovu!" she commanded. "Do it now!" From Zira's left, her son Nuka leaped onto the pile.

"I'll do it for you, mother!" he cried out as he began to climb. To Zira's right, her daughter Vitani looked at the unstable logs, then at her mother. Her mother didn't seem to have any concern as Nuka looked back at her. The violet-eyed lioness noticed the twisted smile on her mother's face.

"Mother, are you watching?" Nuka called, and he continued climbing while snickering to himself.

At arm's length, Nuka managed to dig his right paw into Simba's left foot. "This is my moment of glory," he said.

"Nuka!" Nuka heard some call-outs. It was Kovu who leaped onto the woodpile and headed towards them.

"You will not take this from me, Kovu," Nuka snarled. But Kovu did not listen as he dove at his brother, shoving him away from Simba.

The two young lions regained balance on the logs, and a huge tree trunk from the pile tumbled down, just missing them.

The two lions quickly scrambled to a ledge, escaping any further danger from the logs.

The woodpile kicked up dust, giving Simba enough time to escape and recover.

Kovu, followed by Nuka, leaped into the gorge to regroup with their family. Zira had her back to them.

"I'm sorry, mother." Nuka approached. "I tried."

Her lips curled, processing everything that had happened. Her plan to finally end Simba had failed, and it was all due to Nuka's foolishness.

Wait, not Nuka! Kovu looked behind her, her son's Nuka groveling, but Kovu was not fazed by her, and she realized he was not respecting her. That will not do.

"You," she snarled. Nuka instantly became aware that he had upset her. "YOU!" She turned around and charged at him.

Nuka braced himself by shutting his eyes to avoid seeing what was going to come, but he heard someone else respond to Zira's paw.

Opening his eyes, he saw Kovu glaring at Zira; his left eye now had a scar, similar to Scar's.

"What have you done?" Zira snapped at Kovu, her voice echoing in the ravine. Kovu was trying to explain himself when he realized this was all wrong. "I did nothing!" He snarled at her.

"EXACTLY!" Zira raised her voice. "In doing so, you betrayed your pride." She did lose her concentration on her son. "You betrayed SCAR!"

"I want nothing more to do with him!" Kovu argued back. He was sick and tired of hearing about Scar. Zira started stepping towards him, but with every step, Kovu took one back, not turning his back on her.

"You cannot escape it," Zira snarled, trying to make herself bigger and more intimidating, doing everything to get Kovu back to the submissive cub he was to her, but Kovu saw an opening after shouting no, so he ran, the lionesses roaring at him, ready to retrieve him.

"Let him go," Zira stated. She was furious. Simba had escaped, and everything she dreamed of was ruined by Kovu. She jumped up on a ledge and declared, "Simba has hurt me for the last lionesses, Nuka and Vitani, gathered to listen to their mother.

"Listen to me, Simba is injured and weak," she slammed her paw to the rock ledge. "Now is the time to attack," she snarled. "We'll take his entire kingdom... BY force," she roared.

Her lioness roared in agreement as Zira gave out a haughty laugh, saying she would do whatever it took to take down Simba.
