Chapter 30:
No one knew how this would happen. No one knew anything about them. No one knows how to exactly stop them. The Weeping Angels appeared through the cracks of the universe, cleared out all the people that were in Mountain Glenn, and were now aiming for their next feeding: City of Vale.
00:00- Weeping Angels arrived at Vale
No one paid attention nor cared when they first noticed the statues or when a few had disappeared from their usual spots in the city. Their only concern was the dark skies that appeared as if the sun disappeared on this day. Until the first sweep of feeding happened.
00:10- 5% of City of Vale's Population Disappeared
Panic began to ensue once the Angels had caused people to disappear into thin air and soon more began to appear. Messing with electricity, people running all over the places, and weapons being inferior to them, the Angels were just getting started.
00:17- City of Vale under National Emergency
It wouldn't be long until all of Remnant heard the news of Vale's situation which led to massive panic from other kingdoms fearing that these creatures could be lurking around as well.
00:20- 20% of City of Vale's Population Disappeared
With more reports looming in of the attacks, many of the political figures around Remnant agreed to send troops in helping the City of Vale stop these creatures and evacuate as many people as possible. Only Menagerie stayed behind as they wished not to act.
00:22- Military Forces deployed for Vale
And even with its advanced technologies, dust, and the best troops. Nothing could stop or destroy the Weeping Angels. The skies became darker as the screaming from the people slowly began to fade away.
00:30- 45% of City of Vale's Population Disappeared
News Reporter: We cannot get close to Vale by orders of General Ironwood but by the looks of it, Vale has become a ghost town by the sudden invasion of statue like creatures. I...I can't even imagine how the world is reacting, how those who had loved ones here will be if they find out their loved one is still around or gone. I-It's just...simply horrifying. Vale has fallen to the Angels...oh my god...
00:31- Evacuations Deployed
00:35- 5% Evacuated; 50% of City of Vale's Population Disappeared
Ruby: They are everywhere Doctor! They managed to get almost everyone, and we don't know if there were any that successfully made it out from here.
The Doctor: How did I not fully scan the area to know there are tons of them here! No matter, we have to get back to the TARDIS ASAP! You'll be safe back there and we can take you back to Beacon.
Yang: Doctor...Vale is gone...
The Doctor: What do you mean?
Before the transmission was cut, Yang showed the Doctor a screen recording of what happened in Vale and both his hearts dropped. He has failed to prevent this, he failed once again, and it is showing. He goes down for a moment which worries the three girls.
The Doctor: I can fix it...
Blake: Can you actually? Please tell me you do.
The Doctor: I have the power of time itself in the TARDIS. I can open the vault and absorb all of the time vortex and become time itself. I can fix it and I will! I will set the time back before all of this even happened and then...
Blake: Then what...Doctor?
Ruby: Guys please...we need to-
The Doctor: I'll die...what I did to Weiss healing her leg, that was a small portion of regeneration. A special technique that causes my body to repair itself but...I'll regenerate into someone different. You won't see me again...not like this...this might be the last time...
Ruby: Doctor...
Yang: N-No!...
Blake: You...You can't!
Dalek Khan: ALERT! THE TARDIS IS UNDER ATTACK!
The Doctor: It has to be the Angels-...Weiss! COME ON! *Runs off*
The three girls looked at each other worried about Weiss meaning she's safe in the TARDIS but for how long if the Angels are attacking. And the sudden drop of information that their Doctor will die and someone new will come in made them sick to the stomach. They all soon followed the Time Lord. Back inside the TARDIS, Weiss tries to figure out how to stop the Angels from shaking it.
Weiss: There's got to be a way to push them away! Cmon girl, help me out!
The TARDIS responded by self-activating coordinates and begins to disappear which Weiss did not approve considering the others are still out there.
Weiss: NO! NOT THAT! WE HAVE TO GET THE OTHERS! TAKE ME BACK!
The TARDIS soon disappeared resulting in the Angels looking at each other and locked into eternal contact. The others continued running until they heard the TARDIS dematerialize and now all hope was beginning to fade.
Yang: D-Did it just leave...
Ruby: Doctor?
The Doctor: It did...and with the signals down...she can't pinpoint our location to rescue us...
Team RBY felt their hearts speed up as they began to slowly panic about not being able to escape the Angels. Weiss was gone with the TARDIS with no access to wherever it would land, they had to locate it and make a run for it. This frustrated the The Doctor and punched a wall which scared all three girls.
The Doctor: WHY! WHYYYYYY! WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE THIS? *Rubs my face* TAKE ME! END ME! LEAVE MY FRIENDS ALONE!
Ruby: NO DOCTOR!
Yang: DOCTOR STOP!
Blake: You are so so wrong! None of this is your fault! It all just happened. You couldn't do it on your own, that's too much for you! Doctor! Listen to- *GASP*
Everyone looked at Blake's direction not knowing why she gasped so loudly until they saw what was behind her and it shook everyone to the core. She was shaking like never before, pale, and tears ran out from her eyes as her cat ears felt who was behind her. She looked at the Doctor with tears and hope.
Blake: Prove them wrong. Prove the prophecies are false. Prove that YOU can beat them...and you will save us...Prove to them that you truly are The Doctor...It's not just a name...it's who you are...
Before he could reply, she disappeared into thin air as a Weeping Angel caught her leaving a distraught and broken pair of sisters.
Ruby and Yang: BLAKE! *cries*
He couldn't save her, he was right there in front of her, and he failed to save her. And now she's gone as Ruby lost a partner and close friend to her, but Yang was more devastated because she lost an important piece to her heart. Wasting no time, the Time Lord grabs both their hands and runs off as Khan blasts the top of the cave to fall on top of the Angel. Back inside the TARDIS, Weiss slowly got up as she didn't know where she was being taken. She would hear a flatline noise however and looked to see where it came from only to see a screen panel displaying her team's health and she saw Blake's health flatline which broke her.
Weiss: B...B-BLAKE?! NOOOOO!
She slams her hand on the control console and falls back onto the ground in tears. She had lost a friend, someone she regretted mistreating in the beginning only because she was a Faunus. She wanted to take every word and every action back. She was someone Weiss could rely on in difficult times and was there in battle always. She was kind, silly at times, and determined and now she's gone. She wiped her tears in frustration, pulled out Myrtenaster and looked at the control console of the TARDIS.
Weiss: STUPID MACHINE! If you can't help me, I'll have to do it on my own!
The remaining four continued running as the Time Lord Victorious continued to locate the TARDIS as it appears it's still around but finding their locations as well. They stopped for a bit as Ruby and Yang hugged each other heartbroken over the loss of their friend.
Yang: S-She can't...*sobs* She can't be dead...
The Time Lord could only look at the sisters who were emotionally traumatized and remember what Blake told him before she was taken by the Angel. It all went fast, and it was his fault. Suddenly, a hand was placed on his shoulder as the Doctor looked around to see a distraught Yang.
Yang: How do we win this...*sniffs* You save all of us...we lose you...you stop them...we lose everyone we know...we're going to lose...one way or another...
The Doctor: I have to do this...it'll cost me, but as long as all of you are safe and returned that matters to me most!
Yang: WE CAN'T LET YOU DIE! WHY ARE YOU SO EAGER TO KILL YOURSELF AND BECOME SOMEONE YOU ARE NOT! WHY? WHY? WHY?
The Doctor: *smiles softly* I have a duty of care.
More tears fell from both girls knowing this saying of The Doctor is his way of demonstrating his love and care for them. To them, he was the older brother of the group and they do not want him to go.
Ruby: *wipes tears* We must keep going or else they are going to find us again. That's how it got to Blake. We have to keep quiet.
Dalek Khan: Ruby is correct! We must search for the TARDIS while remaining silent.
The Doctor: Let's keep moving. The sooner we get to the TARDIS, we can end this nightmare for good. *looks at them softly* And whoever I become, you will all take turn at one knuckle sandwich.
Yang: Two and I will do my best to make the new Doctor remember everything.
00:50- 10% Evacuated; 80% of City of Vale's Population Disappeared
00:55- Evacuations Closed. Only 20% have been Evacuated.
News Reporter: We are now receiving reports of a planned bomb to be launched into the City of Vale in hopes of destroying these creatures... may the Brothers Gods help us all...
Every attempt to open the doors of the TARDIS with her weapon and glyphs but it was no use. The TARDIS was perhaps the hardest being to exist and the doors are made from wood for Pete's sake!
Weiss: DAMNIT YOU BITCH! JUST LET ME GO AND SAVE MY FRIENDS...I lost one...and more...I can't lose everyone...
The TARDIS picked up her determination and knew she would not stop especially losing the people she loved most. She felt that empty feeling as she remembered the terror of the Time War. But the thing is, there is a way to stop all of this and fix this mess, but Weiss is only human. But perhaps it was a sacrifice that needed to happen even if the Doctor would hate it.
Weiss: What's that? *Eyes widen* You have an idea!
Suddenly, a loud explosion is felt like a huge earthquake which startled Weiss. She tried looking through the screen panels but all she could see was dust and debris. It worried her because her team and the Doctor were still out there and so were the Angels. Her heart dropped when she heard another flatline and looked slowly at the screen. She let out a piercing scream before breaking down completely which the TARDIS felt and had enough of. It couldn't bear to see Weiss suffer more and the Doctor needed help. All it did was bring her memories when the Doctor saw Gallifrey die. She begins to aggressively move the control console on its own.
Weiss: S-SLOW DOWN?!
And so she did, the TARDIS stopped before opening a capsule for Weiss to look at. She expected perhaps a weapon, key, or some kind of future tech that could stop all this, but she saw nothing. But soon, she heard whispers from inside the heart of the TARDIS as she would be hit by a golden light causing her to pass out.
10 Minutes Before
It was a quiet trail as no one was speaking but kept their eyes around for any more Weeping Angels. The Time Lord was remembering his goal, his promise, his duty to make sure everyone would live. And he failed in the end knowing Vale was gone and he lost Blake. But the words stayed and knew he had one more chance to make it right.
Ruby: Khan...how is the trail we are taking?
Dalek Khan: There are no sights of Angels around the area we are going. We can pinpoint our location to the TARDIS from there and escape.
Yang: But...if the Doctor absorbs the time vortex, how are we going to escape?
The Doctor: I'll use it to send you guys back. Once everything is fixed, I'll return and return the time vortex back into the TARDIS. And once that is settled...I'll regenerate...
This was too much for both girls but mostly Yang. She couldn't get Blake off her head. All the memories she shared with her, that precious smile, and so much more before looking back at being killed. It hurt her so much because she, alongside her sister and Weiss, was her happiness. She loved her and she was dead all because of them. She wanted to kill the Angels but knew she would die as well. She didn't want to lose him either just to kill them all. Soon the lights within the trail began to flicker which meant one thing: The Angels.
Ruby: Khan?
Dalek Khan: They found us...
Yang: HOW?! Y-You just said the area was empty of these creatures.
The Doctor: Did you forget that these are the fastest creatures to ever exist! One moment you think you have found an escape and next thing you know; they are there!
Ruby: That explains the horde of them we encountered when Roger said he found an escape route.
The lights began to flicker more as the four began to run knowing they were approaching them. The lights went out completely and that meant bad news. They all stayed close to each other as they turned on once again to reveal Angels around them.
Dalek Khan: NO MORE! EXTERMINATE! *Blasts the Angels*
Dalek Khan had enough of running and began to destroy the Angels in the way as they continued to get closer to them. The Doctor used his Sonic Screwdriver to destroy a few as well before it suddenly went off. He looked to see a Weeping Angel had shut down his screwdriver temporarily. Khan kept exterminating a few Angels before one of them placed its hand on his blaster and broke it.
Dalek Khan: ALERT! ALERT! WEAPON IS DOWN! WEAPON IS DOWN!
Ruby: DOCTOR! WHAT DO WE DO!
He tried to think of another plan or another way out, but they were surrounded. He couldn't find the answer, he couldn't do anything. His hearts were beating beyond normal; they were all going to die, and it would be his fault.
Dalek Khan: RUN!
Yang: BUT HOW?! THEY'RE AROUND US!
Dalek Khan: Form a Circle and Escape. I will hold them down!
Ruby: WHAT?! YOU CAN'T! YOUR GUN IS BROKEN!
The Dalek stayed quiet, but the Time Lord knew what he meant and shook his head to disapprove of the plan.
The Doctor: Khan...Don't.
Dalek Khan: Let me do the right thing! Let me save my FRIENDS! I will exterminate myself and the Angels. You shall RUN!
Eyes widened from Yang and Ruby but Ruby was shedding tears at what she heard. She lost so many people, she just lost Blake, she was going to lose The Doctor, and now she was going to lose her Dalek best friend.
Ruby: NO! YOU CAN'T! I WON'T LET YOU!
Dalek Khan: It is the only way now Ruby. I wish I could say more but there is no time. I...am so glad...you were my friends. And you always will be. Ruby Rose...thank you for being my best friend.
Ruby: NO! KHAN! NO! LET ME GO! KHAN!
Yang held her tears as she kept staring the Angels while carrying Ruby as the Doctor as well kept looking at them but wished he could look at his Dalek friend and say his thoughts as well.
Dalek Khan: Thank you DOCTOR! For giving me LIFE! SELF DESTRUCT EXTERMINATION!
The armor proceeded in protocol as Khan began to levitate while the others began to run while Angels grew closer to Khan. He knew he could be a different Dalek than all of his kind and he knew he could with the Doctor and Team RWBY. In his very final moments as the countdown would soon reach zero, he remembered the good memories, the new life he began, and now he got to do what he promised: Protect the ones he cares for.
Dalek Khan: I. AM. A. GOOD. DALEK. REBORN! EXTERMINATE!
A powerful explosion came out destroying Dalek Khan and all the Weeping Angels around him as well as other Angels in the area. The trio kept running as the explosion continued reaching them before they could find a different exit and ran through there as the fire passed by. Only smoke and debris from the explosion was all that could be seen. Unable to see anything, all that could be heard was the coughs from Yang and the Doctor and sobs from Ruby over the death of Dalek Khan. They all felt the pain, they all did not want him to sacrifice himself, and now the burden and guilt weighed more on the time lord because he's lost Blake and now his Dalek companion. The stakes were higher and his motivation to retrieve the time vortex was higher now. To bring them back, to bring his family back together.
FLASHBACK
The Doctor: Alright Khan, scan your armor and see how good it is now?
Dalek Khan: ARMOR RESET AT 100% WEAPON RESET AT 85%
The Doctor: *sighs* Figures. Unfortunately, I couldn't do much to repair your weapon at 100%. It's still good to go but there will be times it won't work.
Dalek Khan: ACCEPTABLE! I will still do my very best to protect the Doctor and the lives of this universe.
The Doctor: No more exterminating us then?
Dalek Khan: NEGATIVE! You have been teaching me how LIFE feels! I will do my best to enjoy it and make a promise to protect you all.
The Doctor: You really are a Good Dalek. *smiles*
Dalek Khan: I AM NOT A GOOD DALEK! I AM A DALEK REBORN!
FLASHBACK ENDS
The Doctor: I'm sorry Khan...I am so sorry... *tears fall*
Ruby: W-We could've done something else...we could have done something to prevent him from doing that...*sobs more*
Yang: There was no other way...he told us to run, and we must continue to do so. He wouldn't want us to just stay and cry for him...like Blake...
The Doctor: You are right...for them...
Yang: *sighs* We have to keep going. It won't be long til they catch up with us.
The Time Lord wiped his tears and was about to walk until he saw a shadow behind Yang as the smoke began to clear out. His eyes widened as he felt time go slow and tries to reach to her and push her out of the way.
The Doctor: YANG! *Reaches out to her*
He wanted to go faster but instead he felt slower and felt like he kept screaming out Yang's name. She looked at him and observed his reaction, knowing what was about to happen. She looked down at her little sister and tried to give her a comforting smile letting tears fall out. Ruby felt her world crumbling and tried to reach out to Yang but she also felt she was too slow to save her.
Yang: You got this Doctor! Kick their ass for me!
Ruby: YANG!
Yang: *smiles softly* I love you...my little sister. Always.
And gone into thin air she was. Yang was killed by a Weeping Angel nearby as Ruby stayed in a state of shock while the Time Lord failed once again to save his friend. He looked into the eyes of the Angels as Ruby remained frozen. He had to get her out of it and have her run.
The Doctor: Ruby...I need you to run. W-We can still find a way to bring her back...but I need you to get up and run. CMON RUBY!
Tears fell from eyes while remaining in the same state before her silver eyes began to glow. She ignored the shouts of the time lord as she let out a loud, piercing scream as everything turns white completely. The Time lord couldn't see anything or hear anything besides the echoing screams before it all went silent and the white flash was gone. He looked again, only to see nothing but him and the Weeping Angel. Ruby is gone.
The Doctor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHH! NO! NO! RUBY!
They're all dead. Ruby, Blake, Yang, and Dalek Khan like the rest of Vale were all killed by the Weeping Angels, and he couldn't do anything anymore. He lost and it was his fault they were all killed. Falling to his knees, the lights flickered as more Weeping Angels began to appear and approach him. It was exactly like the Time War all over again, witnessing his parents die, his people die, and he couldn't do anything about it. Now it was Vale that was gone and so was his new family. They approached him and the Angels reached out with the voices of his fallen friends.
Weeping Angel (Ruby): You failed to save them. You could not stop us and now this place is our territory.
Weeping Angel (Blake): Their confidence in you was their weakest point. To think you truly thought you had a chance.
The Doctor: You are right... I couldn't stop you...and you killed my friends...
Weeping Angel (Yang): You will die with them as well. Better yet, become one of us as the punishment you shall receive TIME LORD!
The Doctor: I'm nobody...I'm just a lost boy with no way of surviving or protecting people...
Weeping Angel (Ruby): How can you save these beings when you couldn't save the closest ones to you.
He did not reply back and was ready to accept his fate, his death. He hoped that whatever happens to him or whether he will see everyone again or not; That they would forgive him. He heard many planes from above and knew at any moment they were going to drop the bombs and destroy the entire City of Vale.
The Doctor: Team RBY...Weiss...Khan...Mom...Dad...Doctor...Please forgive me...
As the Angels were about to finish him off, they all heard a familiar mechanical noise as the Time Lord looked behind him to see the TARDIS materializing and the door opens to reveal a bright light shining the area as golden traces warped in front of him to reveal Weiss with her eyes glowing gold. His eyes widened at this, knowing what she did. She snapped her fingers, and the world of Remnant completely froze. The bombs were already about to land until she froze time in Remnant.
The Doctor: Weiss! Y-You didn't-
Weiss: The TARDIS let me look into her heart and I have absorbed all the time vortex into me. I am now holding the power of time itself.
The Doctor: WHY?! No human can look inside the time vortex, it'll kill you! Your head will burn with all that power inside of you!
Weiss: I want you safe. We both do. My Doctor. Protected from the unwelcomed aliens.
Weeping Angel (Blake): You cannot hurt us!
Weeping Angel (Ruby): We are indestructible.
Weiss: You are nothing. I can see everything in time and space. Every single atom of your existence, and I shall divide them. Send you back where you belong.
Weiss released a huge pulse of energy vaporizing all of the Weeping Angels in seconds from Mountain Glenn and all of Vale. The Time Lord knew this is too much power for her and it has to be stopped before she dies. He does not want to lose the only person he has left in his life.
Weiss: Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies in the end. But not today.
