Chapter 13 – The Girl From Another World
Misao's POV
"Wait…Crystal Shard? As in the things you had to collect in Hoshi no Kābī 64? You're telling me that those things are REAL?"
"From the looks of it…they are." Ayano said before looking back at Suīto Amitī. "Ain't that right?"
"*sigh* Yeah…they're real." Suīto Amitī replied. "And the one you're holding is a special gift given to me by a very special friend. So, I can please have it back now?"
"Fine, fine. I'd rather not have this thing do anything weird while I'm holding it. They're unpredictable as hell."
"W-Wait…how are you so knowledgeable about Crystal Shards, Ayano?" I asked in total confusion. "And how does this make ANY sense to you?"
"You're not the only one with a weird-as-hell hobby, Misao. I've been researching into these things since last year."
"Wh-Why?"
"Well…it was originally meant to help Ayano control her Violet Soul Curse. Mainly to suppress the aura the amethyst crystal was spewing from her body. But after a while, I started gaining an interest in them myself. And began doing research to see if I could benefit from such a mysterious crystal."
…
"Of course…I never got far with it." Ayano then gained a disgruntled look. "Not like a Crystal Shard was easy to find in the first place. Especially in this world."
"Uh…they're from a video game. They SHOULDN'T be easy to find." I said with a sweatdrop.
"Which begs the question of how do YOU have one." Ayano then asked Suīto Amitī.
"I already told you. It was a gift from a special friend."
"Oh, really? And who's this "special friend"? The Legendary Star Warrior, himself?"
"W-Well…yeah."
…
"Wh-What?" Ayano and I asked in disbelief. We were honestly thinking that she was just screwing with us so that she could leave already.
But…
"That "special friend" that gave me this Crystal Shard…it's Kirby."
…
…
…
"Wha…WH-WHAAAT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Y-You're saying that Kirby is REAL?!"
"M-Misao! Keep it down! People will hear you!" Ayano yelled at me.
"B-But did you hear what she just SAID?! Who wouldn't freak out after hearing something like that?!"
"I'm surprised you two are quick to believe me." Suīto Amitī said.
"Well…we've seen and experienced some pretty insane stuff in our lives." Ayano said. "Hearing that Kirby is real isn't all that shocking."
"Uh…maybe to you, Ayano." I said. "But this is a logic-shattering moment for me! If Kirby is real…then what are the chances of OTHER fictional characters being real?! Mario! Sonic! And quite possibly even…SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!"
"Yeah, I highly doubt Spongebob can be real…" Ayano gained a huge sweatdrop.
"*sigh* This was supposed to be my last performance as Suīto Amitī…but yet here I am spilling my secrets to two people I don't even know. I'm really gonna get it when I get home…"
"Well, if it makes you feel any better…my name's Ayano Minegishi. Third-year student of Ryōō High School."
"And I'm Misao Kusakabe. Also a third-year student of Ryōō High School." I added.
"It doesn't exactly make me feel better…" Suīto Amitī gained a sweatdrop. "…But my name's Amitie Rose. As to where I'm from…let's just say I'm not from Japan."
"Well, yeah. Obviously. With the fact that you have a Crystal Shard, of all things, you might as well be from another world."
"Hehhehheh…y-yeah, I guess…" Amitie gave off a dry nervous response.
Why do I feel like she actually is from another world?
"So, how come you're stopping being Suīto Amitī, uh…Amitie?" I asked.
"Well…I'm not stopping the whole "Suīto Amitī" thing as a whole. Just the performances. They're starting to tire me out…even with this Crystal Shard around my neck."
"You mean it's a career?" Ayano asked.
"M-More-so a hobby. It started with me doing this thing called a "Livestream" with my friend Rin…I did it while dressed like this and added a personality to it…and people seemed to like it. Some more than others, as I've noticed recently."
"Yeah…some people take their fandoms just a bit too far."
"A bit? I said with an exasperated sweatdrop. Knowing good and hell well that it's more than "just a bit".
"And so, it led to me doing these live-performances for extra money…and now, I'm just worn out. I'll probably just keep this persona on those livestreams with my friend. After a well-deserved break. Haaah~…" Amitie then collapsed on the bench behind her as we were all currently waiting for the next bus.
Damn…she looks exhausted as hell. I would offer to help support her while we took her home, but…she wasn't exactly clear about where she lives.
…
Although, at this point…I can probably assume that it's nowhere in Japan…
"Ah. Misao-senpai. Ayano-senpai."
"Rui?" I said in shock after seeing the lone pale brown-haired first-year walking up to us. "Wow…what a surprise running into you here."
"Wh-Why is she wearing a Shy Guy mask?" Amitie asked with a pale look on her face.
"R-Rui-san's a very shy person." Ayano said. "The Shy Guy mask helps her calm down and makes talking to other people easier. Otherwise, she would be a nervous wreck."
"I see…I actually have a friend who was like that once. Though, it wasn't a mask that changed her personality and more-so a fight to the death with an evil clone. And also Mario Kart."
"M-Mario Kart?" The three of us gained huge sweatdrops from that last tidbit.
I know video games can help people cope with their feelings…but I don't think Mario Kart can be one of them…
"A-Anyway…" Ayano continued the conversation. "…What brings you out this late at night, Rui-san?"
"Ah…well…I was actually coming back from shopping at a nearby store. There was this figuring on sale and I had managed to get the last one." Rui then dug into the shopping bag and took out the figurine in question.
And once it was fully revealed…
"GAAAAAAH! Get really real~…that's the limited edition Sparkling Rainbow Erica-chan figurine! I've been saving up for MONTHS trying to get that!"
"A-Are you serious?! THAT'S why you started doing these Suīto Amitī performances?!" Ayano yelled at Amitie.
"H-Hey, I didn't have a choice! Primp Town doesn't use this world's currency and coming over here isn't a simple thing to do!" Amitie then quickly covered her mouth after realizing what she had just said.
"Primp Town?"
"This world?"
"Aw, crap…"
But by that time, it was already too late.
"Okay…this has gone far enough." I said as I stepped in between the confused Ayano and Rui. "Why don't you start being honest about where you're REALLY from, Amitie? It's pretty obvious that you're not from this world."
…
…
…
"*sigh* Fine." Amitie gave in. "The truth is…I'm from Primp Town. A completely different world."
"W-Woah…" Rui said in amazement.
"You knew about this, Misao?" Ayano asked me.
"Well, I wouldn't say "knew about it". But the pieces were slowly coming together. The magic powers from before, admitting that Kirby is real, the fact that she has a Crystal Shard with her…"
"A-A Crystal Shard? From Hoshi no Kābī 64? A-AND KIRBY IS REAL?!" Rui asked in complete shock.
"Y-You're just making it worse for me, Misao!" Amitie yelled.
"Hehhehheh…whoops…" I replied while rubbing the back of my head.
"So, if you're from a different world, Amitie…how did you get here?" Ayano asked.
"Well, not that many people know about this…and I really want it to stay that way…but every month, there's a lunar eclipse that connects this world and my world and allows us to travel between them. But it's only open for 7 ½ minutes, only buses can go through it, and it's only in Toyama."
"Only in Toyama?" I asked. "That's a random place for an other-worldly portal to appear in."
"You would think it would be in Takaoka…" Ayano said. "…But I guess not every abnormal thing happens over there."
"Is Takaoka really such an abnormal city?" Rui asked. "The stories I have heard about it seem a little improbable to be true."
"Trust us, Rui-san. It's a strange city."
"We've got friends who live there and they experience something weird almost every day. To the point where it's normal for them."
"That…is definitely not a good thing…" Rui gained a sweatdrop.
"*sigh* Anyway…" Amitie continued. "…The next eclipse isn't until a few weeks. So, I'm basically stuck here for a while. Would've been worth the wait if I had that figurine…"
"Still rather questionable that you came to another world just for an anime figurine…" Ayano gained a sweatdrop.
"A few weeks? That's during summer break." I said before thinking to myself. "Hey, Rui…any updates on that Sunshine Festival thing Kirin was planning up?"
"Huh? Oh…uh…we were going to announce the dates tomorrow during the lunch announcements. It has been scheduled for the third week of August."
"Cool! We actually have a date!"
"Uh…what's a "Sunshine Festival"?" Amitie asked.
"It's something our Student Council President is planning at our school. Basically a party of sorts."
"Huh…what's that got to do with me?"
"Because…it may lead into you getting that figurine you wanted so badly."
"R-REALLY?! HOW?!"
"Well…"
"H-Hold up a second!" Ayano yelled out as she pulled me to the side. Away from the two other girls. "Misao, what are you up to? You're really trying to drag Amitie into this "Sunshine Festival" that we know nothing about?"
"Think about it, Ayano. Having Amitie show up there will benefit us all. The school will have great performance, I can get TONS of cake…"
"So, you're doing this for cake?" Ayano grew exasperated.
"And…" I then got closer to her face. "…You could continue your little research you scrapped before. Get what I mean~?"
Ayano didn't respond right away and instead stared at me with a huge look of total shock. "Y-You really think I can get a Crystal Shard from this?"
"All we gotta do is make a little deal. And besides, Amitie said it herself. She's got nothing to do until that lunar eclipse shows up. It's perfect!"
"Wow…never would've seen you as the conniving type, Misao. It's…oddly kind of a turn-on."
"*giggle* Glad I've found your switch, Aya-chan…" I said with a perverted-like smile of my own.
"Uh…what are you guys talking about?" Amitie asked. Making us return to her and Rui and initiate our deal.
"Oh…nothing in particular." I replied. "But like I said before, there IS a way for you to get that figurine you wanted. Just gotta do this little favor for us…"
"A favor?"
"It's nothing too serious." Ayano said. "But it will include giving us a few things…"
"I…Is it too late to back out and run away from this conversation?"
"I…believe so, Amitie-san." Rui said with a sweatdrop of pity.
Author's Note: After learning her true identity and even things they were NEVER supposed to know, Misao and Ayano make a devious deal of desires with the other-worldly girl.
For those unaware, Amitie is from the Puyo Puyo series. It's what most of my stories are based on. I'm doing a little test of sorts…coming off of a crossover story I did with Puyo Puyo and Yuru Yuri. I'm slowly going to involve more characters from Puyo Puyo in stories like this one…just to see how it works out. Probably won't affect the plot much. Haven't gotten that far in the thought process yet.
Also, heads up…the next chapter won't contain either Misao or Ayano. Time for some other POVs to happen. Even though the two are the main characters this time around.
Thanks for reading. Later.
