Hey, it's been a while, sorry. I've actually had this done for a while, I changed the direction of the story when I read that portion of the manga. Now that it's been animated I figured its for the best that I post this. I dunno why, but for some reason I didn't want to post any thing until I got to the USJ incident. I hope those of you who still follow me will forgive me, if not, lemme know in the comments. I will work on crossposting this on ao3 later and fixing up some grammar issues in earlier chapters. LOL, something that I try to work on is to write Yuga in a manner that will make the readers laugh and say "wtf Aoyama", hopefully I folks are laughing. As always, read, enjoy, review!
I don't own Worm or MHA/BnHA

"You excited?"
"Bien sûr," Yuga replied with a dazzling smile as always.
It was early morning and all the patrons had felt Yuga's excitement. He constantly flutterted from place to place with a spring in each step. Some regulars could even swear that he had more "sparkles" than usual. Each stride he made was a brush stroke on the canvas of reality, and his discerning gaze assured that each stroke was nothing short of picturesque.
The day has come for Yuga ace UA's entrance exam! Naturally, he'd be accepted, or so he said aloud. Not a single soul contradicted him, or dared to outloud anyway.
It also helped that he wore his more bulky-looking belt over his clothes. Said clothes looked like a mixture of a tracksuit and renaissance cosplay, the top portion had frills that lined a huge zipper that ran down the middle. The support equipment-though bulky and barely legal-contrasted heavily with the elegant look his track suit created, but Yuga managed to make it look good.
He knew what he liked.
"Today's the day UA recognizes how dazzling I am~" Yuga gloated with a wink.
"Oh my," one of the women said.
"Such confidence," another said with enthusiasm, and Yuga soaked it all in.
"That's IF they don't make you fight someone with an iota of fighting experience," Ms. Hebert chimed in from behind.
"Oh my," one of the patrons began, "my dear, have you've been sleeping well?"
"No." Ms. Hebert said simply.
There were bags beneath her eyes, said bags were quite visible in spite of her glasses. She wore jeans, a black long sleeved shirt, her gloves-the exact same attire she wore the day before. It wasn't the first time it happened either. Ever since she erected the shed, she hasn't been getting proper sleep, or so it seemed to Yuga.
His Boss yawned as she faced him.
"You now understand how a tiny bit of experience makes a difference. Right?" Ms. Hebert said.
"O-oui," Yuga had answered with a smile, but he couldn't quite mask the fear that flashed through his eyes.
Ms. Hebert yawned again as she thrust a set of clothes into Yuga's chest, much to his confusion.
"Put-" she extra loudly that time, "put tha' on," she said in strained English, far too tired talk.
"Ohhh, master got me good luck clothes!" Yuga said, marveling at the clothes as he shuffled to the washroom. Ms. Hebert didn't bother correcting him.
"So, are you rooting for him?" The gorilla detective asked with a small smile. He was once again seated by the bar.
"I honestly don't care at this point," Ms. Hebert said blandly as she sat at her bar and let her head drop into her arms, mainly above one arm.
The gorilla detective just laughed in good nature.
"He's a handful, huh?"
Ms. Hebert only groaned much to all her patrons' collective amusement.
"Oh we got to go," one of the two ladies from earlier said as she stood up, she left the money on the table.
"We oughta go too."
"See ya!"
"We're rooting for you, Aoyama~" the other lady said as the rest of the patrons filtered out.
Once more, Ms. Hebert groaned
Once more the detective laughed.
"So do you think the kid can make it?" The detective asked.
"His chances aren't zero," she responded.
"But not high either, eh?" The detective assumed.
"He's observant when he wants to be and has a decent sense of timing," Ms. Hebert said with her head still borrowed into her arms, "but it's not real for him. He wants it, but he doesn't know what it is."
"Hmm," the Detective nodded thoughtfully before taking a sip, "yet you still helped him. Some passion project?"
"I don't careeeee," she said in sigh, her voice and tone drained of energy. "It was never my business to begin with. Pass or fail, all I'd say is that he could have done better."
"Heh heh, that's rather cold, even after everything you did to help out?"
"All I did was the bare minimum. Gotta make sure my employee can actually survive a fight. If he cries about it later at work, that means he's alive to actually cry."
"Still, what if he's serious?"
"I'll be here," Ms Hebert said. "Sometimes I wonder if I should do more to ward him off. This life isn't-"
"MAESTRO~"
Once more she groaned.
Yuga walked out wearing a lavender colored tracksuit with a white stripe running down the sides. The suit consisted of a jacket with a hoodie and pants, both were lavender. The jacket also has pouches on either side of the zipper that could be used to store small objects. The pants had pockets and a way to tighten it around the waist.
Ms. Hebert pushed herself off the table, stretching as she did so, while the Guerrilla detective only watched in amusement.
"How's the fit, kid?" the detective asked.
"It feels nice," Yuga said as he posed, "very bespoke! It does feels heavy, but it breathes really well. However, while I do like lavender, I feel the design could be better," he politely critiqued, but he looked happy wearing the track suit.
"You are free to alter it however you want, just remember it's mostly silk with padding," Ms. Hebert said with a yawn, "now get the hell out, both of you. There's a pillow up stairs with my name stitched on it."
The detective chortled as he picked up his briefcase and large portable cup of coffee, following Yuga out the door. Ms. Hebert followed behind to lock the door the second the two were out and hopefully not fall asleep before she climbed into bed.
"Still," the detective began as he stepped out with Yuga, "it was nice of you to make that for him. It's for good luck and courage, innit?"
Ms. Hebert scoffed.
"As if I'd waste a night on nonsense like that. He's got more moxy and confidence than both of us combined. I doubt there's any room left for encouragement," she nodded to Yuga. "So instead I gave him the extra layer of protection he needs."
"Oh yeah?" The detective had said in amusement as he slowly brought the coffee to his lips. "That thing built to ward off evil spirits?" He said in a teasing manner before he took a sip.
"I wish, sadly it's only resistant to stabbing and low caliber firearms."
"Uwah–wh-wai-what!?" The detective spat out mid-sip, nearly ruining his perfectly groomed fur and pressed suit.
"Oh! Maestro's amazing!" Yuga let out as he stretched and spun in place, really breaking in his new body armor.
"Good night," she said with no fanfare and a dead tired stare before closing the door and locking it very audibly.
"Ms. Hebert, what did you say!?"
"We're closed, go away," her voice echoed back.
"Ms. Hebert!"
"Can't hear you over the sound of me not knowing how to speak Japanese, Oyasumi-nasai!"
"That's was Japanese! Ms. Hebert? MS. HEBERT?"
"◆Dazzle~◆" Yuga said while hugging himself with one hand and cupping his chin with the other while motes of light dance around his body.
Yuga Aoyama was dazzling as he strode the halls of UA in his newly minted and bespoke attire!
He walked with purpose, his steps filled with power that only came with confidence!
He slammed the huge double doors open with great force, an act that garnered the attention of everyone in the room!
He went for a natural pose this time: legs reasonably parted, hands at the sides, chest out, chin up, and a smile plastered on his face. He really wanted to sell it, so he angled his face in a general area and winked.
A few flustered faces from his fellow test takers, and a few confused looks, left him satisfied.
He strode down to his assigned row to get to his seat and sat down.
He double-checked his slip, stood up, and promptly headed to a different, correct, row where his seat is actually at. Motes of light framed his every step as he walked..
As he moved to his assigned seat he noted the unopened packets, one in front of each seat. When he looked up he noticed one of the proctors was looking at him. The proctor wore something reminiscent of a cowboy with dreadlocks and a gas mask.
Yuga sent him a casual two-fingered salute and a wink.
If the cowboy noticed it, he didn't show it. The cowboy simply continued scanning the crowd.
A bit miffed, but Yuga made it to his seat regardless of the proctor's reaction, or lack thereof.
He sat down and positioned himself in a thoughtful pose. His eyes scanned the walls and he found a camera. He sent the camera a wink and proceeded to stare at it.
Before he realized it, the presentation had started and the rules and approved pencils were doled out (they just dropped from the sky). It was generic stuff, what was allowed, what wasn't, etcetera etcetera.
The test finally began and Yuga tore the packet open with the provided pencil and got to work!
His eyes scanned each answer, and he darkened every answer he knew from the bottom of his heart until the bubble reflected light back!
When he was done with his first pass, he went back and reread the questions. He filled in what answers he was confident in, again, making sure each filled-in bubble was both bold and shiny!
After that, since the exam didn't count wrong answers against one's score, he picked a letter and proceeded to mark that letter in every question he didn't answer. He made sure each and every single bubble he filled in was BOLD and SHINY!
And just what were the glorious results of his hard labour and hours of mental enrichment?
Roughly eighty percent of his answers were a single letter.
He flipped to the essay part of the test and wrote without reservation. He let the words sparkle out his mind, guaranteed to shine! As he did so, he made sure that the answer he wrote at least related to the question in some manner and added diamonds of various sizes with lines here and there to really make the typography stand out. ◆
That done, he turned in his exam.
After he handed it in, he smiled and posed as he walked away with all the confidence and swagger of a winner.
Unbeknownst to him, he walked away...never drawing the UA symbol near his name for extra credit as stated in the first page that held the exam rules.
Rules in bold letters that he never bothered to read….
Yuga basically slept through the explanation for the practical portion of the exam. He coyly asked a nearby test taker what he thought about the rules.
Stop robots-get points, avoid the big one worth zero points.
"Dazzlingly easy," a fabulous individual would have responded. Like Yuga did!
So he was outside, staring at the nearest visible camera monitoring them.
There was some minor commotion with a twitchy teen with a green afro and another taller one with shiny glasses.
He simply ignored them and planned for the test.
Find every camera and dazzle them!~
Yuga nodded and applauded his own genius! He continued to do so until he noticed everyone else already moving. The signal must have been given. He could use his quirk to catch up….
"You can, but you're bound to hurt someone, probably yourself."
His smile fell for a bit as he recalled a recent chit-chat he had with his teacher. His quirk easily devoured the distance between himself and where he wants to be, or doesn't want to be. An instant egress from any agresseuse who wanted to get a tad bit handsy with him!
She was not amused by his word choice. At all. And showed him that his proposed method needed work in a confined space, especially when you can't see behind you.
Though with that thought in mind, he began chasing after the students. Not ideal, but thanks to his morning runs he was able to catch up without breaking a sweat.
A few other test takers used their quirks to get ahead, and a few, like the unlikely trio ahead of him, had taken the time to bulk up with their quirks. Had he attempted to instantly catch up with his quirk, he might've hit them….But rather than to focus on what could've been, he instead focused on finding the cameras!
There!
A dazzling smile and picturesque pose as he ran!
There!
A lunge while leaning back that might look a bit too distorted by the angle, but he was sure he nailed it!
There!
A green afro'd test taker, garbed in a rather drab wear, appeared to be in need of help, specifically in front of a robot that is probably catching everything on film?
HELLO~ Time to shine!
He bulged his stomach out, absolutely sure the sparkle emitter was pointed directly at the robot, and let loose a beam of dazzling light!
The giant beam of light had hit the robot and punched right through it!
"A-a laser," the drab teen said in distress.
"Oh, what dazzling coopération!" Yuga said loudly, drawing the afro'd boy's attention. "Quite exquisite if I do say so myself, but unfortunately it's time for our partenariat to an end. I doubt we'll meet again," Yuga said with a gentle smile and wink.
If this guy was basically in tears after facing one small robot, then Yuga doubted he'd be able to shine enough to make it into UA's hero course.
"Ah, what?" the boy let out in a confused tone.
Yup, a dullard.
"You blond fem-asshole!" A guy three times their size shouted in Yuga's direction. "You nearly hit me with that!"
"a-ADIEU!" Yuga shouted as he quickly vacated the area in favor of finding more robots and for no other reason, none at all!
He stayed on task and found another camera, winked at it, then found a group of robot in his navel sight, and prepared to let lose another dazzling display of his quirk!
The shots would be tight, but with a bit of luck he could make it!
This time he went in sliding, another test taker with pink skin and fro left lubricant on the floor. And who was Yuga not to take advantage?
The world was his stage and he only needed to act! What more was there to think about!?
"There's force, and then there's appropriate force. A hero knows when to use both. Want an example?"
He remembered from the time he was told to attack her. He instantly regretted trying. And the explanation on how just a bit more force could break his arm far easier than dislocating his shoulder was really, plus the bugs…. But he took it to heart!
Yuga couldn't control the strength of his navel laser's output, but he could control the duration of the output!
He hopped onto the slippery trail. He let his momentum carry him forward, and let loose his Navel Laser Hors D'oervre! With a dazzle!
Where he would have tried to milk the most of that 1-second time limit before his stomach got upset, he settled for shortening the amount of time he used the laser! As his maestro said he didn't need the full digit! (she didn't phrase it like that)
It was still a work in progress, but Yuga focused on just barely activating his quirk, it was tough on his core(stomach/abs), but it worked!
Short bolts of dazzling light had shot out from his support gear and peppered the robots!
They didn't rip through them like a full beam would have, but they did dent the metal and pack enough force behind each shot to violently move the robot at the point of impact. Yuga also made sure his shots didn't hit the other test takers.
And he did it all with dazzle and a shiny smile!
By the time his momentum had stopped, he found the result of his handiwork to his favour. None of the robots were destroyed by his efforts, just dented, and three were remaining. The test takers who were struggling were able to back away from the three still functioning robots. This allowed Yuga to line up the perfect shot.
Yuga let loose a long beam of light for a duration of TWO seconds! In his eagerness, he forgot that he was both on his knees and on a slippery surface.
His body rocketed backwards by the force of his quirk!
His aim nearly wavered. Thankfully, his training in attempting to move while using his quirk allowed him to maintain his aim!
The beam of light had ripped through the three robots at once!
All the test takers turned as one to look at him.
Thankfully he didn't fall over backwards, and quickly posed.
"Hm hm!" He hummed loudly and framed his face with one hand, the other fashionably holding his belly. He was smiling, but underneath he felt like hurling and falling over to hold his poor aching tummy.
Suffice to say, he was down for the count, he could do no more.
It was a short amount of time, but he was pretty optimistic that he had done enough. He was pretty sure he'd need to go to the bathroom at the first opportunity he got.
He was also incredibly grateful that when a giant robot appeared out of the ground, it was at the otherside of the testing ground.
He was unable to move at the moment.
"And I took out all three at once!" Yuga bragged loudly. "Way better than this one test taker who broke all their limbs to defeat a ginormous robot worth zero points."
"That's great," Miss Hebert said with an irritated voice. "But did you have to come right after!"
"Évidemment~" Yuga replied with his usual smile. "So what is this?"
Yuga had returned, found the door unlocked, and walked in on Miss Hebert covering the gorilla detective with bugs. Said detective was in his yellow boxers.
"Oh!" Yuga said in surprise as he cover his mouth. "An affair!"
"D-don't even joke about that!" the detective said loudly with a hint of fear. "Just accidently changing my social status online was enough to make my wife think I was cheating on her," he said with a dark and fearful look.
"I'm just taking the good detective's measurements for a commission," Miss Hebert said with a grumble.
"With bugs?" Yuga questioned.
"Yeah-I don't feel comfortable having so many bugs crawling on me," The gorilla detective said.
"And I don't feel comfortable being strong-armed into a commission, but here we are. Now zip it, I'm almost done."
True to her words, after a few minutes the bugs, mainly bees and butterflies and spiders, quickly vanished.
The detective still looked uncomfortable as he smoothed out his fur.
"So…about the bugs…." he began.
"They are usually kept out of this building and I regularly pass sanitation Inspections far beyond the passing grade. Actually, a few health and sanitation inspectors are regulars here."
"Still," the gorilla detective said.
"Oh so that's why maestro covered me in bugs that time," Yuga said as he recalled the time he was covered in bugs. Yuga winced and a shiver went down his spine as he recalled being covered in bugs. He took a lot of showers afterwards. He can still remember the dark chittering mass crawling all over his body….
"Well that too," Ms. Hebert said. "I also needed to see how you would react. Would you freak out or stay focused. Surprisingly it was the later."
"...Maestro I think I just froze that time," Aoyama spoke honestly, fully dropping his façade as he recalled so many legs crawling on his body….
"You know…even if it was on private property that doesn't sound right…." the inspector said, letting that sentence hang in the air.
Ms. Hebert sighed, already knowing where that comment was going in.
"I don't do lingerie. So before you ask-.'"
"WHOA WHOA! I was asking for my wife and kids! I figured you could probably remake their uniforms or something!"
Ms. Hebert looked at him. He looked at her back with pleading eyes and a small smile, and she sighed.
"Fine, but just their student uniforms and an undershirt for your wife. You're on your own for casual stuff. That reminds me I should probably make something for your family as well," she said to Yuga. "When you get your rejection letter, you should come here and I'll whip something up."
"Wh-why are you assuming I'll get rejected?" Yuga asked.
"Bring your wife and kids in and I'll use my bugs to take a few measurements. I'll only use butterflies," Ms. Hebert said as she got out a note pad and jotted something down.
"Will do. By the way, how flammable are the silk?" The Detective asked.
"Personally, I've never had an issue, but I figure you would probably know better qualified individuals who are more knowledgeable in this area."
"I do know a few people who work on hero uniforms."
"If you approach them, leave my name out of it."
"Will do."
They ignored me. Yuga thought to himself with a dark look on his face despite the smile he wore.
"I-I see," Yuga's mother said.
"Sounds splendid," his father had said enthusiastically.
"Mhmm! I'm sure I passed Papa!" Yuga said eagerly in his pajamas.
His father gave a good natured laugh while his mother continued to wash the dishes with her back to them.
Yuga came home, relaxed and waited for his father to get home to tell both of his parents the good news. His father came home late, so Yuga was extremely eager to share the details of his performance. Once his father sat down on the couch, Yuga instantly unloaded on him with as many flashy details as he could muster!
"Alright, alright, I do believe you have work in the morning, Yugaboy," his father said flamboyantly. "Hop on to bed, I doubt you'd want to be late and make your boss upset."
Yuga nodded fervently.
"I will! Night Momma, Night Papa, I love you both!"
"And we love you, right dear," his father said.
"Ah! Yes, hon, I love you. Good night."
And with that Yuga rushed off to bed. He rushed to his room and carelessly shut his door loudly.
And like that, his father and his mother were left alone in silence.
Yuga's father moved his hand up and removed his glasses. He noted how his hand trembled, making him glad he sent Yuga off to bed. He forced his hand into a fist and took a shaky breath in and gripped his fist with his other hand. He let out a shaky exhale.
He turned and looked at his wife, the lovely mother of his child. Even through his blurry vision, he noted how she was trembling.
He walked up behind her and placed his arms around her.
He felt her body go stiff and rigid in his grasp. He could feel the sharp intake of air she took.
He brought his lips close to her ear, it was close enough that his mustache tickled her lobe as muttered words of security.
"It'll be okay," he murmured silently, just loud enough for her to hear. He felt her relax. Her silent but rapid breathing began to calm.
"It'll be okay," he repeated, far less confident in his own words, but he forced his tone to be calm.
Her breathing further slowed.
"We're okay, we're okay," he said as he hands moved to her arms and rubbed it up and down in a soothing manner.
He felt her nod.
"We'll all be fine. Yuga took the exam, we've held up our end. We're fine."
He felt her nod once more.
"Everything will be okay. I'm sure Yuga failed."
