Buck took it upon him self to teach Charlie self defense. Bravo team's leader Ray said they could go to the range on Friday if they weren't called on a mission. All week Buck did PT with Charlie and then taught her combat. Steve was called on a mission, and would be gone for the rest of the week. Natasha and Clint were still away. Agent said they would be back next weekend. Charlie had fun, she would get ready, go with Bravo to do PT and they would go with her down and do combat training. She got to know the team better, there wasn't many of them that didn't come from some kind of military background. Even Buck cam from the Air force. It was very interesting listening to each guys stories. There was 15 members including their leader. Steve mentioned that he helped out every now and then, or if they needed extra cover that Clint would come in and help.
Buck got to Captain in the United States Air Force before getting on Shield radar and recruited him. He didn't talk about his family much, just he had two younger sisters and their mom. "Team Alpha has the combat floor today, but if you wanted we could still go down. See what they are doing and either join or watch and wait till they are done." They had just finished PT, and Buck was telling her that Alpha was going on a mission soon so had to get in a few more training times in before they leave.
"I don't mind sitting and watching. Maybe learn a thing or two. I've only meet Bravo and Delta team, you want to fill me in on the Alpha team." After showers they were on their way down while Buck told her about Rumlow and his team. Rumlow was their leader, they did more of the harsher, rougher missions. They were in other words brutes. Alpha was a team of 25 men. They had the most missions, but Buck made it seem like they were favored.
"Bravo team has a night parachute drop in two days. Do you know what that is? If you like I could see if Ray would be ok with you joining." Each team does one parachute drop each year. They get taken up in one of the jets and they all jump out. Shield will have flares on the ground set up so you know where to land. When they go on missions, Shield has their own planes and jets to take their teams where they have to go, and some times they need to be dropped in, or if something happens they need to be able to leave the jet at any time, no matter where they are.
"Well who is this?" A tall muscled man walked over to them and started looking Charlie up and down. You could tell on his face that he liked what he saw. "Hello my names Brock Rumlow. Are you a new recite or are you looking to get your ass beat. Shouldn't you be up in the office at a desk. You seem too pretty to be Strike." Charlie rolled her eyes at him. Just because she was short and blonde didn't mean she couldn't do the things that they do. Of course he's one of those guys.
"I'm not as pretty as you think I am, you on the other hand. Maybe me and you should switch jobs, you take mine at the desk and I can have yours as a leader." She looked around at Alpha team they all started laughing. "I'm only here training. I was training with Steve but he was sent on a mission so Bravo team took me in." She didn't care much for men like Rumlow, those that thought women couldn't fight and should be in the kitchen.
"What could you possible be training for? Your training with Steve, as in Steve Rogers. How did that happen?"
"Your pretty impressed now, aren't you. Me some short little city girl training with Captain America. What does it matter what I'm training for. All thought if you thought that was impressive just wait till you see me on the range. I may not be able to kick your ass but on the range I could." A couple guys were boxing, but the rest were just standing around talking, some you could tell had their ear to us, still listening. "I hear leaders aren't that good with a gun, so maybe it should be one of your strike boys that I go up against."
"Geez she's a cocky one. We are leaving on a mission soon maybe if your still cocky when we get back I'll take you up on that challenge."
"Are Alpha team done yet, because you can leave now. The real men need to work out." Charlie said as she nodded to the rest of the team. Buck was loving this. He didn't get to see many people stand up to Rumlow like that. He covered his mouth so he wouldn't laugh at them. Alpha team started to pack up as Bravo started to set up so they could do hand to hand. Charlie and Buck started first. Charlie really needed to put on some muscle. She was going to have to go home after this and start working out on a plan. Maybe she could see if Jarvis could help.
Charlie was back at the tower. It was the next morning and she had a note book set up and talking with Jarvis about a plan for working out and a meal plan. She really couldn't keep up with Buck and the rest of Bravo, she could still hear Rumlow laughing after being thrown down a fourth time. She was up in her kitchen looking at the stuff in her fridge.
It wasn't going to be an easy change. She liked eating meat, but the new meal plan had it so she gaining more calories, which meant more meat. She was going to have to hit the gym and mats almost every day. Hopefully Buck won't mind helping out. He has been so far, she didn't think he would mind helping more.
"Jarvis are you able to order the food I have written down, and send it to the tower. Maybe we should do the same kind of plans for everyone that is in the tower as well, especially Tony. He's going to have to change how he runs himself. Hopefully with me here he can start eating more, I haven't seen him eat more then once a day."
"Yes I've put the order in already, and it will be here in a couple hours. If you can work that miracle I will be impressed. Believe me, me and Pepper have been trying to get him to work out an eating plan for years. I have added a few things I know Mr. Stark likes, and is willing to eat."
"I will make something right now and then I'll bring to him myself and stay till he is done. Do you know if he has given me access to his lab? Or are you able to give me access?" She got up and started to make pancakes and bacon for both her and Tony. She couldn't wait for the others to come back. Every time she made anything she always over estimated how much to make.
"The code for the access system is 6370. I've ready put in your face recognition so just put the code in and you will be allowed to enter. Any time that Tony changes it I will send the code to you phone. He tends to change it when I allow someone he doesn't want in, so be prepared to get a text pretty much everyday."
After a 'thank you' to Jarvis, she put the food in a container and went over to the elevator so she could go down to the labs. She had never been down to the labs yet. She wasn't sure what she was expecting. She thought there would be tables and desks filled with science equipment and papers, but when she got through the doors it was nothing but chaos. There were a few desks but it was mostly counters, and tables with computers and screens. It was like a mix of a science lab and garage. There were a bunch of fancy cars along the far wall. The other wall had a couch with a tv, blankets and pillows were on the couch and it looked like someone was asleep on it.
"Jarvis how long has he been sleeping? How does he react to being awaken?" She walked over to a table close by the couch and started taking out the food.
"He was sleeping for only about 10 minutes, but the smell of food is a good way to wake me up." She didn't mean to wake him but it was a good thing she didn't have to go over and shake him awake.
"Sir has only been sleeping in ten minutes intervals every couple hours." Jarvis chimed in.
"Tony come over and eat then I'll lecture you on your sleeping and eating habits." They sat and ate their food in quiet. There some was kind of rock music on in the back, but Charlie didn't know what it was. "I'm trying to get in better shape and looking at putting on some muscle. So I worked out a workout and meal plan. Also I worked with Jarvis about doing a meal plan for you as well, but it looks like we will have to work out a sleep schedule. I will be going in to shield and doing PT with Bravo team when they are in or with Steve. Other then that I will be at the tower helping you.
"Oh joy just what I need in the my own home. I already have Jarvis mothering me I really don't need you too. I'll be changing the code for the access system." They sat and bickered about Tony eating for a bit longer till they hear Jarvis tell Charlie that Agent wanted to see her. She said her goodbyes and left to go to Shield.
She was made to sit outside of Agents office, but it didn't take long. Ray, Bravo's leader, walked out of his office, he looked at her and walked down the hall. Agent waved her in.
"I hear from Ray you have been fitting in around here, especially with Bravo team. Were you thinking of joining a strike team? What are your thoughts on the teams?" Agent was sitting behind a desk with a bunch of papers and pens everywhere. He didn't seem to be very organized.
"I've been having a lot of fun doing PT and working out with Steve and Bravo team. I hadn't had the chance to meet any other team but for Rumlow. Who I must say I wasn't to fond of, so if I was to join and put with them I would think it was because I was being punished. I hadn't thought of joining though." She didn't think she could be much of an assets to Shield. What could she bring to them? What good is she?
"Steve, Ray and I think it would be a good idea. Though you will need to up your training. I hear you will be joining Bravo on the range in a few days. Show them what you got. I have some paper work for you to read over and fill out. Its quite extensive, but if you need any help understanding anything or have questions just come to me. I heard the rest of the story that you didn't tell me about the accident you had. Why did you feel it necessary to keep out that you had powers? Though I do remember when we first met that you said there was a time after the accident that you were in the car and no one could see you."
"I'm not sure what you mean Agent. I don't have powers? Where did you hear this?" She didn't tell many people about the ice and what happened. Who would have told any him.
"Tony has a lot of connection with a school called "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters" and has seen many people show off some really unbelievable abilities. Shield has a couple member that show these kind of abilities. He called me and told me about what happened. We both wanted to know why you didn't say anything."
"I'm sorry Sir, but I have no idea what you mean. I know when me and Clint were talking he mentioned something about powers, but I don't have powers. I have no idea why no one could see me or why there was ice in the car. I've never shown powers before, I haven't shown powers now so I don't understand what you are getting at." She hadn't thought back to her conversation with Clint about what happened in the accident. If she had powers wouldn't she know? Wouldn't she have been showing powers all her life? Wouldn't someone in her family know or have powers as well.
"We have a couple members in Shield that have powers, we called them Enhanced. Maybe we could introduce you to them and we can figure out what happened. For now we will put it on the back burner. I would like you to read over these, once you are done you can sign them and bring them back to me. As I said before if you have any question you can ask before you sign."
She took the file and went back to the tower to think over everything Agent just told her.
