Chapter 510 Split Up

The heroes and their allies regrouped. The ball of light created by Toffee's sun spell was destroyed freeing Stan from being frozen. Mabel was taken to the nearby water and dropped in finally rehydrating the mermaid and allowing her to breath easier. Some water was splashed on Soos making his clay body no longer dry and stiff. The little group decided to head away from the tunnel leading to Hotland and find a different location in Waterfall to rest and talk about what happened. They eventually found a safe are near a harbor. Undyne, Viper, Quote, Toriel, Jenka, Sheo, Sly, Ser Manuel, Isaac, Hornet, and Baby Depression were filled in on what happened with Toffee's evil spell on the Gravity Falls gang and the ambush. The heroes then asked about the monster children that had been with Toriel and Undyne told them she had contacted a small detective agency she knew called Team Chaotix who had located the parents and had helped reunite them with their children.
"At least there's some good news." Said Finn half heartedly.
"Hey don't beat yourself up over what Toffee did, I don't think anyone could have seen someone pulling a stunt like that." Said Undyne.
"Yeah creep got us good." Grumbled Stan.
"Still. I should have been more vigilant and my instincts failed me." Said Finn.
"It happens kid. We can't see or prevent every bad thing that's going to happen, we just have to deal with the fallout the best we can. Will figure out some way to help your friends and make that lizard pay dearly for what he did." Said Undyne.
"Perhaps we should see is Jenka could undo the spell on the humans." Said Toriel.
"Yeah she's really good at magic, maybe she can fix them." Said Sheo.
"I'm game for anything." Said Stan.
Jenka had the Gravity Falls gang stand in a line, except for Mabel who floated in the water nearby and she examined them thoroughly. She mumbled a few spells and waved her hand across the face of the group and scowled a little bit.
"What is it?" Asked Dipper.
"The thing that has transformed you into monsters is both a potion and a spell combined together. Only magic users with a good source of knowledge and years of experience can pull something like that. It's very powerful and it simply can't be undone by normal magical means. I'm afraid I can't undo this." Said Jenka.
"What if you had one or more items of magical powers to boost your own magic, like the Crystal Stars?" Asked Ford.
"It's possible. Let me see the stars." Said Jenka.
The Crystal Stars were taken out and handed to Jenka. She placed them on the ground together, placed her palm on them, and began to chant a little. Some sparks of magic hopped out of Jenka's cane and struck the Gravity Falls gang and they all felt a tingling go through their bodies, but it immediately stopped. Dipper and the others looked down at their bodies and saw that they remained unchanged.
"What gives?" Asked Pacifica looking annoyed.
"I'm afraid, we might need all the Crystal Stars to either fix you or give you the ability to change back and forth between human and monster forms. The magic that is infecting you is very tricky." Said Jenka.
"Well...at least we know that one star is in Hotland." Said Ford.
"Which is going to be tough to get since, some of us aren't exactly travel worthy for a hot place." Said Mabel indicating her mermaid tail.
"Not to mention there is a artificial sun in Hotland." Said Viper.
Both Stan and Gideon flinched at the mention of a sun.
"So some of will have to stay behind, while the rest continue on to Hotland." Said Hunter Wizard.
"By my observations Mabel, Stan, and Gideon are currently unfit to travel." Said Giffany.
"So those three can't go, do we have a place they can stay?" Asked Phoebe.
"They can crash with me at my place and I happen to know that there's at least one house close to mine that isn't being used, so you can rent it if there's not enough space at my place." Said Undyne.
"Thanks you." Said Mabel.
"I also think Wendy should stay behind in Waterfall." Said Dipper.
"What? Why?" Asked Wendy looking a little annoyed and confused.
"Of the members of our group, you're one of the only ones not suffering from a extreme handicap and are able to defend themselves, plus your weaknesses aren't as big as some of us. Also I trust you to help look after the others and one of those." Said Dipper before pointing at the Crystal Stars.
"You think we should separate our Crystal Stars?" Asked Gata.
"I do. It'll help keep them safe and out of Siren's hands." Said Dipper.
"That's smart." Said Finn.
"Thanks." Said Dipper.
"Fine I guess I can remain behind with the others." Said Wendy before walking over and taking one of the Crystal Stars.
Finn put one of the stars in his bag and the other in Dipper's bag.
"So who all should stay back in Waterfall to look after and protect Mabel, Stan, Gideon, and Wendy?" Asked Jake.
"I'll stay behind and look after." Said Huntress Wizard.
"I shall stay as well. I sense a fair amount of magic in Waterfall that could possibly give us a lead on Horror's Hand." Said Rock Wizard.
"We shall stay behind and provide aid as well." Said one of the Eliminators and his companion nodded in agreement.
"I'm a bit too old for much traveling and I'm not much of a fan of Hotland." Said Jenka.
"I'll be staying in Waterfall with Isaac and Baby Depression. Will be looking for Six, I don't...know why, but I sense she is still in Waterfall." Said Toriel.
"And you know I wouldn't be much help in Hotland." Said Undyne.
"I'm staying in Waterfall to help Mabel adjust to her new body." Said Rain.
"I'm not really much of a fan of extreme heat, plus I don't have any tech to keep me cool or hydrated." Said Locke looking apologetic towards Gata.
"Do you wish for me to remain in Waterfall or accompany you to Hotland?" Asked Giffany looking at Ford.
"You may come and assist the group in Hotland." Said Ford.
"So it appears the ones going to Hotland are Dipper, Pacifica, Soos, Ford, Giffany, Finn, Fern, Jake, Gata, BMO, Sans, Papyrus, Heckapoo, Hunter Wizard, Vivian, two Wizard Cops, Viper, Quote, Sly, Sheo, Hornet, Loke, and myself." Said Brain Wiz.
"Sounds about right." Said Finn.
"Got us a good group. Don't you guys worry we got this quest in the bag." Said Jake.
"I feel like we need to take a moment to discuss how dangerous our enemies are, particularly the Gunslinger Lich, Toffee, and those we saw fighting alongside Toffee." Said Huntress Wizard.
"Good point." Said Gata.
"We know the Gunslinger Lich is a deadly opponent with powerful sharp shooting skills and is capable of bringing the dead back to life to fight for him. I believe he was just demonstrating his abilities last time and toying with us. Not to mention the creatures that were with him were tough as well. The red ones were immune to fire and were capable of absorbing it. Then there is Toffee, who managed to take us by surprise by what he did to the Gravity Falls humans. He also launched a ambush against us and showed a good deal of fighting skills and knowledge of dealing with monsters like Wendy and Stan. Toffee is someone we should not underestimate. Then there are the ones working with Toffee. A gang of dangerous pirates of undead and demonic origins, a clone of Elise, and a couple of young, but fairly skilled magic users." Said Huntress Wizard.
"The girl, Angelica who summoned the Celestial Spirit and used Angel Magic is very concerning." Said Brain Wiz.
"Angel Magic?" Asked Pacifica.
"It's a rare and dangerous magic. It is a magic that revolves around the summoning of angels through the use of golden coins called Angel Coins which are capable of producing different kinds of damage, depending on the kind of angel summoned. It is believed that the Magic is miraculous and will wash away the wielder's "sins" with a "holy light". However in actuality the Magic suffers from two notable and serious drawbacks: the summoning of angels will shorten the caster's life span and will inflict great pain onto them every time the summoned angel is defeated. A extreme double edged sword." Said Huntress Wizard.
Everyone was startled by this.
"What...kind of person would willingly use magic like that?" Asked Pacifica.
"And...one that's about our age." Said Dipper.
"Who can say. Maybe she was forced to do it by Toffee or someone else or maybe something else is at play." Said Hunter Wizard.
"Still...messed up." Said Pacifica with a shudder.
"Alright let's saddle up." Said Finn.
Dipper, Ford, Soos, Pacifica, and Giffany said their respective goodbyes to their friends, Gata gave Locke a quick kiss on the cheek, Hunter Wizard gave Huntress Wizard a quick kiss on the lips, and Brain Wiz told Rock Wizard and Jenka that he and the other wizards in the group would do a quick scouting mission to where Ballos was being held to get a feel for the guy to see what they would be dealing with in the future. With that said the groups went their separate ways.
"So how exactly are we going to get me around with places without water?" Asked Mabel.
"Don't worry I have an idea." Said Undyne as she headed over to a store on the dock.
Undyne purchased a wagon that had no holes or cracks in it and Rain used his power to fill it up with water. One of the Eliminators picked Mabel up and placed Mabel in the water filled wagon. Stan grabbed the wagon and pulled it along as the group headed towards Undyne' house. Several minutes later they arrived at Undyne's place. Undyne's house resembled a large black and white fish. The right side of the house was white, while the left side was black. The house had a door that resembled mouth with gritting fangs and lips, two windows that resembled slanting glaring eyes, two fins on the side and a large fin and ponytail-like structure curled around the house.
"Welcome to my home and over there is a house you can rent if there's not enough room for everyone." Said Undyne indicating a large house that resembled a anchor.
"I see the neighborhood has a water theme." Said Stan.
"I kinda like it." Said Wendy.
"So who shall go to what house?" Asked Toriel.
"Well Mabel, Stan, Gideon, Wendy, and a couple of others can crash at my house and the rest can go to the rental house." Said Undyne.
"I'll go to Undyne to help with Mabel." Said Rain.
"And I'll come as well." Said Huntress Wizard.
"Guess will all take the rental house." Said Toriel.
"Here let me unlock my door and y'all go inside and make yourselves at home, while I help Toriel get the keys to the rental house." Said Undyne before she unlocked the door to her house.
The Gravity Falls gang, Rain, and Huntress Wizard headed inside the house, while Undyne lead Toriel to a medium size building nearby. There was a window for customers to speak to a employee who handed out the keys. The current employee manning the window was a humanoid hermit crab monster named Firth. Firth was blue with a yellow underbelly, his eye stalks were boxy in shape, and had antennas on the front of his head. He had a pointed nose, wore a yellow, and a plain white shell.
"Sup Firth how have you been?" Said Undyne.
"I'm alright, though some investments I made with my money haven't really brought in the cash I thought they would." Said Firth.
"Sorry to hear that, I'm sure you'll eventually make a good investment. I got some friends who wish to rent the house near my place." Said Undyne before handing Firth a stack of bills.
"Thanks, here's the key and backup key." Said Firth taking the stack and handing some keys to Undyne.
"Thank you and if you need help or simply want to hang out, just give me a call or any of the Royal Guard." Said Undyne as she and Toriel walked away.
"Later Undyne." Said Firth.
"You didn't need to pay, I have money." Said Toriel.
"It's fine, I'm just helping out a queen and her friends." Said Undyne handing Toriel the keys.
"You know I renounced my position." Said Toriel.
"So you say, but I feel you've only temporarily retired from it after what happened to your kids." Said Undyne.
"I suppose I did, but I really don't have any intention of going back to it." Said Toriel.
"Look...I get you and Asgore had some issues about what went down, but the times I've been around him or spoken to him after you left, I could tell he missed you and wanted to make things right. I feel confident those adventures could probably talk some sense into him and maybe destroy the barrier, but I think you could really help if you spoke to him." Said Undyne.
"I'll think it over." Said Toriel.
They reached the houses and Toriel headed into the anchor house along with Rock Wizard, Locke, the two Eliminators, Jenka, Isaac, and Baby Depression. Undyne went into her house to see Mabel chili in the wagon in the living room, Rain was sitting in a chair nearby, Stan and Wendy were on a couch, and Huntress Wizard was browsing some books on a bookshelf.
"All good?" Said Undyne.
"We're good." Said Mabel.
Undyne headed over to a closet and located some sleeping bags as we as an inflatable kiddy pool. She pumped the kiddy pool up in the living room and had it filled with water. Stan moved Mabel from the wagon to the kiddy pool so she would be more comfortable.
"So where's Gideon?" Asked Undyne.
"He's in the bathroom sulking." Said Stan.
"Will just give him some space as we figure out what to do next." Said Undyne.
Gideon sat in the bathroom glaring at the mirror. He was a vampire now and he no longer had a reflection, which angered and upset him. Gideon made sure no one was hanging around the bathroom door before pulling out his communication crystal and gave Laser Wizard a call.
"What is it Gideon?" Asked Laser Wizard.
"Your stupid lizard friend turned me into a vampire and the other people from Gravity Falls into monsters!" Said Gideon.
"What? Hold on. Start from the beginning." Said Laser Wizard.
Gideon filled Laser Wizard in on recent events. Laser Wizard wasn't happy about what happened to one of his prized students.
"I understand you are upset about your situation, but at least this helps protect your cover." Said Laser Wizard.
"Cover? I don't care about my cover! I need you to change me back to normal!" Said Gideon.
"I can't simply do that over a communicator, plus the magic to do that isn't my specialty. I promise I will talk to Toffee about what he did and have him work up a cure to undo it, but we have to be careful and maintain your cover. I promise you it'll all work out." Said Laser Wizard.
"Fine." Mumbled Gideon before ending the call.
In Hotland, Laser Wizard just let out a annoyed sigh. The situation with Gideon was going to be troublesome and he regretted not specifically telling Toffee not to harm Gideon in any way, since he was on their side. There was also Angelica to think about, she was a incredibly powerful and determined wizard, who was using dangerous magic that was going to shorten her life and kill her. Laser Wizard saw that as a waste of a perfectly good minion that could help him get back at Maja. He would just have to talk to Angelica about using the Angel Magic less to get more use out her, when she and Koba returned from Waterfall.
Back in Undyne's house, Gideon had joined the others in the living room to discuss what they could do.
"I heard there was some kind of lab run by a monster called Dr. Cranken, who possibly had information about a place called the Vault of Valefar that might have a Crystal Star in it." Said Huntress Wizard.
"The lab was attacked recently by the Legion of Light and some mercenaries, the place got wrecked and Dr. Cranken was killed. The place is most likely get taken apart by Roland and the Shellfish Corp." Said Undyne.
"Who are Roland and the Shellfish Corp?" Asked Rain.
"Roland greedy business tycoon and the owner and CEO of Shellfish Corp. Shellfish Corp is basically a company that does all sorts of business involving scouring, scrape metal, trading, and transporting. On the surface level they're perfectly legal, but I have heard some reports and rumors about some shady business practices." Said Undyne.
"Kind of makes me think of Preston." Grumbled Stan.
"Do we have any leads on the Vault of Valefar?" Asked Huntress Wizard.
"A few rumors about a ship owned by the X-Nauts doing something odd in one area and a report of monsters seeing a strange figure that matches some descriptions of Valefar, but nothing too concert. Though I will look into it." Said Undyne.
"Man...really not much to do." Said Mabel looking a little depressed.
"Don't you worry there plenty to do around here. I got a few cases you can help and there's plenty to explore. We're going to have our own adventures, until the others get back." Said Undyne.
"She's right. We're going to make the best of our situation and who knows maybe will find a big lead on Horror's Hand." Said Wendy.
"Alright let's do it! It's Adventure Time!" Said Mabel with excitement.
The rest of the group cheered in agreement.
