Daniel stood in the doorway of the small office watching Sha're as she studied. She had three textbooks open across the desk with bits of paper surrounding her as well as a large notepad covered in notes. She had an exam in a few days that would give her enough credits to finish high school, so had been working hard to ensure she passed, Daniel and Cassandra had had to quiz her so often the past few weeks, he was sure they could pass it as well.
Coughing to let her know she was there; Daniel placed the tray he'd brought on top of the bookshelf.
"I thought you could use some lunch," he told her, placing a plate with a sandwich in front of her, "Since you missed it."
Confusion covered Sha're's face, "But we are not meeting for another…" she trailed off as she looked at the clock seeing it was a lot later than she had realised.
"You're busy," he placed the tea beside her before placing his own plate and mug on the table pulling a chair up beside her, "So lunch came to you."
The smile that touched her lips made Daniel remember why he fell in love with her, because just that smile filled his entire world with sunshine.
"I knew I married you for a reason," she breathed, leaning in and pressing a kiss to his lips.
Daniel grinned, watching her eat as she realised how hungry she was.
"So, how are you doing?" Daniel asked as he drank his coffee.
Sha're sighed, "I think I have gone over everything but…" she trailed off and closed her eyes.
"Headache?" Daniel asked.
"A little," she told him, "I have been reading a lot today."
Daniel moved and pulled her chair away from the desk, he leaned against the desk and turned her chair, so the back of her head was resting against his stomach.
"Close your eyes," he told her.
"I have to work," Sha're reminded him.
Daniel chuckled, "You're taking a small break. Now close your eyes."
With a slight annoyed moan, Sha're followed his instructions and let out a sigh as Daniel gently massaged her temples before giving her a neck and shoulder massage.
Dropping a kiss on his wife's hair when he finished, Daniel whispered, "Feeling better?"
"Much," she told him, "Thank you."
"Anything for you," Daniel reminded her.
Sha're let out a sigh, "I should get back to work."
"Why don't you take a proper break and go out for a walk?" Daniel suggested, "I have to go to a meeting otherwise I would join you, but you need some fresh air."
Nodding Sha're kissed him, "If it will stop you worrying about me I will but," she stopped him saying anything else, "I still need to study. My exam is in two days."
"Okay," he replied before smiling, "You know I'm so proud of you."
She stepped into his arms, and closed her eyes as Daniel held her tightly, "I remember when we came here, and I was so sure I would never fit in." She looked up at him, "And now…"
"Now, you're proving what I've always known," Daniel told her, "That you are amazing."
"Sweet words, my husband."
"True words, my wife."
Daniel found Sha're in the small office still studying, making him frown. Her exam was tomorrow, and she needed to relax for a bit, but he knew he couldn't make her. Especially considering he was about to leave the planet.
"Sha're," he called, getting her attention, "I'm heading on a mission."
"I did not realise you had one scheduled," she frowned.
He shook his head, "We didn't but we received a call from Cimmeria. The planet which held the device that destroyed the Gould. We're going to check in on them."
"When?"
"Less than an hour," he told her, "I'm sorry I might not be here for you before your exam."
Sha're hugged him, "It is fine, my love. Janet will collect Cassie with me then we will have dinner together. You don't have to worry."
Daniel nodded before asking, "And the other thing?"
"Once my exam is over, I will take that test," she replied softly.
"I have to go," Daniel kissed her, "You will do amazing, and will ace your exam. I know it."
Kissing her again, Daniel slipped away trying to focus on the mission and not his wife or the tests she needed to take.

Sha're chewed on her lower lip as she thought about the final question. It was still a strange concept to her to be able to learn so openly and to take tests to prove that knowledge was something she never dreamed of as a child.
Now though the test she was taking today would give her the final credits to finish what Daniel called high school and allow her to move on to her pre-medical college courses.
She was doing her best to ignore, while taking her test, that she was almost a full week late and trying not to get her hopes up. Especially as there had been a several times over the past few years she'd thought that she was pregnant, and it had turned out to be a false alarm.
It wasn't that she didn't love Cassie, Sha're loved the girl with her whole heart and if anyone tried to claim that Cassie wasn't her child, Sha're would correct them in the two languages she spoke, but she wanted Daniel's baby, wanted to carry the child of her love. She couldn't understand why it hadn't happened for them, when she and Daniel were so enthusiastic in trying to make one from the day they'd married.
Finishing the question, she took a quick look over her paper before closing it and looking up to see the time, saw the clock announce the end of the test. She heard groans of annoyance surrounding her, relieved she had managed to answer all the questions. Passing her paper to the invigilator, Sha're pulled her things together and put them in her bag. Sitting in it was a pregnancy test that she had bought to take now.
"How did you do?" Christine appeared at her side as they left the hall, "I'm sure I missed half the information I should have put in several answers."
Sha're grimaced, "I answered all the questions, which Dan'iel always says is half the battle."
"Well, your husband is a genius," Christine rolled her eyes, "With several degrees."
"And a wonderful smile," Sha're said, making her friend laugh, "I know you will have done well. We both studied hard for this."
"Do you have time for lunch?" Christine asked.
Checking her watch, Sha're shook her head, "I have to pick Cassie up, but we will have lunch soon."
Christine gave her friend a quick hug, "I'll call you."
As Christine left to head home, Sha're made her way to the restrooms. She wanted to take the pregnancy test before she headed to the Siler's home to pick up her daughter.

Daniel was exhausted. It had been a long day, even with an amazing experience of meeting the Asgard but that couldn't quite remove the exhaustion after the run ins with Heru-Ur's Jaffa. Making their farewells to Gairwyn, Daniel stepped through the Stargate and sighed in relief to be home.
Handing his pack and weapon across, Daniel followed the team to the infirmary for the obligatory medical. Taking a seat on the bed between Jack and Sam, Daniel checked his watch to see what time it was and realised Sha're would have finished her exam.
And he hoped by now she would have taken the other test.
They'd been trying to get pregnant for a long time and every so often there was hope before it would be just a false alarm. Daniel hated seeing the sadness in Sha're's eyes each time she told him she wasn't pregnant. But this time, Sha're was a week late. Much longer than any of the other times they thought she was pregnant.
As soon as their medical was finished, Daniel headed to the conference room to give their report to Hammond. As he listened to Jack make his report, Daniel's mind wandered to Sha're. He knew he shouldn't, but he couldn't stop picturing her pregnant, glowing and happy before thinking about her holding their baby while Cassie wore the 'Best Big Sister' t-shirt he'd saw when they were at the mall at the weekend.
"Anything to add, Dr Jackson?" Hammond's voice intruded into his thoughts.
"Not much," Daniel noted, "The Asgard did not seem happy with us, considering it was our fault Heru-Ur could invade, but I think we also intrigued them."
Hammond nodded, "Thank you, SG1. You have a mission scheduled to P2X C11 in six days. We will debrief at 08:00 that morning. Dismissed."
Heading to his office, Daniel found Jack walking at his side.
"Something I can do for you?" Daniel asked.
"Wanted to know what you were thinking about during the debriefing," Jack told him, "And so impressed how you still managed to answer Hammond's question."
Daniel rolled his eyes, "Just wondering how Sha're did. She should have finished her exam by now."
Jack smiled, "It's impressive how fast she got through school."
Pride filled Daniel's smile, "From the moment we met I knew she was smart. This just proved it."
Jack laughed, clapping Daniel on the shoulder and leaving him as they reached Daniel's office. Sha're was going to pick Cassie up and bring her to the base, she could see Sam while they found out if their family was growing.
Shaking himself, Daniel pulled over the file from SG4's latest mission and started working.

Sha're smiled as she watched Cassie hug Sam the moment they entered the other woman's office.
"Do you want to have lunch with us?" Sam asked as she shut down her computer.
Sha're shook her head, "I am going to meet Dan'iel for lunch. Another time."
Cassie beamed at her and took Sam's hand, telling her all about her week and the fun she'd had that morning. With a deep breath, Sha're headed to her husband's office smiling as she found him engrossed in whatever discovery one of the teams had made. She loved watching him work, seeing the way he soaked in information and put it together in his mind like no one else could.
Finally, she stepped inside and touched his shoulder. He jumped round and looked at her expectantly.
"How was the test?" he asked.
She shrugged slightly, "I answered all the questions, so we will see."
"And," he licked his lips, "The other test?"
Sha're sniffed, "I didn't take it, my bleeding started."
Daniel opened his arms and wrapped her in them, holding her tightly, "I'm sorry, honey. I thought finally we were there."
"I think it was the stress of studying that threw my cycle off," she whispered, burying into his chest.
Daniel simply held her as she cried, finally able to as she hadn't been able to let herself until after she had picked up Cassie and ensured she was happy with Sam. Sha're felt her husband slide his hand through her hair while his other hand rubbed her back. Knowing he could say nothing at that moment to make her feel better, Daniel simply held her.
"Hey," he finally pushed her back and wiped her tears, showing her that he'd cried as well, "You need to eat something."
"I do not want…"
"Why don't I," he cut her off, "Go get something for us and we can eat here. Then if you want, we can go home."
She nodded, trying not to cry again.
"We'll get our baby one day," Daniel told her, "And if we don't, then we have Cassie who is our daughter already. We could adopt another child."
"I know," she sighed, "But I have been told all my life that I should bear my husband's child and since we met, I have dreamed of carrying your baby. It is just hard to accept I'm barren."
Daniel hugged her, "It doesn't mean that. Sometimes it just takes time, it could be bad timing, or it could be me."
Sha're sniffed again, trying to stop the tears threatening her.
"How about we talk to Janet and see if there are some tests that she can either do or recommend?" Daniel suggested.
She nodded, relieved that her husband was not like any of the men on Abydos because she knew they would have decided their lack of child was her fault alone.
Sha're had been concerned when Daniel had called her to tell her he was locked in the base, due to something they had brought back from one of their missions. He had not even been home as he and Sam wanted to study the device as much as possible before they went on their mission the next morning.
"Are you alright?" Sha're asked her husband when he called her several hours after she'd received the initial call about the lockdown.
"I am," he assured her, "But Jack…" he let out a long sigh, "The device we brought back has him pinned to the wall of the Gateroom and the base has been infected by some kind of alien organism."
Sha're had no idea what to say, finally stating, "Are you…"
"I'm fine," he reassured her, "Janet has given us some antibiotics to help ensure we don't get sick but," he sighed, "I don't know when I'll be home."
Sha're sighed, she hated not being on the base when things like this happened but since she wasn't all she could do was wait.
"You don't have to worry about us," Sha're assured him, "Cassie and I will be here when you come home."
"Love you," Daniel whispered.
"I love you too."
Hanging up, Sha're sighed worried for her husband and the people they called friend.
Shaking herself, Sha're headed to make dinner for her and her daughter. Cassie was finishing her homework just now; it was one rule Daniel insisted on that homework was done as soon as school was over so she could then have the rest of the night free.
Sha're always did her best to do her homework at the same time, just so that Cassie could see that she wasn't the only one following the rule.
But at the moment her studies were on hold while she waited for her test results. Although she was reading things for fun, she was not studying at the moment which meant she had been trying things in the kitchen. Cooking on Abydos was so different from cooking here and she had so much fun learning new meals as well as trying to recreate the things she loved to eat back on her home.
Her greatest success was recreating honeycakes, one of her mother's specialities and something Daniel had loved to eat during their year there.
x
"Sha're?" Daniel called as he walked into the house, letting out a slight oomph as his wife threw herself into his arms, "I'm okay."
"And Jack?" she asked.
"Is looking forward to having dinner," the man in question said as he walked in the door behind Daniel.
Frowning at her husband for not warning her, Sha're moved and hugged the other man, "Are you alright?"
Jack hugged her quickly, "I'm fine."
"I invited Jack to join us for dinner," Daniel told her.
Sha're smiled, "Well, it is a good thing I have been cooking today. And there is plenty for us all."
"Uncle Jack!" Cassie cried appearing in the kitchen.
Jack grinned and caught the girl in a tight hug, "There's my favourite girl," he glanced back to the Abydonian woman, "No offence, Sha're."
She chuckled, "None is taken. Cassie, why don't you take Jack to the living room to get settled and tell him what you've been doing at school?"
Cassie beamed and dragged Jack away talking away.
The moment she was sure her daughter and their friend were out of hearing range, Sha're turned to Daniel.
"It's been a bad day," Daniel told her, "I would have warned you, but I only managed to talk him in to coming for dinner in the car."
Sha're hugged him, "It is fine, my love. Jack is always welcome here."
He kissed her softly, "Do you need some help with dinner?"
"You get Jack a drink," Sha're told him, "I will fix our meal."
x
Jack smiled to himself as he listened to the chatter around the Jackson's table during their meal. Sha're had made an amazing meal, which amused him considering the first few times she'd cooked on Earth had not been good. There had almost been a need for the fire brigade one time, but she soon learned how to use the cooker properly and discovered recipe books.
He envied Daniel sometimes, with his wife and Cassie, but was happy to spend time with the family as he was always included as part of it.
Being pinned to the wall of the Gateroom, then being taken over by the alien had left him twitchy and eager to get home. Janet had wanted him to rest in the infirmary but gave in to him whining that she sent him home forbidding him from driving. Daniel had volunteered to drive him, which meant his friend then badgered Jack into joining them for dinner.
As reluctant has he had been, seeing Cassie especially made him smile and he enjoyed spending time with the little girl.
After dinner, they sat talking in the living room. Sha're curled on the couch held by Daniel who was absently stroking her arm. A few hours later, Cassie went to bed, giving Jack another hug. A few minutes later Daniel headed up to read her a story, it was part of their ritual whenever Daniel was home, and Jack ensured he didn't interfere with that.
"You know I should head home myself," Jack said to Sha're, "Get some rest after…everything."
"Then you should stay here," Sha're told him, "We have a spare room, and it means you will not be alone if you feel unwell."
"I…"
"Dan'iel will worry less," Sha're continued ignoring him, "And not appear at your door early tomorrow morning."
Jack grimaced but knew he had no argument he could use against Sha're, suddenly realising that was why Daniel had left them alone. Damn them.
"Fine," he grimaced, "But I expect my favourite breakfast tomorrow morning."
Laughing lightly, Sha're smiled, "Of course. I would never disrespect my houseguest by not feeding him his favourites."
Shaking his head, Jack rolled his eyes, "You are…" he hesitated before finishing, "A gracious host."
Sha're laughed, "You had a hard day, Jack. Let us ensure you are well."
x
Daniel smiled as he watched Sha're finished brushing her hair out before she climbed into bed beside him.
"Thanks for persuading Jack to stay," Daniel murmured, pulling her close to him.
Cuddling into her husband, Sha're replied, "He is family and needs someone to care for him just now. I remember how he looked after you when you were ill, and how he cared for me at the same time."
Placing a soft kiss on her forehead, Daniel murmured, "It's so strange when I remember what Jack was like when we first met. Now he is one of my closest friends, and our daughter calls him Uncle Jack."
"And all future children will as well," Sha're reminded him, "Which means…"
Daniel grinned and kissed her, pulling her closer as they tried once more to make a baby.
