Chapter 10
Loud snoring could be heard in the room where a beautiful girl slept soundly, without worries. Lelouch was resting after a few long days of continuous work since being the leader of a revolutionary group was never-ending and highly stressful. Also, since Narita, the Black Knights have become Britannia's number one enemy in Japan, and Zero, the most wanted criminal in the world. A title that rather offended Lelouch since Zero wasn't a criminal. A warlord, perhaps. But not a common criminal.
Nevertheless, the last week has led Lelouch's health to decline. Even with the many success with her operations. Lelouch was still pretty unwell and was currently in those cycles where her chest injury, heart, and lungs would start troubling her a great deal. It showed since Lelouch suddenly started coughing quite loud and incredibly raspy. Lelouch woke up from her slumber and tried to grab her medicine. But it fell from the table, causing an audible groan from Lelouch. She wanted to reach it, but a sharp pain attacked her, making her hit the bed hard.
"Shit...!" Lelouch hissed, clutching her chest.
The pain came in waves, but a green-haired girl sleeping next to Lelouch soon went to the girl's assistance. C.C. quickly brought the inhaler and brought it to Lelouch. Lelouch, thankfully of her dear green-haired girl's help, could calm her pain long enough to breathe again.
C.C., who would typically be quite annoyed to be awakened at such hours, was concerned about Lelouch's health. She slowly massaged Lelouch's back, hoping it would help somehow.
"Did you need anything?" C.C. asked softly, earning a loud whine from Lelouch, who pointed to the box where her injections were held, and C.C. gave it to Lelouch.
Groaning, Lelouch did what she always did and injected the syringe directly into her chest, not having time to bother about the pain. C.C. stared at how the girl's body relaxed after a few minutes, letting the medicine flow through her body.
"It was a big one, eh?" C.C. said as Lelouch chuckled.
"Yeah... they're becoming more frequent."
"More frequent? Well, I have noticed you're coughing more regularly. And you look sicker," C.C. added, earning a simply tired stare from Lelouch.
"That bad, eh?" Lelouch muttered, annoyed, while slowly standing up from the bed, hissing at her sore body.
"You should rest more, don't you think?" C.C. added, not liking how Lelouch was already preparing to go out again.
"I would like it, but as you know, there's a lot I need to do. Not only as Zero but Lelouch."
"You're going to find yourself divided by two lives. Aren't worry about missing who you are?" C.C. asked, worried about Lelouch's possible mental health. Lelouch stood there, watching herself in the mirror, pondering about C.C.'s concern. She just wondered that, maybe, C.C. was true about her being two souls living in one body. It was hard to really explain it. But, Lelouch felt that changing so fast, personalities and mannerisms. It honestly disorients her sometimes.
"I guess, sometimes, I then forget who is who."
"Zero, Lelouch, both can be the same, yet also different. It would make my head hurt just to think about it," C.C. said but noticed a troubled face in Lelouch. C.C. also caught the normal purple eye and then a golden one.
"I guess you're genuinely two different people, but the same mind."
"Now you're making my head hurt," Lelouch replied, hiding amusement.
"That's my job, being an annoyance," C.C. said, smirking.
"Well, I guess, but nevertheless. There's something I am waiting for," Lelouch said, picking up her personal laptop. C.C. lazily stared at it, holding a certain plushy earned by eating a lot of pizza.
"Kyoto?" C.C. asked.
"Yes... Kyoto. I believe that soon enough, they'll invite me and establish a decent alliance with me personally."
"In good time, I guess," C.C. mocked.
"Indeed."
"So, are you going to meet them? The leader of them?"
"Yes, it will allow us to have more resources. Besides, I think I know the leader behind all of it. He'd make a good ally if he knew me."
C.C. frowned, wondering what was Lelouch thinking of doing. "Are you going to show yourself?"
"Not quite. I'll just be an old ghost."
Cornelia sat before the entire routine of delegates from different government parts, talking and throwing excuses left and right. She couldn't help but feel a mighty headache arriving. The battle at Narita has left a deep scar in her mind. It was, yet again, another defeat, and this one was more than just a personal defeat. Zero has once again played her and humiliated her. Never, in her life. Cornelia has never felt so ashamed about herself in all her life.
Defeat after defeat. Clovis's death, and now, this... Area 11 is becoming my personal hell. Cornelia thought tiredly.
Yet, it wasn't just that; the words Zero spoke concerned her greatly.
Perhaps, there's something more going on that you are not part of? Something that only the glorious emperor knew? What makes you feel sure that you or dear Euphemia won't become just another set of disposable assets thrown away?
Cornelia wondered, what does that mean. At first, Cornelia thought it was just Zero trying to get into her mind, looking for a way to just mess with her. Yet, the more Cornelia thought about it. The more she felt anxious. She knew there was something more going on with the Royal Family. Everyone knew it. The emperor, her father, was a secretive person, no doubt. But, Cornelia didn't want to believe her father would simply throw away his children in such a fashion. But then, she thought of her sisters Lelouch and Nunally and the mystery surrounding her.
Cornelia's thoughts were filled with many questions, but some of her didn't know if she wanted an answer. She wasn't prepared. Cornelia was afraid, mainly because it would give Zero power over her. And because a part of her understood something mysterious was happening with her father. And she wasn't ready to face it.
If the river sounds, it is because there is water in it.
Cornelia sighed, again focusing on what the delegates were speaking.
"The JLF has been annihilated by our recent operation, and we have captured the members who fled Narita not too long ago. With this, I can say that the operation was a huge success."
Cornelia's eyebrow twitched, remembering Narita.
"A success? I lost 80% of my forces. An entire city was destroyed by the landslide. The Black Knights have now openly gained the support of every minor resistance group in Japan. And the politics of this country has only shown that they could keep supporting whatever group is out there that could face us. Zero and the Black Knights are a far more powerful and dangerous group than the JLF ever was."
Cornelia snapped back, making the delegates flinch at the angry voice of the princess. The wound was still fresh, and it showed.
"I-I never intended to say it like that!" A little lord replied nervously. He could feel the gaze of the princess Cornelia on him and for the looks of it. She wasn't at all please with that statement.
"The problem is area 11 has a politic of occupation half-done!" Guilford said, earning a few stares. "The underground rail system and nationwide mining infrastructure are abandoned. Why is that? In the ghettos, the Elevens' registration and the building's scripture are ambiguous at best. We don't know how many Eleven are there or where. We don't even know how many ghettos are official across Tokyo. Let alone nationwide. This allows it for them to go against the government!"
Cornelia sighed, looking at the numbers. She realized now how much cannon fodder Zero truly has. So many Elevens across Tokyo alone would surely increase the Black Knights' strength. Cornelia just realized they were for a long war against a nationwide insurrection. If the Japan Liberation Front lasted almost a decade. The Black Knights could last even longer at the hand of someone like Zero. That's why Cornelia realized that the only way for her to win as fast as possible was to capture or kill Zero. It was the only way. Yet, it was easier said than done. No one knows anything about Zero. Where she came from, or who she was. Nevertheless, Cornelia felt like someone who wears such an outfit must find a sanctuary.
Zero looks fragile at best. That breathing mechanism must be for something. Cornelia wondered.
"Yes... the underground rail network spread across the nation was incredibly large even before the war. Now, it is filled with ruins and deadends. There are sections completely shut down from the world, left untouched for more than 8 years. But we can't just close those large sections."
"Even though they could be used by the terrorist?!" Guilford replied, making the Lord look even more anxious than before.
"Japan is a small island. We can't just destroy tunnels and make new ones in time. It is less expensive, and it allows us to just connect old sections with new ones."
"Doesn't that just give the terrorist a new playground to use at their will?!"
"Prince Clovis...!" The Lord said while suddenly feeling the glare of Cornelia. He gulped, cleaning the sweat off his forehead. "Prince Clovis was worried about it as well. But, the rail system is one of the lungs of area 11. It would take years, even decades, for us to rebuild the entirety of the rail system! And it would cause a fortune!"
Everyone looked at the Lord, who simply sighed shakily. "The Eleven economy is already suffering a great deal. It would force the area 11 bank to ask for a loan from the motherland. But we already asked for one, four years ago, to build the upper city in Tokyo. Asking for yet another one would cripple us. We would have to put more taxes on the Eleven economy. And with the war in Europe, it's not smart." The Lord said.
"It could create instability and make things even worse with the current state of affairs. The Chinese Federation would perhaps even risk a move."
"They could do it now," Cornelia added with a hiss. "With Zero causing problems and earning the approval of the Elevens. The Chinese Federation could take a shot and force Britannia to fight a war on another front."
"Your highness, if I may," Darlton spoke.
"Go ahead, Darlton."
"Didn't the interior minister appoint a delegation of Eleven in charge of self-govern themselves? It's called the NAC. We wanted to obtain more information about the NAC before the operation in Narita. But everything was buried away. We couldn't find a thing. We still suspect they played a massive role in supporting the JLF for years. If we eliminate them..."
"A group of plutocrats of blue blood. A relic of the old world. We don't need them," Cornelia muttered.
"Please, your highness, wait!" The Lord exclaimed. "Those are rumors! If we eliminate them, the Eleven economy will be lost. They are in charge of keeping everything stable! Allow for the Eleven to go forward step by step. If we eliminate them, It causes a chain reaction that would hurt Britannia's monetary assets! Then an economic crisis would erase all our progress in the last six years!"
"And the search of the Black Knights?!" Cornelia snapped.
"With the bit of information they left behind, we confirmed that it was indeed Zero behind the attack at Narita. But we don't know where they got such brand new Burais."
Cornelia just then scoffed at them. "So, you can't take Kyoto and neither Zero. You know what? All of you are a gang of incompetent fools."
Cornelia said, feeling a sudden headache like no other. She just realized that there wasn't much to do now. Only to wait for another attack.
In the academy, Kallen walked in hallways like a ghost of sorts. She was exhausted to no end. While the last days had been filled with nothing but joy and satisfaction since their first major battle at Narita. It was an incredible sensation to return home and see the reactions of everyone. The welcoming the Black Knights received was something Kallen never imagined. And while they did lose a few recruits. It was a far cry from what they had endured before. However, it was still tiring. Kallen's energy was deflected, but then again. She had to return to school before people suspected her.
Also, Kallen was incredibly excited to see a specific person. But, it seems that Kallen's girlfriend wasn't in the best shape. So, she'll spend the entire day with her.
MyThiccGf: Hey, If you read this, it means I am still alive, somewhere on Mars.
MyRedHairedGf: Mars? Truly? In anycase, how are you? Milly told me you have been in bed for the last two days.
MyThiccGf: Yeah, it is just the usual cycle of pain. But nothing to worry about. Nunnally also got sick with fever, so, Sayako has been working harder than before. Would you spend the day with me?
MyRedHairedGf: Of course! I'll do anything for you, dear!
MyThiccGf: Dear? Are we married? Oh, my! Then, bring something to eat! Please, don't bring pizza. Also, can you ask Milly to give you some of the paperwork I must do? I don't have anything better to do, so I better help the president with her job.
Kallen sighed but smiled, sometimes dealing with just the everyday ordinary life of a teenager. Having a girlfriend, spending time with her, watching movies, and going out on dates, was an incredible way to relax.
"You're right, Ohgi. This is making me happy," Kallen whispered as she soon entered the student council room.
"Oh, Kallen, good to see you!" Milly exclaimed dramatically, making Kallen confused.
"Good morning," Kallen replied, noticing the sudden blush on Shirley's face.
"How is Lelouch?" Milly asked.
"She's been in pain, but she is fine now. Kind of. However, she did ask me for some paperwork?"
"Oh yeah! It's on the table!" Milly said, smiling. "What a good subordinate I have."
Kallen chuckled as she took the pile of papers without noticing a strange envelope on top of it. Shirley just looked the other way, embarrassed for something that it eluded Kallen.
"You're going to spend the day with her?" Milly asked.
"Yeah, Nunnally has a fever, so miss Sayako has her hands full. So, I am going to take care of Lelouch," Kallen said, ignoring the sudden stare from Shirley behind her back.
"Alright, here, you'll need this."
Kallen took a strange lotion and stared at it, confused, while Milly only smiled. "It helps with the itch."
"Itch?" Kallen replied.
"Yeah, the inflammation can cause a particular itch, and Lelouch can't get rid of it. She'll start scratching and only hurt herself more," Milly said with a sigh. "Put this lotion around her chest, which would help her for a few hours. Normally I would do it myself, but I doubt you would like another girl to touch Lelouch's incredible and large set of boobs!"
Kallen quickly changes her posture and keeps the lotion in her hands. "Lelouch would no longer need you for that!" Kallen said with a funny possessive tone. Milly just laughed at the reaction of the red-haired girl.
"Alright. Never mess with the girlfriend of a redhead. Nevertheless, please take care of Lelouch," Milly whispered gently.
"I will. Thank you, president. I'll be on my way then. See you later, Nina... Shirley."
Kallen left, not wanting to waste more time there. And while she walked across the courtyard of the school. She listened to a sudden person calling her name.
"Kallen!"
The red-haired girl turned around and saw Shirley running towards her.
"S-Sorry! I left an envelope on top of that pile of papers."
Kallen nodded slowly, noticing a strange set of tickets in the envelope. Two, to be more precise. Kallen didn't have to be a genius to understand the implications of what those two tickets were about.
"Here, you have," Kallen replied with mild courtesy.
Shirley took them and held them both. She didn't know what to say.
"Would that be all?"
"Uh... y-yeah," Shirley replied.
Kallen nodded and turned away, but once again. She was stopped by Shirley.
"Wait... Kallen."
"What is it, Shirley?" Kallen replied, slightly annoyed. Shirley then looked at her with a sort of determined gaze.
"I was going to invite Lelouch to a date," Shirley said, now making Kallen hiss at her.
"Date? It seems you have forgotten that Lelouch has a girlfriend, and that person is me."
Kallen said, now not hiding her piss-off face. Shirley had a troubled face, not hiding her pain and anger. "I know!" Shirley yelled.
"It's not fair! I have known Lelouch for a longer time! It's not fair you're with her!" Shirley said, not hiding her feelings anymore. "You came out of nowhere and stole her away!"
"I didn't steal anything!" Kallen replied, aggravated. "She's not something that belongs to you. She is a person. Not because you know her for a longer time means that you're entitled to her feelings."
Shirley didn't know what to say. Truthfully, Shirley knew it. But it hurts a great deal the fact. She had to see the girls she had fancied for such a long time get together with someone else in such a short amount of time.
"Why?" Shirley muttered as tears ran down her cheeks. "Why...? Wasn't I... didn't I show it? Am I not pretty? Am I not worthy?... What does it hurt so much seeing you with her?"
Kallen took a deep breath, not wanting to cause drama. "Look, Shirley... I genuinely don't hate you. I don't particularly like you, but... I don't despise you."
Kallen tried to say it in the most gentle way possible. But still firm, wanting to set some boundaries. Since Shirley was, after all, Lelouch's friend.
"But, it will be better if you move on. Lelouch would not doubt still want you as a friend. But, please, respect my relationship with her and Lelouch's relationship with me."
Shirley looked down, and for a few seconds, nothing was said. "You're right. I am sorry."
Shirley muttered, but the pain on her face was still visible to Kallen. The red-haired girl only sighed.
"You truly love her, don't you?" Kallen asked softly, making Shirley chuckle a bit.
"Yeah... I truly do. But it seems... I wasted too much time thinking about what if, what could it be, what can be, that I never thought of what is. It's heartbreaking to lose the person you love, and more painful to see that person smile and be happy with someone else."
Shirley held on to the hurt in her heart but held a smile still while looking at Kallen. "You're a wonderful person, Kallen. I am happy you're Lelouch's girlfriend."
Kallen had to admit that she didn't expect this reaction from Shirley. It seemed that the girl was more mature than she initially thought.
"Here, take it," Shirley said, giving the two tickets to Kallen.
"Shirley, this..."
"It's okay... I don't have anyone to take. You can have it, take her to somewhere nice for me. Also, don't forget to take the money. Lelouch eats a lot!" Shirley replied with a big shining smile, which was capable of hiding her melancholy. Kallen smiled softly at the girl before.
"Thank you," Kallen said.
"Alright! This felt better than I thought! I'll see you later!"
Shirley then ran away, running as fast as she could, trying to find a place where she could let it all out. A lonely place. Where no one could hear her cry.
Kallen simply looked at the blue sky and took a deep breath.
"Well, this went better than expected."
Kallen then decided to leave and meet her beautiful girlfriend and hopefully tried to have a good afternoon with her.
It didn't take long before the red-haired girl reached that place. It was, after all, a few hundred meters from the main school building. Sayako, the poor maiden, looked rather tired but was incredibly happy to see Kallen.
"Hopefully, you'll keep miss Lelouch in bed," Sayako said with an exasperated tone of voice.
"How has she been behaving?" Kallen asked, amused.
"Miss Lelouch and Nunnally ordered junk food, Fried chicken, and some cookie-cream cakes and sneakily watched movies all night."
Kallen chuckled at both young, sick girls just doing whatever they wanted. "I'll keep her on a short leash," Kallen said.
"Please do. Miss Nunnally is back in bed with a fever but has shown no remorse."
Kallen smiled, reaching Lelouch's room, where Sayako allowed her to enter. There, she saw a certain purpled-eyed girl, suddenly hiding a bag of chips and pretending to be asleep.
"I am sleeping, Sayako!"
Kallen rolled her eyes but smiled. "It's Kallen, and I saw what are you hiding there."
"Oh, my beloved hot girlfriend comes down to do the naughty things to little me?" Lelouch said, trying to flirt with Kallen, as she suddenly started to cough rather loudly.
"Yes, such sexiness is hard to resist," Kallen deadpanned, approaching Lelouch and slowly caressing her girlfriend's back.
"How are you feeling?" Kallen asked gently.
"Better than yesterday, that's for sure. It's just coughing and mildly pain in my chest. Nothing to worry about. The doctor says I should be fine in one more day," Lelouch muttered as she sat on the edge of the bed, watching Kallen sitting next to her.
"Good," Kallen whispered gently, kissing Lelouch, who moaned softly.
"Mm, what is that?" Lelouch asked, looking at the envelope, making Kallen sigh.
"I have a little conversation with Shirley not too long ago."
"Oh, for the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like a standard type of conversation."
"Yeah, you are right. It's the usual conversation with someone who wishes to date someone else's partner."
"Ah?"
Kallen sighed and told everything that happened with Shirley. All of it, including the tickets.
"I knew Shirley had a crush on me but never thought she would try to ask me on a date," Lelouch sighed. "I should have talked to her. Sorry, Kallen."
"It's not your fault. You can't control people's feelings."
Lelouch chuckled nervously, not wanting to add anything about that.
"Besides, it's done. There's no reason for us to worry. Let's try to enjoy ourselves, shall we? Also, she did give us these tickets."
"Oh, well, I guess that's alright. As long you invite me some food."
"Of course," Kallen replied, kissing Lelouch's cheek. "Ah, I almost forget. Milly gave me this."
"Uwah! The lotion of Gods!"
"Lotion of Gods?" Kallen replied, amused.
"It truly helps me with the itch," Lelouch said, but then she smirked widely. As she stood up and walked before Kallen, who tilted her head at her.
"What are you doing?" Kallen asked, noticing the devious look on Lelouch's face. Then, the girl with purple eyes started to take off her pajamas, making Kallen gasp in shock.
"W-What are you doing?!" Kallen yelled as Lelouch giggled.
"You can't put the lotion on me if I have clothes," Lelouch's voice made Kallen shiver, among other things. Since, now, Lelouch was displaying her naked body to her red-haired lover.
"L-Lelouch!" Kallen squealed while Lelouch pushed Kallen on the bed, allowing her to climb on top of her.
"Kallen... you must carefully spread that lotion on me," Lelouch whispered, bringing Kallen's hand on her breast. Kallen, couldn't help but gently squeeze them, loving the sensation of softness in her hands.
"Lelouch," Kallen muttered, trying to not lose it completely.
Lelouch smiled, slowly moving her hips back and forward. The sensation of her nake core on Kallen's underwear was blissful.
"What is it, Kallen? Aren't you going to put that lotion on me? Or should I ask Milly to do it for me?" Lelouch teased. "Or, should I call... Shirley?"
Hearing those words brought a wave of anger to Kallen. The red-haired girl growled and abruptly used her strength to overpower Lelouch, who let a surprised yelp as she was pushed to the bed, and now Kallen was the one on top of her. The red-haired girl grabbed both hands and put them over Lelouch's head, not allowing her lover to cover her gloriously naked body.
"You're making me angry," Kallen hissed possessively. "You're mine and no one else."
Lelouch liked truly that side of Kallen. It was surprising to see and somewhat thrilling.
"Truly? Then show me."
Lelouch whispered, and Kallen smirked.
Kallen forgot to put on the lotion. But, it seems that it wasn't needed.
The sound of the drilling was loud and heavily industrialized. The large sections of the underground rail system under Tokyo were slowly becoming a city. A large fortress spreading miles across the entire metropolis. Old trains were now being repaired to transport not only equipment but people. All the ghettos were directly connected in ways Britannia would never know. But that wasn't just it. Deep down, in the central command of the old Tokyo train system. The Black Knights headquarters was built.
Zero wanted to build an H.Q. that could maintain a frontal assault and serve as a center of operation. A place where she could see everything happening in Tokyo at any time. It took time, but she was able to just do that.
The Black Knights' H.Q. It was in the middle of everything. All rails, old and new, were just above it, connecting everything in one place. There, she brought the equipment necessary to militarise the base. A large and relatively advanced table stood before Zero, where she could see Tokyo. Not only the Black Knights could see all the trains going in and out of the city. But as well the Britannia's troops at all cost. Many 3D maps with live feed were on the walls representing every ghetto.
There were also many other computers around, maps, and different types of equipment.
The Black Knight's H.Q. was filled with people now. All were in charge of different jobs, working together to keep the Black Knights' administration smoothly. They were the biggest resistance group in Japan now. And perhaps, one of the best prepared as well.
"We have finally connected the Chiba train station to the Sobu Line."
The original members of the Black Knight. The first ones to join were all sitting around the large table with the map of Tokyo. They were the only ones who could speak directly to Zero or approach her. Since they all knew that currently. Britannia has made public an enormous reward for any information about Zero. And even a large bonus, including a Lordship for the capture of Zero.
Not that Zero needed a bodyguard. But it was better that way.
"I see. Then we only have Yokohama, Koshigaya and Yokosuka left. Thank you, Naomi."
The blue-haired girl smiled gently, feeling proud of herself. The girl has become Zero's secretary. Naomi was liked by everyone and was respected too. She was patient and well versed in a business's administrative aspect. Zero saw her capabilities when giving her the job of recruiting people to fill the H.Q. Now, Naomi's responsibilities were one of the most important. Organizing and managing the different aspects of the resistance. An essential task. It may not be thrilling, like facing Britannia's Knightmare Frames in battle. But it was as important as that.
Also, it truly helps to have someone who keeps updating things to do. Zero already has her hands full.
"Mm, with that system then, we will indeed have the most extensive underground rail system in the world. We could move across Tokyo without Britannia knowing!" Minami, the captain of Zero's second battalion, replied happily.
Everyone shared his feelings. They were still carrying the victory of Narita in their mind. But also how much the Black Knights have improved in the last weeks. But also how they were looked upon by the Japanese people. They had the love and reputation that the Japan Liberation Front never had.
"It also allows us to help those ghettos. The Yokosuka ghetto is one of the destitute and more abandoned. They need our assistance," Yoshida, the captain of Zero's third battalion, added, earning a nod from all.
"We also need to train our pilots. We have new Burais, but not a place to train them," Kento, the captain of the recognizance group, expressed.
"We have found a somewhat secluded area near Kanagawa Prefecture, perfect for us to use," Naomi added. "We need to clean it, but it leads directly to one of our rail entries."
"Also, Kallen, could you help us train the new recruits?" Kento asked about the youngest member of Zero's inner circle and looked at them somewhat puzzled.
"Uh, me? But, I am not that good," Kallen muttered.
"Not that good?! You're our best pilot!" Kento replied, amused. "You're the captain of Zero squad, remember? Our best pilot."
Kallen blushed slightly, hearing her new rank. "But I didn't defeat that white Knightmare Frame," Kallen muttered.
"It was a draw, Kallen! We all see it," Tamaki, the self-proclaimed Special Forces Captain, spoke.
"But...!"
"He's right, Bunny. You're our ace. If there's someone who could teach our new pilots something, it is you," Zero stated, making Kallen flush. However, everyone noticed something strange in Zero's voice. It sounded somewhat distant. Ill, fatigued.
"I'll do it, but I hope they all show respect," Kallen replied with a funny, arrogant tone, making everyone laugh.
Zero nodded but groaned slightly. She was still in pain, even after such long days of recovery. I had to use the Geass too much to cover my tracks. And make the movement of the Black Knights easier. But as well as my abilities. However, this pain is not from that. Why do I feel like this? It has never happened before. Zero thought, holding on to her seat.
"Zero," Ohgi, the Secon-in-Command spoke, arrived, and there was a big smile on his face.
"What is it?" Zero asked, watching Ohgi's showing a letter.
"A love letter," Ohgi joked.
"Uh... from you?" Zero asked, a bit disoriented by the amount of medicine she had taken in the last 24 hours.
"Ha ha!" Tamaki laughed. "And they say you have no sense of humor!"
"Don't laugh, Tamaki," Kallen said.
"It's a letter from Kyoto. They are soliciting an urgent reunion," Ohgi said.
Zero nodded. "So they have finally contacted us. With the Japan Liberation Front destroyed. We are the last group that can go against Britannia."
"Having Kyoto on our side would surely make it easy to obtain more resources, don't you think?" Ohgi said.
"It would, yes. While I have obtained more than necessary for now. If we want to free Japan. We will need their support. Cornelia won't move for a while. She has lot plenty of her elite soldiers during Narita. But we can't move out yet. We don't have the numbers still."
Zero sighed tiredly.
"We also need to care for the families of the fallen ones in Narita. I won't let them fend for themselves. How are we doing in that regard, Naomi?"
"As best we can do. The families won't have their loved ones back. But they won't have a hard life anymore," Naomi replied softly.
"I see. What do you think, Ohgi?" Zero asked Ohgi. It was strange for Zero to ask someone's opinion about what to do. But, it was a way to respect Ohgi's authority as the second in command. After all, while the first members of the Black Knights have come around and showed more respect for her. They still were apprehensive of her since they genuinely didn't know anything about who Zero was or what she was. So, if Ohgi seemed to be working next to Zero as an equal. And Zero demonstrates that level of respect for him. It makes them feel relieved.
"I think we should go. In the long run, it could help us greatly," Ohgi said, and Zero nodded.
"I see, then we will do it. Tamaki, Kallen, and Ohgi will come. Naomi, I'll leave you in charge until we come back."
"Yes... Zero," Naomi replied, with a sense of growing admiration for her leader.
"We should...!"
Everyone saw how Zero gripped the table's edge, helping her not fall down face down.
"Zero!" Kallen yelled, rushing forward to help her. The machinery started to make a loud noise, and everyone could hear the breathing mechanism was working louder than before. A deep and loud breathing sound was heard, a mechanic one.
"It's alright, Kallen. I am fine," Zero replied, as her voice sounded anything but fine.
"Ohgi, prepare everyone. We are living in an hour."
"But," Ohgi muttered, now heavily worried about the person who had given them so much.
"I need just a moment."
