Thank you smoreyofhyrule and Theory of Weirdness for the reviews and comments, very appreciated! I only blush in response to the compliments lol, they mean a lot to me.
This chapter is small as I stall for the biggy chapter, but it's a good one imo, hope its enjoyable at least lol
Bradford slid and turned the corner, running past the shocked and gawking eggheads, pushing them aside as he made his way down the halls he had taken thousands of times before. He was running at a speed faster than he had ever ran in his life with ease, passing through several hallways and going down to the main floor within a couple minutes.
But he felt more and more dread the closer he came to the lab. There was chaos everywhere, with the eggheads running about and taking their exits while others ran towards the intruder to stop her, wherever she was.
He had no care for any of it as a pleading thought kept passing through his head.
Please don't let anything else happen to her. Please let her be safe. Please let her be alright.
If there's one thing he knew about unplanned, disastrous adventures, was that they always ended badly. He had to stop that from happening before it can. No matter what.
But what if April was in direct trouble? What would he do? What if there was an explosion, or a fire surrounding her? What if he couldn't control the situation? What if he couldn't do anything, even with the Sword, even with his newfound power?
He felt the fear rising back quickly, imagining April's body in his mind…alone…helpless…crying…or worse…silent and unmoving.
He shook his head hard, swallowing down his anxiety, pushing himself to the last corner.
He needed to be strong. He needed to be prepared for anything. It didn't matter what happened to him as a child. It didn't matter if he wasn't able to be strong then. None of it matters now. All that mattered was April.
Sword give me strength…I call upon your strength…Sword give me strength…
