Lincoln gave a small groan as he slowly opened his eyes. "Ugh…what?" He said as a bright light suddenly shined on him. "Alright, grandpa! You got three seconds to spill your guts!" An angry voice yelled at him as his vision struggled to adjust to the light. "Ahh! What the heck?! Am I tied up?!" Lincoln exclaimed as the camera zoomed out a bit, revealing he was currently hogtied on a concrete floor.

"Answer the question, old timer!" The voice shouted again as the light was brought closer to his face. "Ahh! Why the heck are you calling me that?! And where's Lily?!" Lincoln cried out, starting to get scared and angry for his baby sister when someone kicked him in the stomach.

"AHA! I KNEW THIS OLD MAN IS A BABY LOVER!"

"Evan…I don't think he's an old man." A softer voice said in annoyance.

"Zip it, ABBY! OF COURSE HE IS! WHY ELSE WOULD HE HAVE WHITE HAIR!?"

"…He could be albino?"

"Pfft, he doesn't have red eyes!"

At this point Lincoln was trying desperately to loosen the electric cords that currently tied him up.

"...Lincy?" They heard Lily babble as they saw her toddle into the room.

"Seriously!? I told Cooper to keep watch over her!"

"Evan, you know he's a sucker for puppy eyes."

Lincoln grinded his teeth as he slowly felt the cords around his wrists and ankles gradually loosened with his struggling, and hearing Lily say his name gave him just enough determination to keep going at it.

"..SZtill though! We managed to save this kid from some weirdo old man!"

"Evan, did you ever maybe stop to think this old man could've been her grandpa?" Another voice questioned with a yawn. "Pfft, what demented grandpa takes a baby to a park?"

"All of them, you Cadbury dumbass!" The tired voice exclaimed irritably as Lincoln finally broke free from the cables, grabbed the light source and threw it in the direction of the voice of 'Evan'.

"Ow! I knew it, the old man has escaped!" Evan exclaimed before his eyes widened, not expecting the 'old man' to immediately lunge at him angrily. "I! AM NOT! AN OLD MAN!" Lincoln yelled as he raised his fist, but managed to calm himself.

"...Look, I just want my sister, okay?""

"Pfft, si-"

"Evan, finish that sentence and the only thing you'll be eating tonight is dish soap." The second voice's owner growled as Lincoln saw a girl with long brown hair wearing a gray sweater and a pink skirt.

"S'up dude? Name's Abby, the moron you were about to punch, deservedly so, is my brother Evan." She said as he turned back to the boy he was on top of and saw he had shorter brown hair and was wearing an old winter coat with holes scattered all over and gray sweatpants.

"Abby! Don't fraternize with the enemy! For all we could know he could be lying about this 'relation'!" Evan exclaimed as he saw Lily happily toddle over to Lincoln. "Lincy!" She smiled as he picked her up and kissed her forehead. "Hey, Lily! Hope these weirdos didn't hurt you." He said softly to her while holding her close to his chest.

"Uhhh guys, have you seen the baby?" A boy with blonde hair said as he poked his head in through the door at the top of the staircase as Evan facepalmed. "...Cooper!" He sighed irritably. "What…I got distracted…" Cooper muttered while avoiding eye contact with the other boy.

"Are you all done?" The tired voice's owner finally spoke up again, prompting everyone to turn to the corner of the room to see a taller girl with shoulder length dirty blonde hair, wearing a pink t-shirt, a green skirt and blue shorts.

"Sasha! So glad you're here. This crazy old guy just barged in here and tried to kidnap that baby!" Evan exclaimed as Abby facepalmed at her brother's stupidity.

"…Evan…that's not an old man…" Sasha groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"What? Of course he is!" Evan shouted, grabbing Lincoln's face and pulling his cheek.

"What old man is that short, that high pitched and that wrinkle free?" She said with a glare that emphasized the droopy bags under her eyes.

"…"

"Uhhhhhhh….the Chinese kind?" He said with a shrug as Abby slapped his face as Lily clapped her hands laughing at him.

"Ugh…sorry about my brother, he's an idiot." Abby sighed as Lincoln gave a nervous chuckle. "Uhhh it's fine…I guess." He said uneasily while holding Lily away from the other boy's direction.

Sasha gave an annoyed groan as she shook her head. "Seriously? I told you guys to go get more fruit and you come back with two kids!" She said as Evan gave a nervous smile. "Too be fair….he's an old man."

"I'M NOT OLD, YOU MORON!" Lincoln yelled. "Pbbbbbt!" Lily blew a raspberry at Evan.

Before Evan could say anything else they all soon heard a small rumble as Sasha looked out the window and saw that dark clouds were gathering.

"Uh oh…looks like rain." She said with an irritated sigh as she turned back to Lincoln.

"Sorry about all this." She said.

"*Sigh*…it's fine." He said irritably while holding Lily to his chest and patting her back.

"Guess we're rained out for now." Lincoln sighed as Sasha smiled. "Listen, I know we got off on the wrong foot because of SOMEBODY….the least we can do is let you stay the night. We can prepare a cot for you two up on the main floor if you want." She offered as Lincoln looked at his baby sister and sighed. "…Sure…" He relented as he heard his stomach growling. "Oh yeah… forgot I didn't eat lunch today."

"Not to worry. Abby, take our guests to the cafeteria so they can eat."

"Wait, cafeteria?" Lincoln questioned as Lily gave a yawn.

"Yeah, follow me, dude." Abby spoke as she led him up the nearby set of stairs to a set of metal doors. Pushing them open, Lincoln took in the sight of a decayed and ruined school hallway filled with rusted, beaten up lockers.

"Whoa….wait a sec…are…are we in the old middle school?"

"Yeah, I mean, no one else was using it, so…" Abby said with a shrug as she pushed open another set of doors after walking for a few minutes and entered the cafeteria with Lincoln and the baby.

Lincoln was shocked to see more kids around either his age or older mingling in the cafeteria.

"uhhhhhh…"

"What's wrong?"

"I…Why are all these kids here?" He asked.

"...yeah you see…most of these kids…they….they were abandoned or neglected by their families so…they just come here to stay."

"Wait, really…all of these kids were…how come no one's ever said anything about this place?" Lincoln asked her as Abby placed her hands in her pockets.

"Honestly? I think it's because people just see an abandoned school and think nothing of it. All I know is the city has no plans on tearing this place down due to historical value. Plus, with the whole thing being a few blocks away from a grocery store, we have a steady supply of food." She said with a shrug as Lincoln started to look down. "Maybe I shouldn't eat, I mea-" Lincoln tried to say only for Abby to raise her hand to stop him.

"Don't. We don't need pity here." She said casually. "Besides, you get used to it. So c'mon, we're having Salisbury steaks tonight…as long as the store has plenty in the freezer aisle." She said, muttering the last part as they walked into the kitchen, where they saw two teens; one with brown hair in pigtails and the other was blonde with a buzzcut.

"Yo! Gil, Rocheal!" Abby yelled, startling the two. "Hey, Ab…by…did someone abandon a freakin' BABY?!" The girl exclaimed in a horrified tone. "Oh, God no! At least, I don't think so. No, Evan decided to be Evan and thought this baby's brother was an old man."

"…but…he doesn't even look old…"

"Exactly…" Abby sighed. "Anyway guys, this is…..uhhhh…"

"Lincoln… and this is my little sister, Lily." He introduced nervously as said baby started to whimper.

"Lincy!" She whined as Lincoln smiled. "Guess she's getting hungry." He said while tickling her nose. "You got anything for babies to drink or eat?"

"Yep, we sure do!" Gil said, opening a nearby cooler and pulling out a jar of baby food. "We snagged a few of these on our last food run, we…uhh…..we thought they were pudding cups…"

"They're glass, Gil…" Rocheal said, shaking her laugh with a chuckle as she took the small jar from him and grabbed a plastic spoon from a drawer. "Here ya go." She said as Lincoln happily took both.

"Thanks guys!" Lincoln walked over to a nearby table and started to feed Lily as he felt his phone vibrating reaching into his pocket he noticed a text from Rita.

Lincoln, we'll be home tomorrow evening. We got held up in some bad traffic, and Jr. is pitching a fit

-Love mom

Lincoln rolled his eyes. "Oh sure, I bet she's saying it was somehow MY fault." He grumbled angrily while unconsciously balling his fist as Lily reached over and patted his arm. "Lincy?"

"Huh?...oh….well Lily, looks like we have no choice but to stay here for the night, at least until tomorrow morning." He told the baby before popping the jar lid off and feeding her a spoonful of baby food.

Lincoln and Lily were following Abby as she opened a nearby door and allowed them inside. "Here we are; your room for the night." She said as he looked around the decayed classroom with several empty beds scattered around instead of desks, all of which looked to be in poor condition.

"Wow….seems kinda…..cramped."

"Eh, when there's as many kids as us in one place, you gotta use all the space you can." She said with a shrug

"I could tell you stories about how true THAT is." He muttered under his breath as she left the two alone.

Lincoln sighed as he reached into his backpack and pulled out his coat and folded it to make a small makeshift bed for Lily, afterwards he then fully unzipped his bag and placed the coat inside and put Lily on top. "Goodnight, Lily."

Lily gave a sleepy yawn and curled up in his coat. "Nigh-nigh, Lincy."
