Winds Of Fate

Chapter 17

We're going to get older, whether we like it or not, so the only question is whether we get on with our lives or desperately cling to the past."

Brooke took a breath. Feeling her stomach twist and turn as she answered the questions the doctor had asked about Lorena.

She quickly wiped the tears that were threatening to fall.

"Pull it together Davis. Strong. Tough. Smile." Brooke told herself. As she entered the hospital room and went further inside she took off her shoes and climbed into bed beside her daughter.

Brooke sighed deeply. If she could take this from her daughter she would no question. Yes the doctor reassured her that.

Lorena was all dark hair hazel eyes and dimpled smile.

"How are you feeling?" Brooke asked.

"Tired. What happened to me? Why am in the hospital?" Lorena asked.

"I can stick around you probably want to stop by the house and pick up some things. They are going to run more tests and observe her before sending her home." Lucas said. As he entered the hospital room.

"That would be great." Brooke kissed her forehead. Before making her way towards the door.

"Given what's happening now. Doesn't it make more sense to let the boys stay with me? Then you can really focus on Lorena."

"And won't get pulled in every direction. We're in this together as parents. Let me help you." Lucas said.
