"Everything…"

Winter took a few steps, her legs wobbly.

"Everything is gone…?"

She fell on her knees, eyes filled with despair as she couldn't believe what she heard. She didn't want to believe it, but given the fact that both her parents are dead, not to mention that Weiss suddenly has a pet eagle and a tattoo on her arm, not to mention she's recovering her memories…

"All my peers… my home…"

Willow gently knelt down to hug her as Winter bowed her head, tears swelling in her eyes.

"How much do you remember your sister?" Jacques asked Weiss gently.

"Honestly… aside from her name? I can't remember a thing. I'm having a hard time believing she's my sister."

"Hmmm…" Jacques folded his arms. "That's troubling."

Weiss nodded sadly, before turning toward the shrine that was still active. She looked at Naydra before turning to look at her sister. "Stay with her. I've got something to do real quick."

"Of course."

Weiss turned toward the shrine and then walked inside the cave, putting her Sheikah Slate on it as the Shrine turned a different color. She frowned, feeling guilty that she couldn't remember her own sister.

She steeled herself as she walked into the shrine.

As soon as she did, Naydra's scale glowed as the layout of the shrine changes, also transforming into a dungeon.

"To you who holds the scale of Naydra, I offer this trial in the name of the goddess Nayru. If you are wise enough to prove yourself against this trial, then you will be given a great gift."

Weiss had a look of determination. "Let's go."

Weiss walked through a corridor before stepping out, seeing a large maze in front of her.

BGM: Temple (Super Smash Bros Melee)

She looked up to see a rock ceiling and looked down, seeing water on the bottom. She then saw floating platforms along the area, complete with ReDeads standing still.

She dropped down to the bottom path, quickly dodging the ReDeads before running through the corridor, quickly slashing through some ReDeads as she made her way through a spike pit, jumping over the pits while shooting down a ReDead with a Bomb Arrow.

Once she made her way through, she spotted a pedestal with a sword in it. She approached it and put her hand on it, but the sword disappeared as she was surrounded by Fire Keese, dive bombing her.

Weiss pulled out the Biggoron Sword, quickly spin slashing the Keese until they were all destroyed, then a gate opened up as she made her way through until she came across a large lava pit.

She spotted a platform above her as she pulled out her hookshot and fired at the platform, sending her up as she climbed over and did the same thing for the other platforms until she got up top and ran into another room.

She spotted another sword in a pedestal, but chose to ignore it and kept going, but the gates slammed shut before she could even progress. She sighed as she turned around to see Bokoblins and Moblins running toward her… and promptly getting their butts kicked by Weiss.

Once the gate opened up, she ran off and found herself back in the main area. She hopped on some platforms and made her way down the middle path, finding a split path as she was about to go up, but a Like Like dropped down on top of a ReDead on the platform.

"...Nope."

She went down, dropping between some ReDeads that she burnt up and then ran ahead, finding a pedestal, but instead of a sword, it was the Triforce.

"Okay, that's new." She said as she walked toward it, touching the Triforce and then found herself glowing before being transported to an open area, finding herself outside of the temple.

"Well done. Now you will face an opponent from a different timeline, far different from ours. Your wisdom will determine where the battle leads."

A portal opened up in front of Weiss, where she would see a man come out, wearing a green tunic as he walked out with a map in his face.

"Let's see… I wonder if I should go say hi to the princess-"

He looked up, seeing Weiss in front of him.

"Huh?"

"Um… hi."

The man looked around, seeing he was far away from where he was. "Huh?"

"You have been chosen to fight a maiden in a different timeline from yours. Fight well."

"Oh… I thought I was just hallucinating." He said, rubbing his head. "Could've sworn Majora somehow came back from the dead just to mess with me."

"So… you have a name?" Weiss asked.

"I'm Link, the Hero of Time. Yours?"

"Weiss Schnee, the heroine of a fallen Hyrule."

Link raised his eyebrows with a surprised expression. "Hyrule fell in this timeline?"

"It's a long story."

"Perhaps we could discuss it after this fight. I'm assuming you're doing a trial of Wisdom?"

"Yes."

Link pulled out the Gilded Sword. "Then let's not dawdle a second longer."

Weiss brought out Myrtenaster. "Right."

"No hard feelings?"

"No."

"Good. May the best swordsman win."

BGM: Ocarina of Time Medley (Super Smash Bros Brawl)

I don't know what this guy's like. I gotta be careful here… Weiss thought as both got in their stances before they lunged, both of them striking each other where they both took a step back. Weiss quickly thrusted Myrtenaster into him, but he blocked with the Mirror Shield and shield bashed her in the head.

"Mmmph!" She grunted, shaking her head right as Link used a Great Spin to send her flying. "Nnngh!"

Link pulled out his Fairy Bow and shot Fire Arrows at her, but she recovered and blocked with the Hylian Shield. Link narrowed his eyes, seeing the familiarity of the shield.

Interesting… He thought. By the looks of it, she doesn't seem to have Fi with her.

Weiss conjured up magic and proceed to launch a stream of ice into Link, but he blocked with the Mirror Shield where it lit up and returned it to sender. Weiss ran through the ice without a second thought, proceeding to stab Link but he blocked again.

Immune to ice? Good to know.

Weiss thrusted but Link parried her with the shield and then Jump Striked, the shockwave was enough to send her down to the lower area of the Temple, sliding off a rock slope and landed on some concrete.

"Agh…!" She grunted as she looked around, seeing nothing but a cloudy abyss from the ledge. She grimaced as she got up, only to see a Powder Keg rolling down the slope. Her eyes widened as she quickly put up a Glyph, where the Powder Keg exploded.

When the dust settled, a Goron jumped over the glyph and then before Weiss could blink, the Goron shoved his fist into Weiss, sending her back up as she crashed into a wall. With a wince, she used her healing magic on herself, only to get struck by bubbles.

"Ack… hey…!" She grunted, seeing a Deku Scrub in front of her. She tried to slash her but spun around to send her flying up and landed near some ruins. Weiss got up, only to see a Zora vault over some ruins and threw some Zora boomerangs at her.

Is this the same guy…?! Weiss wondered as she blocked with some glyphs, only for a Bombchu to run up said glyph and then exploded at her feet. "Agh…!" She exclaimed, nearly getting blown into the cloudy depths.

With a growl, her eyes turned draconic and her dragon tattoo burst into flames as now the Goron came back and punched her as she returned the favor, both fists connecting as the explosion was enough to send the Goron flying and Weiss nearly teetering off the edge but she recovered.

The Goron lay on his back, but curled up into a ball and got back up as Link removed the mask, turning back to normal. "Din's Fire, I see…"

He readied himself to see what she'd do next, as Weiss approached him, switching out Myrtenaster for the Biggoron Sword, causing his eyes to widen in surprise… before he switched to the Great Fairy Sword.

Both got in a stance as they both lunged, slashing each other with their two handed blades, but Link sweep kicked her to knock her down and slashed up to disarm her as he freed up one hand and grabbed the Biggoron Sword.

Hello, old friend. He thought to himself as Weiss recovered, and dread came over her as she stared at Link dual wielding as he swung the heavy blades, forcing Weiss to dodge as she blocked with the shield, but the force was enough to make her stumble as he kicked her in the stomach before cross slashing her.

"Graaaaagh!" Weiss cried as she fell on her back, but she felt a warm embrace flow over her.

"It was my pleasu-... oh!" Mipha looked at Link in surprise as the Hero of Time raised an eyebrow at Mipha's spirit. Oh, he's cute… agh, focus! You're in love with Whitley!

Mipha went away as Weiss sprang back up, and then pulled out her crossbow and fired arrows at him, but Link was able to split the arrows in half with pin point accuracy as he slashed her away, but Weiss smirked in midair as Link walked, but felt his shoe step on something.

"Hmm?" He looked down to see a remote bomb, as Weiss detonated it. "Rrrgh!" He grunted as he was knocked back, dropping the Biggoron Sword as Weiss recovered, quickly running up and retrieving the Biggoron Sword as Link sprang back up.

Good… dual wielding was more exhausting than I thought. He thought before he raised his finger to say "one moment" before reaching into his pocket to pull out a green potion and drank it up, then put it away, feeling rejuvenated.

Weiss charged ahead, slashing him repeatedly but Link parried her and kicked her away. She responded by throwing fireballs at him but he batted them away and charged her, opting for a Hero's Spin, but Weiss jumped over him.

Got ya! He thought, pulling out his Hookshot and grabbing her ankle with it, making her faceplant to the ground.

"OOOMPH!" She grunted as he released her. She turned around with a glare and threw ice chunks at him, but he blocked with the Mirror Shield, sending it back at her as she ran ahead, slashing at Link, but he rolled out of the way and Back Sliced her.

"GYAAAAAAAAAH!" She screamed as she stumbled, panting as she exhaustedly slashed at him, but he parried and then unleashed a Helm Splitter to knock her to the ground.

She groaned in agony as she rolled over, not noticing a Fairy flew around her to heal her as she tried to will herself to try and get up… only to see Link already in mid-air, proceeding to execute the Ending Blow. Her eyes widened and shut her eyes tightly.

Shiiink!

End BGM

Weiss opened her eyes, seeing the Great Fairy Sword embedded into the ground just mere inches from her face, but felt Link's boot on her stomach.

"You're a lot squirrlier than I thought… and resilient." He said.

Weiss panted, not daring to move before she let out a soft defeated sigh. "Okay… I concede."

Link nodded, pulling out the Great Fairy Sword and putting it away, then offered his hand. She grabbed it and pulled her up.

"Sorry about that Helm Splitter… I just got caught up in the moment." He chuckled sheepishly.

"It's fine… I didn't realize I was way out of my league."

"So… how did Hyrule fall in this timeline?"

"I can't say for sure, I've lost my memory, but all I know is that I was mortally wounded and put into a Chamber of Resurrection where I slumbered for a century. Everything I knew and loved are gone."

"So you're in an alien Hyrule…" Link grimaced at the thought. "That's unfortunate. What caused this to happen?"

"Somebody called… Calamity Ganon?"

"Ganon…" Link shook his head. "I've faced him once myself. He was a Gerudo hellbent on destroying Hyrule and reshaping it to his own image. And all that happened when I grabbed the Master Sword and slept for seven years- don't ask."

"Small timelines…"

Link chuckled. "I guess so."

"At least you stopped him… I couldn't. And now all my friends are dead, including the princess."

Link frowned. "Even Zelda…"

"Who's Zelda? I'm talking about Princess Ruby."

"Oh, my bad." Link scratched his head. That's awkward…

"Though… I think she might still be alive, but I'm not sure."

"It's hard to grasp reality as you once knew it from a previous time. I can relate." Link said before smiling. "Don't let it discourage you. After all, this is a chance for you to redeem yourself and try again. Avenge the fallen."

"How can I? I couldn't even defeat you for crying out loud."

"Just trust your instincts and you should be fine… well, and to be fair, you're probably still a bit rusty after a hundred year slumber. …Either that or you're not used to fighting against a fellow swordsman."

"You're probably right. Think you could teach me some of those moves?"

"I probably could, though you seem like a visual learner so perhaps you could figure it out yourself after I executed most of them on you."

"...Most of? Why didn't you-"

"I have one where I would have killed you if I used it. It's called Mortal Draw."

"Ooooh… good call."

Link nodded. "Just keep at it, and you'll be able to defeat Ganon once and for all."

Weiss smiled. "Thanks, Link."

"Anytime." Link smiled as a portal opened up in front of him. "By the way, this isn't my first time winding up in a new area by portal."

"How so?"

"Eh… found myself in some weird tournament. Fought this lady who looked ready to turn me inside out, especially with that whip of hers." He shuddered. "I think her name was… Ivy or something. If you ever see that woman… run."

"What does she look like?"

"Let's just say her outfit leads… little to the imagination. Take care."

"That's… not exactly helpful! Could've been a little less vague!" Weiss said once Link entered the portal and disappeared. "Aaaand he's gone." She sighed. "Take care, Link."

"You have done well. By conceding the fight, you have proved yourself worthy of your wisdom."

Wait, you WANTED to get my ass kicked by him so I could pass after conceding? Dick move… She thought in annoyance as she found herself teleporting to a shrine, where she saw an image of Nayru painted on the wall along with the Triforce.

She pulled out Naydra's Scale, which in turn caused it to glow as it merged with Weiss, where another tattoo appeared on her, this time on her neck line where a tattoo of a necklace appeared on her chest, the "chain" going around her neck.

"You now have the power of Naydra by your side. By using the power of the dragon, you can use Nayru's Love."

Weiss tapped into it, her eyes turning a draconic blue as a diamond-shaped shield surrounded her for a few seconds.

Coulda used that against Link earlier, but whatever.

"Find the dragon power of Farosh."

Weiss was wrapped in a bright light and found herself outside of the shrine. With a nod, she walked out, feeling incredibly sore with her fight against Link.

"How was it?" Willow asked.

"It was… eventful, to put it lightly." Weiss said.

"We were just talking, and I think it'd be best if Winter laid low to recover her mental state for the time being. It was a lot to take in." Jacques said.

"Right. Where should I take her?"

Willow pointed toward a direction in the distance. "Go south of Hateno, and you will visit a quiet coastal village known as Lurelin. The area there should be enough for Winter to mentally recover."

"Alright."

"...Before you take me there." Winter stood up. "I want to see Whitley."

Weiss frowned. "Are you sure that's a good idea? It took me a while to come to terms with-"

"I just want to see him again, even if it's not him." Winter said. "I just… want to see my baby brother again."

Weiss hesitated before she slowly nodded.

"Alright… I'll take you to see Whitley."

Originally, I was gonna have Weiss and Winter go to Lurelin this chapter after the Trial of Wisdom, but thought "Eh, nah. We can have a shorter chapter this time around."

And also, originally, I thought of Weiss facing Twilight Link with Midna since the Hero of Twilight is a beast of his own with how physically strong he is, but Cody thought "Why not use the Hero of Time instead"? So I was like "Sure, why not!"
